Definitive Android compatible radio list ? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello all,
I have been searching for a list of Android compatible radios
as I know they vary from country to country but don't seem to be able to
find what I'm looking for.
I'm currently running 2.07.51.22_2 on UK Virgin Mobile and have flashed HSPL
to allow me to change radio to one suited to running Android, but have hit a brick
wall when it comes to finding the right one for my phone and service provider.
Can anyone advise which is correct for me please ?
Thanx peeps !

Anything over 2.08 all the way up to 2.15... What you have is incompatible with android. Anyone higher than yours will work.

You could always put your phone into bootloader and flash a radio
How can i do that
how can i know wich radio do i need
You flash a radio the same way you would flash a rom. First of all you need USPL or HSPL on your device. I recommend you read these threads for guidance:
Dummies guide for flashing using USPL or HSPL
1.14.25.24 & Rilphone.dll radio thread
Blackstone Radio Flashing (wiki)
Available Blackstone Radios
I would start with radio 1.14.25.24 as this is latest blackstone radio
It doesnt work yet
please i need you to recommend me a rom to use
can i use the officil one from htc website?
and what else i can try to make my phone work again1

You have a vast choice of roms to use, either stock roms direct from HTC site or from the wiki here or cooked roms from this forum
Would be impossible for me to recommend one as everyone is different and your tastes may well be different from mine. Also you have different windows versions, i.e. wm6.1 & wm6.5. All I can say is try a few and make your own conclusions. At present I am currently using Throys WM6.5 R9 rom
I changed the rom and the radio still dont get signal
NO SERVICE!

You may find that the phone is stolen and phone networks have blocked the IMEI Number this maybe why you donot have any reception
Try asking your Network phone company if this phone is blocked
I Already call and no its not blocked by imei

Vodafone Users - Good News:

Vodafone have just released the 1.66Rom to their locked/branded phones:
http://devicehelp.vodafone.co.uk/firmwaredevice.php?ModelID=424&e=0#t=1
This isn't really news - there are already a couple of threads where this is being discussed
LOL someone posting without searching
to be fair I did search for "vodafone rom" and I saw nothing on the first set of threads that came up even those that were about 1.66 and today were all about hacked flashes.
no skin off my nose as my phone isn't even locked but I thought anyone who didn't know might benefit.
Don't be so quick to criticise!
Awesome! I don't care if this is old news, its new to me
Question, if my handset is already Vodafone uk, can I install this without doing the security thing (hspl?) ?
Also, will this upgrade my radio too, or would I do that with a separate radio ROM? And if so can you recommend a good one?

Yep you just connect your phone to windows mobile device center and run the file.
Not too clued up on the radio rom part..
Yes it will include rom, radio and progably spl too. No need for hspl, connect to PC, run teh exe, and dont forget to back up first!
thnx first time seeing it loool
will install now
No Joy for me just errors on connection after it resets your device to that stupid multi color screen.... Hmmm gonna try from my laptop might be this PC.

One more newbee question.

First i apologize for creating another new thread and disturbing you guys. But i took mytime going through the website and the tutorials, and it made me more confused.

A Rom is basically an operating system for your phone. A Custom/Cooked Rom is a Stock/Shipped Rom that has been stripped of clutter and tweaked to give the best performance. Custom Roms usually contain the latest updates and programs so are more stable and up to date and work better than stock roms that are supplied with your phone.
In my understanding, think of flashing as giving your phone more freedom and you only need to flash HARDSPL your device only "ONCE" to take advantage of the features that custom ROMs offer. You can hardspl ur device easily via usb cable (without a memory card), so read the post in d link above thoroughly n ask feel free 2 ask more questions.

The HPSL is what, for lack of a better term, "jailbreaks" the HD2. The ROMs are the operating systems of the phones. Radios are also an important thing, and they have something to do with how your phone interacts with the network.
Now, I'm a n00b myself, so anybody please feel free to correct any errors I made.

I want to make sure you're not getting confused on something here...
Are you trying to get your phone to the point where you can run non-official ROM's on it? That's what using HSPL and flashing is.
Or, are you trying to be able to use the phone with other carriers than T-Mobile? That requires unlocking (completely independent of HSPL/flashing), and that's not something that's there's a tutorial for you to do...you either need to call T-Mobile and tell them you need the unlock code, or if you aren't a T-Mobile customer you will need to use one of the various unlocking services you'll find on e-bay, etc.

The step you're trying there (clear data) is also known as a "hard-reset"...it wipes the data off your phone and returns it to the orginial state of whatever ROM you currently have flashed on it (in your case: Cleanex)....so to get it back the way it was when you bought it, you'll need to flash a stock T-Mobile ROM back on to it.

Yes, that's pretty much exactly how it works. You can find the official download for it at this link:
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/Filedownload.aspx?pid=leo
You'll have to enter your phone's IMEI number (located on a sticker beneath the battery) to verify that you have an HD2, and then it will let you download. It's pretty simple to do, but here's a set of detailed instructions if you need (which include the step of downloading from that link above):

I read in the forum that the ROMs don't unlock your phone. They are just customizations for whatever the purpose may be. I use MIRI v17.6 ROM so that I can run Android on my HD2 US. I'm only missing Microsoft Word Mobile. My HTC HD2 US is unlocked because I paid cash for it and I requested the unlock code from T-Mobile unlike my iPhone 3GS that is still locked even though I owed no money on it.
I have not read anything about unlocking (rooting in this forum?) your HD2 (I assume) in this forum. Remember, Google has the answer for virtually everything if you ask her.
I hope you slept well!

Also, if i may add, the HPSL3 is some kind of protection not to damage your phone in case you use the wrong ROM, I read. therefore, for the HD2 US, I watched on youtube how to install the HSPL3. Then I picked a ROM that suits my purpose and I flashed my HD2 (on youtube also). That's it. I did not have to bother installing a radio file because my ROM did not require it since I have the US hd2.

[Q] Which Radio version?

I have NAND Android installed on this phone and I'd like to update the phone to the latest version. But I am not sure which one as some of them works OK, while other doesn't work very well.
My HTC HD2 comes with the following info:
R - 2.07.51.22.2
G - 15.32.50.07U
D - 1.66.76641
Which version of radio should I go with? I am looking for one that has a *very* good 3G connection speed.
Thanks,
Out of all of the radio versions available, IMO the best is 2.15.50.
You can find it here
http://www.multiupload.com/QP0IWGY42F
People have reported that supposedly 2.14.00 gives better battery life but I didn't find this to be the case.
Depends on location and network Im afraid....
I could be wrong but I didnt think that the Radio you mentioned would allow you to run android from NAND.....
Either way... the popular ones are between 2.08.50.xx - 2.15.50.xx
The one I use is in my signature and gives me pretty good 3G reception...
Trial and error though Im afraid.
Sorry, forgot to mention that I am from UK and I'm using the T-Mobile network.

That doesn't really matter, all of the good Android radios (2.12.50 and above) will work fine with you, you can either use the one I recommended, or trial and error the other 3.
Thanks all, am currently testing 2.15.50.14

HTC HD2 TMOBILE - Flash stay in 0%

Hello, I try to flash my TMOBILE HTC HD2 that has the stock Rom SPL-3.05.1 and when i get to the flash point, the bar stay in 0%
Any ideas???
Other tools says I dont have correct SPL version, I have download the updated ROM from T-Mobile website and even chat with them. That ROM is the 3.14 but still same issue...please help...thank you so much
SPL 3.05.01 and not 3,03
Why are you posting in the Android subsection?
Was the rom made specifically for your t-mo device? Could be you're trying to flash an incompatible. (Though I am quite certain if that's the case, an error should pop-up)
