Anyways, Went to restore - phone bricks on me until i realize to fast boot with DIAIMG15.zip something like this thanks to a few good people on XDA forums to save my ass.
Now, S=OFF WTF. Why wont this flash. Never had issues like this with my nexus one.
Im trying to install
CM7 with ClockworkMod 3.X (Orange text)
S=OFF (Via Gfree -f)
0.86.000 Firmware
^ This could be the problem
Any ideas???????
/RANT

Ok, I solved my issue with the soft BOOT LOOP issue alone. And while searching for my issue or mistake I found this link which would have helped earlier. I think anyone with any issue should look at this and don't forget about the FAST BOOT Option if you think you bricked your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=986522

Ok, I rerooted and printed a check list of CM7RC4 (Clock Work Mod - Orange Compatible)
Now running CM7 - 0.86.00 was such a whore bag.

Were u using recovery 3.0.2.4?

PLEASE HELP(myTouch 3G keeps rebooting)

Ok so I followed cyanogenmods wiki page on how to root and flash his rom to my MT3G(with the exception that after i flashed the DRC83 base zip file the phone rebooted automatically so I went into recovery mode as soon as it happend and flashed cyanogens build) and the phone booted up fine. the little android skater and everything. everything was running smooth(NOTE I DID NOT DO THE 10MB hack) but i tried setting up wi-fi and the phone just restarted. i thought it was probably the first time boot thing people talk about. but then the phone randomly turns off and on while doing diffrent things(such as download apps from market ... texting a message) so i tried flashing another ROM and same thing is happening(dwangs super d rom). is there a reason for this. the guide didnt mention having to change any SPL's or radio's or anything but I keep seeing this around the forum that it has to be changed. is there a guide on how to do that and if so why doesnt CyanogenMods own wiki not mention it?
do u have 32a or 32b?
the 32b. i have the original mytouch 3g

(im assuming you downgraded to 1.5 using sappimg.nbh from hboot mode, then rebooted and installed flash_rec, backed up image, and then flashed amon ra's recovery image correct?)
so if you did all of that,
do a wipe and then flash DRC83, after that reboot phone and check to see if you are getting any uncommanded restarts. if you are not then reboot into recovery and flash your rom.
what rom are you exactly trying to flash?
My mytouch 3g also got constant reboots, regardless of whether I was actively using the phone or not. This happened with cyanogenmod and with another eclair ROM, but does NOT happen with Enomther's TheOfficial rom. I switched back to that and fixed the problem. I don't know what was causing it for me with the other roms, but it happened fairly consistently every 1-3 hours.
OK CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IF IM DOING SOMETHING WRONG HERE ILL DO A STEP BY STEP
-COPY SAPPIMG FILE TO SDCARD
-HOLD DOWN VOLUME DOWN AND POWER AND PROCEED WITH UPDATE
-BACK TO STOCK 1.5
-DOWNLOAD APPMANAGER
-MOUNT SDCARD AND COPY FLASHREC 1.1.3 APK FILE AND recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G-green FILE(CARE BEAR FILE)
-ALLOW UNKNOWN SOURCES TO INSTALL
-INSTALL FLASHREC
-BACKUP FLASH
-TYPE /SDCARD/recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.6.2G-green.IMG
-REBOOT IN RECOVERY(PROBLEMS START. RECOVERY MODE RANDOMLY KEEPS REBOOTING.SOMETIMES AFTER ONLY A COUPLE OF SECONDS)
-OPEN BATTERY COVER AND AND TAKE OUT SDCARD AND PUT IT IN SD ADAPTER AND CONNECT TO MY MAC
-COPY THE ROM I WANT TO USE WHICH IN THIS CASE IS SUPERD193 WITH 10MB RAM HACK
-INSERT SD CARD BACK INTO PHONE AND MANAGE TO WIPE AND FLASH ZIP FILE.
-ROM LOADS UP AFTER AWHILE BUT SEEMS LAGGY
-OCCASIONLY WILL REBOOT FOR NO REASON BUT NOT TO MYTOUCH LOGO BUT RATHER ANDROID SPLASH LOGO WHICH IN THIS CASE IS SUPER D ANDROID WITH ELECTRICTY.

Can't root after XTC Clip S-OFF

Hi, I was on hboot 1.01.0001 so I finally got S-OFFed today. I flashed Ruu 1.37 and now I am on hboot 0.80.0007 and S-OFF.
However, I can't root with Unrevoked (tried 3.21, 3.22 and 3.32 Windows and Ubuntu versions, where I could root the same ROM time ago).
I also can't flash a Clockworkmod recovery from the recovery I have now (stock one) for failed signature verification and I don't know what to do... Now i get Bakcup CID missing in Unrevoked too...
Please any help. It must be a little thing, but I don't know.
EDIT: I finally got it with a test version of Unrevoked. Posted in the 4th post of this thread.
Thanks

Same here. Got S-OFF and superuser is working now. Unrevoked says Can't root is you firmware to new.
Rom Manager says it installs Clockwork recovery but recovery is not working??
Anyone?

But are you still on hboot 1.01.0001? Because if Unrevoked says Can't root is you firmware to new that may be. Or have you flashed an older RUU?
How have you got superuser???

Hey! If you are in hboot 0.80 (Flash 1.37 RUU), I finally found a test version of Unrevoked here that installed Clockworkmod recovery!!!
http://rootmydroid.co.uk/guides/howto-fix-the-backup-cid-missing-error-on-unrevoked/
Option 1--> downlod the file, is the Unrevoked test version. Run it, it works!!
I hope if it useful to somebody.
Do you guys even know what's the purpose of having S-OFF?!
If you phone's NAND is unlocked, just get temp root and flash the recovery

Hey I am sorry! I did what I could. I tried Unrevoked and didn't work so I eventually got an Unrevoked version that did the trick.
Excuse me if I can't do another way without having the steps to follow.
I had the same problem first i set s-off, then flashed and older RUU, then unrevoked 3.14 and that worked for me......so good and easy and fast!

If you get the error-message concerning the cid in Unrevoked - just adb into the phone, run the __unrevoked__ script in /system and flash the clockwork-mod after that. From there you can install rooted images like you want ..

Just fix your .misc file, as descriped in this post ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824396 ) - when done, then re-run unrevoked

Rooting after S-OFF
Hi guys,
I`ll share here my experience.
There are mainly two different methods (with some variations) of obtaining ROOT after S-OFF (with XTC Clip).
1-st (and likely undesirable to me) is exactly: downgrading > Unrevoked > upgrading.
- And why so?
There have some disadvantages:
- downgrading is additional flashing of the device and is unnecessary at all (you`ll see later).
- need of connection to computer.
2-nd (very desirable metnod) is to install CWM Recovery right away S-OFF. Even this procedure is not a must, but makes your life easier. Then You can flash right from SD card whichever ROM you like.
- And what advantage gives this to me?
- Only 1 flash procedure, no need of downgrades. Flashing with already rooted ROM (any custom or rooted stock) gives you ROOT access with only 1 step.
- There is no Unrevoked procedure, thats mean no need of computer connection at all.
The most painless and secure algorithm is:
1. S-OFF (by XTC Clip)
2. Install ClockWorkMod (CWM) Recovery - Here you`ll find recovery .img and .zip for all supported models.
How to install CWM Recovery?
As example I`ll give Wildfire aka Buzz:
- You`ll need to upload PC49IMG.zip (last CWM 3.0.0.6) on top of your sdcard ( NOT in any folder).
- Boot the smart in bootloader (holding VOLUME DOWN then POWER). You will be asked to install the ZIP file (Yes is right answer). Recovery will then install automatic, DO NOT press any buttons before finishing of process.
3. Backup/Restore Your current ROM:
- Starting Recovery: in bootloader navigate (with VOLUM DOWN) to "recovery", then POWER to enter in CWM Recovery menu.
- Navigation: TRACKPAD or VOLUME button to navigate trough menus, to select them press TRACKPAD button. Use BACK touch button to back in menus.
- Backup: you`ll find "Backup" menu under "backup and restore" main menu - When pressing "Backup" then CWM will perform backup of current state of the device. If succeed you'll see "Backup complete" message.
- Restore: you`ll see this menu as "Restore" right under "Backup". The menu gives you a list of available backups to restore. There have to be at least 1 backup to perform restore operation.
4. Wipe ONLY cache/dalvik when performing next step (5.) (if you want to save all data and settings, else do data/factory reset also which is recommended before flashing any custom ROM):
- just "wipe cache partition" in main menu and under "advanced" perform "Wipe Dalvik Cache".
- "wipe data/factory reset" - perform this action, ONLY if want to flash custom ROMs. This action will RESET smart to its factory settings (you`ll lose all data and settings except those saved on sdcard).
5.(optional) Install su binary with Superuser rootpack:
- download Eclair-Froyo-Gingerbread rootpack
- place the file as is on sdcard or in some folder on sdcard (there is no need to be on top of sdcard)
- boot in recovery and go to "install zip from sdcard" menu, then "choose zip from sdcard" submenu - here you can browse through sdcard folders and install su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip (or your ROM or any update, e.g. radio, kernel etc.).
6.(optional) Make backup of Rooted ROM - see (3. : Backup)
7.(optional) Install some backup application like Titanium Backup (or PRO) or MyBackupRoot (or PRO) - this is optional but recommended. When backing up your Applications+Data you can restore them even after flashing custom ROM (which is performed after data/factory reset, and all applications and data will be wiped).
8. Install any custom or stock ROM:
- for stock ROM see 5.
- for custom ROM perform 4. (including "wipe data/factory reset"), then 5.
9.(optional) Restore Your applications and data - when Custom ROM is installed there is need to perform data/factory reset. Any backup of applications and data performed in step (7.) could be restored in freshly flashed Custom ROM.
NOTE: Later on I`ll add some additional stuff here - useful links and more deep explanation of mentioned algorithm if needed.
Happy Rooting!

But someone is going to make it to you for some $ or you bought the XTC Clip?
Because for the price of XTC Clip, you can get a new phone...

dairy of a madman

I've got me a xtc clip and found out the hard way to use it.
so far so good, S-off and I decided to get CWR to install a rooted rom
I installed CWR 3006 and so no Amend scripting and no Sense based roms
So I treid to downgrade CWR 3 to a 2version and failed.
Then I decide to downgrade 2.2.1 to use unrevoked to get root and hopfully downgrade CWR the sametime.
Yeah great the downgrade went fine but I got a touchpanel fail with several RUU i treid
what to do next I've manged to get CWR 3006 back on cause I made a nandroid backup and could reverse it
With that backup version running the touchscreen responded again alltouh in fast boot menu it still said touchpanel fail.
I've got me a full day of involving with my buzz and I'm back to were I started
very frustating.
I'm to stupid to downgrade CRW can't get root with unrevoked cause its telling me it can't flash recovery image
yeah you my laugh about me but I'm not giving up
I was wondering if someone could tell me how to downgrade CWR from 3 to a 2 version, I still don't have root and it needs to be noob proof please
i've tried so many times but always failed :-(
( if this post is offtopic pleace remove by a mod sorry I had to tell someone)
Install ROM Manager, and, install a Recovery through it. It will install CWM 2.5.0.7, and, entering Recovery Mode through ROM Manager will load up 2.5.0.7
This way, you will have both CWMs, 2.x and 3.x, which is exactly what I am following at the moment.
(Didn't read your entire thread, just went through the gist of it, sorry)
thanks for your answer
my problem is I still can't get root so I can not use Rom manager.
I've succeed in getting a lower Hboot to use Unrevoked
but it's given me "cant install recovery image", so I think it's conflicting with 3006
I do not know how to get rid of CRW and put the original one back in place.
By downgrading from a official RUU I get touchpanel-fail so I cant activate usb debugging and install from other then market this means so unrevoked can't do his job.
life is so frustrating sometime.......
me again I've been thinking about CWR.
to make a PC49IMG.zip of clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 with andriod-info.txt and the recovery.img. and give it a go.
will this function or am I just bricking the phone?
Since you have s-off:
Find fastboot binary (google)
save it somewhere
open terminal/command prompt. cd to the directory where you saved it ("cd /path/to/fastboot/")
reboot phone into bootloader. choose fastboot.
in command prompt/terminal type
$fastboot flash recovery <recoveryfile.img>
where recoveryfile.img is your recovery image (including the path to it, or just save the image wherever fastboot is)
edit: wait a minute, you downgraded your bootloader after getting s-off? WHY ON EARTH??? you crazy?
Id say some semi skimmed milk
thanks nhnt11 for your answer
to your question of downgrading bootloader got it up again
installed a oficial RUU froyo and started all over again, it solved the touchpanel fail and I installed a CRW 2.5 and I'm back in bisness
this is how I succeeded:
"Dont try to downgrade and get root with unrevoked this will end up in a touchpanel-fail ( and you have to upgrade a Ruu froyo to get rid of it)"
Get S-off with xtc clip

4) Reboot your phone into Hboot Mode by pressing Volume Down and Power
5) It will now ask if you want to update the firmware select Volume Up for Yes.
6) Remove the SD Card and Reboot Back to Hboot Mode and select recovery using Volume Down then Power to select.
7) You should see a nice ClockWork Recovery system.
8) Reinsert the Gold Card and select apply update.zip from SDcard.

Help with rom manager / clockwork recovery

I'm lost... Ive rooted my tmo mytouch 4g phone and s is off.
I installed rom manager free and did a clockwork recovery download for the glacier mytouch 4g BEFORE doing anything to phone and it says it was installed properly.. It shows flash clockwork mod recovery 3.0.2.4
When I go to manage and restore backups... NOTHING IS LISTED.
Am I looking in the wrong place for the STOCK recovery image that I downloaded!! Again there's no recovery image listed in rom manager.... Or does the backup appear in recovery mode/hboot?
I want t be able to go back to the stock tmo rom should I have issues with this phone...
Advice greatly appreciated...
U have to turn on the phone while holdin the volume dwn button, then it will take u to the clockwork recovery & frm there u scroll dwn with the volume rocker or trackpad & select backup & restore(enter by pressin trackpad not power button)
Backup ur stock rom & once done reboot phone just make sure u stay on 3.0.2.4...

Newb needs help with ROM flash gone bad

Hey Guys,
Newb here. My head hurts from banging my head half the night trying to figure out what went wrong. It's probably something simple but I just can't figure it out. I'm now at the mercy of you guys.
Everything went fine until I added the rom and reboot all it does it stick at the Mytouch 4G splash screen no matter how long I let it sit. I have no problem getting back to recovery mode and I can also get into clockworkmod and tell it to boot the rom. Then it just hangs at splash screen

Here are my steps for getting a rom to load.
1.Hold volume down and power.
2.Boots into recovery
3.Choose Recovery which loads ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.2.4
4.Wipe data/factory reset (seems to work fine)
5.Wipe Cache (seems to work fine)
6.Wipe Dalvik Cache (Get E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext])(Dalvik Cache Wiped)
7.Install zip from SDCARD
8.choose zip from SDCARD (RoyalGiner_v3.0_final.zip)
9 installs fine (Install from sdcard complete)
10. reboot system now
11 Hangs at Tmobile Mytouch 4G splash screen
Any guiadance would be awesome.
Lots of thanks in advance!
Download the rom again from your computer and place it in your sdcard and wipe cache/data and try flashing again.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Your steps look perfectly fine. I would delete the zip and re-download it. You probably just have a bad download. If that doesn't work, try a different ROM and see if you get the same issue. You aren't getting any bad errors, so I am still sticking with bad download.
Make sure to check the MD5SUM.
What i do when i flash a new ROM is this
Download the ROM to the computer
Code:
c:\adb adb push <rom_name>.zip /mnt/sdcard
it will kick out a reading that it pushed so many Kb in so many seconds
Code:
c:\adb adb shell
# md5sum /mnt/sdcard/<rom_name>.zip
it will kick out the MD5SUM of that .zip
Then i will copy the md5SUM from on the CMD prompt then "crtl &f " find the MD5SUM on the page that i got the ROM from. To make sure they 100% match.
then
Code:
# reboot recovery
then from there i do a factory reset and wipe the Dalvik cache. Then flash the ROM & G/APPS (if needed)
Thanks for the tips guys. I've tried multiple roms and all result in the same stuck splash screen. I guess tonight I will install the SDK stuff and give adp a try and see what I can come up with. I guess I missed something when doing the visionary/Gfree root. I followed this guys videos Mackster248 off youtube. Everything seemed to work but I guess something is wrong somewhere lol...

Just in the future, make sure that you check the md5sum of the download before flashing it so you will save time if its a corrupted download. And definatly make a backup with rom manager before wiping/flashing new roms.
I really appreicate the help guys. Yesterday I was able to download PD15IMG.zip recovery file and when I booted into recovery mode it detected it reverted everything back to square besides the S-OFF. Im going to attempt to root it again at a later date. I think to learn alittle more Im going to take my old mytouch g3 and mess with it.
Again Thanks
