Hi,
I'm looking for an app which shows a weather icon in the notification area in additional to the Temp (not when the bar is pulled down, but just a little picture behind the temp, indicating conditions such as cloudy/rainy/sunny in the notification bar ) like WeatherIcon for Cydia (top right corner).

Maybe there's an app doing this already but I looked for it on the web and found nothing. Or if anyone would be able to dev this stuff, it would be great!
I'm looking for this as well. I'm starting to think a jailbroken iPhone is more customizable than an Android.

Ouch.. that hurt. The weather channel app, as well as a couple of others, display the weather on your status bar. I don't utilize this feature, so I'm not sure how they function; but with the weather app, find your location, then long press on it and set it as home location, and it will display the temperature on your status bar.
I would give you more info on the other, but again, I don't utilize this feature. All I did was google the questions ( http://lmgtfy.com/?q=android+weather+status+bar ) and there was the answer

Lol. Thanks desikilla.
Actually been searching for a while. I do use a weather app that allows me to have the temp in the status bar. We are actually looking for an app that will show the current conditions using an icon such as a cloud, sun, or a cloud with rain falling from it, etc.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA Premium App
the app you are looking for is called weather cast lite free in the market i use it and it shows weather icons for current conditions in your status bar or just temp
Look for an application in the Market called Weather Notification.

daman and bryan, thanks! Looks like this is what I am looking for.
I will check both of them out!
I agree with the OP, there needs to be an application like this for Android, there's NONE and it's weird because my friend texted me asking me if there was an application that showed the weather CONDITIION, and the TEMPERATURE on the titlebar (notification bar), we had an application like that for the old Sidekicks that were made from Danger, I'm surprised it's not made yet for Android, but it's made for a jailbroken iDevice lol.
I'm still looking for this also.
THREE LETTERS LOL. Almost every weather app has this features.

This app has both the icon & number
Weather,US Radar,Alerts,Quakes by Elecont software

GoWeather from godevteam works the best

Meteo Notifier has both the weather icon and the temperature but the only downside is that your reading the temperatures in Celsius and not Fahrenheit. That and some people have complained about it not auto-updating for some.

hey guys, ive had my nexus for a while, but i switched over from an iphone and on the iphone there was a plug in called sb settings which allowed you to swipe your finger across the status bar and a small control panel would drop down giving you options to dim your screen, turn wifi and other toggles on and off, and gave you your system info all without having to leave the current app you were on. i was wondering if there is such a thing for android, where you have a control panel in the notification drawer.?

A free app called 'Bar Control' will let you put shortcuts in the notification bar.
I use this with 'Switches', a paid toggling app, and a free app 'Wifi Status' (that warns you if you have wifi on but no connection to a network).
HTH
Quick Settings free on the market will also do this. Nice little program I use it every day.

+1, works great (although it could do with a UI uplift).

And it is FREE !

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL THREAD:
Hi,
Is anyone using "Extended Controls Widget"?
Did you find any issue with HTC Desire?
QR Code:
Thanks, problem in HTC Desire are fixed
Last Release: 3.1
Nice for the Desire supports ... but I have couple of suggestions:
1. Configurable "Brightness" control for 3 steps only and user can specify how much brightness for each step (I want to use 10% brightness for the lowest setting, 20% is too much for me).
2. Controls that when pressed will execute choosen applications. This should work like a shortcut for application. It would be awesome to have this! For example: I have an app to activate certain "profile" and I want to launch it from the Extended Control widget.
This widget has a lot more potential. Think about my suggestions above
why do these contorl widgets never come with mobile data widget?
This one has.

Thanks Gogol for your suggests!! We immediately working on
@ supasye: there is the control called APN that switches the data network.
Where to download, can't find it in market?!?
great widget, I only miss more configuration for brightness (too many steps for easy use) and auto brightness support
Dammit Gogol, you find some really nice widgets
cool.. have a go at SwitchPro Widget as well...
How about:
Dazzle Configurable Switcher
http://www.appbrain.com/app/org.hermit.dazzle
Just got Switch Pro. Handy widget.
Tried to get Extended Controls but got stuck on payment authorization and failed.
The functions and UI look almost identical fwiw.

Does Extended Controls Widget support On / Off of cellular/mobile data ?
Or does it just take you to the setting page for this ?
Dazzle Configurable Switcher only take you to the setting page
^I've only found the stock widget able to do that.

I tried both and ended up going with Extended Controls Widget.
The only things I'd like to see in a future release are:
Turn off the widget's background. SwitchPro has this and it works well with dark wallpapers
Flashlight switch to turn on LED
Also if you remove a widget and try to add it, it sometimes gets confused and tells you you need to add a widget you're not currently using. Have to reinstall to get around that.
Aside from that it's great!
yes, would love to see...
* a transparency slider option
* some way to change the settings of the widget already onscreen? (a shortcut in the applications folder or something?)
* a way to arange the order of the widgets
other than that great, i bought it
Main reason that i'll take Switchpro over anyhting else is that is has a 7 button widget iso just 5.
really love this widget!
this that I would suggest for future versions:
transparent widget
ability to toggle wireless tether on froyo
Add the ability to switch to auto with backlighting
So far great app. def. worth the 79c!

Extended Controls will shove as many buttons into the widget you're building as you want to put in there. You could throw 11 buttons in there if you wanted to (and I have, for fun).
Really? Nice In the same space as 4 regular icons, right? Then they really only need to add skins indeed! ( esp. transparent )

That would be sweet. Pretty much the only feature of my long gone jailbroken I*phone (sbsettings) that I miss was activating that screen with a swipe without exiting the focused application. It must be possible in android. Any info?
Quicksettings?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
There is an app in the market called "Quick Settings" which can be placed in the Ongoing notification dropdown that is customizable to include everything on the power control widget and more.
I am a fan of "power strip", a great paid app.
Quick Settings is really nice. Thanks y'all.
FYI, I've also used NOTIFi by Sisedi Media. It's skinnable and has a polished look that's a little different from the normal android UI.
Try QuickDesk Beta. It's a single extra homescreen that you access by double tapping the home button. Can put any widgets or shortcuts that you can put on your home screen. That way, all you have to do is double tap your home button, use the power strip, then hit back to get out of QuickDesk Beta and you'll be back in your original app.
The MIUI ROM has this as a fixed element at the bottom of the drop down.

The amount of times i've wished I didn't have to return to Home Screen to toggle GPS / WIFI etc - this is the absolute perfect solution. If it had customisable entries where we could launch a task switcher - WIN WIN!
+1 hopefully.
Perhaps this thread should be moved to Andoid General for greater visibility?
Steve.
theres an app thats called "in app toggle wifi" or something where you just have to hold the search softkey for a couple of seconds. even better in that it is hidden.
A good alternative is quickdesk by ruqqq, I've set it to bring up its "screen" on home double tap.
quickdesk is awesome. Not only can use power control but any app that you want without leaving any application. love it
Just noticed that the galaxy tab has this too.

Guys I found a widget called Battery & Memory Status Pro that works for now. It's just a 1x1 text widget but it does give you a bunch of system information. It's not nearly as nice as System Info Widget but it will have to do until I find something better.
that;ll do for now, i would prefer a 1x4 or something but this is cool. Not a huge fan of the needle look either
when it says 32GB and the needle is half way....?

One of the widgets that it comes with is all text based, that's the one I use.
I usually try to stay away from most widgets, especially system info ones, as they ware down the battery.
I do like "Quick System Info Pro", it allows you to enable statues in the notification bar. I also have "Android System Info" installed, and I just tried the widget, it's not bad.

elixir 2 widgets ftw. This is my "system" page. Everything I need or want including app shortcuts and uber customizable. I also use a 1x2 screen brightness elixir widget on my homescreen set to auto and custom settings 13 26 45 65 for the environments I use my device in and a volume one on my WidgetLocker lock screen. Never uses over 1% of battery.
Bump for visibility
I m facing the same issue, this was by far my best widget and was on all my devices but now i can not use it anymore
Anyone know if there is anything like this out?

Windows 8 originally had the battery level and the time by the user name on the Start Screen, it may be a registry hack to add it back.
