After the last update my quadrant score dropped to 1100! Anyone else?
I have 1433 after the update. Had about 1700 before the update.
Mine is drop also. Heard that lower quadrant score doesn't really mean lower performance.
why do people always use quadrant to judge their phone performance?.. unless you are really unhappy of it or finding reasons to get better phone :/
Quadrant - 1750
I done RUU update on mine dhd, before update: quadrant 1850 - 1900, first quadrant after update 1450, but after all settings done, is on 1700 - 1750, but phone is much faster and smoother and battery life better, and no any problems with wifi at all..

With Linpack I see people getting to 848mhz and even 1ghz.
I lose stability at 787mhz and I'm ok at 768. I know that different chips vary... but 1ghz difference?
Is there a way to overvolt on the Eris I don't know of?
The eris OC at 1ghz....thats a lie and some one is pulling your leg lol. The eris is not built handle that and if it did reach 1ghz the motherboard would burn up.
Yeah but 848mhz isn't so farfetched. I can do 787 for a while without any freezes. The freezes do happen though.
If you overvolt it shouldn't be impossible to get up to 848mhz.
As for the 1ghz + entries on linpack's site I think it must be another phone running Eris ROM's/ basebands.

I can do 806 all day with Aloysius but my buddy with the same exact setup (i setup it up, so I nkow its exactly the same) can only get stable at 768.
I have not seen anyone with proof or that is respectable, show that they can keep their phone over 806.
"Begin envy now "
I do lol
So there are NO overvolt kernels/ methods?
I can run 806 stable with evil Eris 3, most of the other roms crash when I clock them at 806.
Lucky lol my processor seems to be stuck at 768. 787 doesn't last too long and it's not worth the random FC'ing. I'm sure it would be stable with more voltage and heat hasn't been an issue for me at all at 768 even with Pandora/ Zenonia running for quite a while I haven't gotten even lose 50C.
The question is why would one want to OC that high. I see absolutely no difference in performance at 710 vs anything higher. Probably even lower than that. I just don't see why you would want to run any higher and eat up your battery as well as tax the processor and board more when there isnt a noticeable difference other than linpack scores. Just my opinion but I think all new to OC'ing should be aware that faster isnt always better.
I know that lol I mean... a lot of people who overclock computers don't do it for a performance boost, they do it because they want to see if they can. They won't get better gaming performance they just get a slightly better benchmark.
I want to do it just to do it.
Ok rock on speed demon On that note, I wonder if it could be clocked to the max in a freezer room. If the low temp would help or if it is just hardware limited.
The MAIN problem with overclocking with voltage modification would be heat/ ****ty PSU. I'm sure the Eris battery can get up pretty high, it's a matter of staying cool. I would like to see how high I can get with cooling but I don't even know if overvolting exists for the Eris lol
Dont know about over but I know you can undervolt on it.
If there's undervolting there should be overvolting... someone has to know lol I've tried searching XDA and google but I can't find anything specific.

I tested 710, 768 and 806. I didnt just test with linpack either. I just used apps I normally would run, running for a few days and what not and noticed a difference from 710 to 768 but not really a noticeable diff from 768 to 806. I still keep it at 806 for reasons that my battery life is better. Dont ask me how or why but it just is. I have mine set at 806/480 and for sleep, 480/240. Now most of the day my phone is just in my desk drawer so that could be the reason but i still go a full day with heavy use at the end of the day (bt, wifi, internet radio, run keeper) and still have about 30%+ left when I go to sleep at 10
I have never had a problem with battery lol since overclocking my phone I've only increased battery life. Significantly so.
There has got to be some sweet spot there for OC'ing that gives best perform with least batt consumption. Just wish I knew what it was.
People are getting high because all processors aren't the same. So some can handle, some can't. As for the 1ghz it's a big lie. According to several people including jcase linpack scores can be easily edited and faked. I wouldn't believe anything on linpack that's outrageous.
I sorta figured they wre faking somehow. And I know some processors can handle higher speeds, that's the basis of overclocking. I want to know if I can overvolt my processor.
Can't help you there. Maybe go ask in the IRC? I'm curious if you can as well.
I can hit 787 and run stable... linkpack scores around 5.3-5.4. Oddly enough, my fone refuses to run at 768. I actually have to use a txt file for setcpu to remove 768 from the equation with profiles and the setcpu "trick" my battery life is GREAT. Much better than "stock" even.

Ok after bricking one phone, i got a new one and loaded voodoo and dirkks SV1200 kernal. also oc'd to 1200. everything has been perfect and had scores in the 18 or 1900s. this morning i was using my phone and noticed it was very laggy. i checked quadrant scores again and it scored in the 14's. as i ran the benchmark, i noticed it hangs on the I/O 3of4 for longer then usual. i have restarted the phone, no luck. even reflashed the kernal, no luck. I cant think of any new programs or changes to the phone. any ideas?

Well the 3rd I/O test does take the longest to complete. If you are having I/O issues this certainly would give you a fluctuating Quadrant score since so much is I/O affected especially on a voodoo'd SF. Have your other benchmarks taken a dip as well? Does the phone lag in regular use? If its just a Quadrant issue I would not overly panic. Cross check with other benches
My phone did that with voodoo too, I installed dirrks lv 1200, and when I upgraded it started acting up. I did remove the fix before I updated, did everything right, but it still lagged so I just glassed back to stock and did all the steps for remove lagfix. Still on stock kernel now but will install birdman optimized tonight.
Adrynalyne is the man BTW. Ok, as to the OP, have you reset the CPU in SetCPU after you restart your phone? If I don't, I get a score of 1400 ish too.
that would make sense as I believe it resets to 800 instead of 1200

Yes, it resets to 800. 1.2 ghz is nice, I would like to see 1.6. G2 OC'ed at 1450 I believe... Ugh, one day, one day.
No luck with OC kernels
I have tried a few, everytime I get issues. Seems like setcpu just does not play well with this phone. I get 1800 on stock voodoo .2. Don't see a need for the extra conservative 200mhz that an OC can provide. Good luck with the kernels though.
Anyways, as stated, make sure set CPU is set to 1.2 GHz and not 800 MHz which is where it defaults. I use the widgit and crank up the speed any time I'm using the phone, else, I leave it at 800 when charging / idle etc.
Also, go into System Panel (best app killer around) and do an END ALL - it will kill everything... THAN run quadrant. If your scores skyrocket, don't be alarmed. Quadrant likes to have a very clean system to run on, if you have a lot of cached or running applications, Quadrant seems to suffer, I'm assuming due to the delay between it requesting more RAM from Android and the time it takes for it to release it. Seems to make sense as to why it would slow down to me at least based on what I know about how Android handles RAM.
Just make sure to reboot your phone after to restore your normal app library of running apps.
With a 1.2 GHz overclock on jt's voodoo kernel most of us are/were getting about 1925 . I've not ran dirrk's LV kernel, the undervolting is very minimal and I'd rather error on the side of stability, YMMV.

Hi, after I updated quadrant standared, im now getting 1300 - 1450. Before the update I was easily scoring 1500 - 1700. Is this happening to anyone else? Im running stock froyo

same here. I thought it was because I was running CM7. Seems like that it might not be the same. I am scoring about 200-300 less than normal.
Noticed this as well. Score went from what I have in my sig to 2400ish at 1.5ghz. Scores have dropped in Smartbench 2010 update also.

Never a benchmark for usability .

I can't get over 3200 on Quadrant Standard since updating to KE7.... My avg scores with KE2 were 3700...
Bad, real bad....
Mine seem to stay between 1300 and 1500 oc to 1.1

For me I cant tell you the score on top of my head but I get a result below the Motorola X on quadrant standard on both 2.3.4 stock and CM7.0.3 (not overclocked or Underclocked). In the past I would get higher scores when I was running 2.2 and 2.2 rooted. I don't really use too much of the performance I actually underclock my N1 to 600mhz so it can last me almost a day of battery consumption with heavy use.
