[Q] Exchange email working with Sense builds only?

hi Guys, can't seem to find an answer to this and hoping someone would know...can you use exchange email with stock Froyo 2.2 or only with the Sense builds? Thanks for any advice.

OK, how should I say it....
The Sense exchange support is not as good as the native froyo support.
Why ?
Sense can only support one exchange server.
The vanilla Froyo part can support multiple exchange servers, in my case the companies exchange and my private zarafa.
So far, yes, stock froyo support exchange.

I have had it working on ALL builds I have tried (ShubCraft, Bangsters, HyperDroid, FryoStone to name a few) no problems from day one. I recommend getting touchdown from the market if you want to use it seriously, the options are way more advanced and user friendly, the widgets are also excellent. worth the £20.

I haven't had any trouble using Bangsters v1.2. Make are you clear out each entry before you fill in your account information. I found that when I simply completed an entry by adding to what was already three it wouldn't connect. If I cleared each entry and then typed my info into the blank, no troubles. Best of luck.

Ok thanks to all, sounds like I am good to go...but numbskull, seeing as you have tried all the builds, which one did you stick with? I am still on froystone V1 (v2 seems to have issues from what I can read) but am using LauncherPro so don't figure I need a Sense build (although, is the dialer different without Sense?). Heh, hijacking my own thread!

I have finished on ShubCraft STOCK CM6, using ADW. no issues for over a weeks use now, enjoying it. But I am using the r10 kernel from michaprima, a good combo, not th one that comes with shubcraft.

Exchange works also without Sense!

You have to download the rom that has the sense featur built in. Some roms dont have sense.com on them and are stock 2.2.....you should check the desire z android threads to get the rom that also uses sense.

Beware some kernels break your WiFi MAC and other stuff, soem users report Sense not recognizing their phones
In my experience, Rooting and S-OFF won't affect your Sense connection, nor flashing a tweaked kernel (as long as it is based on the current stock one).
I dunno about others.

There are several different bits of HTCSense.com, i.e. Dashboard, Footprints, People, Messages and HTC Hub. I could be wrong, but I would guess that some bits of that probably don't specifically need HTC Sense on the phone, but some bits do ? Or at least different bits will be affected in different ways by custom ROMs etc.

I think the OP is wondering because one would assume that HTCSense.com is hard-coded to your phone's IMEI or something, but it's not.
You just register an account using your email address and phone number. You can have multiple accounts, they don't even need to be confirmed through email. The account shows up under Accounts & Sync like Facebook and Google do.
I've been using the same account across 4 different flashes (of ROMS that have Sense in them). It works fine as long as you add your HTCSense.com creds into the first-time setup or later under Accounts & Sync.

all you need is a rom running sense and you will able to use htcsense.com unless the chef removes some vital .apk
Even the normal desire (bravo) can use htcsense.com if they have a desire hd ported rom installed.

[Q] Question about swype beta

Hi, I just got my email to join the beta. I am using a build on my htc leo right now and when I goto download the installer apk, I click the link and it just goes right to download unsuccessful. Anyone else having this problem or had it?
I am not sure if this is cause of how I run android or if it's just cause I am using the phone data and not wifi (which they make a big deal about you using cause it's 10 megs)
Anyway if you got some information for me please let me know? Also for the admins, I know we can't post swype as it counts as pirated.

Ok I got the same email.. I thought my problem was the build.prob listing phone as hd2 so I changed it to ace.. Tried again fail.. Turned mobile browsing back on and it work!! Not sure which did it but it installed and licensed.. Hope that helps..

How did you get it to change, just a simple eidt of the prob file? I assume you made the change and rebooted to get it working so it would then lable itself as a ace. Hmm, I shall try this. Thanks and any more info you can give me would be great, oddly enough I got into the beta with each of my emails I have used lo.

Yes that's the line I edited. In my desire hd build it said hd2.. I changed it to ace.. I believe you should be fine then. Make sure the browser is set to mobile browsing.. I thought it was a problem but I don't know for sure. Guess I can boot my desire build, and try there as I haven't changed the build prop on it..

Thanks, I am reloading my HD2 as we speak. Something I was working on more or less nuked my build. Oh well live and learn. But I will try seeing it to mobile once I get it back up and will post back to you. Thanks.

so booting my desire blue topia build launcher forced closed.. Fail.. Guess its shot.. And now swype doesnt swype on my blue topia hd build.. Wow!!
Edit: reset to touch input then back to swype now it swypes again..

Aye, when I reloaded another build it just downloaded without any issues and installed fine. So now that I got the right apk file I am good now. I will just move it to my thumb drive should I load another build to test again.

[Q] Skype for Elocity A7

Hi guys,
I am new here and forgive me if I am asking something that was already discussed before.
Is there a way to install Skype on this device? I tried to go to Skype android section and download it from there but it always requesting phone number and type....

I FOUND A WAY TO FAKE OUT SKYPE!!!!
1st off let me start, i have the 1.0c mod added to my A7, and i extracted the vending .apk for 2.2.6 marketplace from the update zip found here on xda, cleared out the cache and data, and FC the marketplace, then installed the apk like a normal program, so i have an updated marketplace as well...
but like most of us at this point, when we try and logon to skype it gets caught in a loop...
im very short on time, so ill be quick... ive also got an N1 running cryo 6.1
i get to the login screen for skype for both devices, i have my GF's account entered on the A7 and my account entered on the N1, both have WiFi turned on, i press signon on both devices at the exact same time, and the A7 gets pasted the loop and logs on to skype, i have to very quickly logoff of skype on the N1, and the A7 works!
it does cause a lot of FC's but atleast its progress, and maybe a direction for the devs to look into....
ill give much more detailed walkthru when i get back tonight, or maybe tomorrow...

Whats wrong with skype? I logged into skype and made a phone call to my house with no trouble except when i tried to end the call, it locked up.

My Skype sits at logging in forever. What version of Skype are you running fisher?

Where did you find Skype android version to download? ...and I believe that it is in Skype interest to fix the bugs and make it work on Elocity or any other android device using WiFi or 3G...

Same issue - trying to use Skype downloaded from Marketplace (A7 using Dexter version 1c) - seems to be stuck with getting logged in - got it to work once, but I am not able to repeat - please advise ...........thanks - Love the A7 just wish I could address these shortcoming

Installed Skype 1.02 for Android build 1.0.0.659...cannot make it work ...whenever I try to log in it stops working ..sometimes it shows the message "logging in" but it cannot complete the atsk...Have anybody made Skype work on Elocity?

as stated earliler i have been able to get skype running on several occasions...
skype currently does not have a valid electronic signature for the tablet, or the tablet the build.prop was copied from...
that is why when we attempt to logon to skype, its checking for the signature, getting caught because it is getting mixed signals from our device and getting stuck in the 'loop'
but my N1 does have a valid signature... which i think is why skype is getting faked out when both devices are logging on from the same wireless network... the signature is going out from my N1, and the tablet is logging on...

Interesting...Unfortunately I do not have phone to use it to log at the same time...and I am trying to do it over WIFI
I bet you Skype will fix it eventualy

just a quick note.
it has been written in forum for a long time, that Skype somehow is protected from being used over mobile data connections.. im not sure how that affect regular users, but they have done something for US users to protect against Skype use. but this was all primarily on mobiles, im not sure how this fits into a tablet being used.

You may be right...the Android so far was always connected with the smartphones...tablets are very new thing and have been coming out only in last 6 +/- months with latest version iteration of 2.1, 2.2 ans hopefully this summer 3.0.

skype works fine with ElocityMod v1.3 , but again in US, coming from a USA ip address you might be blocked by Skype, so a signin is not possible.
but its works and i can call using elocity here (from Denmark)

Weird. I'm in Russia
I installed Market by self (it isn't hard for me) and don't use DexterMod yet)
There are some difference, maybe some libraries absent.
Will install DM and check soon.

In Canada, Skype works fine. Now if only Skype had video calling everything would be golden.

thats explains it.. the build.prop of official rom is not approved by Skype so it fails.. you need a different rom install or "steal it from my mod", it will solve it you dont want the new version.

I forgot that one thats was actually one of the issues found, but good you found the solution..

I am in USA and Skype works fine....no video beacuse it is not supported in Android version. I have mod installed though...before it did not want to log in.
Chatting and talking works great...

[BUG] in Kwiboo 's ICS v2

Many thanks to Kwiboo first for making a mostly daily ICS rom.
I flashed it last night and would like to talk about some bugs.
1. "android.process.acore" error
It comes frequently after using a third part Contacts Sync App.
That is to say, only System Account Sync is OK to avoid this error.
2. Apps bugs
a. "root explorer" UI error.
b. "QQ" force quit.
Other function is still tested, but so far so good.
I can't wait any longer for the next more perfect version.
Come on Kwiboo !

I noticed Google Wallet won't work. It says something about insufficient privileges. Which sucks because I actually use Google Wallet.

Nevermind about the flashing screen. It disappeared after flashing the new version of the kernel! : )

To get rid of the Root Explorer issue:
- Download 'Spare Parts' from the market
- In Spare Parts, uncheck 'Compatibility Mode'
- Reboot

Hmm.. I dont have that root explorer problem

I noticed that GoSMS is unable to load my contacts, just shows phones #'s. I assume it's due to GoSMS not being ICS compatible?

For the most part everything works, I have found these problems.
In addition to kwiboo's issues
Not working at this time:
Enhanced Email app (FC, Based on GB Email app, needs to update)
Viber app (FC)
VPN PPTP (Doesn't connect, worked fine in 2.3.7)
Google Wallet v5 Patch (FC)
Occasional Lockups (1-2x a day, attribute to Franco's kernel, if I had to guess)

Go SMS works alright, but your contacts are deleted in the flashing process, no Google services yet, no market but will be fixed in near future (I hope)

Awesome, glad to see wallet is working for you. Although, I feel like formatting data is drastic (for me at least). I'm gonna try flashing venumx's walletfix (v5).. I'd link it but xda's ns4g threads are all f'd right now. seriously mods?
