Rooted my stock Evo finally and wanted to get wireless tether up and running...But I am feeling to do so.
It sees the network (Android Tether) but it refuses to connect.
According to ThinkVantage Access Connections it applies the wireless settings, renews the IP address, but does configured the IP address.
Have not had success with PDA Net either whenever I try to install the PC client it says that it fails to install the Plug n Play driver and fails to install the PDAnet broadband driver.
Rather aggravating.
Any thoughts/suggestions would be much appreciated.
try the pre8 version

Same here. Switching to channel one seems to fix most connectivity issues with android-wifi-tether.
My phone is rooted, Atrix 4G, and I have tried using barnacle tether and wifi tether and I cannot connect to my TF.
How do I do this?
I understand it uses an AD-Hoc connection the tablet can use so maybe bluetooth or a hack?

The TF will need to be rooted for this method.
I have no problem with wifi tether, its a true infrastructure network. Barnacle uses an ad-hoc network and the TF will not connect to that without the work above.
What kind of problem did you have with wifi tether?
I can easily connect to my rooted Nexus One running CM7. I just run the built in tethering and connect.
What ROM are you running? Try the built in tethering if you have it. I didn't have any luck running the market tethering apps.
I have a rooted Droid and am able to wireless tether via Bluetooth with no problem. I also understand that I can't wireless tether via wifi because the TF won't except ad hoc wifi, which is what Droid creates.
What I would like to know is if I can wire tether. I bought a 2.0 USB to micro USB with a 2.0 female to female adapter and using a wired tether app on my Droid. The TF doesn't see anything, doesn't even recognize it's connected to a USB.
Any thoughts?
I just set my HTC Desire to be a wireless hotspot and my TF connects to that just fine !?

I believe this is because your phone creates an infrastructure wifi whereas the Droid is only capable of creating an ad hoc Wifi. That's why I would like to know if wired tether is possible since it would be much faster than the Bluetooth tether.
Wifi Tether 3.0-pre 14 **Experimental**

This was my only solution. I'm using my rooted Cyanogen Nexus S 4g with my unrooted TF
Wondering if BT Tether will work?
I have an original Droid as well, rooted, using wifi tether. It creates an ad-hoc wifi connection. To enable the TF to connect to ad-hoc you have to follow the instructions in the thread I linked to above, this will allow the TF to connect to an ad-hoc wifi connection. The TF will need to be rooted to accomplish this.
If your TF is not rooted, you will have to install Wifi Tether 3.0 pre-14 (http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list) on your rooted phone and enable Bluetooth tether. Then go into your Bluetooth settings on the TF and Pair to your phone.
Hi I have no router with internet connected through ethernet into my laptop which also has wifi.
I successfully made an ad hoc network with my laptop but when I tried to connect my Epic via wifi running SRF 1.2 it could not recognize it.
Any solutions?

Bump, I have the exact same question. I am trying to ad-hoc to my laptop so I can use the boxee remote without a router. I found this thread and am wondering if it would work with my phone without causing any issues

Hi, just got a MOTO XOOM and i have set up my wifi network. I currently have a extender connected to my router wirelessly and I am having problems connecting. I can connect directly to my router ( which is upstairs) but I cant get the XOOM to connect to the router ( which is downstairs) . I do currently have my laptop connected thru the extender, and it works great. ANyone else have any connection issues with a extender. This seems to extend out to more then the XOOM cause i have a Vizio tablet and same thing, it shows the extender when it searches for WIFI but it wont connect, just says obtaining IP then connects directly to the Router. Please any info would help. thanks
I have the HTC EVO 4g LTE phone with PDANet 3.5. I'm trying to tether it from laptop to my ps3. I did the following steps:
Set the network to allow sharing to local area connection.
On my ps3, I went to wired connection, custom, and automic throughout the set up, etc.
Now my issue is when I test it, I sometimes get failed or succeeded. But when I get succeeded for ip address and internet connection, I get a fail for ps network.
Please help
