Who thinks sprints upgrade isn't as good as it should be. Your with them for awhile and when due for a upgrade after 2 years but is it really a upgrade.
Most of the free phones are older and not new lol there older no one wants them thats why there free.
You get the same thing a discount a new customer gets 150 off with a 2 year new contract WTF.You would think after being with them for awhile you get a better discount that would be nice.
So what do you guys think? Keep it on topic what you feel about the upgrade. Also without getting insane about money there making and losing.
Just a general question no flaming or you will be reported since this isn't a flame war just a general thought on what everyone thinks about it.

Because then people would constantly whine that new customers and old customers get different treatment. You want different treatment, go to Radioshack or BB.

Lol no just needs to be called something other then upgrade. Kinda dumb calling it a upgrade when your not really upgrading at all after all the money you pay for your bill over the course of 2 years.

So you don't think you're upgrading your phone from an old one to a newer one with more features? The money you pay over the course of 2 years is so Sprint can make their money back on the money they LOST selling you a discounted phone.
I'm sorry but this thread fails. Lol. An upgrade means going from old to new. From good, to better. You're going from an older phone to a newer phone. A good phone to a better phone. An UPGRADE.
It's the same with every other carrier. Sprint is no different.

Lol not really a fail was a question to see what everyone was thinking that was all.
I see how alot of people see it even tho sprint makes a thousands of dollars every 2 years off you no one seems to care that the upgrade is ****ty lol sometimes it's not worth using the upgrade cause there is nothing worth buying at the moment sometimes the phone your using is better then whats out. So each to the own.
Was a general question doing a study on thoughts of people who like the upgrade and those who don't so no FLAMING IF YOU DO FLAME YOU WILL BE REPORTED AND YOUR COMMENT DELETED. SO KEEP IT NICE AND TO THE POINT. THANKS.
Well....... I mean.... no carrier is just gonna give you a free phone when you upgrade. Unless you pick a basic crappy phone. They're giving you a 300-400 dollar discount on a phone... that's generous if you ask me.
I can see how you might think a customer who's been with sprint for 2 or more years should get a nicer discount, yeah, that would be nice. But that doesn't mean we aren't upgrading our phones.

Nicer discount would be nice you kinda sucks that they make there money back off the phone in 6 months and profit off you for the next year and half lol.

They don't make their money back in 6 months... it takes a minimum of 12 months to make their money back, after that is when they start making profit, assuming you're not taking advantage of the yearly upgrades in which then, they barely make any money back off of you.

Leta see that's 1260 a year minus the 350 they ate for you getting the evo ($910), plus running the stores, network, payrolls, and what ever other expenses im sure they make a slim profit margin in there somewhere.
I worked at Walmart they said out of all the expenses they only make 2% profit off a sale.

Some of the discount carriers make you pay for the phone in full, but the plans are about half as much and the quality of service is sub par.

Im officially selling the ol hero. idk when im sending it off but it will be soon. I gots to get the money for the evo I just wanted to make this thread to see myself whose leaving and just to say how much fun this has been.
so thanks to all the people, devs, and friends i made on the hero thread.
and this is also going to be another "whos going thread"
my useless post of the month
btw i also want this thread to be a "post your awkward comments thread" as you can see, damage and i worked together on his first rom and i think he really fell in love with me good times. so if you wanna go back and do some research on your own posts, find the weird comments you or someone else left and tell us the story!
I think I am going to pre-order one tomorrow.
but.....
Well, since you're leaving, send me money to buy an EVO!
I will be joining you if I can get my hands on one from Sprint June 4
even if I had a bunch of money I think the extra $10 a month would still piss me off.
I understand forcing people to get an unlimited data plan. These phones really need it and Sprint is extremely reasonably with their data plans unlike other services. However, I just see the extra $10 a month as a rip off and an excuse to try and get a quicker ROI.

I can't get the evo due to the fact that I have no money left over when I pay all my bills (cable, sprint, gas, electric) and buy food, so... yeah. Hope you guys like your evos
not getting the evo for the fact that i know already that phone wont last with me, the screen is way to big for my pocket, and it doesnt seem like it has durability, if its anything like that huge hd2 it wont last 3 months in my house, plus i keep my phone in my pocket, trying out my sisters hd2 was so awkward when i sit down i would be scared it would break because its that big. im going to wait for something iphone sized that has snap dragon with android. you guys have fun with that big ass screen.

I don't "think" I'll be going to a different phone, until at least October. Not to sound crass, but money is not an issue (I'm probably older than most on this board), but I just can't bring myself to drop $450+ on a phone.
I've only been with Sprint for as long as the Hero has been released (moved to Sprint on day 1), so I don't really have any upgrade options until my year has past.
I too plan on making the switch, and am going to pay outright $450 for it. Also, for everyone being unsure of the $10, if you think about it...your still paying less than you would if you were at Verizon, AT&T, or T-mobile. Sprint has the best phone plans in the market and quite frankly I care more about my plan than my phone, but with the Evo arriving, its a little hard to pass this up.
Secondly, if the $10 bothers you, see if you can get a student or company discount, that would counteract the mandatory $10 you would have to pay.
I have a 27% discount, so I can't really complain.
I think I will buy the evo on ebay once all the crazyness goes away. I also want to see the issues first I'm sure there will be some. I figure if the retail on the phone is 450, then within a couple months the phone will be $375 around that time. Even the high prices are coming down on the Google I/O phones on ebay. We all know the issues with the hero when it came out, so why rush.

10 free EVO's and an OD huh?
I didn't realize you had such a good sense of humor...
dont ask for much do you? With verizon comes the cellphone gestapo with charges for every service imaginable. and IMO ive had MUCH better signal with my sprint than my verizon phone.... BUT if you get 10 free EVOs then your the man! Goodluck.
good luck dude...
I'm doubting you'll get 10 free Evo's, so you'll probably go to Verizon and lose your 4G...
Good luck on Verizon.....
Sprint's first offer was free Samsung Moments or Heros. I told them that wasnt apples to apples so I figured i would through it out here... My bill is 1100 dollars a month so the way I figure asking for free EVOs is not out of the question when i am signing a guaranteed 2 year contract that is worth 26,400 dollars over the life of that 2 years.

btw I doubt this will go thru, so good luck with Verizon. Doesn't sound like you really wanna go over to them or you would have already done it and wouldn't be trying to play Sprint into your hands with this thread.
I think that's reasonable as long as you've been with them for a significant amount of times. They throw a lot of free stuff out like that for loyal customers.

In our logic that might seem reasonable but from a company stand point taking a hit upfront like that isn't something they tend to lean towards. Maybe buy 5 get 5 would be something to shoot for? Not to mention where are these Evo's coming from? It's hard enough to find one or two....

Not at all... I feel this is a Very Valid request that Sprint should Honor, If I was renewing one phone on a cheap shared plan Maybe I understand if they dont want to wheel and deal... When Ive got 10 lines to renew 9 of those on everything plans and an unlimited data card, they would be foolish not to make this deal....

Obviously there is more to this story if you're saying that you even [just so happen to] know Sprints system and their key codes for discounts. With all of your inside knowledge, maybe I should message you about some codes to get my bill lower
EDIT: I am all for getting the best deal and I hope this works out for you. It just seems that you're playing a game of smoke and mirrors by (a) posting on a public forum for business needs and (b) noting that you know the codes to make it all work in the Sprint system. It almost seems like you're looking for a gullible employee to get it into the system for you meaning that Sprint will have to honor it for you at the possible cost of some form of discipline to the employee that puts it in.

Do you have 4G in your area? You might want to wait till later this year when VZ rolls out LTE, if they do in your area anyway. I don't think they will have LTE compatible phones anytime soon however, but since you want an overdrive you should take it into consideration. You could also wait for the Epic4g, and get a mix of evos and epics in case any of your employees like keyboards. They both have FFC so you can easily do video chats. By that time the evos will be older and they might be more willing to give you free ones, especially if they actually have them in stock, lol. Its hard to find one of them, let alone 10.

You do realise there's a HUGE difference between an iPhone and... well... any other phone, right? People flock to iPhones like gnats to a sweaty forehead. And not even just the US. Hell, i sold my iPhone 4 that i had since they came out to someone in Russia for $450. That was enough to cover the cost of the iPhone when i originally bought it, PLUS the Atrix. I've only ever seen one person NOT in an AT&T store that had an Atrix. Just about every smartphone you see on the street is some version of the iPhone. And with the 3GS now being $49.... I'd imagine that ratio will be even higher. People don't know how to find a good phone. They know what is crammed down their throat no matter where they turn... and that just happens to be any Apple product, really.
Hell... look on TV. You see at least 5 iPhone commercials for every single Atrix commercial... and they advertise the lapdock more than the phone itself it seems.

Yes. Check their website for the exact amount.
BTW, they give this phone for free in Europe with contract.
So I called T-Mobile and got approved for an early upgrade since i've been a customer since 2004.
The only thing is I found out they no longer bill in a 3 month cycle but make you pay upfront for the phone.
I'm looking at the Galaxy S2 and I don't have $300 upfront to pay for the damn thing.

The only thing is I found out they no longer bill in a 3 month cycle but make you pay upfront for the phone.
I'm looking at the Galaxy S2 and I don't have $300 upfront to pay for the damn thing.

You might as well just say screw T-Mobile and buy one off eBay for $150-$200 more lol.
Thats what i've said..
Only good thing about getting it through T-Mobile is the warranty.
They should retain that billing feature for good customers...I've been with them since 2004.... am I really going to bail on them over a phone? Stupid...
Literally paying 300 is almost 3/4 of my paycheck... I mean yea right... I'm not right. I'll just use my Galaxy S... Thing works fine anyways.
Or you can get one off craigslist for 300 with no contract like I did.

I agree. The payment thing was great for them. It made people MORE likely to jump into a new phone and extend their contract. Pretty stupid business decision on their part.
But they've been going downhill for a while.
I'm thinking that its about time for this business model to die anyway. I hate being tied to a carrier, and I want a phone that actually gets upgrades.
The only thing that made the 2 yr. upgrade worth it was the fact that the phone was automatically cut in half. $600 retail, down to $250. They simply early upgraded me for being a customer since 2004... so cool..
But what I don't have is $300 to spare on a phone... or if I decide I don't want to be tied to a carrier (which doesn't matter because I can't use a T-Mobile phone or Verizon or on ATT 3g band)
I thought it was very convenient to go into the store, have to pay around $80 upfront, then have the remaining balance split up over a 3 month period... so people who don't have excess money to spend that often can go ahead and get an upgrade every so often..
In either case, this has just made me double think, and I will keep my Vibrant probably for another year or two now. Nothing wrong with it, could use better battery life though.
I am going to wait for if and when GS2 will show up for free with an eligible upgrade on Amazon or Wirefly. Get the 1800 mah epic touch battery for the time being if you are concerned about battery life.
So save $100 each month and after 3 months you can pay up front for it? I don't see what the big deal is.

Craigslist has SGSIIs for $300?
You must live in a nice place.
In my area I see them for about $350-500. So yes, they are going for around $300 on craigs.
Any any case, what does the price of this phone have to do with the topix of tmobile no longer billing monthly for phone upgrades?

OP was complaining about them not splitting the price of the phone up and I mentioned that for 300 he could get an sgs2 off contract. Dude you quoted was just surprised you could find them that cheap I guess.

I have a business account and whenever I purchase a phone they just add it to my bill. I don't have to pay upfront.

I made the same decision except I might go for the sgs3. I bought the 1800 mah Anker battery on Amazon (sorry, my links are still disabled) and I'm really happy with it. I get about 20 hours moderate use running ics passion v12 at 1000 MHz on conservative.

20hours? Hmm I get like 2 days if I really stretch it. I also don't use my phone excessively or for games often.

Trying to get your post count up?
Would be nice if they brought back the 3 month billing split for New equipment. It made it nice and easy to split it across three billing cycles...

Yes!
LOL!!
Back to the OP, I'm annoyed that TMo didn't offer the SGS2 to me for $100. They were running a special on "new customers" only, but wanted to charge me $349 to "upgrade" my line. I've been with them for over 6 years and 5 lines on the account.
Goes to show how they take care of their existing customers. Glad I didn't upgrade my contract as I'm thinking of going to Verizon and getting the Galaxy Nexus as soon as one of my other line's contract is up.
OK I'm not asking if the phone is worth $200 to YOU. I'm asking about me. I'm in high school and have a fair bit of money, and I don't really spend it on much since I got out of computer gaming. But I know there are always those people who will say "save every penny you can for your future". However, my Infuse is increasingly pissing me off. What do you all think?
Another question: When do you think AT&T will start pre-orders? If I do upgrade, I want it on release day
Big upgrade from your infuse , go for it. What else are you going to use the money on

It'll be worth it if you spend a lot of time on it surfing the Web / Facebook..
The large screen will save your eyes!
But beware you might get teased about the large size when you hold it to your face in public.
$200 is going to be the price you'll be paying for any cutting edge phone that you want to buy in the first few months of launch. So going by that, you really have no choice in the matter. Go buy the phone with no guilt.
Buy it. You will only live once.

I don't get it. Here in Portugal you pay for this high-end and they are 600€ locked to an operator, which is 782.64$ --' .
Only you can decide if it's worth it. If you don't need one handed use,it fits in your pockets, and spend most of your time looking at the screen, it doesn't get much better than the note.

So you're asking US if its worth it for YOU? Only you can tell if its worth it for you.
If you're infuse is always pissing you off, then sure get a new phone. If you don't have to pay rent or for a car or for anything, then sure why not get it? If you're not moving out anytime soon I personally don't see a problem with it.
However you have to make your own financial decisions.

It'll also be locked here in the US to the carrier/operator. The price of $200 (probably more than likely closer to $300) that we're referring to is subsidized/on-contract. By all means, unsubsidized here, it'll most likely be ~$800 as well.

Oh with a contract
400 bucks
it says on Cellular that its 400 bucks with 100 dollar rebate and if you preorder online you get the instant 100 bucks, dang thats high for a on contract price
It is worth it to me to be able to dump Verizon. Hopefully the unlocked price won't be too high.

Next year I'll be in high school, and I'm also thinking about buying this device.
Actually, it could be great for school. It's big, and with the S Pen you can make it your notebook.
Holy ****. What the hell.
Downgraded resolution, camera, and everything else is the same except quad core and RAM (which are useless upgrades for at least another year)
What is wrong with samsung?
