Hi All,
I recently noticed a trend where many users have started new threads asking questions. In the long run, this could cause unnecessary clutter, making searching the forum a pain. I have therefore taken the liberty of starting this thread for all those who have General Questions or need help Troubleshooting their Milestone 2 for certain problems
DO NOT START A THREAD UNNECESSARILY unless you cant find an answer in this thread.
To all those wanting to post questions, read through this thread throughly BEFORE you ask your question. I do hope all will cooperate.
Thanks
Hi,
what a wonderful idea. So I will start with the first question: in settings I set my display timeout time to 10mins. Also I have a custom ringtone on my sd card /ringones that is set as default. Now- everytime I reboot, those setting are getting reseted...means, display time-out is 15 secs and ringtone some crappy preinstalled tune...why is that?
I also have to say that I'm rooted and use the internal memory as flash storage...maybe unmounting and mounting this storage causes some problems...
Anyone?

regarding your problem, you did say you think that using you internal storage as a flash memory might be the problem. have u tried reverting the internal memory back to its default purpose to see if the problem persists?

Milestone 2 calendar sync problem
Hello guys,
I'm experiencing a problem with my calendar. I have 2 calendars synced with 2 gmail accounts (work and private). When I add a new item and I fill in a random name (not a name from my contacts) in the field "Who", the new item disappears afters syncing with my account. This happens with both of the calendars. If I don't fill in this field everything works perfect and when I fill in a contact, it also works but the contact then receives an invitation.
Does anybody has the same problem?
Thanks

No Brand Battery does not charge
Hi All,
I just unboxed my new Milestone 2. I have a couple of No Brand battery of my old Moto Dext.
When i'll try to use this nobrand battery on milestone, the battery icon have a question mark inside, and when i attach charger i got this message:
Battery is not valid and is not possible to charge. Please replace with a original Motorola battery. (Sorry for translation)
If i use an original battery all works. There is a way to use a NoBrand battery inside Milestone 2?
Thanks a lot.

if you read through that thread, one of the concerns is that using a non original battery would cause a warning from your phone. this is mainly because many non original batteries are prone to leaks and power surges, which can be rather detrimental to your phones components. it is therefore advisable to use original
however, if you notice in that thread, there are several types of batteries of different powers used that did not bring up any exclamation or warning from the phones system. i reckon the only two solutions would be to either use an original battery by motorola or one of the OEM ones recommended that do not bring up the warnings

Hi,
i know risk about using not original batteries. I have 2 no brand batteries took in a shop in London a years ago for my MotoDext (Cliq in US). They cost about 16£ eachone and still be good. I'm very disappointed about this motorola policy. I have to thgrash 2 good batteries and buy a new one. This is the main reason for my request.
Thanks

Thanks in advance!
Have you tried a reset?
u Sure its a original and not a chinese copy?
first off i find it interesting that you joined jan 2008 and THIS is your first post!
if you've been here since then you'd probably have noticed by now that most people include as much information as possible when posting if they want their question answered.
And.. not to mention you probably noticed each forum has subforums with different categories.. like the one for GENERAL? I don't see Android DEVELOPMENT having anything to do with your phone not starting.
let's start over.
A. what version of the phone did you buy? unlocked?
B. what carrier are you using it on?
C. is there a SIM or a microSD in the device when you are attempting to boot it up?
D. What version of windows are you trying to connect your device to?
we might have a better understanding of what's going on if you could answer these questions for us.
Killerskincanoe i use my acount only for tutorials, downloading applications and roms and till now i didn't have any problems with my phones.
I bought the phone from Ebay unlocked and i used with Vodafone but worked fine with Orange..etc.
My phone is Prototype Ap1 and my Pc sees it like Xperia X4 but the phone is 100% Xperia X10 because i used few weeks and everything worked right.
I tried to boot it up with/without sim or card and nothing changes.
I'm using Windows7 64.
Krabman i don't know the combinations of buttons to try an hard reset and i can't install the driver.
Sorry for my english.
Any help will be apreciated.
I would contact SE to get the button combo for the reset as its not in the manual which only shows the menu path. You did pull the battery and let it set for a few minutes before putting it back in right?
Hi. (Hai noroc.. )You can try the following. Go to the official sony ericsson website, and download UPDATE SERVICE. Start it, then follow these steps:
-Remove and re-insert the battery (make sure it's more than half)
-Press the back (<-) button while connecting the phone to your PC (keep pressing untill further notice)
-Usually after the phone has been correctly recognised, it will let you know.
Even if it's a prototype it should work and update the SW.
My only concern is.. How the hell did you manage to buy an acceptance unit online?!..
And more.. WHY did you get it? It's a known fact that prototypes are the most unstable..
Anyway.. if the update service doesn't work.. It's most probable that is a very early proto, or a chinese replica like reb0rn said.

I think I have finally, fully bricked my Droid 2.
A little background: This is my fifth one, mostly all for hardware issues stemming from poor craftsmanship in the refurbed phones. This one though, is gone as far as I can see it. I got this phone last week, and had waiting a week to make sure everything was fine. It was, so last night I rooted it and tried to put Epic 2.7 on it. It failed Epicly (no pun intented) and I was forced to do a full SBF on it. In the process, something got a hiccup and I was left with Droid 2 flashing "Service Required" and a RSD Lite telling me it had 100% successfully flashed. I tried once again to flash it using the SBF from a different source, and the battery died halfway through. The USB port won't even engage now so I can't charge my battery, even when it's off. When I try to turn it on, it says "Service Required" then below, it flashed "Battery Low, cannot run" or something to that effect. Well, can't flash it if I can't charge it, eh? I'm stuck in a catch-22 and I can't really see a way out.
I'm going to try my luck tomorrow and take it back to Verizon, claim it's their fault (my ERI reflash code was manually changed in one of my older phones I had received, so anything is possible now) and jump ship to a Galaxy or something non-HTC. In the mean time, is there anything I could try and do to remedy this?
Note: I didn't know where to put this, sorry if it's in the wrong section.

This is the correct section And if your phone turns on at all, it's not bricked Your phone would need to be 100% gone to be bricked
Hmm. Perhaps the statement "My phone hates me and put me in a catch-22" is a better qualified statement then? haha.

Probably I was just trying to cheer you up
For you to be able to do anything if your battery is really dead you need to find away to charge it or get a charged battery to try to do another SBF. Make sure the SBF is the 2.3.20 verizon version (assuming you have the 2.3.2 update)because the 2.2.0 version won't load on your updated D2. If you aren't succeding in windows there is a linux method that anybody can try via my ubuntu livecd. I'll update this post with links when I get on my laptop.

This happened to me as well. You need to find another battery to use or buy a 3rd party external charger.
The phone will only charge the battery when software is installed. The phone is nowhere near bricked but you do need a full battery to SBF back to a workable state.
I don't think Epic 2.7 should be used on updated D2's because I don't think the ROM is compatible with the updated version. I could be wrong though.
I seem to remember an editor at engadget or bgr had this problem on an original droid? I think they made some Frankenstein charger with a jumper or something and got it to charge so they could fix their software. They wrote an article about it.

Have you tried to pull the battery? I can't help you about what caused the error, but that should at least reboot the phone.
nvm, i just figured out how to take the battery out. problem solved
yeah I took it out and it worked...i didn't know i could pull the battery but I figured out how to do it
yeah, it's the simplest solution to problems like that. Just be careful not to do that while flashing roms. Even if the rom seems to be stuck. It's best to wait at least 15-30 mins.
What do you mean "flashing ROM?"
The term flashing is basically installing a new rom onto the phone.
I'm use to the computer terms where cmos bios chips were fproms and installing new firmware was called "Flashing"
Just be very careful with your phone. The terms that describe specific actions are golden on these types of forums. If you don't understand the terminology, please double check everything before you proceed with changing things on your phone. I know it is a fun world to play in, but one bad move can ruin your device. I'm not trying to be mean or to discourage you, I just want to make sure you have a fun and safe time without having to reprogram everything because of one "minor" mistake. We all started where you are now, so we understand the mysterious world. Just stay safe out there, friend.

Hi guys
I have a bit of a problem and maybe some of you can figure out whats wrong...
I have a bug on my phone that when is off the power still shows the charging icon (well its more like starts and then ends charging not always the charging icon).
The phone seems to be working well and i can't send it to repare... 1 month of waiting is a bit too much.
Now my real question is that on GB theres no intrusion on this but in the ICS its always showing a error message and i can't do a thing on the phone until i press ok.
Does anyone knows a way (by setings or by any program or even coding something) to remove this irritating notification?
Thanks and hope you guys give me ideas of how to fix this

It's annoying, I agree with you.
I suppose you have already asked people in your Rom thread for help? And no-one was able to provide any?
As a last resort, I'd go all the way back to rooted GB, then flashed LP1 Repack, then reflashed your current ICS Rom. It's a long way, but you're sure to get a clean start with no annoying notifications.
I'm not saying that you have to do it - that's just what I'd do.
Should you decide to follow this advice, this is how you can get back to GB safely:

Thanks for the quick reply but this is not a problem with bad ROM installation... What I wanted was a way to remove this notifications box in ICS, cause this problem I also have it in GB only in GB does not show up this stupid dialog box every 2 seconds...
Easy! Happened to me once!
Reboot in cwm and wipe: cache, dalvik cache, batterystats and reboot! Done!
This can happen when a new rom is installed.. so the batterystats becomes "corrupted" and starts to report wrong voltages and wrong temperatures.
I know the steps that i provided you will solve it!

Hmmmm it also happened to you??? And when the phone was off and unplugged did it also show the charging symbol?
I thought it is hardware related cause it assumes its charging even when its unplugged and also when I reverted back to GB stock Rom and a costum Rom...
I'll go try it now and report if it helped.
Thanks a lot man, hope it will fix it...
If the above advice doesn't correct your problem, try cleaning the USB port and contacts CAREFULLY. You may have some debris shorting out your contacts.
Do a search. People were reporting similar problems several months ago.
Good Luck!

That may be a solution... With what can I clean it? Alcohol it's good for that? I don't think that I have anything this small to fit it the usb port to clean it up... I'll manage something cause the earlier advise didn't seem to.help :S
Alcohol should work. But I would just try air first. That might clear out any "pocket dust" that may be in the port. Be careful...that port might be fragile!

As u sugested i've given a surch over the forum and i found that this is a too much normal issue to be let unknown to the responsables of Samsung not take care of this... I've seen different kind of work arounds since a replacement for the USB port (guess it's not's needed to replace the all mainboard to fix the USB port) to blow dry the phone. I'll try with a blow dryer but most of the users say that it didn't fixed it... Only opening the phone and cleaning it IP inside out. I'm not that at ease to opening my phone without breaking anything lololol so that i won't do, bit if USB ports are not to expensive and easy to install in a last resort i'll buy one and go see if there is a soul that knows how to do it
Thanks a lot for the help
I did replace my N900 micro USB port!
When i got my phone back it got a scratch in the screen! (not made by my friend)
Guess what?
The replacement of the micro usb port was made by a friend and the screen replacement was on Nokia and Nokia didn't saw it was opened by another person, and they said my warranty wasn't voided by anyone! (i didn't told them about the micro usb port of course)
But that's another story!
Hope you get it fixed!

Hi, I had an idea, I have checked the battery voltage which is reading 3.03v (should be 3.7v) and has very low current so I have ordered a new battery today. I am hoping it is just that it can't start due to lack of power.

That will most likely work, I think mine would even be lower than that. but isn't there a way to charge it to that level?
Try to uninstall with wipe (ccleaner etc)+reboot & reinstall your driver from ur computer without connecting ur tab.
Then run spflashtool by download or upgrade mode (anyway which work) for a minute wait time.
The proper quick drivers & latest stock rom can be found at @azam436 thread on page 1-4, check it out.
If u ever flash stock rom by spflashtool, your nvram should be automatically backed up & will restored (cmiimw). Good luck.
