Hi guys
I have a bit of a problem and maybe some of you can figure out whats wrong...
I have a bug on my phone that when is off the power still shows the charging icon (well its more like starts and then ends charging not always the charging icon).
The phone seems to be working well and i can't send it to repare... 1 month of waiting is a bit too much.
Now my real question is that on GB theres no intrusion on this but in the ICS its always showing a error message and i can't do a thing on the phone until i press ok.
Does anyone knows a way (by setings or by any program or even coding something) to remove this irritating notification?
Thanks and hope you guys give me ideas of how to fix this

It's annoying, I agree with you.
I suppose you have already asked people in your Rom thread for help? And no-one was able to provide any?
As a last resort, I'd go all the way back to rooted GB, then flashed LP1 Repack, then reflashed your current ICS Rom. It's a long way, but you're sure to get a clean start with no annoying notifications.
I'm not saying that you have to do it - that's just what I'd do.
Should you decide to follow this advice, this is how you can get back to GB safely:

Thanks for the quick reply but this is not a problem with bad ROM installation... What I wanted was a way to remove this notifications box in ICS, cause this problem I also have it in GB only in GB does not show up this stupid dialog box every 2 seconds...
Easy! Happened to me once!
Reboot in cwm and wipe: cache, dalvik cache, batterystats and reboot! Done!
This can happen when a new rom is installed.. so the batterystats becomes "corrupted" and starts to report wrong voltages and wrong temperatures.
I know the steps that i provided you will solve it!

Hmmmm it also happened to you??? And when the phone was off and unplugged did it also show the charging symbol?
I thought it is hardware related cause it assumes its charging even when its unplugged and also when I reverted back to GB stock Rom and a costum Rom...
I'll go try it now and report if it helped.
Thanks a lot man, hope it will fix it...
If the above advice doesn't correct your problem, try cleaning the USB port and contacts CAREFULLY. You may have some debris shorting out your contacts.
Do a search. People were reporting similar problems several months ago.
Good Luck!

That may be a solution... With what can I clean it? Alcohol it's good for that? I don't think that I have anything this small to fit it the usb port to clean it up... I'll manage something cause the earlier advise didn't seem to.help :S
Alcohol should work. But I would just try air first. That might clear out any "pocket dust" that may be in the port. Be careful...that port might be fragile!

As u sugested i've given a surch over the forum and i found that this is a too much normal issue to be let unknown to the responsables of Samsung not take care of this... I've seen different kind of work arounds since a replacement for the USB port (guess it's not's needed to replace the all mainboard to fix the USB port) to blow dry the phone. I'll try with a blow dryer but most of the users say that it didn't fixed it... Only opening the phone and cleaning it IP inside out. I'm not that at ease to opening my phone without breaking anything lololol so that i won't do, bit if USB ports are not to expensive and easy to install in a last resort i'll buy one and go see if there is a soul that knows how to do it
Thanks a lot for the help
I did replace my N900 micro USB port!
When i got my phone back it got a scratch in the screen! (not made by my friend)
Guess what?
The replacement of the micro usb port was made by a friend and the screen replacement was on Nokia and Nokia didn't saw it was opened by another person, and they said my warranty wasn't voided by anyone! (i didn't told them about the micro usb port of course)
But that's another story!
Hope you get it fixed!

Hey there. I have my Galaxy S II (GT-I9100) for about a month, and since a couple of days ago it has been behaving very weirdly about USB and charging.
First of all, the phone thinks it has USB connected at all times. When I go to the settings menu try to enable mass storage it says USB is already connected, even though it isn't!!!
Sometimes when I start the phone it goes to that USB Kies screen and says "connected", when absolutaly no cables are connected AT ALL!!!
When I turn the cell off, remove the battery and plug it back in, without turning the phone on, the recharging battery icon appears, but blinks with a drained battery icon with a yellow exclamation sign and a thermometer which I sincerely have no idea what that means.
It also takes ages to recognize the power charger or when I really connect the USB cable. And finally, when I take them off, it also takes a while to "perceive" they're off and remove the charging lightning from the battery icons.
PRETTY PLEASE, SOMEONE HELP ME OUT, as I don't have time to take the phone to service, and didn't really want to do that
Thanks!!!
This has also happened to me and loads of other SGS2 users! Although usually it only happens sporadically and not constantly. It seems that it's a bad soldering job or dust/dirt has gathered in the microUSB port. You might be able to fix it, if you're *really* careful.

Last night my phone wouldn't even start charging, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. With the smallest screwdriver I could find, I carefully 'lifted' the tiny PCB in the USB jack while blowing in at the same time. Sure enough, some sand particles fell out, and I haven't gotten carmode'd in nearly 13 hours now. Previously it would do it once every 15 minutes. So far so good, it seems.

Thanks for the help... but what is PCB? Is it the connector inside the "hole"?
Tried that and it stopped thinking USB was connected the whole time... on the other hand, it doesn't detect when I connect the USB cable

You can't talk on plural when you only point out one thread. And I've read that, but it isn't the same as my phone doesn't go in "car mode".
My phone's problem only resembled a problem JaX3RiR briefly mentioned in the middle of the thread.
I tried googling it before posting anything anywhere, but couldn't find anything useful.
Please don't try to look like a smartass like that and embarrass yourself. If you got nothing to add to the thread, it's best if you sit out of it. It's much more appreciated when helpful people like JaX3RiR post...
Hi,had the same problem, tried reflashing back to original firmware, but still had the same problem,,the only way i could boot the phone was through recovery mode,(reboot)Had to send phone back for possible repair??cut a long story short they sent me a new phone,,They said they couldnt repair the fault, something to do with the usb charging system,,So i would advise anyone with this specific problem,to send phone back, and get a replacement..hope you get it solved
Thanks mate, I sent mine today as well... I hope they act the same with me, as I'm afraid customer service around here always tries to incriminate the user not to use the warranty...

There is no reason to be angry, I'm just trying to help, and just wanted that we all post in one thread, so it would be easier to track later.
I just posted longest thread. Here is another one if it helps to justify:

I'm pretty sure you have the same problem. Sometimes Vlingo starts, sometimes phone thinks its charging, when trying to boot it shows battery image and won't boot, can boot only recovery and do restart from there.
Get of the high horse when people are trying to help you.
Are you sure you didn't connect USB cable upside down or bended USB port with the cable?
I have no idea what Vlingo is, and obviously I didn't connect the USB cable upside down. I don't think I bended the port with the cable since it still recognizes the cable for charging or booting and going directly into Kies mode, for example.
I am not on any high horse when people try to help me, as you could see my response towards the guys above. Your post wasn't sounding helpful at all, you were just sounding like "hey, you dumass noobie, don't open a new thread for yourself, check the forums first".
By the way, I also took a look at that thread you posted before posting mine, but I have no idea what is "car mode" on my phone...
Sorry if I sounded rough. I thought it is similar issue, so I posted link to longer thread. I had this issue myself.
Peace. Let us know what the service say .
This happened to me one week ago while on holiday....that temp indicator while charging plus the other stuff you mention....
Plus the phone went into flight mode and won't come out....
Got home and did a reset and phone now doesn't recognise sim card...
great phone but I'm a little disappointed

Hello,
Had the same problems aswell, only mine had a bunch of other problems aswell:
When I shut down my mobile it restarts itself and then shows a yellow exclamation mark with an tempgage. Only way to turn on my phone is to connect it with the charger, turn of my phone again, remove the charger and then the phone turned itself on again but without the temp gage.
My phone also thinks its charging when it is not, and when I am actually charging it, its not charging.
Also my PC does not recognize my phone so I am not able to update it.
I have also sent my phone for a repair, I will keep you guys posted.
greets from the netherlands
Yep, mine only got fixed by going into service. It got its mainboard warranty switched.
T- Mobile sent me a replacement phone
They seemed to know the symptoms when I explained what was happening
Same fault for me. Mainboard replaced, works fine now.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
How did you guys get it fixed? Did you have to ship the phone out somewhere? How long did you have to wait to get it back? What was the process?
Thanks.
Mine is going to be repaired in two weeks.
I was the 8th SGS2 since tuesday which came in the repair center.
The repair guy said it is a manifacturing fault.
The phone gets hots, and outside temperature is cold, so it makes moisture in the phone.
This cause the phones power management to get fu up (SGS2 has a small battery inside of it, and that gets fu up). Only fix is replace hardware, but 9 of 10 times Samsung gives the fault to the customer. They say it has water damage and can't be fixed in warrenty...
I'm going to write a huge article about it, and I hope it will get published by a lot of site's soon. Phones he admitted having the problem: SGS1, SGS2 and SGSN.
I charged my GS2 2x by USB and it's discharged faster than by the sector
The USB power isn't enough for charge up the GS2 correctly
Are you guys suffering from rapid battery discharging, i have all of the above symptons but my battery drains within hours...I`ve even bought a brand new battery off ebay that is exacly the same issues... I`d like to send it back to O2 but i`ve rooted and flashed custom firmware...
Hi all, I normally don't like to post questions because i feel like the answer is somewhere online, and i almost always find it. Apparently this is one of those times i can't. Bear with me as i wanna make sure i dont leave anything out.
My problem is simply that my HD2 will not find any access points when i turn on my wifi. This started happening to me with a previous HD2 i had about a month ago for no aparent reason. I had not changed or flashed anything on my phone around the time the problem happened. I figured i would ignore the problem because i had 3g anyways but then that HD2s touch screen failed so thats why i ended up sending it in for a warranty replacement.
Now i hoped that since i had a new HD2 that the problem would be gone, i mean how could it be possible that the problem would appear on a brand new phone. So i went about doing my usual. Installed 2.08.HSPL, followed by MAGLDR, followed by MIUIAndroid.com rom, same setup i had before the problem began. I made sure the first thing i did was turn on WiFi on first boot of the phone. To my suprise, No access points found. I know it is not my router as i have connected every other device im my house to my router, including other androids and windows phones. I thought maybe its a MAGLDR/Android issue. Flashed back to WinMobile 6.5 and still no acess points. Tried every radio available and still no access points.
Bottom line is im really confused how this can be with a brand new phone. Im pretty sure its a software issue but im out of ideas.
SO please if anyone can help. Please :'-(.
Just found out this morning that it can find my access point, but only if i literally lay it on top of my router. if i go more than maybe a foot away from it then nothing.
It sounds like a hardware issue. I read about these things having issues with a connection to the antennae that can be solved by taking apart the phone and cleaning some leads.

Sounds strange that such a new phone would have a hardware issue already. at this point though, im willing to try anything. how/where exactly would i clean/find these leads?
Check this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834199 and this: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1190180, but be aware that opening your phone might void your waranty. Good luck
is that the only rom you have flashed? and was it nand, or sd etc...??
make sure because it could be a simple error in software as well..
something you can try and report back before opening up the phone

I first got the problem while it was still stock. then i flashed miuiandroid.com's rom with MAGLDR and still. then i went to tytungs ICS Beta4 roms and still. now im back to the miuiandroid rom. so it doesnt seem to be a rom issue.
also all the roms were nand

Thanks so much to you and everyone who helped me out. Im going to see how much longer my warranty is because the only reason i would really send it back is if the touch screen fails AGAIN (happened twice already) but that wont happen for at least a year. So if warranty is gonna expire before then ill fix myself. again thank you to everyone.
Hi there,
My phone not turning on not without battery and SD not with home and volume+ and power button not with both volumes and power nothing at all not even vibrating when charging I am not sure if it's the battery but it was charged before I rebooted once rebooted it didn't turn back on I am on aurora ics and cwm.
I didn't have any problems with it partitions might of been wiped but I guess this would leave me with access to bootloader or anything or a vibrate on charge at least it happened as I was formatting another device but put the wrong sd on ubuntu so I started to think it might be the battery except it was charged unless it decided to leak all the charge in no time.
Also it doesn't do anything on usb or charge connection no vibrate no led no light buttons no nothing just nothing.
Sounds like my issue...
If in fact you did format the whole 3.69gb partition, then you wiped the phone.
So far, my only recourse has been to attempt a JTAG and install a bootloader.
I'm thinking that maybe I can try some form of "wire trick", like the ones used on the HTC Sensation, but I don't want to blow it up by shorting something unrepairable.
If you find another solution, please reply as it would be helpful to others.

nope i didnt format 3.96 gb it was 3 mb and it was shown as linux cd gadget also it worked afterwards until i rebooted next day then blackness the thing is i cant seem to find a battery to try with so i need to try everything first
The one I have here wouldn't start charging the battery until I force-fed the battery directly. (use a 4-5v charger and directly charge the battery for a couple of minutes).
Mine worked, but I made the mistake of formatting the entire partition (3.69gb), so now the phone does absolutely nothing.

I am a bit confused here so now when you plug it you can do something to it since it's charging? I guess I never did the 3.69 thingy if I am not mistaken..So lemme ask you if I tried the wall outlet for example instead of the USB to tv or laptop would that help to start it? I am thinking of replacing the battery and see what happens that's if I can find it here in Turkey the Turks always into the newest phones so this one is ancient to them to find a battery for...
Mine is in the same state. But I know that in my efforts to get it to start again I accidently wiped the the entire partition. Can't turn it on, can't get a pink screen, not a thing and haven't beenable to find any solution. So I guess all I can do is sit back and check the postings to see if anyone else has the same issue and knows of a way to restore the boot partition.

I'm thinking of trying to run MTTY 1.42 and talk directly with the qualcomm chip to send the boot files myself, but I need to know what I need and where it goes first.
I did this with the HTC Kaiser (AT&T Tilt) with some success.
That was on Windows XP though...not sure if it will run correctly on Win 7.

Take it in for repair mate, it could be the battery, usb charging port or even your phone. No way we can tell from here. Btw i think the S5 is a great device, you`re just unlucky, it can happen sometimes.

To be sure try to unroot in the TR/superSU app, flash a stock rom and data factory reset.
As the follow up reply above suggests, you need to start by separating software from hardware issues. You can probably find out a lot more information by looking at the system log i.e. run a logcat to get more verbose details about the charging error. Depending on what you find there, you could proceed to steps such as resetting the battery stats or the suggestions that follow in this post.
If you aren't willing to do a logcat then the first thing that you should try is booting to recovery mode and wipe the system cache That may well resolve your issue right there.
If not, then heed the advice in the previous post. Backup anything important to you, then flash a 100% stock ROM, followed by a factory data reset. If that resolves the issue then the cause was almost certainly corrupt system files or settings.
If the problem still remains, then you have to start looking at hardware causes, starting with trying a different cable, different battery, gently rocking the cable in the USB socket at the base of the phone to try and discern if the pins are bent or making irregular contact, etc.
Whether the problem would be repaired free of charge under warranty is uncertain as we don't know yet if the cause is an unexpected failure or something that might be attributed to abuse e.g. dropped phone or damage to the USB port from rough use.

HI there,

no sound from videos or music with or without headphones!
on calls i managed to gain my sound back by unplugging and plugging in the headphones several times but nothing else, my music is now 'incorrect audio file' when infact they are all the same files that previously worked
Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem since Sunday. I was originally running the Antares One/Alucard CM12 build and the sound stopped. I reflashed it, reflashed the official CM11 and now I reflashed the stock rom, all with factory resets, but nothing. On the stock ROM it is the same thing as you - startup sound 80% of the time but nothing after. The sound worked once for maybe 30 seconds but that's it. Also phone is always rebooting/freezing with system ui stopping. It is really frustrating.
I am using the SGH-I337M (Rogers Canada) Galaxy S4.
Thank you.

Here you can get the latest modem for your phone. The idea is that it MIGHT fix the sound problem. Many people say it does.
The only other thing I can suggest is that you flash the stock rom again, via Odin.
I did this for my phone and now stuck at the Samsung bootscreen with know waranty void 0x1
I installed a new speaker - still no sound. So except if it comes from the inside connectors, it seems to be a software issue. But I don't understand how it persists after wiping everything and reinstalling any ROM - stock, CM11, CM12....

Not sure, but... Did you try to re-flash any "new" Kernel (stock or custom) and what about flashing the modem?

Yes I tried everything...
So I took the phone apart to verify that everything was well connected on the logic board, everything was ok but i still reconnected everything and nothing. From what I understand the problem is the Audio IC on the logic board [1], that's why I can't play any videos also.
The audio IC needs to be reheated, but I do not have the tools/experience to do it. I looked for logic boards, they were 70$ on iFixit but are now discontinued, and I am not sure if they will be available in the future. On eBay they sell around 200$, and at that price it's not really worth it considering the age of the phone and it also doesn't guarantee its gonna work. I prefer to add more money to buy a One Plus One or Moto X, even if I don't have much money.

Still no sound after various room flashes, I get random restarts and booting with no signal/inoperable screen until the phone restarts again, once in a while I get sound on start up of the Samsung logo.
I've triedwiping cache partition and factory wipe, flashing wifi fix and bootloader
Don't know where to go next!

Looks like the problem is the "Audio IC" Chip, but a really don't know either. I would try heating it like said at the link you sent.
It might sound really nuts, :silly: but....Home made solutions "I Would Consider" doing is heating "re-soldering" the chip: (It depends how desperate you are).
- Try some "small repair shops". They might have some tools for it, and usually are cheaper.
- A Blow-dryer, some can get really hot, depends how long, how close, etc; I would also try covering some other parts;
- The Oven. LOL. Seriously, I did this with a friend. Was a old laptop mother board with problems with the video. (Pretty much soldering problem). We did "baked" it, don't remember how long it took, something between 20 to 40 minutes i guess. We used a tiny piece of a solder wire, we left it in a easy spot to see it, when when it was melted we considered that the rest was also in the same condition. We left it cool down, and...... Voialá, the laptop was back alive. Some months later the problem came back. This process was done arround 4 times before the board died for good.
Search for this "oven" solution.
Good Luck!! :good:

Thank you for your answer.
I tried the blow-dryer, but it didn't work.
So I finally found a friend who had a heater + experience in soldering electronics. We heated the chip carefully, waited for it to cool off and it worked! The sound was back, except the mic didn't work on calls but worked with the voice recorder (but didn't have much gain). It was working until maybe an hour ago - and back to the same problem.
I guess we'll have to reheat it again and apply a bit of pressure on the chip.. it is risky but i don't see other solutions - it really is the problem.
im 99% this is software, there surley wouldnt be any sound on startup if the chip was at fault
and various rom flashes semi cured the problem before crashing again
i dont know if theres a way of completely wiping the phone and reinstalling the firmware rather than flashing?
would re partitioning do anything?
im literally stuck

I dont know about re partining, cant help you with it.
Did you tried to format/wipe via recovery?
There's a post about getting all the way back to stock, you might try it, since you had semi cured the problem before, even for a while.
Have you tried any "repair shop"? At least to hear what the guy has to say.
Good Luck!

i use stock anyway ive tried various stock flashes :/
ive taken it into several and they either have no idea or say its the speaker which i really dont believe!
i gave tried factory reset and wiping the cache
Hi,
I have the same problem i guess, first symptom i had was glitch on the speaker when phone overheat, then days later earpods distrsion sound, then they wont work anymore, the remote button on it too, did some flashes roms and back to stock, now it s random sound on boot logo sometimes, and the sound will work for 30 sec or 1 minute after, then every sound stops
Whats weird is that apps that require sound make the phone lag, it s like they can see there's a sound problem...
Anyone figured out whats the problem would be great. Pleaaase
Did u try repartitioning when flashing via ODIN?
