So since this tweet is from samsung canada, will the update only be available to candian carriers? And is the hardware same on tmoile us and canada? And will we get stable gps even if we dont get the update in us? I was just full of questions when i saw this. What do u think guys?
Im not sure if the Canada updates apply to us tho, if those are really for the US carriers then that would be great, tho we already have semi working/stable gps on several gingerbread roms including CM7, really all i would care about is the source drops, once we get source we can make gps work better than it ever will with stock gps. Not to mention improvements on existing gingerbread roms, and the potential for ICS support from the CM team when that drops.
The Canadian Vibrant is not the same device as the US version thus the ROM would be incompatible, but maybe this is a step towards it finally coming to US markets. We will see.

Nope, Canadian fascinate = t959d, tmo-us vibrant = t959. We figured it out when the telus fascinate got before use and still had battery drain, key mapping and stability issues.

Great, here we go again with all of the rumor threads and people posting starting threads for things that have nothing to do with the US Vibrant.

Nice lawsuit.
Nice thread.
Nice pic.
I hope samsung gets rolled on like saddam's army.
I would love to see this lawsuit go somewhere, but the only one that will benefit is lawyers. Phone makers just wont announce any updates until they are ready to be released fearful of lawsuits.

Yeah I don't really see this taking off. For one it is inaccurate. It states that the other branded Galaxy S phones have been upgraded to Froyo. Last time I checked none of them have Froyo yet.

The i9000 does. And the canadians.
Its just the US.
And I think samsung purposely told tmo to not release the update because it would impeed sales of the vibrant 4g, which would definitely be against the law since all galaxy s phones were launched with the specific statement of "will be upgraded to android 2.2"

I still don't see how its against the law. Frowned on yes but illegal? as long as they come out with 2.2 its not false advertisement.
The original post is in the xda vibrant general section. It has the lawyers name, number, etc. Can't link atm.

False. He didn't even put the paperwork in. He lied from the beginning, and from the looks of things he was marketing himself, and now is selling is rap music. So looks like he pulled a fast one on people. Great way for him to get his name out there.
Following on from the announcement that Vodafone AU is testing Gingerbread on the Galaxy Tab, looks like Optus is also testing it on the Galaxy Tab.

I don't think se are talking about a fake news. Vodafone Australia is also reported to be testing gingerbread on the tab.
A call to our fellow australian tabbers. IF you get Gingerbread send some our way pleaaaaaase
I'll be sure to upload it when I get my hands on it!
Australian tabbers asked vodafone on twitter. They said they are still testing for 2.3 once that changes they will post.
I read on another forum whose name I can't remember now that an Optus rep said it would be out mid-May for what it's worth.
still in testing GINGERBREAD

Your right
Looks like Telstra's a no....
Might have to look at rooting the Tab and loading up an overseas version of 2.3.3. Asked Telstra a simple question, got a simple answer - NO...

I know I'm quoting an old post, but I'd like to try again to flash my tab with whatever's better out there. I've had it with the wifi dropping out - it's been 6 months now geez. If I hadn't stupidly bricked it the first time I wouldn't have this problem anymore. Now where to start....
Does anyone have any updates on Optus pushing gingerbread out to the Galaxy tab. KIES is still not showing anything. If not what ROm should I go to if the last one Optus pushed out was P100XXJMA which looks to be the European one according to the list at the start of this thread

It has been confirmed that the SGS2 will get Icecream sandwich now when we gonna get is another thing, only bet is if Sammobile can get an early leak for us before its officially released which I dont see happening in atleast another six months has they will defo give atleast 3 months for the nexus to sell before pumping it out for the other phones

Samsung italy said that ICS will be released in Q2. Maybe earlier there will be some leak
Given that the source code is out there, would any of the custom rom developers be working on it? or do they wait for an official samsung release before customising. I am new to the whole thing
Hell, if one of them wanted to go crazy with it they could make a fortune selling it at a couple bucks a pop It's probably against the spirit of the whole thing though.

The source code for ICS has not been released yet and won't be until the Galaxy Nexus is released.
When it is released, ICS ROMs will be a dime a dozen. Some will be great, some will suck ****. With Cyanogenmod being free, no one will pay for another rom. Charging for a hacked rom might also land someone in some legal hot water.

Great attitude, lets spam the forums just because we can!
/facepalm
shows how much my noob finger is on the pulse. For some strange reason, I thought the code had been released on the announce date last month.
Back to my box then
that was the SDK
All the devs here need is a full leak then maybe we can have ICS before the official release. Soooo anyone care to leak?
My take is, it is definitely getting 2.3.4 and 2.3.6 but no time as to when, and 4.0 is possible but no official word yet.

Those mother ****ers. Instead of ICS in April, they are gonna give us 2.3.4 or 2.3.6
Could you not see that happening?
I just got off from live chat with verizon and the rep told me that she does not know if it will get an ics update but it will more then likely. I can about guarantee you none of these reps know anything about any of this they just have a list to of catch phrases to say for each phone to keep the customers content until there contract is up, or they get the one year upgrade.
Just got off from another chat with a different agent and she said there is no way for them to confirm any kind of update for the device. I have screenshots if you want proof.
Typical Verizon run around. I don't think they have a damn clue.
I doubt they do the rep tired to sell me the galaxy nexus, she was going on and on about it already having ics on it and i should get that phone if i wanted ics. I told her that if verizon doesnt update the play there isnt a chance i would upgrade my device i would switch networks.

Until another network has equal voice quality, and voice/data coverage, they won't loose customers.
There will be an intermediary release before the VZW Xperia Play receives ICS, but it will receive ICS
