NIce if it's the exact same phone as the International just with AWS bands.

that would be awesome.

This could be the result from what they've learn from the previous SGS I nightmare when it comes to update all the variants

just wondering, and going off topic, which Galaxy S Variant besides the I9000, i mean like in the USA
would be the best there is?
Vibrant
Captivate
and the others i can't remember names right now...
which one would be the best? I think Samsung may go into THAT carrier with the original phone, maybe, just maybe.

I really do hope its left untouched. Updates will come quicker since it was the variants of the original galaxy s that were getting slow updates cause of the carriers.

I really hope they'll come out with only one version with different bands. I love the Vibrant, but the i9000 is so far ahead of it already.

I'd prefer universal band HSPA+ support so that it will be compatible when we're all migrated to AT&T next year or so.

Well, the Vibrant sold the most out of all the variants in the US (over 1 million) and the Vibrant was also the closest to the i9000 in terms of appearances and internals.

Hopes its real cuz my vibrant is screwed an i am looking for phone an this is top on list

nice
Looks like a nice phone.

Really wish T-Mo would rethink this whole ATT merger thing...they could easily rise as the 3rd/2nd biggest US Carrier behind Verizon seeing all these phones that are going to/could be released for T-Mo.

Vibrant hands down. T Mobile removed the least amount of functions from stocl os and did not put to much bloatware in there. My wige has captivate and its junk compared to my vibrant

You think a handful of phones is going to triple their market share? lol.
Considering Verizon the last 10 years has not had the most impressive phones... In any capacity.... The last 3-4 years excluded. And they were still Number 1 by a wide margin.

T-Mobile G2 on AT&T?

I've been looking for a successor to the Nexus One, and this seems to be it. I just have a simple question, would this work on AT&T? I know I would have to unlock it and it would only be on EDGE, but can I do that?
I'm sure there's a way to unlock it, but it seems pretty pointless to use it on AT&T. I think the real delight to the phone is the fact that it utilizes T-Mobile's new HSPA+ network.
you can unlock it but its useless since you won't be able to get 3G or HSPA+. wrong bands. Just go get a Captivate.
Aww, but it's so pretty. </3
I read yesterday that an AT&T version of the G2 just passed through the FCC.

i only tried it for a little while because i actually have tmobile but i unlocked just for the hell of it. but its really not THAT bad just like how most of the people with tmobile on iphones. but of course compared to the speed that this phone is capable of after HSPA+ is COMPLETELY up and running theres no sense in using it on at&t LOL

A senior moderator on XDA should merge "HTC Vision"/ "HTC Desire Z" and "Tmobile G2" into 1 category. What makes it more confusing is that originally the G2 is referred to the HTC hero.... lol
OP wait for Bell Canada to get the Desire Z and get one of those.

Looks like everyone but the U.S. is getting the Samsung Galaxy S II one way or the other and it seems like future owners have been waiting an eternity to get one. Hopefully Sprint will launch its version of the phone in a matter of weeks as what is believed to be called the Galaxy Within has been allegedly pictured above.
As you can see in the comparison shot we've put together below, the basic lines and what appear to be specifications are quite the same. Give or take a couple of details, you still have your eight-megapixel at the back but this time above the flash --which also seems larger -- instead of its left.
The Sprint logo should clear any doubts of the destination for the Within and the side buttons/rockers seem to match. With its 1.2GHz Exynos CPU coupled with 1GB of RAM, 4.3-inch Super AMOLEDPlus screen and a two-megapixel front facing camera, the Galaxy Within would be the EVO 3D's strongest competitor on Sprint. For all of you out there waiting, it should be coming soon -- late July according to rumors -- and with Android 2.3.4 at that!
Sprint within sounds corny... now..

Gingerbread for Vibrant coming late this summer?

So since this tweet is from samsung canada, will the update only be available to candian carriers? And is the hardware same on tmoile us and canada? And will we get stable gps even if we dont get the update in us? I was just full of questions when i saw this. What do u think guys?
Im not sure if the Canada updates apply to us tho, if those are really for the US carriers then that would be great, tho we already have semi working/stable gps on several gingerbread roms including CM7, really all i would care about is the source drops, once we get source we can make gps work better than it ever will with stock gps. Not to mention improvements on existing gingerbread roms, and the potential for ICS support from the CM team when that drops.
The Canadian Vibrant is not the same device as the US version thus the ROM would be incompatible, but maybe this is a step towards it finally coming to US markets. We will see.

I think they are getting the Snapdragon S4 version as I believe they have an LTE rollout there as well? I could be mistaken.
Still, this is going to frustrate those who have the standard international edition, I can imagine.
Then again, Samsung is a Korean company, so I guess they're showing their locals some love.
here goes a dumb question maybe:
will the korean one work in europe?
I know it`s korea only, but if i buy it from there...will it work here?

I think Korea uses one 3G band the same as Europe at 2100.. but everything else is different.
If it takes a U-SIM, then you should be able to use it in Europe but only with 3G.
(i think this is correct.. I had a look into this too because I wanted to get a few phones from Korea)
This the setup I am hoping the Note 2 will have also

Sorry guys, but one website says this with no proof whatsoever and you all believe it?
I'm not saying it definitely isn't true, but stop complaining about it until we get official confirmation!
If this is actually gonna happen, this could be well good. If the baseband processor is the same then it might be possible to flash the baseband with the EU firmware to make it fully compatable with EU 3G bands.
We'll need to wait and see what the internal hardware is first.
Im hoping this will be a goer.

Two things have been confirmed though. Korea is getting LTE with an Exynos as the research and development was with their 4G LTE when they developed the phone.
Now 2gb of ram is the question I guess.
If it becomes true (4 cores + 2gb), wondering what will be the bettery performance... I guess, will drain at least, a little bit faster than the other versions.

quad core
2gb RAM?
LOL.. not fair, kidding... samsung could make that for the US i think, except that it would only be compatible with probably AT&T, it would be unfair for other carriers so they didn't do it.. just guessing
I'm wondering if these sites are just getting it wrong, because the model of the Note that was released in Korea had LTE and it ended up using the Snapdragon instead of the Exynos. I think that a bunch of places reported it as being a 1.4Ghz Exynos though.
What the chance of korean LTE band working on US AT&T?

Carrier IQ found?

Look what I found roaming around kernel wake locks on bettery battery stats. I hope this isn't what I think it is back from 2011 but it sure looks like it.

Sigh. I thought we were passed this. I'm having a hard time caring though this time around. Not sure why.
If I were to guess, LG doesn't have the market share muscle to say no and AT&T insisted on installing it.

ATT comes standard 32gb, probably on T-Mobile too. No SD support on USA phone models from what i've read. Maybe T-Mobile offers a 16gb and 32gb model for some reason? Thought it ONLY came in 32gb?
Just remove these two files: found in /system/lib libiq_client.so and libiq_service.so
You need to be rooted one you remove these you can confirm whether the service is dining by downloading an iq checker in the play store. Remember it's the carriers not lg that included this.
Upon further testing phone FCS during a call if u remove these files...so will have to figure out whatelse needs to be done.

On T-Mobile, at least for the One and S4, it asks whether you want to opt-in for Carrier IQ. I really don't see this as a huge deal but I mean I'm not against removing it either though.
