Since I am a new member and can not post a response in the dev forum, I'm posting this here.
I'm currently on the Cm7 RC1 build, but I have updated my baseband to the newest baseband from the 2.3.3 build.
I am currently on baseband I9020XXKB1.
I have been reading in some posts about a new baseband I9020XXKB3 which is supposed to be much better. But I saw someone post about this being only for european phones ?
I was looking for some calcification on the issue.
I am on T-mobile USA, so would it be better if i updated from KB1 to KB3 or remained on KB1
Definitely KB3.
Everything looks better with this version. A must if you plan to flash Voodoo kernel to get rid of "low contrast" or yellow tint issue after upgraded to 2.3.3.
I have the same question . I I'm running now kb1. Will it be better if I use kb3???

I just updated from kb1 to kb3. Don't notice too much of a difference yet. But still I guess its nice to have the latest and greatest.
Give it a shot. Updating is as easy as flashing a zip in recovery.

flashed the KB3 baseband on cm7 RC1.
I was on the KB1 baseband and applied the KB3 baseband thru clockwork mod.
I am on t-mobile USA and I can not get a 3G connection. All I can get is an EDGE connection...
Any suggestions to obtain a 3G connection ??
Thanks

Check your APN settings in the phone's setting app? Not sure where they're at in Cyanogen, but there should be an option to check them, modify them.
Sorry New using up first 10 I dont like this new color scheme at all 2.3.3 radio on cm7 was complete difference picks up signal immediately at start and im getting 3g at my job where i wasnt before
thats KB1 T-Mo US
Same question here,
I have a T-Mobile phone with KB1, should i replace it to KB3?
Build number is GRH78C (2.3.2).
Thanks.
Okay what do I change the APN settings to ?
I also thought baseband version only affected the phones modem ?
What all does the baseband affect ?
Were can I download KB3 from i have been looking and not able to find it

my i9020 bought in usa which is using in spain have some reboots on cm7 #11 using supercurio voodooo kernel and radio kb3 now i've changed to kb1 and seems all is ok
I don't know if radio was the problem but for the moment seems yes..
What is the radio version before kb1?
unable to update...during the process it just aborts.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated
I still use JK8 with 2.3.3, because KB1 and KB3 has too little voice when calling.

What exactly do you mean by that ? Low earpiece volume ?
Hello guys,
what about the new KD1? I have it on my nexus 9020 after updating to 2.3.4.
Someone knows if there are some improvement in this release ?
thanks in advance.
hey, im in sweden, currently using KD1 should i use anything alse?
I was using KD1 for quite a while but I kept getting radio dumps...I've since tried the KC1 (the one that is supposedly only for Korean carriers) and found it to be far the fastest and most reliable even in low service areas. Anyone else in Canada finding the same or tried any radios that they found better?
I have been diligently searching for a thread to pop up along the lines of "GPS FIX" But I can't find any. I just wanna know if there is a definitive fix in the nightlies or not?
Not really. Some people are replacing their gps framework with one from an early nightly with generally working GPS. Other than that it seems different radios etc. Are having varying results.

Bad news here, I am on cm7 nightly 17, still without GPS( It worked only once).
The once worked method, which is replacing gps.vision.so from nightly #4 no longer works.

Yea this is how its been for several nightlies. GPS works on first reboot, but it doesn't work if you turn it off then back on again. I'm on #17 too.

This is the issue I had. I didnt mind replacing the gps.vision.so from Nightly #4 into the new Nightly's but now thats not even working on Nightly #17. It seems the GPS issue is getting progressively worse.
I'm on RC2 and was able to get my GPS working by flashing the latest AUS radio image (12.28h.60.140f_26.06.02.27). Before flashing it I was still on the old version from tmobile (12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15). After flashing the AUS radio image my GPS started working but I was having problems with the reliability and speed of my data connection, even standing less than 800' from a T-mobile tower I was getting 1.5Mb/s download at best and it would only come in bursts. At that point I flashed the T-mobile image (12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26) from the OTA update and my data problems were fixed, started getting a steady connection and 4Mb/s+ download standing in the exact same spot, AND my GPS was still working. I've rebooted my phone several times since then I used the GPS for about 2 hours strait yesterday so it seems to be persistent and stable.
I have found that if I leave my GPS ON before I flash a new nightly or ROM, that it works fine. I have only ran into the GPS issue a few times but that was because I had it off before I flashed a new build. Never messed switching RADIOs or anything.
Here is what I have done to fix issues:
-If I flashed a new CM7 Gingerbread ROM without GPS ON prior to the flash, I usually go back to CM6 and turn GPS ON and then reflash the CM7 ROM and it works.
-Yesterday had a strange issue though, I went to Flash a new CM7 nightly and sure enough I forgot to leave GPS ON. So I went back to CM6 and tried to turn GPS on and it didn't work. So I then Flashed one of the MIUI ROMs and that still didn't work. So then I tried Flashing the newest Nightly from CM again and it worked very wierd.
That has been my experience with this GPS issue. Some how I have managed to fix it myself without too much trouble. Hopefully this helps people with these issues.

This worked for me also. I backed up RC2 with gps on, flashed MIUI, and then restored and blam it worked! thanks, I needed this so badly.
I had this problem for a while as well. Flashing CM7 #3 did the trick for me. I downloaded a copy of xboarder56's stock GB test ROM today and I have to say it works flawlessly! Smooth and fast and with working GPS.

So from the input I gather that nightlies have not yet fixed the problem. Since I don't need the GPS until the summer I guess I can wait a month or two before searching again...
Gps works fine for me.
Sent from my G2 running Cyanogenmod 7.
Fixed the GPS issue on CM7 by upgrading the radio:
Vision_RADIO_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17. It works just fine in the US.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OKYRIPQW
To flash radio you must have radio s-off using gfree.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764
You need to downgrade to the stock kernel or CM 6.1.0 for gfree to work.
I'm not sure what the problem is either, but I decided to leave the GPS/Navigation running over one night. When I woke up, the GPS fixed itself. I haven't had a problem since then.
use these basic steps to try and fix the gps:

But does it work when you turn GPS on/off/on after rebooting? My GPS works fine after flashing a new radio till I turn it off and back on again.

Edit: I got it to fail after flipping it on and off a bunch of times. Sigh.

Is it possible to change the radio on the Xperia Play? I have been having some major Wifi issues on here.. 2.3.3 breaks Wifi, and flashing 2.3.2 fixes it.. is it possible to keep 2.3.3 but 'downgrade' the radio?
If i disable data traffic at home., it appears to stay wifi connected.. weird, but a workaround for now.

Are you on the stock images, or on one of the dev's ROMs? I heard there were issues on FXP/CM7 and on FTS for a bit with one of the kernels, but I think that might have been resolved.
If you are on stock images, not sure why to tell you. You are using the R800a or which model? is it Bootloader locked and/or simlocked? (I have to ask because you don't list a model in your profile)

Generic UK 2.3.2, rooted, worked great for weeks, then OTA to 2.3.3 (xloud) and the problem comes up.. I had reverted back to 2.3.2 because of this issue before, but hoped it would resolve itself I guess.
The new baseband with 2.3.3 (xloud update) cripples my Wifi at all locations (home, work, other homes). It worked perfectly in 2.3.2. Is this something I can revert back to somehow? I am currently on Generic UK, rooted, locked bootloader.
Im having exactly the same problem with my wifi randomly dropping signal mid downloads and whenever it feels like it since the 2.3.3 update. Im hoping that 2.3.4 will fix this. Mine also was perfect on 2.3.2...
Anyone know if the wifi is in the fix list of 2.3.4, or can anyone tell me if its a solid wifi experience in 2.3.4
It took me about 10 retrys to download a gameloft game yesterday due to this buggy 2.3.3 wifi which isnt good enough!

Other ROM's built on 2.3.3 that I have tried also have this problem (obviously?). I'm using CM FXP30 atm and haven't had any WiFi issues at all.
Also I cannot comment on 2.3.4 fixing the WiFi issues, but if it does then a custom rom built on 2.3.4 is win/win
If you do a nandroid backup of you 2.3.3 rom, then flash the full .tft file of the 2.3.2 rom, then format /system and use the advanced restore function in CWM to restore /system partition, you will keep the 2.3.2 radio on 2.3.3/2.3.4.

I noticed some folks had perfectly functioning tablets except for the GPS issue and were concerned upgrading to JSS15Q might introduce multi-touch or other issues.
They might currently be on JWR66N or JSS15J and just want the GPS fix and nothing else.
I put together a fix that will accomplish just that.
It has been tested on JWR66N and JSS15J.
I will warn you that I've made my best effort to make sure this doesn't cause additional issues, but you always take a risk when making changes to an otherwise working system, although in this case, I consider it small.
If you are already running custom recovery, ignore the instructions below, just flash as any other update.zip
You need your bootloader to be unlocked.
You need to one-time load TWRP (or CWM) into memory but do NOT need to overwrite your existing stock recovery.
You do NOT need to be rooted.
Downloads
download TWRP custom recovery
rename to twrp.img and place in your adb (platform-tools) directory
copy update-GPS-lock-fix.zip to your tablet's virtual sdcard
Within command prompt in your adb (platform-tools) directory
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot boot twrp.img
Within TWRP
install update-GPS-lock-fix.zip
reboot (do not choose to install SuperSU unless you want it)
I am willing to give it a try in a day or two if you don't get enough people to test this, I'd do it now but I upgraded to JSS15Q already so I'll have to reflash the previous version and I have some assignments to finish first.
Sort of off topic, but as someone who had very good touchscreen response on JSS15J and now has minor issues on JSS15Q, is there any way for me to extract and apply the touchscreen settings from JSS15J update into anything in the future? This is assuming that Google uses the touchscreen settings from JSS15Q in future updates since they appear to consider them a "fix".
Anyway, thanks a lot for creating this patch for us.
I don't know if the touchscreen firmware is flashed onto the tablet by the kernel persistently or loaded everytime it starts, but the touchscreen firmware is contained in the kernel.
Theoretically you may be able to get JSS15J touchscreen behavior by using the JSS15J kernel with your JSS15Q ROM.
However, if the touchscreen firmware is flashed directly into hardware and the versions can only go up, then you are stuck with the JSS15Q touchscreen firmware.
So basically try flashing the JSS15J kernel and see if the touchscreen behavior changes.
If my device is rooted, can I just flash it normally?

Hello sfhub ...
I'm in a unique situation here. I'm on Slimbean beta3 which is based on JSS15Q and the fixes should be in place. However, something
is lost in translation and the GPS issue is still there. So I applied your fixes and (so far) it appears to fix the GPS issue.
I don't know what you did there, can you explain ? Did you just just pull the google fixes off their release ?
Thanks.

I extracted the GPS firmware and made it available to previous releases.
It should theoretically work with any ROM as long as it is based on stock.

You extracted the GPS firmware from JSS15Q?
Yes.
This fix appears to be working well.
Removed testing from title.
Given that the JSS15Q touchscreen firmware is a one-way street, no going back, there may be more interest in this solution to the GPS issue, especially if your touch screen in working acceptably well on JWR66N or JSS15J.
Navigated a couple of long trips today and worked like a charm.
Thanks.
Such a clever idea !
it does work
argh, so the fix worked perfectly, GPS finally works for me!! thank you!
But I am getting spammed with "Bluetooth Share has stopped" messages so the system is unusable. I will reflash the original CM, apparently bluetooth is broken by the fix.
Any ideas?
EDIT: False alarm, it had nothing to do with this fix. It was entirely related to a Bluetooth Audio "Fix".

If latter, to help others, what OS were you running?
