BTY, Val, if I choose not to install the Jeff's romkitchen through bootloader method, but rather through the .exe using my window xp, do you think it's OK? (the truth is I don't have a card reader and I'm running bootloader V5.17) I really don't want to make my like harder than it is now, so I prefer the rather-straight forward route. Thank you

You can install via .exe if you wish however if you want to downgrade your ROM you will need to use the bootloader method for best results. Bootloaders are cheap and worth every penny. In otherwords, get one soon! This will also help with backing up your ROM image which is very important in case you break something. Take Care.

BUT I DO KNOW how to check whether your SD Cards are secure from erasures. If you have the programme called "PHM Device Manager" just go to the Storage Port and check the Device ID under it. It is supposed to be pre-assigned and stay intact. If after a while of launching programs and/or soft-reseting the unit, the Device ID (SD Port ID) keeps numbering up, quickly lock your sd card before everything is erased.
If mates at XDA dev happen to know what causes changing of SD Port ID, please let me know. It looks to me as if the XDA is constantly examining the SD identification and each time it does, it recognizes the same SD card as different ones.

Dear developers,
I have just also found out that the numbering up in Device ID (in Standard Disk Drive, DSK1) is 100% subject to how many times I have turned on/off the screen. Seems like the SD Card iteration is ignited each time the screen is turned off and on. ANyone, any clue to why?

on my xda currently @ dinner. Ken, I would get a card reader tomorrow and upgrade to Jeffs ROM asap. You cant downgrade right now for you upgraded via .exe. Can you get a card reader tomorrow?

No Problem. Get the reader and we'll walk you through it. Keep in mind since you used the .exe to upgrade you will need to use the kitchen to save a rom that is based on ppc2002 if you want to go back. Talk you soon.

My previous version was 3.17.03 radio stack (which is the same as now) was 4.21. The very version that one can download from o2 UK Website. I am not sure about the protocol version though.
One more thing, I've observed that all the ports (as shown in the PHM device manager programme-under "device by type" menu) have only entries in the Device ID, except for the DSK1 port that has both the Device ID and the Socket entries (the latter is set to 0 by default). Do you also use PHM device manager and if so, do you have identical settings.

good question. i have it installed but never looked at it. hold on...I dont have an entry in the ports section for a disk one. I only have:
serial cable on com1
serial cable on com2
serial on USB (com8)
serial port (com9)
I do have a standard disk drive (disk 1 under drives though. Hmmm. Any experts want to comment?

Dear Val, OOOPS it seems that I have misled you somehow. What I meant was the settings under the "Disk Drives"->"Standard Disk Drives (DSK1). I guess I must have messed things up with the port entry, sorry.

Time to get some sleep Ken. No problem at all. We are all here to help each other out. So it sound as though we have the same settings? Which type of SD Card do you have? I have a sandisk 256mb for normal use and a sandisk 64mb for flashing.

Dear Val, My device ID starts running up from 19 upto around 46 now. I guess your ID is intact, right? BTW, my SD Card is SanDisk 128Mb

App Unlock cab. for Tmobile HD2

I am still having problems installing most cabs. Only a few are working for some reason? I have searched and searched and can't find any help. Is there an app unlock that will work on my Tmobile HD2? I saw one for the Tilt2 but not sure if it would work on mine. I could use some help this is driving me crazy.

Are you trying to unlock DEMO's? Kindly explain more what does this app do as i am curious what it is? If you are, this forum does not allow it.

I know that some cabs. require a soft reset after installing but my problem is most cabs won't install. The download fine but then say uninstallable. They are good clean cabs like BsB Tweaks and several others from here, also I tried from sites like pocketpc.net and still they won't install. A very few do and one I tried was sdkcerts hoping that maybe I'd get lucky but it didn't help. I'm not trying to install any trials or anything. I don't know what else to do, I have searched and searched and haven't found anything that works yet. I'm not that proficient that I feel comfortable flashing anything yet. I love the phone but not being able to install most things sucks. Tweaking the phone is one of my favorite things, I'll work up to flashing later hopefully. If anyone can help I could sure use it.

@N1M1TZ: I can vouch that amstaff's intentions are legit, we've just been unable to get most any cabs to install for him so far.
@amstaff: I'm honestly believing that with everything else we've tried, it's proabably time to try a hard-reset...I haven't turned up anything else that could address your problem (no app unlock, etc). It's actually a very simple procedure, and has often cleared up odd issues that defy every other attempt. The only downside is that it resets any tweaks etc that you've done since starting, but if you're having trouble installing everything anyway, I'm guessing you haven't been able to make too many changes. You'll just want to back up your contacts (easy), and see if this forces your phone to behave. We'll be happy to help you through the process if you want.

Does your uSD card have a write lock switch? Not sure if the card that came from Tmous had one or not. I am using a C6 card which doesn't happen to have one. Anyway, another thing to check as this can disallow write access to the SD card.
Another thing to try is copying the cab file to internal memory, turning off the phone, removing the SD card then trying to install in internal memory without the SD card in the phone. You can always uninstall it if you wanted it on the card but this should rule out some problems.

Decim8-I looked at my card and there is no lock on it. I don't think that would be the problem anyway since it does install a few cabs. That's what I don't understand I can't figure out why it will a couple but so many others it won't? I know the cabs. are legit cabs. and they are from reliable sources and people. It's better than 90% of the cabs. I'd like to install keep saying uninstallable. I tried your suggestion of installing to the phone directly without having the sd card in and still they won't install. Downloading them to card or to hard drive is no problem only the installation.
Has anyone heard of an App Unlock cab. for the T-mobile HD2? I just don't know what else to do, I don't want to flash as I don't know that much yet and I saved for quite a while to get this phone and a HD2 brick would be terrible.

There is no "app unlock" cab. It make no sense that some cabs install and some don't. Are you making sure that they are cabs and not zip files? And you are leaving the cab files together... not un-zipping the cabs? (cab files will look like a rar or zip file on your pc.) All the files you are using are single files ending in .cab, right? And you are copying them over to your device, then launching them from your device?

They aren't zipped. I had a Fuze before this phone and never had a problem like this one. I'm doing the same thing with this HD2 as I did with it. I download to the sdcard, then try to install. I've downloaded to card and tried to install to card, I've downloaded to card and tried to install to device, I've downloaded to device and tried to install to device it's always the same thing.

Java Unlock for HD2
I get certificate messages when trying to install unsigned Java apps. Particularly mTorrent. cant be authorized because c=us;o=verisign, inc;ou=class 3 public primary certification is disabled.

Possible solution
The same happened to me when I first got the phone. I found a solution in this. First back up all your data from the SD Card. This is really important as yo will loose everything that's on the card. After, Format the SD Card to Fat 32.
Now import all the cabs to the SD Card and install them.
If for some reason you still cant get the to run try this cab. They are certificates that help overcome the security locks.

I have the same issue. Tried downloading/test a couple of different adroid builds and after a restart found the file "is not singed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found."

Cab install - solved
Had issues with this previously. Had to do a hard reset with the power + up/down volume buttons at startup.
This corrected the issues with cabs being locked out.

[Q] maximum apps?

I am from holland so excuse me if my English isn't proper.
Yesterday I 'updated' my phone with windows 7. And I started to connect the device with the pc (all going very well) to put some apps on it.
1) I can't use market place and I can't find something to use it in any other way. Zune says that it is impossible to connect from my location.
2) When I use deployment it now gives an error, 0x81030119, this meens that the maximum of apps is reached, and that I have to delete a few. How in hell is this possible, my sd card has 8GB, and when I connevt it says that I have 6 GB to use so where lies the problem?!?!?!
I hope someone can help me, cause I really like WP7 but if it has a maximum of apps I don't really know if I want to keep WP7.

,and second to help you read all the discution on forum how to instal xap "aplication for wm7"
but most of all instal a weriosn whit chevron preinstaled or change the sd card .try whit one who is biger in capacity

that's right, i think that all you need is chevron unlocker.

You need to remove the side load limit, and you will then be able to download as much as you like.
Unzip the attachment, and use application deployment or Toms installer, and put into you mobile. In the menu you will now see (RemoveSideloadLimit). No touch that, and mow you will see (Set Max Sideload Apps. Touch that) Thats it go start downloading loads of apps.

Hey guys thnx a lot I am gonna try these things and will lett you know in a short matter of time, however I already have chevron unlocker (cause I have to use that everytim in order to deploy XAP files).
Another thing I don't understand is that I don't know how to put other files on my phone than xap files. Like the sense file for wm7. It is on this forum, and I downloaded it and all, but I don't know how to install it because it isn't a xap file. And the deployment is only for xapfiles.
Is there an answer to this question too?

Hey Chevron unlocker I already have, so that isn't the solution My sd card is good because he does find him. And says that I have enough storage to put files on my phone, and music and pictures is also not a problem to put on the phone.
Other solutions maybe?

I also have this problem, I have also instaled NoSideLoadLimit.zip and many apps... but I couldnt do the No-Relock things but coulds, so my phone got locked. unlocked again but now I cant load any apps, even if I uninstall almos all, always Error - 0x81030111

I only get the error that my memory is full. When I uninstall one file, I can put a nother one back on the phone, but after that the same message appears.
So I can only put like 10 apps on my phone....

hello im jr I hope im in the right place this time I think my last thread got removed cuz I posted in teh wrong section I hope this is wright one this time
I have a new hTc hd2 and I have only had it for a week
I have some questions and need some help with it and im hopeing you guys will help me because I dont want to mess my new phone up or lose my phone number
So this is whats up I am curently a veriZon customer for 6 years & my contract is up I wanted to up grade to the htc trophy WP7 but I coud not aford the high price of owening a smart phone with a 30$ a month data plan. anyway to make a long story short im ending my service with Verizon but I want to keep my same phone number witch verizon sead I could do if I got a new phone before thay cut my phone off so I bought a used htc hd2 after reading that it could run wp7. its a T-moble usa version so I fallowed all the tutorials and flashed the back to the future ROM i then pluged it up to my pc with a fresh instalation of the zune software i was then given an update the phone reset then i receved another update so i thought everythang was good but this is ware im starting to get confused
when I first installed wp7 I contacted microsoft and got my activation code and activated it. I gave them my phone number even those i have not activated my t-moble prepaid sim card yet. anyway i instaled a bad .xap file that messed up my phone so i reinstaled everythang and used the activation code agin all went well but hear are some of the problums im faceing
1. I cant run conection setup
2. The htc hub dose not seam to be working corectly
acouple problums im haveing are
A.cant find my location witch is Ocala, Fl
&B. thare are only 2 applications showing in the htc hub
&C.if i go to windows market place/HTC Apps I Have 2 downloads & 1 update showing at the bottom if iclick on them it shows app updates photobucket is listed i click update all then im on a screen that says marketplace /downloadeds it shows photobucket and connection setup both say...

4.When my phone is conected to the pc it dose'nt seam to be charging very well the battery life dosent seam to be lasting very long at all
i have tryed sugjested settings for prolonging battery life but nothing seams to be working however useing the wall charger seams to charge the phone much faster however it drains to quickly for mytaste im use tomy samsung reality going 3 days with out needing a charge! if someone can help me with this i can post some spects from batery tool!

Your phone is not changed to a HD7, as you say, the phone tells you it's a HTC HD2.
Try to change that first, then see if the other problems persists.

also i experianced another problum last night trying to down load a game flowers it sayed i needed to update my zune software?
witch is as i am aware of is curently up to date but i dont see how to verify that? i dont see a zune up date option?

Hey, before you activate your sim, try installing an original HD2 ROM. Dont have the thread address to insert. But this can help give you a working phone at an excellent data plan...

I dont see how installing an orignal rom is going to give me a data plan?

anyway i activated the sim this morning i just told them i didnt have a phone to put it in yet!
so i didnt have to give them any information on my phone
i havent put the sim in the phone yet im awating confermation of wether its safe or not also what do i need to do to change it to say htchd7?

Hey, ummm that was a misunderstanding. The link to flash you back to winmo 6.5, was to give you a starting point and prepare your phone for what ever updates/ROMS you wanted to use, HD2 Toolkit is a life saver (no pun intended) for me. .
Currently, I'm using Mango [ROM]Back to the Future [XBmod-Yuki] [7720 ready] [28/08]....and I will probably get another device to use Android...

That's what you were saying right? that you needed to be able to use your device and keep your number from Verizon? If you want to use Android and WP7, you will need to search the Threads... I've learned that the SD card is not available with the ROM that I'm using.

Edit agin okay after much playing around i have come to find that my htc hub is not working corectly i have downloaded all the free htc apps but thay dont show up in the hub and if i try to update any of them i get an error
plus it wont show my location nomatter what i do!
i have deleted it permenetly and restarted and reinstalled from windows market place but still the problum existst!

1. HD2toolkit, and knowledge I possess... well from my use of the application (user experience), I've been able to flash task29, start from scratch. Fix boot loops by using task29 and flashing stock ROM.
2. Booting Android from 4gb sd card, using "back2future ROM" from XBmod & Yuki.... well my friend, as of yet that is not going to happen. The sd scard becomes encrypted and usable only by this particular ROM.

okay so i was just thinking about the htc hub problums
and i think i need to reset my phone and run conection set up be4 i activate it useing the microsoft code and that would probly fix my problums do do u guys think thats a good idia ? will it work or is that totaly pointless?

Maybe a basic solution but did you tried starting with an other card. First with a different provider, then a card from T-Mobile again (but not the same one you are using now!). Then you can check if your SIM is broken or bugged or that the slot isnt working.

i will try that and see if it works because i do have my sisters sim card i will post back the results!
Edit:yeah i cheacked her card and it wont work ither i called t-moble and thay say everythangs fine on thare end so im thinking i need to change my radio can anyone give me advice?
the card was working fine be4 i upgraded to mango!

when boot
hold down red get to aMAGLDR V.13
1 go to 10.services -hit green
2 go to 1.boot settings- hit green
3 go to 1 boot sorce -hit green
4 go to 3.wph from nad
NOW YOUR SIM WILL WORK!

just kidding, well done for sorting it, if you are really desperate to get android and WP working together then you could install android to ANOTHER SD card, so when you want to swap OSs you just pop out the WP SD card an pop in the Android one.
To be honest, I filed my Android stuff in the recycle bin, after months on WP i can safely say i aint going backwards, but oh how much would i pay to get WM6.5 running of a SD card!!

@dazz9075, I had that same thought about using a different sd card to run Android from magldr as the sd build. The only thing is having to Carry two different sd cards, a big hassle. Hopefully we will be able to dual boot like earlier releases....

yeah i have a blank 4gb micro sd I wana use to try I just cant deside wich flaver to use

I used honeycomb ADW theme via American Android ROM (sd/mgldr build), ran fairly smooth. WP7 updated, like after third or fourth hard reset. Now have some tmo apps that were not present earlier.
I do like Typhoon's CM7-android.

hay im trying to use the free talk application from google when I start it I sine in and it shows me my settings for a second but then just exits

Cannot download from windows market after activation

Hello forum,
I am very new here. This is the first time I tried installing windows 7 rom on my phone and I am so glad that XDA community have made it so easy to do it. I installed PDAimatejam 7.5 tango latest rom posted in the forums. After installing the rom i setup everything and went to market but could not download anything it required activation code. So i got one from microsoft and entered it. The phone got activated however I still cant download from market. It goes to setup market account window and then fails to do so and gives me error code 8000FFFF. Any ideas?

I tried that already infact i installed another rom and then installed this one back again. Now i got additional problem it says my sd card is damaged :laugh:. My god! Somebody just help me please

your card is locked if you tried Yuki (BTTF) ROM... this rom is only which lock card.. if you not use Yuki ROM then simply is compatibility problem (card not damaged, you still can use it)....
if you locked card then first unlock it with sending DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab file to phone

install and run, in option select "format size adjustment" to ON, format card

Thanks I am trying that now. Btw what is the reason i cannot access market>? even after my device is activated. I think I will go back to android. Loved the interface though. This was my first time on windows mobile and i loved it really. I cannot access market so I think I will be missing a lot of things. I will give it a last try and then go back to android if I am unsuccessful yet again. In the mean time please keep posting ur suggestions. Really appreciate it. Thanks

first time in most case marketplace work sometimes you need to wait...
no rules...
also is better to use WiFi internet connection not data connection
also be sure you have hardware radio 2.12 or 1.15 flashed on phone..
also dont forget, HD2 device is not original WP7 device and anything can happen... also almost all problems with WP7 is related to incompatibility with SDcard...

Thanks. I had installed yuki to check if i could download from market.but it did not so i reverted back to pdaimatejam rom just to get sd card damaged message on first boot so I tried like what you said, installed yuki again so i could unlock the card and its giving me the same message on first boot too.

boot to magldr menu
* 10. Services, 4. UseLast24NAND
* 10. Services, 5. ClearSD MDR
* go to 5. USB Flasher and try flash Yuki ROM again
phone after flash must start WP7 and the you send cab file for unlock... this is only way to unlock card without old Nokia phone

Yup thanks a lot. I did as you said and my sd in unlocked and i am back to pda rom. But still no market . I tried using wifi. but still cannot access it. It cannot detect my region. Right now Im in thailand. Could that be a reson? Market is not supported in Thailand? It tries to detect my region and then gives me error code 8000fffff. Ill wait till tomorrow and see if things get better. Anyway thanks a lot!!!! you guys rock.:good:

maybe your Live ID already locked to other region? then maybe to open new Live ID? to change Live ID, go to Settngs - about - reset (this is hard reset) and after restart setup new account

I tried that. Made a new live id itself before activating the phone and used that one. but still i get error message when its trying to setup my marketplace. It says loading in country list then gives me error msg and asks to try later. Someone was telling me abt chaveron unlock or something like that? And what does market fix mean in this PDA rom? I thought market would be working out of the box. The version of windows is 7.10.8779.8. Everything is working like a charm except market . The phone is so snappy that I just dont want to go back to android. Will that chevron unlock thing help me? I dont want to try without asking because yuki rom already gave me enough trouble .

I feel so ashamed to bother a lot, but I know nothing about windows phone and I just cant get past this market thing. Thankyou very much for all your suggestions. Please if you dont mind do keep suggesting me some ideas untill i fix this damn thing.

forget chevron unlock... this is very old way unlock and not working with new ROM's... now all ROM's are full unlocked and this is 100% better than old chevron unlock
did you sync phone with Zune?
if nothing helps, try use US English marketplace... dont have any other suggestion...

Finally its working, the problem was with zune account. I created a new one from my pc and used that and its working like a charm now. Thanks a lot. Guess I will be around windows 7 thread for some time now.

How to change your zune account?

you need zunetag (gamertag) if download not working... not need for changin zune account
login to xbox.com with live account and set gamertag
for example (https://live.xbox.com/en-GB/MyXbox/GamerProfile)
