Yes, my thoughts too. Also, I'm not going to start another thread for this small rant, but now that vzw has the droid charge, at&t tmobile and verizon all have a samsung phone with the puzzle lockscreen. Why do we have to be left out!!!

Sometimes sprint waits for the grass to settle before spreading more fertilizer. They usually have an inane sense of what to plant and what not to plant. The Evo and Epic were barn stormers. The Nexus S 4G is ratecheting it up a notch and I expect they will be batting them out of the park soon.

What a POS?
Hopefully in a year they will announce a new nexus device with dual core or what not for sprint or a decent htc device....

I was going to say it looked like the metro pcs galaxy indulge...

Cough, source says Transform replacement, cough.
I think it could be a Transform 2 or possibly a Samsung Replenish with a Keyboard? Look at the hard-keys at the bottom.

You're right, it's actually the Samsung Transcribe.

The screen reeks of Photoshop, as does the Sprint logo.
Not to mention the semi-ridiculous specs:
600mhz Dual core processor? It wouldn't make much sense to invest in an underclocked dual-core vs the Hummingbirds they are using for mid-range phones.
320 x 480 3.4 inch Super Amoled, not worth the money to produce an entire set of panels for a device that won't sell well at all.
Also that keyboard and body are from the MetroPCS Galaxy phone.

Nexus 2

Okay, so I've had my Nexus one for a while now, and I was wondering what they could possibly do to the nexus 2 that would make it even better. I'm thinking probably a faster processor, and more ram, but what else comes to mind?
would love to see a FM Trans to like "broadcast" to the radio....Like those transmitters for mp3 players....Would be siiiick to have pandora or something playing over car radio via my phone
Don't they have something that does that already?
better use of the snapdragon processor, but that's software related... I would like it to be more durable such as made from a single block of aluminium. Also a powerful graphics chip.

The HTC Legend is a sexy beast lol. I'd like to get my hands on one if it goes GSM.
Yeah, a more powerful graphics chip would be awesome, I just can't wait til the big developers start moving towards android so we can have some of the awesome games and apps the iPhone has.

I second this. God that thing is amazing. But it won't look right until the Supersonic comes out. THEN a decent Rom will be possible in my eyes.
But with Windows Phone 7 I can imagine the devs are busy porting that to it right now.

Not that I could care less... but I would really love for the N2 to have a true multi-touch screen to shut that debate down... 1GB of RAM, 4GB internal ROM, 4" screen, XVGA LCD or SuperAMOLED... I don't like AMOLED for outdoor use. 10MP camera, with xenon flash... and of course Android 3.1!

For less than $500 right?
I will be keeping my Nexus for 2 or more years, whatever comes around the corner - i'll just port it over to the Nexus.. since the N1 is like the G1 in terms of development and popularity, I should be ok for a while..
(this is really what I'm just telling myself.. I dont want my precious Nexus to become.. not worth the time of day anymore...)
Why does technology have to advance so fast!! =(
front facing camera for video chat, a high quality speaker-phone, a kickstand with a projected laser keyboard? an hd projector component
hardware keyboard
x
I myself am sick of the having to chase technology.... I'm done for a bit, my n1 will sufficient for a year, I think thats a good time to get a new phone, once every year...
N1 just needs adobe flash and apps to sd and ill be happy as a cucumber....
Video recording capability @ 24 frames per second (constant!) with DECENT audio quality ... like the Milestone. Why have a 480x720 video resolution when the video is laggy and audio is utter crap? Also a flash option on the video recording would also be good - again, just like the Milestone.
Finally, make FM radio work and you have the perfect device.
the 1ghz processor is enough for me. the current amount of ram is enough- maybe a tad bump is cool.
get rid of the amoled display, 4-4.3 inch display. no trackball. sleep/wake from a hardware button like g1/mytouch. being able to shoot hd video.
other than that... having the nexus one has finally made me not eager to look/have the next best cellular device. this n1 almost kicks my netbooks ass

Only problem? Samsung. They've never been amazing with firmware updates. Their app drawer is also really, really ugly.
"Successor" seems a bit of an exaggeration, too, considering this uses a 1 GHz Snapdragon anyway. It's the same generation. I'd consider a device a "successor" if it's the next step up--1.5 GHz processor at the very least.
I bet it will be awesome...until the next version of android comes out.
what about rom/ram?
I'm impressed they have xvid/divx playback in there. I imagine it won't be long until we get that on our nexus one.
And the size??
I mean 4" screen is cool to have, but the whole phone gets bigger...SamsungPad ...but I like the front camera

This I can't disagree. The S looks like an iPhone clone. The N1 has its OWN style.
Also, there's the HTC Supersonic: basically a HD2 but with Android on it. Sleek as hell, WiMax/4G support, and an even bigger screen! It's about the only phone currently that makes me lust a little.
cool phone, unfortunately looks too much like an iDoesNot.
I just want the codecs/binaries ported!
Super amoled is amoled and touch sensors in the same layer
Htc supersonic ftw!!!!!!!!!
I dont see this phone being thinner as a good thing. The N1 is thin enough as is. Make the Samsung a little thicker than the N1 with a hard keyboard and im sold.
Hmmmmm...
No sir, I don't like it.
WHY DON'T WE GET THE GOOD PHONES IN CANADA I hate that....
Not bad, not bad at all.
Would ditch that UI though.

“Supersonic” now "EVO" HTC EVO 4G coming June 4 $199.99

http://www.engadget.com/2010/03/23/htc-evo-4g-is-sprints-android-powered-knight-in-superphone-armo/
The handset is centered around a 480 x 800 4.3-inch TFT LCD, with a Snapdragon QSD8650 1GHz processor under the hood (the CDMA version of the QSD8250 in the HD2 and Nexus One), and even a helpful 1GB of built-in memory and 512MB of RAM -- hello app storage! Even the battery is bigger than the HD2, and the camera is an 8 megapixel monstrosity with flash, that's capable of 720p video, and is augmented by a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera for good measure. The phone features HDMI out (though you'll need an adapter for turning it into a TV-familiar HDMI plug), 802.11b/g WiFi, and an 8GB microSD card
HTC EVO 4G features the latest version of the increasingly popular Android platform, Android 2.1, offering more than 35,000 apps as well as a mind-blowing list of features, including:
Simultaneous voice and data capability in 4G and Wi-Fi coverage areas, enabling Web surfing and more while the conversation continues.
Offering a new way to search with pictures instead of words, Google Goggles works with everything from books, DVDs and barcodes to landmarks, logos, artwork and wine labels.
Superfast 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor ensuring a smooth and quick movement within phone menus.
Two cameras – an 8.0 megapixel auto-focus camera with HD-capable video camcorder and a forward-facing 1.3 megapixel camera.
Built-in mobile hotspot functionality allowing up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices to share the 3G or 4G experience on the go with a laptop, camera, music player, game unit, video player, or any other Wi-Fi enabled device.
Integrated HD video capture with the ability to capture and share live video via the Qik Web site, Facebook, YouTube or Twitter.
Ability to easily watch video with the device on an HDTV via an HDMI cable (sold separately).
Custom Web browser optimized for the 4.3 inch display and Sprint 4G speeds to deliver a full, no-compromise Internet experience.
A handy kickstand built into the back making it easy to watch videos on-the-go.
Adobe Flash technology ensures that rich Internet content, such as embedded video and animation, are displayed the way they are meant to be seen.
Pinch-to-zoom and automatic text reflowing provide easy Web page views.

This thing is gonna be sick. And I was just starting to really like my Hero now that I have 2.1 working on it pretty well...
Mobile hotspot app... potential for concurrent data and voice calls... AWESOME.
My decision has been made... the N1 is nice but this thing, once stripped of Sense, will win.

If your phone fails 5 times they're supposed to swap it for "something of equal or lesser value"
Chances are you'd get a Moment, MAYBE, MAYBE an N1. as far as the SS, keep dreaming.
I hope they don't saddle it with a huge extra monthly fee for 4G. I'm nowhere near a 4G area, but I'd love to have this phone for its other benefits.
I'd be willing to shell out full price for the phone if they get it in the $600 or less range, but that's just a one time hit. I'm not a big fan of increasing my monthly bill, especially if the increase if for a service I have no chance of being able to use.
Will be out this summer!

HTC Zeta, 2.5GHz Quad-Core CPU & ICS

HTC Zeta rendered, rumored to pack 2.5GHz quad-core CPU and Ice Cream Sandwich

We just got handed imagery and specs of a possible HTC device in the works codenamed the Zeta. It's a quad-core handset, much like the Edge that was leaked last week, but it has a much faster 2.5GHz APQ8064 CPU along with 1GB of RAM running the show, on a 4.5-inch 720p HD display. According to our source, the uniquely shaped smartphone will come with Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed with Sense UI (version 4.0 wasn't specified, but we'd be surprised to see it any lower on an ICS device) and have 32GB of internal storage space, an 1,830mAh battery, Beats Audio, Bluetooth 4.0, an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 1080p video capture and a 1.3MP front-facing cam. Dimensions? We have those, too: the Zeta is said to measure at 109.8 x 60.9 x 9.8mm (4.32 x 2.4 x 0.39 inches) and weigh 5.15 ounces (146g). Pricing and availability aren't known, and we're still digging for more info. It certainly has an intriguing look; the sharp corners would be a huge departure from HTC's recent design choices, though it appears to have HTC's signature unibody build in the back. So are we just looking at a cool concept or is this the next flagship phone? We're hoping it's the latter.

No worries man. It happens.
Yours has the image embedded, which is more suitable for lazy people like myself
Lol. Thxz.
Zeta looks to be kick ass. Battery is stepped up nicely as well (for HTC).

Haha, it's all good man, I like the picture in there better too.
Anyways, this thing looks sharp! I wonder how it'd feel to actually hold it though. And 2.5GHz, quad-core is a ridiculous amount of processor power for a phone, it's crazy.
Yeah and the 2.5ghz??? My laptop sits at 2.1ghz...I could probably use Solidworks or Adobe Illustrator off of this phone sitting in class haha.
I wish they would up the camera sensors on it and bump up to Asia's megapixel and lens technology...13 megapixels and LUMIX lens~

They should just make it a damn tablet with these specs, lol. Give it about a 2-inch bigger screen, it'll pass as a nice small, powerful, tablet
This would be more powerful then my laptop. I think its time to get a new one.
