Hi, I have just received my new (to me) SPV M700 from a guy on the internet.
It was originally locked to Orange. Has been flashed a few times by previous owner and has Ausdim on it (don't know what I'm talking about as am new to this stuff). It's been unlocked and upgraded to WM6.1, also has Tom Tom and European maps.
I put my O2 sim in and turned it on. What I got was a white screen with the words HTC, also MO5, BO5, DO3 Ausdim, and a tune played, then windows 6.1 screen came up. That's it. Nothing else happens, phone doesn't work, in fact nothing works. Oh yes, a green light at the top right hand side flashes occasionally.
Also, l had three new styli shipped from Japan. Pushed the white end onto the pen and inserted it into it's appropriate place on phone. Came to get it out and the end has come off leaving the stylus in the holder inside the machine. Oh dear. Not my day is it.
Any advice would be appreciated.
I have experience of flashing psp's and using pandora batteries so the prospect of fiddling with flashing is not totally scarey to me. But I did get to know the machine first and read a lot before trying it. Don't want to rush into such stuff with this phone if there is a simpler solution.

Hi guys,
I realise I may have upset people by posting a question before I have contributed anything to the forum.
Will be happy to do so when I have the phone up and running.
Here's a quick introduction......... if that's the protocol.
Am a retired aged person who loves tinkering with new technology. Was first introduced to computers with the Sinclair ZX81 which had 1k of ram, yes 1k!
I even got a 16k rampak for the back. Such wonderful technology, I also had a fiddle with machine code programming.
Then I got a Commodore 64, more fun. Later on, I got a Psion, again more programming and compiling fun. Then laterley I have a couple of pc's and a laptop. Also got recently a psp and liked it so much that I bought another one with custom firmeware on it. Have had lots of fun upgrading and such.
Just got a garmin for the car too for when we go off to France for a few months with caravan.
Just a quick introduction as to who I am. Have had a look at some of the posts and I have lots to learn. Thanks for making it happen to a golden oldie.
Cheers

Hmmm....I feel for you. My Trinity has the original wm5 rom, when I boot it up it starts with the white HTC screen you described but then kicks into windows. I doesn't sound good!
As for contributing first...don't stress about it. We all have to start somewhere
Thanks for the reply, the chap who sold me the phone is going to ring me tomorrow to see if he can sort it out.
My sim is a non 3g, is it possible that this could be the problem?
If it's something so simple I should be lucky.
I was really excited about getting the phone - a bit of a bummer that it isn't working.
Cheers
Lyv
I don't think it is the sim! Does the device boot without the sim? If not then it something deeper!
No, it is exactly the same with no sim in. Oh dear.
Perhaps it can be remedied by re flashing ??? The guy who previously flashed it may have the solution.
Cheers

Before thinking about reflashing, try Hard Resetting. Be warned: you will lose all data on your phone! ...but it could be a solution for your problem.
Thanks for the advice, will speak to the guy I bought it off tomorrow evening and if we don't get anywhere consider the hard reboot. (under guidance).
Regards
Lyv
Sorry.
It was my phone you bought so hello again! It's very strange that it's not getting past the Windows 6.1 splash screen even without a SIM as it was booting fine when I sent it and if it isn't getting past their even with the SIM removed then it may be something more intrinsic although I don't know what.
Hard reset the phone by pressing and holding both the soft keys and then using the stylus to reset the phone and follow the prompts, it will erase TomTom but you have all the back ups to reinstall that and I'll ring you and talk you through the process.
If the hard reset doesn't work then I'll shove a Mini SD to SD card converter in the post to you and walk you through flashing a new ROM from the memory card and if that doesn't fix it then I'm stumped and I'll give you a refund, but I'm sure it won't come to that.
Sorry for all the hassle!
Mike
Or if you're still awake feel free to ring me (don't mind returning the call to save your phone bill) and I'll try and talk you through everything now as I'll be up for an hour or two yet, you should have my phone number in the PM I sent you on YD.
Thanks for the reply Mike, would have been tucked up in bed when you posted so will speak with you tonight. Give me a bell on my landline, notified on yd site pm. I could ask a silly question.......did you load WM6.1?
Cheers

Oh dear, all our efforts failed Looks like it's dead. Could have been dropped in transit, thank goodness for insurance.
Will have to look for another phone now.

not even flashing the firmware again helped ?
Soft and hard resetting does nothing. I tried connecting the device up to my pc with the usb cable but xp didn't have the drivers so can't access via that method.
Thanks for the reply anyway.

You need to download and install Active Sync (at least version 4) before Windows XP will recognise the phone.
Get it here
Thanks IK, will download and try again. I was on an older version of activesync from when I used to use the IPAQ.
Cheers
Lyv
Upgraded my activesync to 4.5 and connected trinity. xp detected that a usb device had been added and activesync attempted to connect. At the end it gave up with a message that the connection to the windows mobile device couldn't be made.
The device itself had the red light at the top to show that it was taking power from the usb and the wm6.1 splash screen is still showing.
No joy, must be dead.
Thanks for help
Lyv
I shall be writing a long, complaining letter to Royal Mail
From what the OP has said it sounds like the phone's reset button isn't working at all as she can't get the phone to enter bootloader or hard/soft reset the phone and the only way to power it down is to remove the battery so it sounds well and truly bricked.
I'll have a play when it gets sent back to me and may ask you guys for some help sorting it but I'm not hopeful.
Hi Mike,
Money arrived in Bank account. I've posted your phone etc back to you today, special delivery, so you should get it tomorrow or Saturday at the latest.
Hope you get some joy from PO.

Still looking for a phone ...... ah hum, am even thinking of the mda vario II
Got a new phone on the way now - it's an xda trion. Yes, I know, not one of yours.
However, I'm sure I will get loads of fun out of it.
Over to the Hermes sub forum for me.

HI all.Already five days I got home the phone with China's navy much I enjoyed it, but I just had a great sense of helplessness. From the first day I have with this phone problem: after about five minutes of operation to stop responding touch screen or soft reset helping jse since I do not even hard reboot (press and hold volume up button + camera and then use the stylus to do reset). So I excluded the battery for about 5 minutes after that time I re-inserted the battery into the device and turned on him when everything started to work so I found an item MASTER RESET and then I made it proceeded normally, but up to the display settings when I finally managed to set the display (approximately on 10 attempts!) and again the phone worked well. then I try to delete the original touch Flo, but unfortunately it did not too. when the device is put in stand by mode and turn on the device after the display was not functioning again. Then I thought to try different combinations of key presses to obtain a hard reboot. Finally, I managed to find kobinaci functional buttons: I dragged the button at the same time receiving a call (GREN), and click the camera and I have soft reset then whole screen changed color to blue and make the hard reboot, unfortunately, I stopped at the display because the touch screen does not respond anything! Did not even remove the battery! Please ask for help, please
Do you use MIO 350 with this device but I never had the slightest problem and to use non-original rom

I apologize for my English using Google translator
i think the clone rom is corrupted
infact i really dont think clone model will even let you update the rom too
it could also be cause of damaged Hardware
Yes it seems you're right. It looks at the failure of hardware
thx.
hello there. for you and anyone else with china htc problem this is the solution for it.
go to this page and download the IMG file called "update.img" from this link
then follow this steps.
1. Format your HTC memory card (Micro SD card), so it will be clean.
2. Move the update.img (you already downloaded from the site) to root directory of your Memory card.
3. Press Volume Up button on your htc and while keeping it pressed , press the reset button.
You should get the blue screen telling the update being downloaded. Wait for a while and it will tell that Update is successfull and your phone will be rebooted.
THis is it.

This I have already tried, but without success. The combination of pressing volume up and press the soft reset using stylus on my device does not work!
I only managed to make hard reset but it was an interesting combination of a call button (green) and the camera button and then using the stylus, I made hard reset the whole screen changed color to blue . On my device, which was served on the operating system was installed WM 6.1
These Chinese guys are really smart. First they invented 2-sim IPhone, now Elf... Keep going people...
Today, I wrote that my phone is defective. So I have to send him to HONG KONG. When I receive a repaired or new I know how it turned out
Anyone tried to install Onyx Rom on this device?
So yesterday I was a new HTC touch (chinese clone) and everything is still fine

If you are using Windows vista or windows 7, you need to have Windows mobile device centre from the Microsoft website installed.
Yes, I have the activeSync installed in my pc, but it doesn't recognizing my phone. I'm using Windows XP. Any suggestion to solve my problem?
Thanks!

How would I know from that picture? They copied the entire bloody device and installed WM6.1 on it, they didn't call it HTC on the front to avoid getting their arses sued or customs stopping their product, I can bet you the internals are not in any way related to HTC, what is the sense coming here with inane questions?? You already know you don't have the genuine HTC product, you knew it the minute you bought it, you still want to ask members of this forum if you have the real deal?

Hey there guys
I thought I would start up this thread for those of us who have debranded there handsets to post any and all problems we have encountered after debranding so we can discuss them and hopefully find a way to solve one anothers problems.
I'd just like to stress though that this is not a thread for learning how to debrand, if you want to know that Follow these instructions
This is also not a thread for sorting out problems relating to not being able to debrand, there's a thread for that and it's loacated HERE
So with that out of the way, i've noticed that since debranding my clock doesn't stay synchronised with my network anymore which is odd. Anyone else experiencing these problems or any other problems?
Cheers
John
same problem with the clock, although not sure if it was like that before the debrand, its on manual now instead of auto update.
Guys my pc switched off while debranding, now stuck with a X10 which after the initial SE start-up screen only shows an exclamation mark (!) and does not boot or connect to pc companion or the update service anymore. The phone is initially recognized as a SE phone and pc companion instructs you to mount the sd card which is difficult when there is nothing but an X10 and ! image on the screen.
Use SEUS and connect using back button and inserting cable =).
The clock has nothing to do with debranding, at my stock Rom its the same in O2...

Doesn't connect here's what happens
Update Service - Connects after the above method but gives an error for internet connection something about 'unable to download your phone software'.
PC Companion - Shows as detected SE phone and states 'Drag status bar downward, tap usb connected, tap mount....'. However when you can only see an image of the X10 with a triangle with an "!" in it, your left with nothing to drag down or click.
While trying my luck with different combination of hard buttons found one combination (back button, camera button, power button, volume buttons...) which prompts to Installing SE ROM... on the status bar on my pc, tring to figure out which combo did that.
Don't want to take the phone to the local SE dealer even though it's under warranty as the service centre takes between 14 days to a month even on basic problems.
Off-topic does anyone where I can get an original white Xperia X10 housing, my local SE dealer has been posting full page ads for the phone in the local paper but will have no parts available till end May.
Rgds.
Keep trying with SEUS, the problem your having with that is down to there servers, not your phone. If you keep trying you'll eventually get through.
As for the white housing, I know for a fact Ebay has some authentic white housing for about $50 I think and it comes with the necessary toolshed for the job. Fair warning though you will lose you warranty if you open your device up.

Tried over 30 times over 2 days same as above unable to download, I think it has more to do than servers being busy.
The housing is to be handed over to the local SE dealer to fit, as they won't have the housing or any other parts till end of May.
Is there any other way to recover my phone without taking it to the dealer, I bought it on launch date here, reason for debranding was to get Android market with is not allowed in this region by the Telecom Regulatory Authority, so all Android phones for the market have the app missing. We can buy grey market phones (meant for other regions about USD 100 cheaper but no warranty), for a phone which almost cost me USD 850 that did not make much sense.
Full page ads daily in the local papers now for almost a month must cost the dealers quite a lot, wish they invested that kind of money on customer service (by bringing parts for the phone before they launch it). If this was a Nokia, the dealer promises a 2 day service and repair or replacement here, well so much for the warranty.
Rgds,
Ali
Weirdly, the timings reflecting in my FB, twitter posts actually synchronised after debranding. Previously, it reflected as weird timings.
For e.g. if I had posted something, instead of showing 0 mins ago, it shows -23hours or 1890mins ago.
After debranding, all the time issues have been resolved.

Hello,
I've been trying all day to unbrick my xperia x8 phone with no success.
This is what succeded:
1) I changed the lcd
2) tried a hard reset with no success
3) tried to update with sony ericsson update software several times, trying different things each time.
4) tried all kinds of different solutions posted on these forums.
These are the problems I'm finding at the moment.
1) When I try to turn the phone on, it blinks between light black and nothing, slowly. No led turns on.
2) I can't mange the phone memory stick files when connected through usb
3) when i take off the battery and plug it usb or to the plug, i see the orange light, indicating that it's charging. But when I try to turn it on, the light never comes up again until I remove the batery again.
4) The only way I updated the phone via sony ericsson software, while holding the c button to detect the phone. But other software can't detect the phone, and the green light goes out very quickly. (unless using sony ericsson update software).
I can't find a solution for this. Would greatly appreciate some help. Thankyou.

If you used PC companion then I recommend trying the Sony Ericsson Update service. If you already tried that then, try the PC companion. If you tried both and they are not working, then use the flash tool.
Thankyou,
Yes I have tried both.

Flash tool is on this forum, search a little bit.
Ok, I just flashed it using the software version 2.3.
And I'm still in the same scenario.
I do have some questions though.
Should I flash it with the micro sd in?
After flashing it using the software, should it be ready to run?
I flashed the phone using android 1.6.
Thank you.
You flashed versioon 2.3??? From which phone?
Maybe your new LCD is damaged and it can't show anything..
@[email protected]
I believe is a typing error lol
Sorry, it was indeed.
What I meant was, I flashed the phone using the Flashtool version 0.2.3.
Sorry for double posting but, regarding the new lcd.
I bought it on ebay, and, I think it's not damaged. I also think I did not damage the phone changing it, I used specific tools and was very careful.
If it was the screen, the led should at least blink red a couple of times while turning it on shouldn't it?
I haven't notified it, you should insert a withoutPIN-SIM and after a while try to call the phone, if it is on you should ring, otherwhise...
Tried that and nothing.
Anyway of finding out what the problem really is? :s
Because I see that I can flash the phone and update it's firmware with three different softwares.
Sony Ericsson Update Service
Sony Ericsson PC Companion
X10 Flash tool 0.2.3 by Bin4ry
I have another question, can I unplug the cellphone after the firmware flash?
It says so, but the led is still green.
Just trying to find the real problem here :s
Thanks for all the support though.

i read all the post. according to your description it seems to be hardware related problem not software 100%. cauz as you said you can change the firmware. then that mean you really need some pro help. just contact with your lcd supplier and ask help from them. they can help you if you dont want to go to technician..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's what I'm thinking, but I don't think it's the lcd.
The old one shows with a crack in it, the new one shows no crack. Both show a blank screen.
Might be something else, trying to find out what :s
Ok, seems that the problem is from the new lcd.
I found this because, when I place the old one, after a while, I see the red led blink a couple of times.
And with the new one, I don't see any of that.
So, it can only be that, in my opinion.
Thanks for everything anyway.
Best regards.
Hello,
I recently bought a HTC HD 2 Tmobile from ebay .
The phone will not boot up.
When i start up the phone it leads me to the windows start up to the tmobile start up then back to the windows start up and stays there and i cannot do anything except take out the battery.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Sounds like you are stuck in a boot loop. There is a few things you can try.
First check the battery pins and make sure you do not have any that are bent out of alignment with the others or that is being hindered in anyway.
Next you can download the official Windows Mobile ROM from T-Mobile. You will have to enter the IMEI number, look under the battery for it. Once downloaded you can try to flash it via USB. Just put your HD2 into the bootloader by holding down the volume down button while powering on your HD2 and then connect it to your computer via USB cable. You will have to have Windows Mobile Device Center or Active Sync installed on your computer so you can get the USB Sync connection you need. Go to here to find a link to both, just choose the one you need for the type of windows you use. Anyway once you have your HD2 in bootloader and connected the serial in the bottom white bar of bootloader should change to USB, this means you have the USB Sync connection. When you see the USB you can right click on the ROM you downloaded from T-Mobile and run it as administrator. I do suggest you let your HD2 stay off and charge for a little while first though to make sure you have more than a 50% charge.
If that does not work you can try running a Task 29 and then repeating the above mentioned steps to flash the ROM again.
If this does not fix your problem you probably have hardware issues causing the boot loop.
Thank you so much for the reply. I will try the things you have listed. Even though i am a bit lost haha. If these steps dont work , what are some of the hardware issues that may be the cause of this? And i know this is random but can you help me load android onto my hd2? I have 2 2gb micro sd cards do i have to get a bigger card? Which android os would you recommend? Thats quick and smooth? Thx!

the hardware issue would be overheating cpu, have to get a new main board via HTC warranty (if it is not voided due to water damage or dropped).
Android is easy to load. Fast/smooth you want a CyanogenMod7 ROM, you can find versions for SD or versions that you flash on the phone itself. You can either run Windows Mobile 6.5 then laucnch Android from SD (dual-boot), launch Android from SD with no Windows Mobile, launch Android flashed from internal storage, or flash Windows Phone 7 to internal storage and run Android from SD (dual-boot).
The tutorials are all in the HD2 Android forums and HD2 WP7 forums.
initially I would try a hard reset before getting too technical.
hold down volume up and down and switch on. keep holding volume buttons, when prompted press volume up. this will restore to out of he box settings ie remove all previous data on the phone.

As far as hardware issues go it is like XDA member orangekid said overheating is the predominant reason that comes to mind. Another thing is degraded prossesor connection or degradated flash/NAND chip connections. All of witch can only be fixed by main board replacement.
Yes I can help you "load" Android onto your HD2, just click the guide link ed in my Sig. I think everything you need to know is there. well except how to run Android fro SD card, hmmm maybe I should add that. Also you can go here for more links to very useful threads in the Android General Stickie Roll up thread.
Again I have to agree with XDA member orangekid, the CyanogenMod7 ROMs are pretty creaking awesome. But I do recomend the Hyperdroid ROM I have linked in my Sig. I have used it for my daily driver for months and the only real problem I have had is the latest update to the ROM the new updated market would not work properly I would have to go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications. Then find the market selerct it and then select Uninstall Updates. Oh and make sure you do not have the check box checked to aromatic update the market or you will have to do this everytime you use the market. I am currently testing the [17 Aug][SENSE3.0] Pyramid HTC WWE 1.35.401.1 - Real 3D [V2.1][RAF 1.9GB] ROM to sort of test the HTC Sensation's ROM and to check out HTC Sense 3.0.
As for your 2gig SD card no it will work but I do recomend you consider getting a 4 gig SD card. I have heard mixed results from 2 gig SD cards that people use to dual boot with. I personally have never used under a 4 gig SD card and have never had any trouble.
Thank you all for your replies.
I will Try out all the steps to fix my phone first. then i will try to load up android onto it and i will get back to you guys. i thanked all that have helped thank you so much. i will be back around sunday or monday with an update. wish me luck! oh one more question. would a 8gb be a good size micro sd card? or should i get a 16gb?
It really depends on how much space you'll think you'll need like, are you a person who takes a lot of pics or video, do you keep a lot of music on your phone? If you do then yes I would go with an 8gb. If not then you could really just use a 4gb sd card. I use a 8gb class 10 sd card myself and store a lot of pics, roms and backups and I haven't had the need to go back to a 16gb. Also you dont have to get a high speed card either, a class 4-6 is plenty.
If you decide to go the dual boot for Android I would look up a program found here on XDA called Rundroid. It will allow you to run many different Android builds from your sd card and is very simple to use. I would give the link but I'm not by a computer right now, sorry about that.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

I dont want to comment on something and be wrong so with that I would take it to t-mobile and see if you can have it switched out under your warranty. I had a very similiar problem that it was stuck on the HTC/T-mobile splash screen and I sent mine in for repair through HTC. They fixed the issue and sent it back (for free), all I had to pay was shipping there. They do say that if they find something thats not covered under warranty like water damage/not the proper software they'll call and let you know if there will be a charge to fix it.
I will say that my bootloader and probabaly everyone elses dont look like yours. Just above the spl-2.08 mine says pb81120..also mine says Cotullahspl where yours does not. If you dont find what your looking for here on the site best bet is to send it in for repair. Even if T-mobile says you didn't buy the warranty or what ever you still may be covered through HTC. This also will apply even if you bought the phone used.
HTC repair can be found here.
were you not holding the volume down button when you turned on the phone?
I would just download/flash stock from that bootloader screen.
I was holdin the vol down and power and i bought it on ebay so.. idk if i have warenty.
Even if you bought the phone on ebay you still could have a warranty. In post 12 I linked HTC repair. If you call them you could find out if you do have a warranty on it or not. They'll ask if for the imei# and run it. Im not sure if its a two year or one year on the warranty but they'll be able to tell you that.
I bought a used HD2 on ebay as well. Mine was listed as broke and was stuck on the T-mobile splash screen. I asked for the imei# from the seller and then called HTC to find out if it still had a warranty which it did, so i bought it. I lucked out that my phone was covered under warranty, you may or may not have the same luck as i had.
Thank i did what you told me and they gave me a new motherboard on mine. Thanks alot
