I have been diligently searching for a thread to pop up along the lines of "GPS FIX" But I can't find any. I just wanna know if there is a definitive fix in the nightlies or not?
Not really. Some people are replacing their gps framework with one from an early nightly with generally working GPS. Other than that it seems different radios etc. Are having varying results.

Bad news here, I am on cm7 nightly 17, still without GPS( It worked only once).
The once worked method, which is replacing gps.vision.so from nightly #4 no longer works.

Yea this is how its been for several nightlies. GPS works on first reboot, but it doesn't work if you turn it off then back on again. I'm on #17 too.

This is the issue I had. I didnt mind replacing the gps.vision.so from Nightly #4 into the new Nightly's but now thats not even working on Nightly #17. It seems the GPS issue is getting progressively worse.
I'm on RC2 and was able to get my GPS working by flashing the latest AUS radio image (12.28h.60.140f_26.06.02.27). Before flashing it I was still on the old version from tmobile (12.21.60.09b_26.02.01.15). After flashing the AUS radio image my GPS started working but I was having problems with the reliability and speed of my data connection, even standing less than 800' from a T-mobile tower I was getting 1.5Mb/s download at best and it would only come in bursts. At that point I flashed the T-mobile image (12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26) from the OTA update and my data problems were fixed, started getting a steady connection and 4Mb/s+ download standing in the exact same spot, AND my GPS was still working. I've rebooted my phone several times since then I used the GPS for about 2 hours strait yesterday so it seems to be persistent and stable.
I have found that if I leave my GPS ON before I flash a new nightly or ROM, that it works fine. I have only ran into the GPS issue a few times but that was because I had it off before I flashed a new build. Never messed switching RADIOs or anything.
Here is what I have done to fix issues:
-If I flashed a new CM7 Gingerbread ROM without GPS ON prior to the flash, I usually go back to CM6 and turn GPS ON and then reflash the CM7 ROM and it works.
-Yesterday had a strange issue though, I went to Flash a new CM7 nightly and sure enough I forgot to leave GPS ON. So I went back to CM6 and tried to turn GPS on and it didn't work. So I then Flashed one of the MIUI ROMs and that still didn't work. So then I tried Flashing the newest Nightly from CM again and it worked very wierd.
That has been my experience with this GPS issue. Some how I have managed to fix it myself without too much trouble. Hopefully this helps people with these issues.

This worked for me also. I backed up RC2 with gps on, flashed MIUI, and then restored and blam it worked! thanks, I needed this so badly.
I had this problem for a while as well. Flashing CM7 #3 did the trick for me. I downloaded a copy of xboarder56's stock GB test ROM today and I have to say it works flawlessly! Smooth and fast and with working GPS.

So from the input I gather that nightlies have not yet fixed the problem. Since I don't need the GPS until the summer I guess I can wait a month or two before searching again...
Gps works fine for me.
Sent from my G2 running Cyanogenmod 7.
Fixed the GPS issue on CM7 by upgrading the radio:
Vision_RADIO_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17. It works just fine in the US.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OKYRIPQW
To flash radio you must have radio s-off using gfree.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=855764
You need to downgrade to the stock kernel or CM 6.1.0 for gfree to work.
I'm not sure what the problem is either, but I decided to leave the GPS/Navigation running over one night. When I woke up, the GPS fixed itself. I haven't had a problem since then.
use these basic steps to try and fix the gps:

But does it work when you turn GPS on/off/on after rebooting? My GPS works fine after flashing a new radio till I turn it off and back on again.

Locks on within 5 seconds after reboot and turning gps on and off.

I was having GPS issues on EVERY rom I tried prior to remembering something I learned with my Epic 4g (Galaxy S).
I first Odin'd back to stock and when I did I Re-Partitioned and clicked Phone EFS Clear (this seemed to fix the GPS issue we were having on Epic) in Odin.
After this I flashed the EC09 modem with Heimdall (make sure you only use the modem.bin file when putting it in modem box).
Then I flashed CWM4 and then reflashed MIUI. I have since upgraded and downgraded MIUI multiple times and my gps always locks in less than 10seconds (make sure to use GPS Status to download GPS data on your first use).
The problem seems to lie with us flash addicts that like to try every single combo of every single rom and modem. The flashing and reflashing of modems seems to do something that screws with the GPS, I have since learned to find a modem that I like and stick with it, you can flash and reflash roms all day (in CWM) and it does not seem to effect the GPS (for me at least). I hope this helped people out.

edit: And one more thing, be forewarned you have to do *228 to reactivate the phone, and I even had to call Verizon and speak with tech support to fix my data but it only took them about 45 seconds and I was back up.

My GPS is awesome. Both TKSGB and leanKernel worked fine in getting mine to work better. Using TSM Resurrection (although I'll be switching to PWGB soon due to stability issues).
Is jt's kernel still having problems with wifi and 3g not working when turning the screen on? I got tired of toggling airplane mode last time I tried it.

Hello
I have been roaming around for like a year or so now without registering cause i didn't had any problems following stuffs from here. But now...i have like a huge problem with my Wifi and BT. Around 3 weeks ago i flashed the BeatMod ICS ROM and everything worked just fine...then one day my phone started freezing at lockscreen...like it would start up, but after pushing the power button to lock my phone it won't turn on anymore (except soft buttons)...Then i went back to stock 2.2, made S-OFF, then ENG-OFF and flashed a radio (i can't recall which one) cause i tought that was the problem...indeed that seemed to fix my lockscreen problem..but then once my phone stucked and i had to remove the battery so i could turn it off...it started to freeze at bootloader and at one point simply turned on...it seemed okay....everything worked...or at least that's what i thought until i got home and tried to turn WiFi on...it kept saying error...same with BT...i have no other problem with it except those 2...here is a logcat screenshot with what it says when trying to turn wifi on...any help is welcome
P.S: i love u guys xD xda rocks :]
Seems your radio is bad, either a bad flash or a bad radio. Did you check the MD5 before flashing it?
You might want to flash a different radio and see if it helps.
yeah i did check the md5 checksum, ummm i have no idea...i flashed another radio too but that didn't helped so i restored the phone using a 2.2 WWE stock rom from shipped roms or how it's that site called...hoping that everything will work fine, but it didn't , i might just try to flash a radio again and see if that helps. Thanks for your answer
You can check in the development part of the forum and get the latest radio
Put the .zip in the root of your SD, boot in recovery it should ask if yuo want to update
There you go, should solve your problem
i just tried that yesterday...same thing...and the errno i get from BT in logcat is 19 and the wifi driver thing persists...attachment below...
How do you have flashed the radio???

by ur screenshot i guess that u r still using ics. i had same problem with my wifi and bt. try latest ics rom and in last pages of ics thread is a patch regarding wifi problem apply that too. i hope it ll solve ur prob

Okay,
I would try another ROM, not ICS. If the other ROM works with WIFI, then will be the issue to ICS.

well try to install latest virtuous rom and then install wifi patch.
i went back to stock and then flashed various ROMs and i still have the same issue...oh and btw, my phone vibrates twice now before booting up the ROM, then when the ROM boots up it vibrates for the 3rd time....never happened like that until i flashed a radio for the first time...so idk...i think that most probably is a radio problem...and i have no idea what i could do to fix it...it's like over a month now without WiFi and it kinda kills me T_T
/bump /10chars anyone any ideas? QQ
Most of the experianced users may already be aware of this method, but I'm posting this for the benefit of the new users.
Many of you might be familiar with the issue of GPS not turning on after a new ROM flash. Mostly on CM7 and its based-on ROMs. This could be fixed by flashing radios ( haven't tried flashing radios myself ).
But here is an easy way to get GPS working without any trouble.
1). Make a nadroid backup of your current rom if necessary and flash a ROM with working GPS ( a sense ROM or CM6) , if your current ROM has no issues with turning GPS on, skip this step,
2). Open Maps or similar app an wait for a stable GPS fix,
3). Without leaving the Maps or the app you used, turn the phone off. ( GPS must be on as we shutdown the phone)
3). Boot into recovery and flash your new ROM as usual or restore your previous backup,
4). Boot in to the ROM, you'll have GPS working..
Follow steps 2-4 everytime you flash a new ROM to get the GPS working.
Cheers..

When i had my wildfire i used the radio method first, then the rom one as it was quicker and less dangerous. this will be particularly useful to people with s-on who cannot flash the radio

Sorry to bump and old thread but, just out of curiosity would I have to flash a new cm 7 to trigger the GPS or could I restord a nandroind backup instead (obviously after flashing the cm 6 or sense based rom). If the answer's no, could I instead flash the new cm 7 and gapps but advanced restore my data so I can get my apps back (don't know if this will mean having two Google apps because i don't know whether its stored in data or system). Thanks in advance.

I can't tell you how happy I am! I have a galaxy note 2 from verizon and my gps stopped working about a month and a half ago after flashing a new rom. I thought it was a hardware issue because I couldn't find anything online and considering it was acting up on the previous rom. Keep in mind I used an app called GPS Test and could not find a single satellite even after trying in different outdoor locations. I fixed my phone by following steps 2-3 after making a backup of my current rom, and restored a backup of my first rom using TWRP. Once I had that rom installed I used GPS Test to see if it found any satellites and it did! I followed step 2-3 again and restored the rom from the backup I had just made and opened up GPS Test and it worked!!!!!!!!!! Can't tell you how happy I am! I was about to get a new device, a navigation is necessary for me. Honestly, Thank You!!!!!!

Hi Lads!
I'm experiencing problems with my HTC sensation. I've installed newest ROM and gapps from Albinoman887 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2524961). My GPS works just fine if I'm using WiFi or data network, unfortunately I don't have an internet plan so I can only use WiFi when in range. No matter how long I would wait google maps (I've saved offline map) or Garmin/TomTom wont connect with GPS. I've tried to connect it in not urbanised area, were i wasn't surrounded by building or high trees.I was switching between 'device only' and 'assited with WiFi and network data' but since I don't have internet connection I think it makes no difference. I had this problem as well on - cm-10.1-20130610-Albinoman887-pyramid , but as I had internet plan wasn't bothered about that. Did you face similar problem ? Would you know how to fix that issue ?

Have you tried this procedure? Could possibly be the same issue as you also have a HTC device.
Also, Network Location should work regardless of the data connection status, as it gathers location data from Signal Towers to determine your approximate location.

I have a similar problem as LOGHSX with my HTC M7.
TO lakshan_456: it is also applicable for M7? Can you recommend any RADIO flash file?
Thank you so much.
I'll try to keep this brief, but backstory is necessary.
Original Nexus 4 came in, bluetooth often would refuse to connect to paired devices without rebooting the phone (or power-cycling the other device oddly). This was on stock. Flashed AOKP milestone 2 at some point and problem persisted.
Original Nexus 4 data port broke, RMAed and got a new one (now with nipples!). Flashed the same AOKP milestone and whoa, bluetooth works wonderfully now. Always connects immediately, amazing!
Fast forward to yesterday, I flash the new AOKP 4.3 build along with a new radio at a knowledgable user's suggestions (filename radio-mako-m9615a-cefwmazm-2.0.1700.84.zip). I'm right back to where I started with bluetooth refusing to connect half the time. Now I KNOW it's not a hardware issue because it worked on this new Nexus until yesterday.
Is this a kernel issue or could it be the radio? Recommendations on what to flash to get my bluetooth working again?

Try reflashing the ROM with a data wipe. If the problem persists, then it's either a ROM issue, or your bluetooth chip is malfunctioning again (Which is improbable).
I was hoping perhaps someone would say "Oh that sounds like a radio issue. Just flash this one and you should be good."
Oh well, I guess I'll put up with it for now and do a factory wipe when AOKP releases a milestone 4.3 or something.

Bugs in nightly builds are very common. If you want to be sure, flash the stock rooted ROM, and check if the problem is a hardware one.
And yeah, the radio is most probably not causing any problems, since most of us use the latest one with no problems.

I was actually having this same problem with stock 4.2.2, CM10.1, and AOKP Milestone2 on the first phone. Didn't have the problem with AOKP Milestone2 on the new phone, but am now with the new 4.3 preview build. Really frustrating. Oh well, I'll keep flashing clean until it works. Thanks.
Having issues with GPS working. IT is not even seeing any sats. I have my old GNEX and that is working great, no issues. I used GPS Status to reset/download the GPS data and no luck. I tried the latest CM build and an old CM build...no luck. I tried a different 4.3.1 ROM all together, no luck. I would try a 4.2.2 but GOO has been down all damn day
Anyway, any one else having issues with GPS? Hope GOO is back up soon because if this is a phone defect, then I need to flash back to stock. Wish I would of tested GPS out of the box, but I didnt even think to do so.
thanks

I am on the latest CM nightly build. Cannot go back to stock. All the links do DL stock roms are down because of GOO
THis is what I did to get GPS working....
1) Flashed CleanROM 4.2.2 and established a lock
2) Factory rest in recovery and applied CM 10.2 M1
GPS now works fine. Before I was restoring a CM backup but I had to flash the original CM ROM in order to get GPS working.
I am on stock rom, and have same issue. I began to think that this is a hardware problem. What type your g2? Mine is d802b.
There is another method to download stock rom, have you tried it?

Stock and 4.2.2 ROMS are fine. It is a known issue going from stock to CM. Some G2 phones do have hardware problems tho.
