Sorry but what is .141.
My FW is .181.

Sorry I mean 181

There is an update to .184 but it's only available for UK handsets, that's why your friend has it and you don't.
It's not a major update otherwise it would be more widely available.
In fact, I think that the only change relates to a pre-loaded BBC iPlayer app that UK handsets come with.

I just got mine upgraded go .184 today and I already had my iplayer before the upgrade.
Overall, it's a lot more responsive and I haven't experienced the occassional lag I used to have before the upgrade. Not sure why this isn't available to all arcs.

your battery problem is not related to your firmware.. it's either unrealistic expectations, or something dodgy you're installed on you phone that is causing it to drain.. there artists to be a problem on both firmwares with the camera app draining more juice than it should after you're closed it?

But look, that there are many users of Arc who complain about battery draining in SE. Today I used camera a lot and I havent noticed that it causes battery drain.. we need SE update!!!!

That's a load of... IMO.
The Arc's battery life is, by any measure, nothing special.
And firmware updates can very definitely affect a handset's battery life, in the same way that custom ROMs can.

you need to pay closer attention to the words people use.. I said that his battery problem was probably not related to HIS firmware. He was suggesting that the .184 update may resolve his issues.. different people have different experiences with the battery life on this phone - a number of people saying that they get 2-3 days out of it... others saying that they only get 12-14 hours.. and this across both firmwares which are currently out there... there are MANY factors which affect your battery life, and understanding them is a more effective way to improve your battery life than hoping a f/w update will solve it.

No. You said it definitely wasn't firmware-related, which you simply cannot possibly know.
There was no 'probably' about it (perhaps you need to pay closer attention to your own words), you dismissed the idea and basically told the guy it was his fault, which is not only wrong but kinda rude.
No-one here can state definitively that a firmware update wouldn't help the OP's battery life.

you're funny..

you dont really read forums do you? Battery drainage with the ARC is random and happens to many devices. Problem is SE with their crap sw.
random reboots is also a problem with 2.3.2, have you ever checked the nexus s with reboot problems due to 2.3.2?
Also due to 2.3.2 the ARC is unable to connect to my nokia carkit via bluetooth, this is also software problems.
Wifi unstable connection is also sw related

No-one's 'dismissing things that don't suit them' - I'm not debating the fact that there are a great many factors that can effect battery life, down to uncontrollable matters such as temperature and how good the signal is in your area, to do so would be idiocy.
But as I said before, there's absolutely no way of predicting whether or not a firmware update will have an impact in the future.

It's interesting when SE is going to give us the next update... It would probabely be 2.3.3

Just updated my unbranded swedish X10i to R1FB001, via SEUS!
Any noticeable differences? and how did you manage to do it?
Germany, device by o2, unbranded, no new software via SEUS.
Pics or it didn't happen.
And perhaps u can upload your firmware and give us some infos about the improvements if there are any...
Nothing from SEUS in Sweden, Telia X10.... Still, could take a few more days for branded phones to be updated.

It did happen. But not with PC Companion, who showed i had the latest version. I updated through the standalone Update Service program.
No Creatouch app after the update! The device feels a little bit quicker, through MS and TS
I got R1FB001 via davinciteam on my Rogers x10 and I do not have creatouch. The differences are somewhat better camera (http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo...eat=directlink), faster media and timescape and the pictures don't have to be 8mpx to show up clearly in contacts (not sure if this was an issue for everyone but on my Rogers x10 all my contacts had blury contact pics unless they were taken through the camera). Battery life seems the same. Nothing has improved it better than the powercycle after charge tip. I get at least double the battery life by doing this... no idea why.
which country you in??

nice pictures, but are you sure you will post your family pictures in the net ?
i wouldn´t do it, there are enough...ill people in the world, who like such pictures very much.
I for myself do not post the pictures of my children in the internet, but thats only my opinion, it has not to be yours, i don´t want to bother you or make you angry. Just my opinion.
I appreciate your concern and am not offended. It just happened to be the pictures I took and I can easily lock them via picasa.
Not available in the UK yet.... (tried using PC companion and standalone SEUS.)..
i got rogers x10a debranded and i just tried the SEUS and nothing. so i guess we gotta wait for this update.
Keep in mind that it might not be possible, or take longer to root your phones if you update.

Great news. In the next few weeks there'll be a software update available for your Sony Ericsson X10. For more information go to orange.co.uk/helpx10
That was via text. A bit useless but thought I should report it anyway.

yeah just got that aswell. im already on 2.1 with noric FW lol working fine
Really? Any feedback on that? I'm a bit jaded from my windows mobile days where doing that causes problems. I would go as far to say that my phone is mission critical because it is how my customers contact me etc... but I suppose this is an official ROM. Am I being illogical for waiting for my operators update?
Feedback much appreciated

Camera firmware update for HTC Desire HD

Not so long ago, when I connected to wifi, I got a message saying new firmware update.
It was around 40mb and it said it was an update for the camera.
I then downloaded and installed the frame rate.
I did not try pictures yet but tried some videos and I can comfortably say there is a good improvement!!!
I even tried the video camera in low light, even at 720p and there was NO FPS drop and it seemed a lot smoother than before and the colours were much better, it was not jerky but more smooth...
I would say there is a 20-30% performance increase at the minimum...
Did anyone else get this update? It was only some time last month this update appeared for me so I was wondering if anyone else got it since it has not yeat appeared in xda developers...
I have a normal HTC Desire HD, unlocked and this update came to me when I was on holiday in Egypt of all places!!
If I got this update surely others must have got the same.
Looking forward in hearing what other people have to say about the new update.
this is actually quite old.
generally, people say that camera is really a bit better now, but now we have some new problems like location getting stuck and random SMSs.
not yet in asia,zzzz
Probably fine for unrooted devices.

Yeh, that is unrooted devices having the issues. Hence HTC have pulled the most recent update. But hey not everyone knows about these issues if they haven't suffered the wrath of the 172.
So thats cool...

Can unrooted users not download it somewhere online and then just copy the update to their sd card and update that way?
I think there are ways and means, but I would wait for the official OTA update, as like i say HTC pulled it for a good reason. The notification issue was no the only one. There are threads about that. It affects all users as far as i can tell. I actually had to install a third party messenger (chomp) app to get full usage back to my phone.

Hmm, I hope the update hasn't affected my phone in anyway. The only strange thing it has been doing lately was giving me trouble connecting to wifi, does not want to obtain an ip address...
Apart from this I have not noticed any other problems...

Lol, you said that's ONE of the problems, meaning there are more!!!
Not long after updating the camera firmware, my wifi has been working like ****...
It works when it wants to, reception is poor and it does not like obtaining ip addresses anymore, even from my own home wifi network!!!
Anything I can do becides a flash/factory reset as I cannot be bothered to reinstall and setup everything unless I REALLY HAVE TO!!

The OTA is only for Branded phones from what I've heard Unbranded have to wait for 2.3 so we're stuck with the ****ty SMS bug and all the other issues with 1.72 unless you downgrade.

DHD UK Software Upgrade
Turns out its a minor update to 2.2.1. i.e. software number 1.84.707.2. Not the 2.3 we are all waiting for.
Mine is unbranded on giffgaff.

I have just checked on my T-Mobile DHD and there was an update, I've downloaded and installed it and the first thing I noticed is that USB debugging was no longer enabled, I've re enabled it. Will see how it goes.
Does anyone know if there is any details on this update, its taken me to build number 1.84.110.3.
A quick G00gle search for 1.84.110.3 is showing posts from people elsewhere claiming better battery life, better display and faster loading times for the gallery. Obviously none of this could be true so I would take it with a pinch of salt until you have tested it yourself.

Several regions had a FAKE 4.4.4 (23.0.1.A.0.167) update

Hello Folks,
to make it short, i had a problem updating to 4.4.4 (23.0.1.A.0.167), after lots of googling and digging i decrypted the files i downloaded using PCC Companion and what i got was really shocking.
the old version rom (.314) was the one included in the downloaded files, I LOVE YOU SONY, you didn't even bother to check the files you are sending to us.
Seems that the same problem happens in several regions, as lots of talk i found when googling the problem.
And that explains everything, the PC Companion downloads whats on the server as the new 23.0.1.A.0.167, while actually its the old .314, then when the mobile shuts down to the flash mode the error happens
Also here at the GENERAL forum the ROM posted twice, and they reply "its the old one", unbelievable ...
please check the attachment

if you dont like the brand then change, ranting here isnt going to change that
as for i, i have had 3 Defective Devices from sony and they Were all Z2 replacements, any other xperia i have ever used or owned has been fine, as for the firmwares for each currently supported device they are in my eyes getting better, security is getting better and other Devices which recieved 4.4.4 were rocket fast, the NeW UI is first to come to z2 aside Z3
as said previously Ranting here will not change anything, i doubt it would detour other people from buying from sony all too much.
I flashed it using Sony flashtool. All good here. Pretty much a z3 now thicker. Lol. I had a z3 sold it. And this update made the z2 a z3 no kidding.
