[Q] Which Radio version? - HD2 General

I have NAND Android installed on this phone and I'd like to update the phone to the latest version. But I am not sure which one as some of them works OK, while other doesn't work very well.
My HTC HD2 comes with the following info:
R - 2.07.51.22.2
G - 15.32.50.07U
D - 1.66.76641
Which version of radio should I go with? I am looking for one that has a *very* good 3G connection speed.
Thanks,

Out of all of the radio versions available, IMO the best is 2.15.50.
You can find it here
http://www.multiupload.com/QP0IWGY42F
People have reported that supposedly 2.14.00 gives better battery life but I didn't find this to be the case.

Depends on location and network Im afraid....
I could be wrong but I didnt think that the Radio you mentioned would allow you to run android from NAND.....
Either way... the popular ones are between 2.08.50.xx - 2.15.50.xx
The one I use is in my signature and gives me pretty good 3G reception...
Trial and error though Im afraid.

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am from UK and I'm using the T-Mobile network.

That doesn't really matter, all of the good Android radios (2.12.50 and above) will work fine with you, you can either use the one I recommended, or trial and error the other 3.

Thanks all, am currently testing 2.15.50.14

That's the most commonly used one.

Always on line for xda 1??

Any body knows for xda 1, you can keep checking new mail arrival through GPRS?
I heard people using xda 2 can do that. But is there any chance xda 1 can do the same thing?
Actually, when u do the setting for POP account, it ask u to set how many minutes to check for new messages. But it never work because the GPRS will close automatically.
Thanks very much. :?
Sure it can be done!
Take a look at:
http://www.o2.co.uk/productsservices/xda/romupgrade/0,,170,00.html
BTW the above is one of many!
also where are you located?
HTH
I am using the most updated PPC2002 version already. (3.20.06 ROM and 4.21 Radio)
Do u mean I have to upgrade to PPC2003?
I doubt that because they are not very stable for me to use in Hong Kong so far from other guy's comments in this website.
Thanks very much.

Since you're already running the latest upgrade its suppose to work but since it doesn't I would have to say that your always-on settings are at fault. So go to Start, Settings, Connections and make sure that its set to not disconnect.
HTH
Are you sure that it is also for xda1 ?
I can't locate that "not disconnect" setting.
Please clarify.
Thanks so much.

It should say some thing like this:
GPRS connection to remain active once the device enters power save mode.
At least it does on the PPC 2002 latest AT&T ROM and the XDA developers Special Edition ROM v1.2. (which is bases on the O2 3.17.03 ROM).
HTH
That's really strange for my O2 xda!
I only found a setting called GPRS Suspend Mode setting.
It said,
When you are in power-saving mode, do you want to:
- Keep GPRS connection
- End GPRS connection
I clicked on the first one.
Then I close it, and connect to GPRS.
Just for a while, the connection ends by itself.
Any thought?
Thanks a lot again.
Yeap thats the correct setting and the same one I'm speaking of!
I read a lot of bad reports about the 4.21 radio stack so it might be at fault.
Maybe you should think about upgrading to the Qtec radio stack, heard nothing but good reports on that one.
The Qtek 1010 Radio Stack Upgrade can be found at:
http://www.carrierdevices.com.au/downloads.php?region=Asia Pacific
Download Radio Upgrade File : RSUv1.15_(GPRS_T32500_ENG).exe
BTW read the WARNING.
BTW do you have a URL for that newer o2 ROM, I'd like to install it and see if it does the same for me/
HTH
Here it is.
http://www.myxda.com/web/template/SoftwareUpgradeIntroduction.vm
BTW, I am a bit nervous to install the radio file cause I have bad experience that almost kill my phone.
Is it really okay just to install the radio file?

Like I said I've heard nothing but good reports on upgrading to this radio
stack (no failed upgrades have been reported but as with any upgrade there is always a possibility).
BTW thanks for the link!

Hi Qman,
Have u tried to update that ROM?
Is there the same problem?

Unable to download, it kept asking for a IMEI.
You wouldn't happen to have the direct download link would you?
Oh! I didn't realize that...sorry.
I am still a bit nervous for upgrading (or is it actually downgrading) to the i-mat ROM.
If it is downgrading, I will definitely not try that...
Hi Qman,
I just notice that Yorch.net got the 3.20.06 ROM.
Also they have the 4.00.21 ROM (pre-release T-Mobile version). Is it for the US market only?
Chris
hi; Are you sure that Yorch.net got the 3.20.06 ROM??? Can't find it. I have downgraded my XDA yesterday from the kitchen wm2003 because of bugs to kitchen 2002 but it says 3.17.03 and not the one you mention???!!!
Hey,
That's not from the "kitchen". It's from the "upgrade" just under "kitchen". Check it out again and you will find it.
Anybody knows that 4.00.21 is good for o2 xda?
Chris
hmmm, currently I am using it
so far so good but there is one major BUT for me - most possibly that version makes wipe out my 256MB SD card every up to 48 hours
for me it is a major .... item
regards,
monika
That's terrible. What about the GPRS and phone reception?
To be honest, I won't use it if it will wipe off the sd contents every 2 days.
Have you tried to burn again?
so far GPRS is not working ....
but that is due local GSM provider that has some complicates setup as to make GPRS to work, phone recption is ok ... I am living in area where virtually all GSM phones had reception problems (i.e. majority of nokia phones), although in a city center it is perfect ....
just for you to know ... I have received a link from one of the group members for the most recent update - look there for details :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4556&highlight=4+01+00
regards, monika
Thanks very much for your reply.
But I think that Upgrade exe file is for US only cause that include the radio upgrade as well.
So, are you able to downgrade your 4.00.21 easily?
I am not sure whether its worth to downgrade your device to 3.20.06 to see whether its a real problem with SD card. And to upgrade it to 4.00.21 again to verify it. It may happen only at some occasion as you know electronic device can never guarrentee functioning 100%.
Hope you can fix your device.
Cheers

Danger in changing radio rom?

Anyone know if there is potential brick-danger in changing a radio rom? I currently run the Cingular 2.25.0001 .. and was wondering if the T-mobile 2.19 was better and if it was safe to replace my G4 8125's radio rom with the T-mobile one..
Thanks

I had i scary moment in my first flashing days when i tried a radio only updater that didn't work and i lost the ability to connect to active sync. I then discovered phones could be flashed from boot loader and fixed it with a full official ROM.
But the answer is NO, a radio upgrade does not brick the phone and you can upgrade just the radio (gsm_data zone) by using an updater made for that purpose.
The question is: is the file well made? are the addresses correct?
Two choices:
Make your own radio updater. Easy these days with all the tools and info
Get an updater from a reliable source or from places with positive feedback by other members. I believe there is a thread for that in 'Wizard Upgrading' section
Hope it's clear, good luck.
cheers
Yea I flashed it to T-mobil radio 2.19 .. worked flawlessly.. i havent run into any problems flashing ANYTHING yet.. I think i am getting lucky.

Help ! Three Colour Screen...

I'm out of my depth and an need of some help to get my X7500 back into working order !
I upgraded my machine to AP4, carefully following the nicely documented instructions, and it worked a treat. The new interface looked great. However, for some reason my GPS application (i-GO Europe) wouldn't work at all. After searching the threads and not finding anything there, I thought it would be best to return to my old ROM version - the official HTC Advantage WM6 Upgrade. Naively I thought that this would be just as simple as running the Advantage_HTC_WWE_2.21.405.2_1.50.00.00_Ship executable - but I was wrong ! The update failed, and now I am left with a PPC with a pretty three colour screen...

Is there any way that I can recover my device from this state ?
You have spl3.5
very easy to solve
just plug your athena to the PC and install a rom for SPL3.5 , there are several good ones, since AP4 didn't work for you and I cannot remember if AP4 can be installer from boot loader, the easy thing should be install the latest Michiprima rom (SPL3.5 not 1.20)
if you wish to install a original rom in the future remember to use spl downgrader to go back to SPL1.20
As always take memory cards from the device before playing and please read

Tried the Michy R6.0 and it does look good. Still having problems with my GPS application though, so might have to go back to the original. Will play around with this one in the meantime.
Thanks for taking the time to make your suggestion.

In regard to the GPS have you upgraded your radio version above 1.5
Radio 1.57
or
Radio 1.58

Unfortunately not !
I ended up loading AP3, and my GPS application worked on that. Now I've gone back to the official WM6 ROM. When I have some time, I might reload the AP4 ROM and try the new versions of the radio - but I need a stable device at the moment.
Thanks again
i just remembered
i just remembered you have to disable htc home in AP4 for igo to work
Just load michys large htc home cab instead

Just an update for those interested. I'm now running AP4 with i-GO happily running away. Not sure I needed to update the Radio version, but you were right - I had to turn off the HTC HOME in Today.
Thanks for the help from those more experienced. It was greatfully received and, although I haven't had time to really use the upgraded device in anger yet, I am currently very happy with it.
Just one last thing. Have you got a link for the said 'michys large htc home cab', as that would be the icing on the cake to have that lovely Home available.

[Q] "Best" 6.35 radio for Europe/Greece

Hello all!
I've flashed Capychimp's RCRogers2.1 v3.0 ROM along with an 6.35.16.19 radio. In http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403 it is mentioned that when comparing radios the "... two last suffixes (631.2; 401.2) are regional numbers. These roms are different by regional content only. Other roms have same situation."
So, and if I understand correctly, the last two digits do not signify software version. However, in http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/605239/ it is mentioned that
Upgrade from 6.35.07.29 to a new version
You can upgrade radio version from 6.35.07.29 to 6.35.08.29 or 6.35.10.18 without wiping, reflashing or losing any data.
Click to collapse
Therefore, it seems that the last two digits here indicate version.
Which is true? For my ROM (see signature) which would be the best radio for Greece? The one I have right now? 6.35.10.18? Other? Any help will be appreciated.
You seem to be comparing versions number of radio and rom - which are not the same at all.
Anyways, 6.35.10.18 should work fine - the new radio that came with 2.1 seems to make troubles with my phone now, so I would maybe suggest not moving to that.

Actually not; comparison is on the grounds of different radios only.

Like I said, I already have 6.35.16.19 installed. It works perfectly. No FCs, no problems whatsoever. My original question is on the grounds on whether another radio, 6.35.10.18, would be more optimized for technologies used in Europe with regard to 3G. Or, perhaps, with regard to specific voice tuning for GSM in European countries.
In this context, is 6.35.10.18 (or some other radio) more "suited" for operation in Europe than 6.35.16.19?

Definitive Android compatible radio list ?

Hello all,
I have been searching for a list of Android compatible radios
as I know they vary from country to country but don't seem to be able to
find what I'm looking for.
I'm currently running 2.07.51.22_2 on UK Virgin Mobile and have flashed HSPL
to allow me to change radio to one suited to running Android, but have hit a brick
wall when it comes to finding the right one for my phone and service provider.
Can anyone advise which is correct for me please ?
Thanx peeps !
Anything over 2.08 all the way up to 2.15... What you have is incompatible with android. Anyone higher than yours will work.
