I am trying to ota manual update to android 2.36 on the recovery i get the error "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command" then when i select update.zip i get "Invalid operation". I have hboot s-of
I had the same problem, but i have a unbranded, stock DHD
Has anyone actually been able to do it like this yet ? I've been keeping an eye on the threads and haven't seen anyone do it yet, I could have missed summat though.

ive read all the steps and downloaded all the spl and rc29 files and when i try to use them it says no image found and it reads serial 10 or ill get can not open file (bad) i just want to get the factory firmware so i can recieve the ota updates without the hassle of waiting for a mod version can someone help me. ive got the jf 1.51

and i get to the part where i am in the HBOOT screen and its trying to update the ESPRIMG but i get an error saying "Main version is older! update fail! do you want to reboot device?"
ive went through the root process multiple times and i keep getting the same error. i tried different ESPRIMG and still the same error...please can someone help me?
I got the rom update utility and I followed the instructions but it wont install. It just sits at 0%. Any ideas?

Yeah lol skipped a step but now every NAND rom I try to install I get NAND kernal failed to load or something like that...

And no offence but " NAND kernal failed to load or something " will only make less people want to help.what error? If you missed it do it again and write the error down, with the added bonus that you can Google an exact error, you can't Google "kernel something blahblah "

tried to install spl and all i get is this message even with other spls doesnt matter which i try E:Can't open /sdcard/update.Engineering-SPL-HBOOT-1.33.2010-signed.zip (bad) Installation aborted currently i have android 2.2.1 with 2.6.34.5 cyanogen mod anyone know why this happens

Maybe you have a corrupted .zip file.

wich recovery are you using?? in CWmod you can mount/unmount your sdcard.. look into the menu that option... i solved that issue in this way...
