I'm lost... Ive rooted my tmo mytouch 4g phone and s is off.
I installed rom manager free and did a clockwork recovery download for the glacier mytouch 4g BEFORE doing anything to phone and it says it was installed properly.. It shows flash clockwork mod recovery 3.0.2.4
When I go to manage and restore backups... NOTHING IS LISTED.
Am I looking in the wrong place for the STOCK recovery image that I downloaded!! Again there's no recovery image listed in rom manager.... Or does the backup appear in recovery mode/hboot?
I want t be able to go back to the stock tmo rom should I have issues with this phone...
Advice greatly appreciated...
U have to turn on the phone while holdin the volume dwn button, then it will take u to the clockwork recovery & frm there u scroll dwn with the volume rocker or trackpad & select backup & restore(enter by pressin trackpad not power button)
Backup ur stock rom & once done reboot phone just make sure u stay on 3.0.2.4...
Permrooted S=off-MyTouch 4g-White

Slow down and think about what you are wanting to say.
You rooted the phone?
you turned s=off?
you downloaded Rom Manager?
You flashed the Recovery image?
What version did you flash?
I'm assuming you flashed 3.0.0.5 since that is the newest CWRI on the application.
3.0.0.5 is only for 2.3 (Gingerbread ROMS)
Download and flash Cyanogen(mod) CM7, either of the nightlies or the RC1 will work. Make sure to also flash the G/apps. Then go to the market re-download the CWRM then scroll to the bottom and flash a older version of CW's Recovery image. OR follow True_Blues method for installing 3.0.0.6.

your phone isn't bricked, but it in "limp mode" sorta speak. To get to the recovery image pull the battery out of the phone, put it back in and put the battery cover back on, Then press the Volume down button (on the rocker) and hold it. Then pres and hold the power button. It'll boot into HBoot and you can use the volume rocker to select recovery and get back into the recovery mode. Then select "mount" the "USB' to move Cyanogen to the SD card, along with the GAPPS.
Then do a factory reset (wipe the hand held) then flash Cyanogen, then flash the GAPPS, then reboot.

SAME EXACT PROBLEM... and it was already answered.
hey guys so today I finally rooted my HTC Legend, installed rom manager, made my backup using clockwork i believe? well i installed clock work, then i made a backup of my rom, now I tried to install CyanogenMod from rommanager and also installed google apps...
The problem is now..
When i turn the phone on it keeps looping on the blue logo with the elctricity going around...cant turn it off cant do anything, have to manually take the battery out and start it up again..
Im not sure how to get my original rom back on, but i tried to get into the recovery menu atleast..I can get to the fastboot, but when i go into bootloader, then click recovery it does everything normally, it shows the red triangle, I run recovery-windows.bat ( provides in Paul's tutorial at modaco ) and it says device not found..
EDIT: before I installed cyanogen, i disabled debugging mode for something, and I dont think i turned it back on :S I think it may have something to do with me not getting into recovery...what do i do! :'(
Put the Clockwork Mod Fake flash update.zip from the Development Forum on your SDCard and then go again in Recovery, until you see the red triangle. Then hit Volume up + Power and select flash update.zip. You should boot in Clockwork Mod Recovery then.
I dont even think you need to put fake flash on your card. If you choose to install clockwork recovery through rom manager its there. The reason your in a loop is that you didnt clear enough before installing CM 6. Enter clockwork recovery by volume up and power, it can take some trys. There factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Reinstall CM 6 + google apps and reboot. You should be good to go!

OMG! Thank you so much! I booted into clockwork, and am currently "restoring" to my default one when i first rooted..hopefully it works!
EDIT: YESS IT WORKS! I FCKING LOVE U!
I have rooted my HTC Wildfire and now i need to get CyanogenMod 7 on it ...
i have downloaded Rom manager i flashed ClockworkMod Recovery mode into the phone...
But when i enter Recovery mode its just the regular Recovery screen that comes up...
I have tryied this 3 times and it still wont work (also after resetting the whole phone)
How do i get ClockworkMod Recovery mode on my phone then ?
EDIT :
I installed CM7 via ROM MANEGER and now i need to install Google Apps.
But when i go into Revolutionary CMW (Revovery mode) and try to Select "apply update from sdcard" all the text just disapers and nothing new is comming up...
What do i do ?
Flashing from rom manager will not give a permanent recovery for wildfire (when there is no custom recovery at first). But such kind of process is there for other phones.

So how to get cm7 based recovery . Cm7 needs CWM 3.x or higher recovery. The answer depends on whether u have used unrevoked or alpharev (=revolutionary) to root ur phone.
If u used unrevoked, u must be having some recovery. Here u can use rom manager to flash 3.x recovery and reboot to recovery from within rom manager to temporarily get 3.x + recovery which can flash cm7. Or u can download a 3.x + recovery.img file and use unrevoked again to flash that recovery. Here u should select the custom recovery option in unrevoked and point to ur downloaded file.
And if u have used revolutionary, there will be an option during the revolutionary process where to install custom recovery or not. U can choose to install. Or once u have s-off, fastboot flashing will be enabled. So u can flash a recovery from fastboot with the help of a PC. This is more preferrable. There are also other options. If u search the dev forums u will see posts explaining to install recovery through "pc49img" method. Also "flash_image" method. Both these wont need a pc unlike all the above methods.

Problem solved but a new one is here
I installed CM7 via ROM MANEGER and now i need to install Google Apps.
But when i go into Revolutionary CMW (Revovery mode) and try to Select "apply update from sdcard" all the text just disapers and nothing new is comming up...
What do i do ?
Choose 'Install Zip from SDCard', not 'Apply update from SDCard'
I have tryied all of them....
inclusive "power down" and not even that works its only removing the text and nothing new comes up
Use the trackball for selecting stuff in Clockworkmod. Not the Power button.
WOW FAIL BY ME !!!
Sry guys im still noob at rooting
Thank you for the help.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Accidentally updated my Hboot now I cant go into recovery and I have tried to download clockworkmod from the market doesn't show up. I have tried to google for the clockworkmod apk said parsing error. If anyone could help me thanks. I keep getting red triangle
Sounds like you lost your recovery. Download PC36IMG of amonRA recovery, put it on root of SD. Turn phone on by holding volume down and hit power button. As long as you flashed a bootloader that is indeed for Evo, it should find and install recovery. Stay away from CWM.

What hboot version did you "upgrade" to? The oldest hboot (.076.2000) is best, but I know anthrax kernel requires newer version. Not worth it to me (not to mention, I stay away from from Sense). Good luck.

hello everyone,
i was wondering if i can install clockworkmod recovery on galaxy y to perform nandroid backup without replacing my stock recovery.
i dont want to replace my stck recovery as it is under warranty
i will unroot and send it to service centre but if i have permanent clockworkmod recovery they will not give me warranty privileges
Any help will be appreciated
i will press thanks for sure!!!!!!!!!!!
There is no permanat recovery cwm for sgy unless u use a custom kernel with inbuilt recovery.
Any file like skin_1980_sgy.zip / cwm_bla_bla.zip is a temporary recovery.
They do state like replacing stock recovery in their updater script but none works like that and no one with sgy has ever claimed to have got a permanant recovery with those zips.
