Hi everyone, after some attempts to flashing 2.1 on my x8 (it's a prototype) i can't boot again, i get the sony ericsson logo that loops forever..
I've tried to repair it using seus, but it says that there are no updates for my phone and i don't get any repair options..
So i'm trying with bin4ry's flash tool, but with no luck, i've almost put every rom found here on xda but after the flashing process ends with no errors, i reboot the phone and nothing happens. the only thing i can access is xrecovery, but I have no backup to recovery from.
can someone help me??
Cheers
Luca
It also happen to me. Did you tried with pc companion? Go to software update, and click repair. This will install a clean android 2.1

well, when i try to update it with pc companion, in the downloading process, the program said that it was unable to start update service or something like that because i forgot the line.
well, good solution though, im really mad when i realize that the charger and the battery's warranty sticker was already broken, and i bought it new.
thanks for answering
Try this...

First of all, do not panic (i say that because i was in panic myself the first time i bricked my phone).
I suggest you to install the stock rom from pc companion (then install what ever you want). You will LOOSE ALL your data (exept the ones in your SDcard), but it's better that a bricked phone
PC companion will work, follow the steps:
1. Go to "Support Zone" (in Pc Companion)
2. Click "Start" (without to connect the phone)
3. A window will pop up, click the "Repair phone" link
4. Click "continue"
ATTENTION: Somewhere here the program will ask you to choose you phone, i can't tell when because i have choose mine the first time i did it. After this it will ask you to connect it pressing the "Back" button.
5. A window will pop up to inform you somehow that you will lost you data, ckeck the box and click "next"
6. The PC Companion will download the final version of your stock rom, just wait... and then it will install it.
(the phone will connect throught flash mode)
P.S.:This will work, that's how i fixed my X8 when i had the same problem...
I hope that i helped you

yes i did it like that. but when in the preparation for updating process, it shows an error message. BUT STRANGELY, just now i used hongkong's eclair, and i try to use the PC Companion, it doesnt give any error. I dont know why, but it wont matter if it works because i dont want a hongkong's stock ROM.
Can't you take it to the strore for a guaranty now? or maybe they fix it... then you can install the rom you want...

How to fix a Hardbricked X8
I have worked out how to fix a hardbricked X8 WITHOUT using PC Companion or Flashtool. You can even use it if xRecovery doesn't work!
First, Download the executable here
Install on a Windows PC
Once installed, Update Service should start automatically. If not, find it in the Start menu.
Find the X8 from the list
It will ask you to connect your phone by taking out the battery, waiting 5 seconds before putting the battery back in again, then pressing and holding the Back button while inserting the MicroUSB cable into the X8
Release the back button when told to do so
Update Service will download the latest ROM, then flash it to your phone
Unplug your phone, then turn it on and it is guaranteed to work if you follow the instructions step by step
I hope this helped, and if it worked for you, hit the Thanks button!
SEUS isn't supported by SE anymore, but it works better than PCCompanion for fixing our phone
Everybody knows this and why do you say you don't need SEUS if you are actually explaining how to use it?

Sorry for my late reply as I have been finishing off my Android app and helping with CyanogenMod on the.Ace. I mainly posted this, not as a guide, but a way to download the latest version of SEUS, as it is hard to get hold of. I got this off a Sony Ericsson employee, and thought others may find it useful.

Hi, I've seen in your signature that you achieved a Quadrant Score of over 1700: what smartphone have you achieved this score on? If it's an XPeria X8 what have you done on it to achieve such a high score? I've never been able to get past about 1025-1030 (my X8 is both rooted, overclocked @ 729.6Mhz and JIT enabled, plus nAa kernel and bootloader unlocked). With that I've too never been able to get a Quadrant score above 1025. So would be curious to know what you have managed to do on this smartphone to get such a high score.

hw abou PCC? and what is the difference?
pcc and seus are different because pcc is a programm used for other stuff as well. pcc dosnt reapir as GOOD* as seus. seus is kinda outdated** but pcc is useless for helping you when youv bricked your x8 (hard brick)
seus is very good cuz you dont even need your phone turned on! you just need it in flash mode
*it can repair your x8 but it is more or less useless to do. its harder, but is a easyer software to get hold of
**yes, you heard me, outdated. its been around for a long time i suppose, so SE thoughtlessly created pcc, to replace our beloved seus. you can find an seus download on google. i used to have it but i installed linux mint 12 os on my netbook (small laptop, DUH) and it wiped all of my data (which i am glad of cuz i had to much crap on windows 7 (starter) ) hope this helped

If you want to return to the stock rom 2.3.3 uses PcCompanion
http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
press support zone--->update phone-->repair and follow the guide
if you want to go back to a 2.3.x you just flash the rom with respective FlashTool
Use the repair option in PC companion to go back to stock unrooted 2.3.3
