Do we need a PIT?
Again, does this get rid of the root? - Is this de-branded UK firmware?

Top stuff, thanks

It's probably been asked many times before, but my phone came from O2 which has their branding. If I were to go for this firmware, would I be able to restore my phone back to O2 Factory setting, as I do not wish to invalidate my warranty?

Thank you, thank you!
Here's the last step I needed to get a UK unbranded handset. Pity I'm going to have to do a wipe to get on XEU CSC

@Rocketpaul: Yes, this will remove root. Re-root in the same way as before
@Robot1000: No, there's no way to restore an older firmware other than to flash that firmware (which currently hasn't been leaked to the web)

I am not yet fully familiar with Samsung terminology but can someone confirm that going to the XEU CSC makes it a completely generic handset?
Thanks!
James

In terms of the software on the phone, YES, going to XEU CSC (which you might have to configure manually, haven't checked yet as still downloading) will make the phone a UK generic / SIM free handset.
The only other thing is the phone's ProductID, which is stored in the nvram.bin file on the phone. I *think* this will change to XEU when you change the CSC, but I need to check. (it is possible to change this manually, but EXTREME CARE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN)
...Either way, I will confirm once I've flashed this on to my phone, in about.... 10 minutes!

Use this one: http://hotfile.com/dl/116892134/92526db/KERNEL_I9100XWKDF.zip.html

So are we mix and matching kernels now?
Would be good if we could extract the kernel out of this firmware for root and re-flash, so it all matches..?

It's fine - that kernel works pretty nicely

Thanks, I look forward to an update from you.
Can you please tell me what the process is for configuring the CSC manually?
(A google for "manually configure galaxy CSC" doesn't seem to find a guide for original Galaxy S...)
Thanks!
James

To change CSC if you flashed a multi-CSC file just type *#272*phone imei#
When the menu comes up just select your csc of choice and click on install. It will wipe your phone.

Thanks intratech for a promote and clear response.

does this install a new baseband as well as my signal is very erratic and i put it down to the radio firmware also do you just extract the .tar and put it as pda or do you leave it zipped. Think im being dense but not been to bed yet should sleep before doing this. Cheers

firmware upgrade encountered an issue! Please help

I know I know there's been quiet a few threads about people screwing up and I'm one of them with a little different problem.
So I really appreciate your help
I have a second I9505 running great on XXUEND1 (almost instant GPS lock) and tried very hard to find this modem to flash on my second I9505 but couldn't find it.
So I thought "lets download the stock which will change the modem, and then restore nandroid" Yes I have a TWRP nandroid I made just before this screw up
So I downloaded this stock from sammobile http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/download/28734/I9505XXUEND1_I9505TELENC1_TEL
I was on:
GPE 4.4.4
Modem: I9505XXUGNK4
Baseband: I9505XXUGNK4
Loaded the stock firmware in PDA/AP and flashed. FAIL!
Now I can get into download more only (no twrp)
I've attached the screen of Odin 3.09

Cheers guys!
Any help guys? I'm getting nervous here...
The cable should be the stock one and should not be on a hub. Try a different port on the computer, and do not panic. The fact you can get into download mode still means all hope isn't lost.
EDIT: You posted this question twice, with the second location being a development thread, where it really doesn't belong. You received a response there as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59386461&postcount=18244 . In the future don't cross post, no matter how desparate you are.

Thank you, it's directly connected to a port that I've flashed with many times.
I even tried other ports but still same thing.
Did I do wrong by trying to flash the 4.3 from 4.4.4? Or is that asking for trouble?
What else can I do?

not sure but it might be partitions (.pit file) - for example one was too short and write failed due to no space left
try flashing the one you were using before (or at least 4.4.2).

Yes I'm sorry about that. I was really starting to freak out.
Anyhow, I've managed to flash a 4.4.2 with modem and baseband XXUGNH6. I've also flash the latest twrp. But I would still very much love to complete what I wanted to do in the first place. Which is flashing XXUEND1.
I couldn't find it anywhere as a flashable and I couldn't downgrade to 4.3 which is where it is.
Could you guys please help me get this done?
Cheers
not sure if you have .pit file included in package downloaded form sammobile (the one for 4.3) but if so - add .pit and tick re-partition, while flashing 4.3 as you tried before.
re-partition, if it will include data partition will erease all your data - backup your movies, photos, etc before proceeding.

Thanks mate,
Just managed to get it back to normal bu flashing 4.2.2, then downgraded to 4.3 XXUEND1.
Now the build is showing as XXUEND1. However the bootloader and baseband stayed at XXUGNH6!
IS it possible to flash XXUEND1 modem/baseband on this now?
I've tried compiling the modem flashable but aren't savvy enough! So here are the files if it's possible to flash
Modem: https://mega.co.nz/#!HRNHQZob!WLfbPp...ZHF7pAd5HmC00U
NON-HLOS: https://mega.co.nz/#!iVFjWCZI!jcUyjN...WP8kfnQZbIxDi0
Really appreciate your help!

You can always extract modem and non-hlos form your XXUEND1 package downloaded from sammobile and flash them separately via Odin as in here:

Odin error to get the latest update BOC5[N910F]

Hey guys, the problem that I have is that when trying to get by odin version Boc5 either of Switzerland, Luxembourg or any Boc5, I eventually pulled mistake odin, are all from a single file.
Flashes properly until the end of the green bar and is there when it reaches the end where you get the error, now upload a screenshot to see him
Anyone know because it happens ?? and that solution is.
A greeting and thanks.

- PC Odin flashable (*.tar.md5 file)
- pure stock, NOT rooted, the only change is replaced multi CSC pack (putted multi CSC OXA package instead of OJK)
- contains CSC: BTU, CPW, DBT, ITV, KOR, XEF, XEO
- can be flashed on ANY N910F without a pit file

Guide Odin Flash / Update firmware ODIN
You do not need to root or unroot the device to update the firmware.
Please ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray!
0. Download and Install: Mod edit: Malicious links removed.
1. Just download the firmware version you want from this posts and extract the .tar or .tar.md5 file in the archive and save it somewhere.
2. Reboot your phone to download mode. To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin 3.**
If your ROM is a single .tar.md5 package click on the AP/PDA button and browse to the .tar or .tar.md5 file that you extracted in step 1 and select it.
If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA/Code, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin like below
BL = Bootloader
AP = PDA (CODE)
CP = PHONE (MODEM)
CSC = CSC
4. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
5. Connect the USB cable and wait for any required Mod edit: Malicious link removed. to install and the ID:COM section to turn blue like below.
6. Click start to flash.
7. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device once the flash has started, it will reboot when it finishes.
*Note PDA/AP/CSC/CO/MODEM/etc
PDA refers to the build version of the software/firmware
Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
.PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It's very likely you may never have to use this.
If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.
If it has multiple .tar archive then:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the CSC bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA/AP in the name is the PDA/AP part of the firmware package

The 930FD dual SIM uses the same firmware as 930F single SIM. More discussion here (not a link to firmware). Did you try unrooting with SuperSU? Knox is already tripped by the way and that's irreversible.
Ok I was just making sure, what firmware would I use for an international phone being as I live in the USA.
Thanks
Apologize if this is a noob question (i searched) . I have a G930F in the U.S. with AT&T , Will any of these firmware versions improve cell reception etc? If I switch firmwares will it allow UK version of Samsung Pay?
As far as I know, if you flash your phone with another rom is because you have rooted the phone. If you have rooted the phone, then of course you have tripped Knox and therefore Samsung pay wont work, let alone android pay
No firmware from the link

Your first question, don't know. You'll have to experiment.
Your second question, if Samsung Pay comes to the UK in May as predicted, it will probably only work with select UK financial institutions.

Flashing ROMs and rooting are two different activities independent of each other. Flashing a ROM doesn't necessarily root the device. Flashing official Samsung firmwares don't root the device or trip Knox.

It comes extracted from stock img/zip. I don't know anything about carrier unlocking so before you start off new, have you tried to factory reset or reset system settings to default?

Yes, I factory reset it, wipe cache, reset network settings, and nothing. I haven't flashed yet. I read a post that my phone won't lock again unless I use a sprint SIM Card, which I don't have.
Do you believe that if I flash it it would work?

"Does android phone fresh firmware flashing affect the SIM lock/unlock condition?"
The answer is no.
If your phone is locked, it will stay locked after you flash a new firmware.
And if it’s unlocked it will stay unlocked.
However if you want to unlock a phone with unlock codes you must revert the firmware to stock if you change it with a custom ROM.

Flash AP in AP SLOT, BP in BP, CP in CP, and CSC in CSC. Don't add HOME_CSC with ODIN.
Right click>Run ODIN as Administrator.

STOCK U FIRMWARE QD2
ODIN.

Check the post again. The best way is moving data to PC. Contacts/messages with Samsung Cloud or Backup but it tends to fail a lot. Try going to U Firmware im sure its compatible.

Is there any risk of bricking it by flashing the U firmware?
And, is this the correct firmware that would work on my 935P?

No risk at all but clashing of both firmwares... but you don't flash so you should be fine.
Yes, that is the thread i got the link from.
You can flash HOME_CSC if you want settings back that you had. P Firmware isn't ideal anymore for anyone.

home csc doesn't wipe all your data, normal csc wipes your data like a factory reset.

@Eahmmed . Make sure you enable developer options and change transition/window animation scales to .05x for faster tasking; especially on U.

I bricked my phone [Samsung A40]

Hello guys,
I have tried several wrong root firmwares for my SM-A405FN smartphone. I thought it was A30 so I tried flashing custom roms for A30.
And I got "This phone is not running Samsung's official" error which it loops and enter in download mode everytime.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then I flashed the WRONG stock rom for A30, despicte the fact I have A40.
The problem here, was that I couldn't flash anything due to some misterious "could not connect error".
After that appeared on the screen some information about the PIT,on the download mode.
I tried also flashing the firmware for the PIT, which it actual repartions the phone, and it runned succesefully. But I ended with this error:
"Error validating footer (6)
..tom recovery
Meta a405fnxxu4cv62, 54217902R"
My question it's if you know how to recuperate back my phone?
Next, I'm gonna try flashing my stock rom, preferably for Ver 9.0 / Pie Version. Then working on a solution for the problem above. And after that how to bypassing "Not running official Samsung".

at 1st I don't own that device but several other Samsungs
Which FW was that? the right one?
Where from did you get it?
Do you have multiple part stock ROM (AP, BL, CSC, CP all as separate files)?
Download mode still working?
Odin still recognises the phone?
Flashing the firmware for pit doesn't work to repartition it.
Pit file has to be extracted from CSC file and placed in Odin separatly and "repartion" box checked.
UPDATE1:
I tried to upload stock with Odin, but I encountered an error.
Then I restarted the phone, and I got this message:
And I found on youtube & here on xda, that I have to use Smart Switch, old version.
Now I can not find the Serial Number, on the box... and I might have to uncover the back of the phone.
@Cristishor201 to me it seems there is no (stable) usb connection if at all.
Doesn't COM field in Odin turn blue when you connect it to PC?
Tried other cables or USB ports?
Btw to let me get a notification put a @ before my name

Use CSC only for now, HOME only for keeping data when updating the correct firmware

I've no idea. It former times the numbers where there.
If you haven't kept the box, no. But what will the number be good for?
On my other Samsungs with not detachable batteries it's printed on the back although very hard to read.
Double post

I was able to return to Download mode, by flashing the twrp (the right one).
But it still fails..
@bmwdroidAfter I changed the cable, and flashed the latest stock (EMUI 11, instead EMUI 9), I did pass that error, and get repaired.
It get started with the initial installation steps.
