how does one reinstall flash lite 4? - Droid Incredible General

Ok something dumb happened involving a flash 10.1 file meant for evo and eris. My problem is even after removing root and doing a full recovery it is still diplaying flash 10.1. I have tried uninstalling 10.1 and i could not install the flash light 4 apk ,which i found. The only way for me to play flash content on the stock unrooted device is to reinstall the flash 10.1 apk through astro. Can someone help me get back to a stock incredibe with flash light?. It wouldn't be a big deal with froyo working great but i also suffer from the grounding issue and will be returning this device.
I hope this is the right place and i thank anyone taking the time to read this.
ps i wish i could change the title to proper spelling.

Just download the stock ruu and ruu it back before you return it. This way everything is back to factory.
P.S. To edit your title, go to edit, and advanced mode.

by that you are directing me to follow th following link, correct?
http://androidforums.com/all-things...ideo-howto-unroot-incredible-downgrading.html
After doing this flash is still not restored properly.
For further context the issue resulted from using this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726271

I think you're a little confused....
Stock htc droid incredibles come with flash lite ver. 10.1.123
If you take a factory-fresh incredible out of it's brand-new box and go to whatismyflash.com it will say "flash 10.1.123" but nothing about "lite".
If you already ruu'd the phone, then it s back to factory.....i don't know what you're expecting to change?
The update you applied was actually just a hack that fools some websites into thinking you have the desktop version of flash. You should be all good.
Your phone never had flash lite 4....I'm not site where you got the idea that it did, maybe confusing it with the eris?

ultimately i guess they won't look that closely at the phone, however xepisodes.com worked on my phone out the box and now it does not work on 2.1 roms. That site now only works in froyo roms with the true beta. I was confused by the whatismyflash results as well.

[Q] How do I put a rooted and ROM'd Eris back to factory

First of all, let me apologize if this is already posted somewhere, but I'm having trouble understanding some of this.
I rooted my gf's Droid Eris and put a custom ROM on it. She doesn't want it and wants it put back exactly like it was when she got it from Verizon. This means 1) not rooted 2) Android 2.1 w/ Sense (the exact same ROM she would get from the factory).
Everything I've read so far has me doing factory resets (which puts it back to the fresh modded ROM but not the factory ROM) or has me trying to do RSD Lite, but every forum post I read has a broken link to the file because I guess it's illegal to post it or something. Additionally, I can't find instructions for following that method with the Eris anyways.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?
btw, I'm new to rooting so treat me like a n00b...
I did a nand restore back to the when I originally rooted the phone. It now has 2.1 with HTC but the phone is still rooted.
Also, when I rooted the phone, whatever it did to root it (put something custom on my phone) it turned the trackball light on and that just won't turn off... even when the phone is off!
I'd love to just get this thing back to how it came from the factory.
Maybe if you try searching the Developement Forum, try something like "return to factory stock"
And in the future before you do anything to a phone, you might want to research how to undo it first, I bricked my first eris because I didn't bother to.

Sure. It's pretty simple, really. Download and install the Flashback21 ROM in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
It will return the Eris to factory stock and remove the custom recovery on the phone. I'd do the one without the radio myself.
A friend told me that there is a way to set a phone back to how it came from the factory by installing a factory ROM directly from Verizon through your PC using an app called ODIN. I'm having trouble finding information for the Eris on this process.
I think this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thanks so much!
I'll let you know if it fixes that trackball issue for anyone else who may have searched that issue
This did work! I noticed that the ROM wasn't exactly like what comes with the phone when we received it from Verizon (which was the same day). I am basing this off the type of wizard that opens when you first turn on the device. It wasn't rooted, though, and did put back what appears to be a stock ROM of 2.1. It's going back to HTC/Verizon tomorrow.

There are no customizations in this ROM - period.
The "stock" setup screens certainly changed between 1.5 and 2.1, and may have changed slightly from the original HTC/VZW 2.1 OTA to the July 2010 2.1 OTA update.
Having said that, there is one other thing that you might have noticed: you didn't see a device activation screen during setup. That is because NONE of the dev ROMs here on the XDA Eris touch the activation state of the phone - including Flashback21.
If you want to deactivate your phone, you need to perform the Factory Reset process from the OS menu, and a "stock" Eris recovery must be on the phone. (So, if you desire to do so, go ahead and do a Factory Reset after you have installed Flashback21)
If you have already turned in your phone, then no worries - the carrier usually deactivates the phone from their side.
Anyways, that's probably what you noticed. Flashback21 is completely stock.

[Q] Back to Stock Pro

Hey guys I'm new to the site and have some knowledge regarding Android and a little about the rooting process however I am still not officially rooted.
I just brought a Motorola Droid Pro off eBay and it came with Clockwork mod Recovery I really want to get rid of it because every time I re-boot the phone it pops up. I think that means that my pro is rooted and I have used it to wipe the phone and wipe the cache hoping to also get rid of the recovery however it is still there. Is there a way to get rid of it and go back to actual stock android with the new pro update that was released a couple months ago? Thanks so much I don't really know where else to go with these questions and hoping to illicit some kind of response from this site. Thanks so much.

1. Locate the thread with the SBF files "bricked your droid pro, SBF files" or something like that.
2. Download the SBF file for the droid pro. MAKE SURE ITS THE DROID PRO SBF.
3. Aquire RSD lite, it may be in that thread as well, otherwise find it on the internet
4. Using RSD lite, write the SBF file to the phone.
That'll set it back to factory spec, including unroot and bootloader... it'll be a few software updates back, so just manually set it to look for updates.
Thanksfor the quick reply I saw something like this somewhere while googling... I'm assuming RSD lit is pretty easy to navigate then I'm just using it to write the SBF file (I'm assuming SBF is like original factory update file) onto the SD card? Will doing this also rid of Clockwork mod recovery? Thanks again dude.

SBF is basically a image of the phone's software. Someone pulls it off a factory fresh phone and distributes it (or, it gets pirated direct from the source)
You're not writing it to the card, you're writing it to the phone.
When you open RSD Lite, you should see the phone connected. Also, theres a button that says "..." Click that button, choose the sbf file, and hit start... wait for it to finish, then after it resets the phone and says "please manually restart the phone" you can unplug and end the program.
This will reset the phone to just like it came off the factory floor. Stock recovery, OS, bootloader, etc.
Thanks dude figured it out yesterday was a little scared but did it thanks so much again.

unrooting for warranty

So after hours of searching, and being on the verge of tossing my phone against the wall I am asking if anyone has the stock rom zip file that I can flash. Everything I am finding leads to broken download links, or corrupt files.
I have also tried to get HTC sync to work, so i can just flash the new update and be done with it. But I can not get HTC sync to see my phone, no matter what rom Ii flash before hand. I currently have a old reworked 2.1 rom, was hoping that would be seen by HTC sync.
Uhhh dude so are you trying to push it back to stock? If so, google FROYO 2.2 official mytouch 3g slide an their should be a thread on tmobile.com saying something like "ladies and gentlemen, froyo 2.2" (or a variation of that) an it will hav instructions on how to install Stock 2.2 froyo! I hav rooted and unrooted my phone 3x literally with it (if I get bored with root I go back to stock, and vice versa) and if you ever want to re-root, go to my thread in this forum (how to get the most out of your slide) and I hav a link on how to re-root your device. I really hope I answered your question!

Thanks, going to do that one tonight. Not sure how I missed it, I must have assumed I already looked at the thread just from reading the title?
ended up unrooting it before work, and updating to 2.2 just to be safe. Everything went smooth, other then having to restart the update process when I hardly bumped my usb cord disconnecting it. But that was the reason for the warranty.
the stock esprimg.zip file can be flashed via rom manager OR recovery and then do the update to 2.2 using HTC sync, just FYI if anyone wanted to know.
I tried flashing the esprimg.zip through rom manager, and had no luck going that route. Its been so long since rooting it, I didn't think to load the esprimg using the vol down/power combo.
You're always safer doing it from recovery as you can get some bad results doing it through rom manager.

[SOLVED] Vibrant Root Concerns

Hey there. I rooted my Vibrant successfully, but realized I left some important things out. I used this guide to root my Vibrant: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723479
The problems:
1) I can't nandroid (not that I need to, I only have 4 apps)
2) I would like to install either Miui v4 or CyanogenMod 9 but cannot as my recovery screen does not show me the options to do so (I only get the 4 options you normally would get unrooted, such as "Reinstall Packages"), so I'm stuck with the lame default homescreen.
3) I'm currently on 2.1-update1; should I upgrade to 2.2? If so, must I unroot to upgrade, and then reroot? And if this were the case, how do you unroot, and can I reroot using the same method in the link above?
Also, I was looking at this guide: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sa...te_Guide#Installing_the_ClockworkMod_Recovery
and noticed the line "This guide assumes the Samsung Vibrant already has Android 2.2 build UVKB5 already installed on it."
Does this mean 2.2 is required to install the CWM Recovery?
Thank you.
I'm not sure how you don't have CWM recovery if you followed the guide as it is written. Maybe its because the 2.1 is updated? I would do the following and see if that's all it takes. You definitely don't want to update to stock 2.2 via Kies or anything of that nature.
Worst case scenario, we can have you Odin back to stock JFD. You'll be smooth sailing from there.
Search the forums and find the update.zip for CWM for our Vibrant.
Put that on the lowest level of your INTERNAL storage. Not your microsd card. For example f:\update.zip
Now go to your boring 4 option stock recovery and select reinstall packages. It will reboot to the same boring screen. Select reinstall packages again, and it will reboot into Clockwork Mod Recovery.
Let me know if that does anything for you. Also what version of stock recovery do you have?

Can pull that directly from my signature, if OP wants. (Only works on Eclair [JFD] build btw)
Also OP, You will have to have a ROM that you are going to want to flash saved on your Internal SD card. Jsut download it, put in a folder and follow the ROM OP's instructions. Since you are fresh and new, I would NOT suggest flashing anything of ICS or JB until you get the hang of things first.
Read, read and then read somemore. When it comes time to flash ICS or beyond, there is a guide in my signature. Good luck and make sure to hit Toast's "Thanks" button. He is a good asset to have around here.
Wow! I was hesitant to even check today, let it alone this early! Did not think that I would have two very useful replies waiting for me. Thanks guys, much appreciated!
I'll try the Odin thing out first before I even try to flash (you need root first before flashing, I'm assuming). Just out of curiosity, what is JFD and Odin? I'm still gonna try it out using the guides found here, but just curious.
EDIT: Damn, it worked like a charm! Now I have CWM. The mistake I made was that I only installed the Superuser/ROOT and not both. Gonna play with it for a bit now

[Q] unbricking selfbricked stock A500

My colleague brought his stock A500 to me in a bricked condition last week.
I need a way to restore it. If I try to do a wipe it will say bootloader error if i try the recovery the droid falls down with the red sign with the exclamation mark.
This tablet has never been rooted, my colleague is not in to such things, it's lived its life with ordinary acer otas and the occational very young human (5 year old) trial wich it has survived.
He has installed all the OTAs he ever got on the tablet and this is in Sweden so it would probably be a 4.0.3 acer stock on it now.
I'm guessing it has died during a OTA or something. if i turn it on it will sit at the acer logo indefinitly.
I Bricked my A500 during a rooting atempt resulting in me needed to flash a stock rom to get it working again, but i cant find the thread i read to un-brick my A500.
Please Help!

we're assuming the tab is full stock and currently on ICS...
and we're assuming he never tried to 'fix' his tab by flashing one thing or another...
the bootloader error worries me...what exactly does it say...
Yes the wipes are really important!! and not being able to use the button method to do so is concerning...
what happens with the Over The Air (OTA) updates is its just that...an update...it leaves all your settings/data intact. When you OTA from one build to another, like Gingerbread 3.0 to Honeycomb 3.1/2 and then to ICS 4.0 - you drag all your apps and settings with you and of course some things that work with 3.2 will not work under ICS....fjor instance, lots of folk had trouble with wifi disconnects, once they got to ICS - or they had apps force closing and other 'glitches'. This is why everyone tells you to do the wipes - as this fixes these things! In the case of stock ICS my gmail would f/c all the time no matter how many times I wiped/formatted....So for a smooth running tab - flash a custom rom!!!!!!
But getting back to you...
From that link i gave you...download the 3.1_Full.zip....its decrypted so just extract it and get the "update.zip" from it..
This "update.zip" is not an incremental "update" but the full stock rom....
once installed you'll be on GB you will need to root it with iconia root and then use acer recovery installer to flash cwm....(get these from the playstore)
do a backup or adb devices so you can get your CPUID....this is important...if anything goes wrong at any stage this is the only thing that will get you unbricked....see the cpuid link in my sig for more on this, please take the time to read it, even if it doesnt make much sense to you, read it anyway....
AFTER you have retrieved your cpuid, you can nvflash the patched bootloader/recovery pkg which means you are able to flash ICS/JB custom roms
they cannot be flashed via cwm like normal...you must use nvFlash to do it....
OR
take the OTA route to ICS...this takes a bit of time...I did it last week and it was a good 6-7 hours to go from GB to ICS

I am in a similar situation. Push the power button and it goes to a screen with white acer on black and stays there. Totally stock ICS, no root. I tried the update.zip thing and after automatically rebooting it says "Boot verified failed...". I don't have my cpuid, or have installed previously CWM or anything like that. I can get into APX mode. This guy here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751978 could only get into APX with no cpuid as well, but i don't understand all of the ubuntuu and command line stuff. I would love for someone to be able to walk a dummy like me through this mess. Thanks for any help.
if u got boot verified fail error you need nvFlash to repair that....as u know, with nvflash you need yr cpuid....wot about usbdeview? if you've never plugged yr tab into yr PC - then it won't work and the ONLY other way is Linux....
might be best to start yr own thread with a descriptive title, not just a help I'm bricked no uid, thread there are hundreds of those....the more effort u put into the title the more likely you will attract the attention of someone who can actually help...and remember you just don't need a bit of help but a blow by blow description of what to do and how....this will be very time consuming....at the very least get ubuntu installed, maybe just try a few things, anything to show you are capable of at least giving it a go yourself..
there are others who would like 2 know how to do this as well...having a specific thread of its own would be great
good luck

Right. Sorry, I didn't notice that before. Thanks again for your direction.

Looking at that guide, would you please tell me what a custom recovery is and how to get one? Btw, I don't plan to do a custom ROM yet, I just want to get the damn thing working first. Was thinking of using the HC EUUs from the firmware files list. However there are two files, a .rar and a .exe listed. Which do i use?

The .rar EUU is for an A500, the .exe is for the A501, which do you have?
I've got the a500. However, I decided to go with a custom ICS rom after all. I managed to put a new bootloader and custom recovery on using the a500apx flash tool. That part went fine. I flashed this rom:
Acer_AV041_A500_1.054.00_WW_GEN1-FULL-ROOT (original odex)
and that appeared to go well according to twrp, but after rebooting, it just shows the bootloader again and stops there. Not sure what i did wrong.
I renamed the rom update.zip. Should i not have done that?
well congrats for getting thru the flash process with no probs!!!
as far as renaming to update.zip that was not such a good move...hopefully things havent been screwed up too much
just go back into recovery and do a FULL wipe/format
then to flash use the option "install from zip file" not sure where that is in TWRP but it will have one
Okay. I will reflash the rom after completely wiping again. Thanks.
On a different note, why do roms require particular bootloaders?
Also different, how do you like your SGS3? If i can manage to fix this thing, perhaps I'll root my phone...

The stock ICS BL is encrypted - more or less - the only way to 'flash' a recovery or rom is to have the "key" that "unlocks" - it more or less - if you dont use the right key then the OS will not boot - the 'key' is based on your cpuid which is why everyone is forever telling you to save it somewhere safe....

Ouch. Sorry to read about running over your phone. That would kill me. I really like my SGS3. I think I'll look into rooting it just to be able to back it up and get rid of the bloatware. I did that on my Captivate and prior to today, thats all I've ever done modding wise to an android device.

Some had luck with rebooting. Others had to send it to Acer.
Did you run the update.zip? so what happens when you run the update.zip
Are you able to get into "apx mode"? If you can, hook up to your PC and see if your tab is recognised as an "apx device" - check "Hardware, Printers in win7"
Thats all I can suggest atm - if your tab does get into apx mode OK then you can find your cpuid by running Linux -
Maybe ask the guy if he's ever had the tab hooked up to his PC like to transfer files and stuff - get him to download "USBdeview" to his PC -
this will show every single device thats ever been connected to the PC and it will show the "cpuid"...
Even if we do get the uid theres no guarantee it will fix the bootloader error - but we may as well explore all the options we can....

USBDeview will only work when you have previously plugged your tab into the PC WHILE you were running HC Rom and BL
1. If you haven't plugged your tab into this pc before, do so now, before you run the program. HC ROM/BL ONLY
1a. Run the exe and you will be presented with a window of all the USB devices you have ever plugged into your computer.
2. Click on "VendorID" column along the top to sort them
3. Look for the number "0502" under Vendor ID AND "3325" Product ID
4. In the serial number column will be a 15-digit number this is your device ID.
5. Write the number down and put a 0 in front of it and now you have your CPU ID!!!
