Official 2.2.2 UK SBF - Milestone 2 General

So... I've been busy this morning and have a positive thing to share with you: the official 2.2.2 UK SBF, straight from the rsdsecure servers from Motorola!
Right now I haven't tested it, because my Milestone 2 is backing up everything. I suggest you do it too, if you want to flash this SBF.
Also: make sure you have an 2.2 SBF ready, in case things mess up - http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2
Links for the DE and Argentina version are also found there.
Well, let's start with some Hash tags:
MD5: ac65e0b74eb551e030f42adfca1eef7f
SHA1: 9541f1be95a4d4944b6e0068fd192c3ec66958ad
CRC32: C48789C2
And the link: http://www.multiupload.com/JJGBOQFM7E
Don't hesitate to discuss this ROM. And please don't come asking for ROM's for other countries. I think the most important ones are available now.
Oh, and if your phone bricks. I didn't force you to install the SBF.

do you know what the build number is?

Android version is 2.2.2
Build number is MILS2_U6_2.4.24
As of now I've been unable to root this version.
Edit: You can get root with SuperOneCLick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

so it's the same as o2de version, isn't it? btw, movistar's build number is 3.23.0. wonder which one is better, hmm

The Movistar uses different GSM/WCDMA frequencies. It might not work in European/Asian countries, not to forget that it'll probably doesn't support your locale.
If you check the Milestone 1 SBF's, you'll notice the Argentina SBF's all have a different build number.
Anyhow, you can test it out yourself, nobody's keeping you from it

It's amazing to heard this, but, is this meaning that 2.3 will not coming soon?
And, Is there any highlight in this 2.2.2 UK SBF?
Thank you.

Hate to bring it, but I don't believe Gingerbread is coming to the Milestone 2. I believe this is the update Motorola was talking about.
This version was created on 02/23/2011 and still isn't officially distributed. So... 1+1=2

well, i think you people could be more optimistic.
2.3 may still come to us. i think they release 2.2.2 because they have no reason to keep working on it. i think that reason is 2.3.
well, who knows. just be patient.
if you ask me what i'm really expecting, that will be a custom rom based on uk rom. (since my sim card doesn't work with Brazil SBF) Meanwhile, Motorola won't give us a de-blured, customized, and tweaked rom.

Is this rom a RC or beta version? If it's a RC, I really would like to flash it right away. I already had my rom backed up just now.

there isn't even the 2.2 sbf of Asia-pacific region for milestone2...
from the day i bought my phone, to today, there is still NOTHING about the asia retail MS2 sbf...i don't know if they don't care about this region or what
well, is there anything improved in 2.2.2?
what i really concern is the multi touch performance....
it really not good right now...especially playing Gun bros would feel it

You could try out uk roms. I brought my mm2 in HK, and since the first day I have been using the UK rom.

There are few small changes, that I've noticed:
Obviously the keyboard. The Euro and Pound sign both work
The signal strenght is shown correctly (@HSPA it would only show 5 bars when the connection was that strong, otherwise there where only 4, while @2G there where always 5)
(HE-)AAC Tags seem to be read correctly
Data manager can now create a buffer with data intensive tasks; it will execute those when connected to WiFi or something like that
It's possible to see how much data you've used

I really hope they can do something to improve the performance.
BTW, this rom is not spotted on Motorola UK website. Link:http://www.motorola.com/Support/GB-EN/Consumer-Support/Mobile-Phones/Milestone_2_with_BLUR

And as I said earlier; this ROM hasn't been released officially (yet).

Gingerbread on Orange

Is the gingerbread update available yet, on Orange? I tried checking on kies a few days ago and it said I have the latest version, but I have froyo 2.2.1
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
In a word, no. Samsung withdrew the Gingerbread updates due to some fault or whatever so the only ones available are the JV1, JVK, JVB and JVA Roms which are floating around at the moment but these are primarily for unlocked devices so I don't know what effect they may have on your phone if its locked to Orange
So when will we get it?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Why don't you ask Orange?
So when will we get it?
Very simple answer
After Samsung release it and Orange customise or sodomize it and Orange upload it to the Kies server .
More complicated answer Ask Samsung .

It will be weeks after the stock unmolested firmware is re-released. Im on orange too and debranded mine because I got bored waiting for Oranges 2.2. It is still sim locked though (hasnt caused any problems)If you decide to try this make sure youre 3 button download/recovery is working though-mine wasnt originally-but is now thanks to the good peeps here.
If you look in the forums you will find a free network unlock solution too.
After flashing all the Gingerbread roms though I find I keep returning to Darky's 9.5 (Froyo based).
If you do decide to de-brand & network unlock you should also consider changing you CSC to XEU too that way kies will check for the official European i9000 rom instead of a network branded version.
You can always re-flash back to a carrier rom should you want to though.
You can always re-flash back to a carrier rom should you want to though
But where would you get one from ?.
That seems to be a problem 99% do not save carrier rom and few are available elsewhere .

Just like me I to hunt around for "t-mobile galaxy s odin" and sure enough google provided me with a link to a t-mobile 2.2.1 rom flashable via odin, failing that you could always use fwspoof to emulate a older carrier from and have kies re-install the carrier update.
Just thought you might have a secret stock .
jje
Orange delayed and delayed 2.2 for the SGS, it was supposed to come out in November last year and ended up being January for the official release. This was months and months after the official unlocked versions came out, so I wouldn't hold your breath on it being a quick release.
That said 2.2.1 seemed to come out relatively quickly compared to 2.2
Fingers crossed they get bored modding all these releases with their own crap and have it as downloads from the market...as it should be.
I may have missed it in the Orange Terms and conditions, but a while a go when I read through them, I couldn't spot anything about modding phones making warranties being void (although I'd double check), so you could always try a custom ROM if you can't wait.

I hooked up my galaxy S to Kies yesterday morning and was offered 2.3.3 from Orange, Installed it and all went well ... until I tried using the 3G instead of wireless, I cant access 3G at all. anyone else having this issue?
I have checked the APN and that is fine.
here's some more detailed info about the firmware:

get yourself the stock orange rom from your country, to have it in case of warranty
and install a custom one
Just root your phone, make a Nandroid-backup (CWM-backup), save this backup on your PC and then you can flash a custom-ROM.

No need for explanation anymore I used checkfusdownloader to download the froyo update for orange uk. The available gingerbread update is fubar from what I've been reading in the web.

Just to be clear that the whole Atrix community doesn't equal AT&T customers. GB is only released as far as I know on AT&T. I am not aware of it being released on any other networks or countries yet.

Your response was absolutely fine. Sorry, I just took slight exception to the subject line of the thread itself "Gingerbread Officially Released". This is not an AT&T sub-forum or network specific thread. I have seen evidence of other network/country users being confused why they have no update yet.
On a side-note, originally Motorola hinted the UK would get the update at the same time, but that doesn't seem to be true as of yet. However, the non-network branded version of this handset is not released until August 2nd, due to Motorola having exclusive tie-ins with Orange UK and T-mobile UK until then.
Well in trying to bring my atrix back to stock so that I could install the OTA update I messed something up and it wouldn't or couldn't get any data. No up and down arrows showing data. No browsing or anything. Everything else worked. I could't even wipe the phone without an error. I took it to ATT after removing super user and a few other things. They couldn't figure it out so they gave me a new phone.
I upgraded to 2.3.4 and I am loving it. The battery seems to last much, much longer. The camera is much better and over all I am loving it. I do want to root it but looks like I will have to wait until more folks get this authentic version for that.
learning curve
I am new to android, i come from iphone jailbreak land. Sorry, I am late to the party but I can't understand one piece of the puzzle so i can manage this myself. I am on att, 2.2.2, baseband N_01.7715p, 4.1.83, Rooted with ginger blur 4.5.
Why dont i want to update my baseband with the OTA? I have read much about downgrading with RSD and so on, but because i am arriving at halftime, no one really explains why anymore. Just need a little help with the learning curve, Thanks

The latest Samsung build I tried was KI4; excellent firmware and is leaps and bounds above the Bell firmware in every aspect. There are newer 2.3.5 builds, but I'm not on a Samsung based ROM currently.
Bell Canuck thread.
Firmware thread.
Search Original Android Dev for the latest/greatest firmware; it changes rapidly.
I wouldn't worry about updating your firmware via Kies if you're on Bell; you may NEVER see an update.

Read and research some more until you're comfortable. You only have to worry about matching kernel to firmware if you're doing a simple root, and retaining your current firmware. I've run 3 or 4 of the XXK_ _ firmwares, which are all Euro specific. No issues whatsoever.
Bell would likely tell you to pound sand if you tried to get warranty work done however, despite the fact you would have an official Samsung firmware (but not Bell's firmware).
When/if you flash a non-Bell firmware follow the instructions in the thread I linked to the letter, and yes, PDA is all you need, it has CSC, kernel, etc... in it.
You can then track down a CF-Root kernel for that firmware.

(Q&A) Any major changes in final release of lollipop (India)

Those who are using Indian soak test before and now using official release in India.... Do you notice any changes?
Sent from my XT1068/69 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Soak Testers didn't get the final OTA and will not get it. Reason is, the final OTA rolled out today is the same one soak testers got. They just got it a little early. You can see in the screenshots that everything under About Phone is same in soak test version and final version.
So does this in theory then mean that those of us who installed the captured soak test from the other thread will not need to use any other captures in the future and be able to use the ota update just fine without any chances of bricks etc

Cool so we won't have any worries about our phones bricking if we do an ota as is then I guess? Then that puts me at ease of mind.

I mean we'll be able to download ota's without worries of getting our phones bricked because of it being from soak. I remember reading the other day someone was talking about how if we want to be able to use ota we'd have to use a stable capture first in order to be able to use ota. It seems that won't be an issue though since soak and stable are the same with just different release dates so we shouldn't have to worry about that right? Sorry for being silly here. I'm not exactly an ape man when it comes to tech but I'm not feeling the need to fiddle around with roms and bootloaders on this phone when I shouldn't really need to

Well, it was me who said that the other day. That time the official update hadn't rolled out and we thought it would be a newer system version. But, now that it's released; we now know that it is the exact same OTA, so no problems for future updates either. It's like we never installed soak.

Yea i suspected something like that was going on when I saw that new thread about the stable and people were saying everything's exactly the same but just wanted some sort of confirmation. Now the only thing that I don't know if it'll affect anything in the future is that my build number on 4.4.4 was kxb now it's lxb (unless k stands for kitkat and l for lolipop lol. dunno) but i don't think it would be a problem since the system version has only the numbers changed and everything else is as it was on kitkat. Seems like the indian release works on european xt1068's as well contrary to what I read some people were saying but I guess it depends on some things...

Funny, but you're right. The Build number on KitKat was "KXB21.85-23" on mine, but now it's "LXB22.46-28".

Well that pretty much solved all questions I had regarding lolipop on my moto g. Now the only mystery that remains is if the indian update works just fine when you install it on a eu moto g (well you need to manually install from recovery doe doesn't detect it in the ota screen) why is the eu xt1068's update nowhere to be talked about. All I've seen is india brazil and so on but eu is so silent that even babies can sleep

That´s a mystery for sure!
The only difference between the indian and the european XT1068 is the fact, that the indian version has 16 gb of memory, european model has 8gb.
But there must be something more that differs! In europe even a soaktest is rumored, surveys were sent,so everthing looks like we have to wait in europe for a few more days/weeks.
But why? In another thread I considered that Motorola is afraid of being taken to court or something by european users if something doesn´t work right. European laws are tough. Isn´t that a bit far out?
Or are there any technical differences between these models which are barely known?

Aside from the ram I highly doubt there's any real difference since when I got mine in the first few days of fiddling around it had the hindi, korean and pinyin keyboards which i disabled so I don't think that would be the case....I mean why would most eu phones need these inputs from the get go. As far as laws go I can't really see much reasoning there either since it's a 130-50eu phone so they can't really have much to complain and unless it somehow magically bricks the device I doubt there would be many if any at all issues...Dunno doe. I'm not motorola so i have no idea what's going on through their heads but it's just kinda silly to me considering that everything's running fine on mine at least without any factory resets or anything....could be just me doe. On another note I think one of my little gripes about lollipop is that it doesn't hide the signal bar for my secondary sim when it's inactive and just shows it. Is this just for me or does everyone have that cuz I didn't pay attention to that on screenshots the last few days
Did some one backed up latest Indian Lollipop rolled on 23 Jan in TWRP in recovery mode and uploaded somewhere? Please share.

The 14th Jan one does have 1032.3105.
EDIT: Looking at a screenshot in that thread, it doesn't have the above mentioned version.
Weird though, I have installed the same version, but using a .zip captured by one soak tester. How could the version be different, when the update is same?

Yes, weird but there is reason. MD5 of old link and new capture matched perfect. Update in link by you and new both are same. Looks like Motorola fooled everyone and rolled same update again.
Anyways! Can anyone share TWRP backup of this version?
some apps bugs ..
Some apps like fifa 15 ut and some others are not supported for locked device and while installing from play store it showed error 505.
