[REQ] Request new GTalk signed app - Nexus S General

Can anyone strip the gtalk app (signed) from 2.3.4 and post it ?
Don't want to root the phone just yet cos I want to try stock android before switching to CM, and too impatient to wait for OTA
Thanks

It's simple to install the OTA manually, no need to wait, see many other threads. Also, the APK requires other drivers, etc, so it's not a simple APK pull. Here's the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055859

Bing apk

I accidentally removed the stock Bing app a while ago when I first figured out how to remove bloatware on my Fascinate. Now I've been reading that I cannot upgrade to froyo or any ota releases without bing being installed.
Can I just reinstall it and everything will be fine?
If so, where can I get the apk from?

why are people so concerned with ota's? they brick your phone more often then waiting for it to be released by the devs
Hey, if I don't have to reinstall bing, then I'll wait for whatever.
wait for custom kernel after OTA is released, heck you'll prolly get OTA before they are pushed like the DJ05

[Q] Sprint APK's and Odex's, Please

Hey all,
I am trying to unroot my phone via the OTA update.
I deleted some .apk and .odex from the system/app since I did not want them.
Anyone know where I can find these again? Link?
Tried searching in the Dev section but couldn't find it...
Thanks again all!
Same here I just rooted with unrevoked 3.3 and read somewhere that you could brick your phone if you accept ota updates after deleting stock app's is this true? I know ppl say to wait for a rom but gingerbread ota will be to tempting..can you just reinstall those apps or is .odex necessary?

No that's not true. Just don't accept ota updates, there's always a rooted update you can flash so you don't lose root. And a rooted 2.3 update will be the same as a ota update, just easier for you. And if you're really concerned about those Sprint apps you can always run the official ruu

[Q] ? remove 2.26.60 installation file

After 3 failed attempts to install 2.26.60 on my rooted Droid Pro, and considering the various problems others are having after having successfully installed it, I no longer wish to do so. But, the installation dialog automatically reappears every 12 hours with options to install now or install later. I'd like to delete the installation file, but have not been able to find it with Root Explorer. Has anyone been able to delete it and/or know the path to the file? Thanks, JM
Same thing here, it is very annoying, specially when I have already tried several times without success...
Do you guys think that those who were unable to update their phones will never make it? Maybe Motorola/Verizon will clear the restriction for the next update?
Are you trying to remove the installation file so you dont have to update to 2.26.60 or are you trying to remove the already updated phone's install file?

I have not updated and do not wish to. The installation file produces a nag prompt to either install now, or 12 hours later. There is no option to never install, nor to delete the prompt (such as "do not show again"). I don't care if the update file remains on the machine, I just want to stop the nagging, and I do not intend to update to anything until a major version change (2.3, 2.4, etc) comes along.
Thanks, JMM
If oyu have the bugless beast rom running on your phone peter alfonso has a stopota.zip but with a basic android software, i really dont think you can. im going to check it out for ya, hopefilly ill have an answer in a couple of hours!
Alrighty this is what I found. The file that nags you about the OTA updates is a software file that also runs many more manditory components. So without a custom ROM on your android, (currently the only custom rom is Droid Pro FISSION, with a Beta RC1), is is impossible to avoid the OTA update notification. Sorry bro, thats android for you!

OK, many thanks for trying. It might be worth installing the custom rom just to get rid of it.... not sure.
the custom rom is still in beta, i would wait a bit until a full release comes out. just precautionary. if you could toatlly give me a thumbs up under my post that would be great! thank you!

Why not just flash the SBF, install the update, root with Z4 then continue on with your life.

After pondering this a bit, I wonder if you would be willing to try to get a couple more answers for me -
1) what is the file - name and pathway?
2) what are the "mandatory" components it also runs?
3) In Titanium Backup Pro apps/files list there is "Updater 2.2". What would happen if I froze that with Titanium Pro?
If you can come up with answers great, if not many thanks anyway - JM

Two reasons - 1) I do not want the update, it has caused problems for others that I don't need, and, 2) I cannot flash the sbf because I only have access to PowerPC Macintosh. No windows real or virtual. I've tried to find out if a sbf flash can be done by Mac unix(Darwin) command line from Terminal with bash shell, but no one has responded. Consequently I don't want to update and find out there's a problem because I can't revert. JM
Let me look into those questions.

Help Needed !! In Rooting Froyo for Samsung Vibrant

Hi All,
I am new to this forum/android devices. Few months back I got a UNLOCKED SAMSUNG VIBRANT phone. The phone initially had ECLAIR, I have updated it to FROYO 2.2 (t959uvkb5). I see apps like amazon mp3, slacker etc and I want to get rid-off them, when I try to use the update.zip file and ROOT the phone, I am getting an error " Signature Verification Failed".
I would really appreciate if you someone suggests me the steps to ROOT my phone with FROYO 2.2 (t959uvkb5).
Also, please let me know can I continue to use the phone keeping it ROOTed( as people tells ROOTED phones will consume more battery) or do I need to UNROOT after removing the unwated apps.
let me start by saying rooting ur phone will not kill ur battery quicker.
follow this link and it will help u root ur phone!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
that link will help u root ur phone whether ur on 2.1or 2.2.
Now for the bloatware If u delete the bloatware u cannot upgrade to 2.3 if it ever comes out. But if ur gonna not add roms to this phone and all that fun stuff, i suggest Titaniumbackup premium. It will freeze the bloatware and it will not show up in ur app drawer and then when u wanna do a upgrade all u have to is unfreeze and u can upgrade to 2.3. But if ur gonna root and do all that fun stuff with roms then u can just delete the bloatware and flash back to stock with odin to get all the bloatware back like it was never gone. Or add a rom with all the bloatware gone already and faster phone.
Thanks a lot movieaddict. I will try the steps and let u know the result.
Hey movieaddict, why would removing bloatware prevent you from upgrading to 2.3?
I've removed bloatware in the past, and used kies to upgrade to kb1 and kb5 with no problem.
Also to the original poster. You can go to the development section, and install the stock deodexed/rooted KB5. All the hardwork as already been done.

The toolbox comes in handy also

i read that u shouldnt delete bloatware if u want to upgrade from kies...cool if u did.
My experience with AIO has been hit and miss with rooting. Odin is great though, Superoneclick is better IMO.

Can't redownload some apps after update

I'm a new user to Android and with the help of some threads on here I was able to root and then unroot my phone to get the 2.3.5 OTA. My problem is now I can't redownload some apps since the OTA, MLB at bat for example. When my phone was stock, and when it was rooted the app downloaded with no issues. Now since the 2.3.5 update it says the app is not compatible with my phone when I try to send the download from the My Market page. Any ideas on how I can get this and a couple other apps to download or do I have to wait for them to be compatible with 2.3.5? I'd rather not re-root the phone right now cause I'm still having signal issues and my need to take it into Sprint for replacement.

Wait for the market to update for the new 2.3.5 build fingerprint. Once that is done you will again have access to protected apps.
