Hi all
I have been using CyanogenMod roms for a while now and everything has worked great. Yesterday I loaded an eclair 2.0 rom I found somewhere, did`nt work well at all, so went back to CyanogenMod rom however after loading the rom when it boots up for the first time it no longer goes through setup or askes for my google username and password, there is no market application showing or google mail. I have tried several of CyanogenMod roms, same on all of them I am wiping before loading new roms. Its not the roms as they have all worked well before. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Have you redownloaded signed_dream_devphone_userbug-ota-14721.zip ? I would flash that then DONT reboot then flash cyanogen's mod and then reboot. Here is the wiki you can look at its very informative http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod .
thanks for the reply, can`t seem to find a download for signed_dream_devphone_userbug-ota-14721.zip, can u point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Read the wiki, it's right there, or use google.
Maybe I am just bieng a little silly here but the links don`t seem to be working on the htc site, is there anywhere else they are available.
Thanks

Linking to HTC was part of Cyanogen's intention because you have to accept HTC's license agreement to use the software, making it the legal workaround that CyanogenMOD is
I did go to HTC site also and the only working downloads right now are the fastboot downloads. Could this be a bad thing another hurdle to cross in Cyanogen's development. A fluke, or maybe we'll be seeing a 2.0 ADP image???? I'm on pins & needles!
Found a work around to get the downloads needed,PM me if you need it.
Thanks
Andy
I'm having the same issue here. I tried to use the market and gmail app and neither are working for me. I'm quite sure that I installed each of the files in the right order, as I was following the exact instructions. But it's still not working right. I was on JF 1.5 and went to the newest CyanoMod update since JF is no longer updating his custom rom. Would it be best to go back to an earlier CM rom? Or is there a fix in the works?
by the way, I'm using
HTC_ADP_1.6_DRC83_rooted_base.zip
and
update-cm-4.2.5-signed.zip
(bumping to see if anyone might actually have a solution)
I have pretty much the same problem...
a few days ago my phone started spazzing after installing Cyanogen's 4.2.11 and there was nothing i could do except formatting my sd card and a factory reset... eventually, i got my phone back to work, but it only came with all of the default apps except for the Android Market.
So then i tried to install the HTC recovery image along with cyanogen 4.2.11.1 to see if that would fix my problem, but my market app is STILL missing. I really need my market app back -____- even though cyanogen's rom comes with slideme mobentoo marketplace, the app force closes whenever i try to open it.
can anyone help?
Ok something dumb happened involving a flash 10.1 file meant for evo and eris. My problem is even after removing root and doing a full recovery it is still diplaying flash 10.1. I have tried uninstalling 10.1 and i could not install the flash light 4 apk ,which i found. The only way for me to play flash content on the stock unrooted device is to reinstall the flash 10.1 apk through astro. Can someone help me get back to a stock incredibe with flash light?. It wouldn't be a big deal with froyo working great but i also suffer from the grounding issue and will be returning this device.
I hope this is the right place and i thank anyone taking the time to read this.
ps i wish i could change the title to proper spelling.
Just download the stock ruu and ruu it back before you return it. This way everything is back to factory.
P.S. To edit your title, go to edit, and advanced mode.

by that you are directing me to follow th following link, correct?
http://androidforums.com/all-things...ideo-howto-unroot-incredible-downgrading.html
After doing this flash is still not restored properly.
For further context the issue resulted from using this.

I think you're a little confused....
Stock htc droid incredibles come with flash lite ver. 10.1.123
If you take a factory-fresh incredible out of it's brand-new box and go to whatismyflash.com it will say "flash 10.1.123" but nothing about "lite".
If you already ruu'd the phone, then it s back to factory.....i don't know what you're expecting to change?
The update you applied was actually just a hack that fools some websites into thinking you have the desktop version of flash. You should be all good.
Your phone never had flash lite 4....I'm not site where you got the idea that it did, maybe confusing it with the eris?
ultimately i guess they won't look that closely at the phone, however xepisodes.com worked on my phone out the box and now it does not work on 2.1 roms. That site now only works in froyo roms with the true beta. I was confused by the whatismyflash results as well.
OK - I bought an Acer A500 Tablet from a friend and it turns out that "it appears" to be a demo version. I can use it to browse, connect to my wi-fi, and use the stock programs, but there's no Android Market app and even if I download an apk file, it won't open it.
How do I get this thing to a standard stock tablet that I can sync with my Google account and download apps from the market.
I'm not a complete noob, as I do have an android phone and have flashed several specialty roms, but I can't figure this thing out.
Someone...PLEASE help me out. This was a Christmas gift for my wife....and she can't download the Facebook app...which IS causing a small problem for me.
I'd appreciate any help here.

There is another thread her about this
Thanks. I tried that first, and while it did wipe it clean, it still didn't reboot with the Android Market installed. It also occasionally starts a video of a demo of all it's capabilities. I can't delete it either. Very frustrating.

Thanks a big ol bunch. I really appreciate it. Now.....how do I get into CWM? I don't think I have that? What is the button sequence for getting into recovery?
He has a link to the instructions .
You will need to get the fallowing.all the software is available in the dev section you will have to look for them.
1 iconiaroot. To root the tablet
2 Iconia recovery installer to install cwm.
Then of course the rom you wish to use.
It sounds like a lot but once you get started you will figure it outeasly.
I am blonde and have flashed my tablet 20 or so times.

Hey Erica, Thanks for the help. My wife has been using her tablet and loves it. My next question is this:
What is the best (in your opinion) book reader for this tablet. I have over 600 books in epub format. I put them on the MicroSD card and have imported them into the free Aldiko Reader, Moon Reader and the stock Lumi (sp?) reader....and maybe it's just too many books to load and sort through....but none of these are great book readers.
Thoughts?
Belive it or not im not big on reading books..
I used to be for a living a Construction Superintendent/ project manager..
ALL i dont is set reading and working with blueprints..
the reading i do now is mostly on amazon kindle app.My Better half Bonnie uses my tablet to read sometimes and that is what she uses as well..
I have seen threads with people talking about many different readers but not my thing so i have not been paying them attention .
Glad you got your tablet Running and working. So many buy these things and start flashing then try reading how after its been bricked...
MAke SURE IF YOU HAVE not to do a backup thru cwm before you install too much crap so that you will have a fresh Os to fall back on incase you install something that messes up your tablet.. boot into recovery and go to the backup /restore menue.. its simple easy..

Yep....forgot to do that. I have an android phone and have flashed many different ROMs on it, so I was not completely a noob....but was worried about the demo version on that tablet. It's working great right now. Thanks for your help.
Should I use Titanium Backup on this to back things up, or the one in CWM?
I use both.. i do anand backup before and after i flash a rom and ..
and TI BACKUP FOR my big apps like co-pilot and my email settings and documents.. But i also have the ti synk thing that backs up to my ftp site on my domain..
Ok now i sound like a geeky nurdy chic.. time for me to go fix my hair and take the GEEK GLASSES OFF.. Giggles
Your very welcome..
kiss the wife for me... HEHEHEHE ..
Good reader is Cool Reader on the market, comes free or paid version...
Another good reader, if you want the books sorted into a virtual bookshelf, is IReader. Not sure where I got this from, might have been from another rom(possibly Miui rom for an SGS II )that I have scavenged and picked through... Search here might help....

Ok, not a problem.
1st off, do not use Rom Manager application for your tab. It's not designed for Iconia, it was designed for phones. What you need to do, is get AcerRecovery from the market. Which puts you in a pickle. Acer Recovery will install Thor's CWM recovery, which will allow you to flash roms and such.
Right now, you pretty much have a mess on your hands if the tab no longer boots.
First off, I would try a hard reset (pinhole near the PWR button). If that doesn't work, then try this;
1. Make sure your tab is charged.
2. Go to this thread, and select one of the rom update packages.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
Use one of the HC 3.2 update files near the end. Note that the Megaupload file no longer works.
Note that some of the packages are encrypted, so you will need to use the "decrypt" tool he has listed there in his 1st post. Copy it to PC, run it, select your encrypted rom, and let it do it's thing. This will give you the same rom, only states "decrypted" at the end of the file name.
4. Open the rom using Winzip or 7zip. Remove the update.zip (do not extract the contents of it), and copy it to the SD card (replacing a current update.zip if there's one there).
5. Holding either Vol- press and hold PWR. This should force the tab to install that update.zip (you should see some text on the screen, then you can release both buttons. Hopefully it will install.
Post back results please.
Got the hard reset done so i can boot back into the demo mode. Thanks for that.. The link to the thread you provided does not work tho. Is there any other way to get the Acer recovery on to the tablet or is there any way to get the market on the tablet so i can download it? i downloaded a version of the market but it says i need to add an account to use it and i do not have that option..i have an android phone and tried to download it to my sd card but it says its not a compatable device. Thanks for the help
My NC was running great a few days ago, but after updating itself to 1.4.1 I was unable to install apps that I had on my SD card. When attempting to install an app I received this error message: "For security reasons, only apps purchased through the NOOK shop can be installed". (Part of the new B&N update takes away the ability to sideload apps.)
To try to fix this I ran a factory reset to the stock (nook-complete-restore-1.0.1) software and then updated it to 1.3. Running 1.3 I then installed manualnooter-5.12.20 which is the most up to date version of Manual Nooter. Everything worked great until I tried to install an app, I once again received the error: "For security reasons, only apps purchased through the NOOK shop can be installed"
I then stated over with my first step and restored my NC to stock and tried manualnooter-4-6-16, but once again, same error.
I've run out of ideas, so if anyone can help I would be grateful.

You know that B&N already patched the hole when releasing their v1.4.1.
As some members reported, rooted stock ROM is still able to sideload stuff.
I didn't root so I can't confirm but I hope other reports are correct.

I can confirm this. My Nook is now running 1.4.1 rooted and I have access to the Android Market, Amazon AppStore, and many of the apps I was using previously under CM7. I followed the instructions in this thread to get it into this state:

I think the most important thing is using manualnooter-5.12.20 linked from that posting.

Open Nook Color Tools and you'll see a checkbox beside an empty space. I'm pretty sure that would normally be the label for "Allow non-market apps", but I guess the foreground and background colors are the same. Uncheck that and re-check it. Should work fine.

B&N sucks. I've bought 8 NCs for friends and family; and countless books from these idiots, and this is how they thank me.
It wouldn't be so hard to find a solution to my problem if B&N didn't come out with the Nook Tablet, which makes it harder to sort through the search results when looking for a fix to the sideloading error.
I will spend all of my free time convincing everyone I meet not to buy a Nook product.
Just to confirm: You did NOT load one of the older ManualNooter versions first?
I know the version of 1.4.1 B&N had up before Christmas differs from the version of 1.4.1 you can download now. There is another thread around here somewhere where someone posted a link to the older version. Unfortunately, I'm out of state right now, and can't post my copy up for you.
That said, some folks have done the root process using the newest 1.4.1 version and are reporting that everything is working, so I can't guarantee that's your fix.
B&N generally don't care about the techie base. I've been following the threads over at the B&N forums, and there's apparently not likely to be a change. They clearly want these things to be dedicated media feed system to the revenue streams (what used to be called "customers") and are focused on that. It's a definite kick in the teeth. Lots of folks there are moving over to Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus, or waiting for the new Asus toys. Personally, I'm happy enough with my NC, and will keep it for a few more months until something more open can be had for less.
Thank you for your help.
No, I used manualnooter-5.12.20.
I root or jailbreak every electronic device I get my hands on and never have an issue, but this seems to be too elusive.
why not setup a dual boot? I left my emmc in tact and loaded cm7.1, and now ICS on a second partition. I use the emmc to just read and boot ice when I want to play on Facebook or email.

I just re-read your post, and I think I may have a clue. manualnooter-5.12.20 was developed, as I understand it, to address B&N firmware 1.4.1 specifically. The procedure for rooting 1.3 is unchanged from first post in the "[NC][1.2][1.3] ManualNooter 4.6.16" thread, namely the part that states "1.3 Must do these instructions first with 4.5.18 then with 4.6.16". I used those two in sequence and had no problems with rooting 1.3. If you decide to update to 1.4.1, then you'll want 5.12.20 (or whatever the latest is).
You could try running 4.5.18 + 4.6.12 in that sequence to see if it works. If not, you may have to do a factory reset, then do them in sequence.
If you want to stay at 1.3, you should also research the threads for blocking OTA updates.

Once again, thank you very much for your reply.
I reverted my NC back to stock, (nook-complete-restore-1.0.1) updated to 1.3.0, I then used manualnooter 4.5.18 followed by manualnooter 4.6.12.
Before the 1.4.1 update I had successfully rooted many NCs and other tablets for customers and have never had a problem. I think that something in the 1.4.1 update has evil magic powers (rûah) that cannot be exorcised.
Just use MN 5.12.20 ONLY for 1.4.1 and you'll be all set.

On 1.3, using 5.1.20, yes. At least that's how the OP reads.
MN 5.1.20 works fine for at least the pre-Christmas version of B&N 1.4.1. I've heard both ways with the later release(s). You still want to user the older MN versions for 1.3 and older, and that was the problem as described in the OP. You also want to skip the older MN versions altogether for 1.4.1. This all is in GMPOWER'S posts to the MN thread if you really care.
I recently unrooted my cm7 nook color, back to stock 1.0.1(thats the only CWR I found)..... log in works ok but wont let me download any books. I can add them to my library but it wont download so i can read them...i have to download them from computer and add them to my sd card
i also wanted to update it to the 1.4.1 version so i can get netflix and comics, but when i connect my nook to my pc, my comp cant find it but on the nook it says its in usb mode
how can i fix these problems myself, and if i take it to a B&N store can they fix it? will they know that i rooted it?
i would like to reroot it but i want the update..........
please can someone help me ASAP
If you removed CWM then do 8 failed boots followed by power on + n factory reset... as far as 1.4.1 I have made a CWR flashable 1.4.1 update that is posted to multiupload... just find it in that thread.
thanks that worked,it finally updated and now can connect to computer......
