Mytouch 4g vs g2 - G2 and Desire Z General

I trade my phones alot on craigslist and get replacements from tmobile to get newcondition phone(started it recently) .. yes i know its wrong..
And i want to stop it.
I went through alot of phones in like 6month
Samsung Highlight.. ****ty phone
Iphone 3gs
Samsung vibrant (first android phone)
G2 (after i traded it perm root was available -. -)
Nexus one
Mytouch 4g replaced it 4 times due to washed out screen.
Back to vibrant
Back to g2 and now i want to go back to mytouch 4g..
Replaced g2 2 times to get the good one
Please dont flame me saying i have problem ialready know i have problem.. i just like to try new things
I want to stop it lol please tell me good things about g2 and bad things about mytouch 4g so i dont end up trading again
Like i said i already know i have problem just dont flame me

Yes you do.
They are both very close to the same phone. The g2 has a hardware keyboard, the mytouch cpu is clocked at 1ghz. That's pretty much it. It's not a matter of which is better, just what you prefer (that's the case with most phones). If you really can't stop then please see somebody.

bahahaha who cares if you trade phones?? who doesn't like switchin it up? i know i do. i just dont have the time. plus trading phones is much easier than seling and buying or just buying new ones all the time.. although you would just be able to swtich between your own phones..
and if your rooted you can just OC your g2. which i do to 1ghz.. i see no need for anything faster than that. unless its charging, i have it set to 1.2, just cause i usually charge it while i game.
ff camera is nice on the mytouch. gf has one. makes me sad i don't since i cant video chat unless i sit infront of mirror. but it works.
personally id take a g2.. duh. ffc doens't matter THAT much to me. and i text ALOT, main priority on a phone.. even thou i do use the on screen keyboard alot. my whole thought when deciding to wait for the mytouch 4g and getting the g2 was this.. if i am going to pay x amount for a phone.. i want the options of a physical keyboard if i wanna use one... and i love the look of it.
comes down to really, want a keyboard or a ffc? other than there there really not THAT different. all though i would take off the mytouch ui tmobile has on it.

Mt4g for more ram and better screen. G2 for hardware keyboard. Tough choice but I prefer the G2.
Nonsense!

MT4G : Plasticky feel, poor build compare to G2, no gorilla glass display, same resolution and similar screen size as G2, no keyboard, + point to a Front Facing Camera
G2 : Rock Solid Build, physical keyboard, superior performance with slower and similar processor(which can be oc'ed to 1.6 GHz), a bit bulky(good on its part as you know when your phone is not in your pocket vs. some lightweight phone where vibration isn't even felt), no front facing camera - Meh...
They both go neck to neck if we compare specs, as they both have similar hardware but personally i will stick to my G2 as it feels much better in my hand.

I didn't mean any disrespect, it was just my opinion. I have used N1 and G2, compared to both of them only one phone feels superior to me and that was iPhone 4.
I have Atrix and NS, both of them can't come even closer to the feeling you get holding the N1 and G2 in your hand.
Just personally like that sturdyness so much that MT4G makes me feel something is missing.

Must be ghetto gorilla glass cause it does not feel anything like what I have always known be gorilla glass as in the Galaxy S line. Feel a vibrant screen then feel ours!

About to do the same, but i have the anti glare screen protector. i wonder if I'm going to miss it. Has anyone removed an anti glare screen protector and regret it?

I had one.. then got an invisishield.. then took that off... screen feels nice. IMHO.. smooth.. lil slippery compared to an invisishield, but nicer.

Evo 4G & Droid X hanging out, Side By Side....

Greetings All,
Just wanted to share some pics of the HTC Evo 4G and the Motorola Droid X side by side. The pictures were taken from a Samsung Captivate. These are two high end Android base smart phone and they both looks lovely, but I know we all have our views. Like which one looks more sleek, more sexy, more refine. let the opinions begin.....
Damn tough choice, I like both form factors. I would need to borrow a Droid-X for a while to really see lol. After closer inspection Evo all the way!
I actually HATE the look of the droidx. I almost never say thar about a phone. Honestly the Microsoft Kin was seeker then the X.
I like the way the camera looks a little, but the asymmetrical thing is a dealbreaker.
I love my 4g to death. It felt like heaven fell to earth when this handset dropped on Sprint, because I already had a contract with them.
I think most reviewers of the phone don't know how to manually focus the evo4g's camera. It takes better pictures then an iPhone4 I think, despite the crappier sensor (by some measures).
The one thing about the Evo that I would gripe about is the ****ing keyboard. Oh man is it a POS.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
please tell me how to get that shinny black back on the evo.
thas a phantomskinz.com skin im betting monies on it
lol
My gf has a DroidX... I like my evo better, although I would appreciate a good music and pics transferring program like vcast. I absolutely hate the camera on her X

The sensor of the EVO is not crappier than the iPhone 4 sensor. In fact the EVO is better at taking pictures outdoors, but the iPhone 4 takes the cake for indoors. My (twin) brother has an iPhone 4 and I took a ton of pics to compare. The EVO wins easily if the picture is taken outside.

Where do you get that wallpaper that's on the droid x? Love it!

I hate the Droid X because of that ugly as hell hump.
This is a little tangential, but what is that EVO running?
Looks like ADWLauncher but with Sense clock/weather and stock lock screen.
Anyone know?
I was going to hold out with verizon and get the droid x instead of the evo. Then I broke down the math, and even with early termination fees verizon couldn't come close to sprint on a per month basis even with the extra smartphone price on the evo (we have several smart phones on the family plan). After seeing those side by side pictures I am definitely glad I switched. The evo form factor is already bigger than I would prefer (but man do I love this screen size) and the droid x actually appears a bit bigger. To have basically the same screen size with a larger form factor would have annoyed me if only a little bit. The evo is already a monster on a belt clip with a work blackberry attached. The batman utility belt jokes are getting old, but the phone isn't.
Maybe beautiful widgets for the clock

I'm appalled by the Droid X. I can't believe they didn't refine the design any more than they did. From the huge hump in the back for the camera, to the row of buttons on the bottom/front. That is one device that I would not use and I'm really surprised THAT's what they come up with as their current gen offering. The EVO is already an obvious choice over the Droid X (IMO).. Motorola is gonna get smoked by the next HTC offering.

Yep. Fancy it is. I don't know how I've missed it before (maybe because it doesn't show up in market search )
Thanks.

you know what i hate?

that when my screen is closed and the keyboard is hidden, where ever i touch on the screen the screen and the entire top part of the phone moves when i touch the screen. its like my screen isnt tight. im not talking about the hindge opening, because obvioulsy what horse has been beaten to a pulp, but the screen itself. i apologize for the rant, but i just want to see if anyone else has the hate as well. only thing wrong with the phone!
I do not have this problem. You probably have a defective unit.
your screen isnt loose just a tad? i might just be over thinking it. i mean i just can feel the the screen just move a little when i type on it.
I too have never had this issue...you should take a look into that.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Just pushed on my screen MUCH harder than I would in normal use and it didn't so much as budge. Think you might have a bad device.
Yep me too,.... My hinge is definitely loose but there is no movement whatsoever when the device is shut.
Warranty!!!
Mine does that too. My wife's does not and my original one which I warrenteed already didn't either. But my replacement does.
The plastic casing must be slightly warped enough to misalign the little bumpers.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Yea I have this to, really annoying. I had one of those clip on cases on my phone for a while , it might have been that which made it loose.
It depends on which way you are holding it when you push on it, if you hold it perpendicular for example it has this issue.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Mine will rock sideways if you try (and if you're tapping around on screen you MIGHT feel the gap on the left side change), it's not all that much though - and the 3 G2s I've used were all like that.
yeah, thats what i mean. like the way the hinge was made, it doesnt quite sit the phone flat on the keyboard piece. im glad i see other peoples g2s have it as well and im not the only one. its mainly when the phone is in portrait and the top left part of the screen is touch it rocks just a tad.
My condolences to all who have these petty little problems..and i mean that..no sarcasm at all here...
Even with that...and the ballyhooed hinge hysteria...

For a phone with such great build quality/feel, something like the OP's problem (and mine) is fairly annoying. This feels like an executive class phone...for the first few weeks. It is a sweet phone/device. Too bad it's not perfect like my Vibrant, errr Nexus S, err.... Still waiting for the "perfect" phone.
lol
I was hanging out on Slickdeals and saw all the G2 love (yes, people really loved getting their phone free on cyber monday).. then a thread came up for the HTC shift.. and all the sprint guys were bashing it.
It's the same damn phone.
Still makes me laugh.
Best phone I have ever owned without a doubt, not a huge fan of the Z hinge but without it the keyboard wouldn't be so flush and ergonomic, its a small price to pay for superior user-friendliness
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I have to agree with all the DZ/G2 love here. It's a fantastic phone. Aside from VERY minor issues with the hinge tightness (though, there seems to be some 'hardware hackers' working on that! , this phone is as close to perfect as I can imagine. I *love* having a hardware keyboard, and it's waaay better than the G1. (Though a ctrl/alt key would be nice for ssh sessions!).

vibrant vs g2

is it me or is the vibrant better than the g2 by like a lot? i mean yeah the g2 has official froyo and all but i think that its pretty complicated on flashing stuff to the g2. i recently got it and on the first day i had it on a boot loop and it took me like 6 hours just to fix it and the funny thing is that after all the work fixing my semi brick i messed it up again trying to flash a gingervillian rom and i had to call tmobile for a replacement but then i fixed it so now im paying 20 bucks for expedited shipping and a replacement g2. anyways what im trying to say is that i think the vibrant is way better to do stuff with it like flashing roms and mods and all that. maybe its just me because ive had the vibrant for longer than the g2, where the g2 ive only had it for like two days already and i already managed to get traumatized by semi bricking it. and also i think the vibrant is way better because the 720p recording is better, the samoled screeen and awesome speaker and just more amazing. yeah i know i might sound like a vibrant fan boy but i honestly like my vibrant better the only reason i still have my g2 is because its keyboard but im sure im going to trade it for like a mytouch4g or something oh and may i add that the damn g2 is heavy. ugh. so thats just my opinion on that. no offence to the g2 owners, and im also not a noob to this stuff.
You probably won't find too many people who disagree with you in the Vibrant forum.
If you're gonna sell the G2, just keep the cash. You really don't need two phones. If you must have two phones, I'd wait to buy a dual core.
I sold my g2 for my Vibrant. And I have to say out of the box the g2 was better because everything worked. (mainly gps) but with the fixes and custom roms I am much happier with my vibrant as ccompared to the g2. Better display and wayyy lighter phone. And most reviews between the 2 will crown the vibrant ad the victor.

Lol I went from vibrant to g2 and g2 to mytouxh 4g if you want deal with htc qc issue then ok. I sold my myotuch 4g and came back to vibrant.
G2-loose hinge(the phone wobbles even with keyboard closed),no glass its plastic screen, loose battery cover on some of em,dead pixel
Mytouch 4g replaced it 5 times due to qc issue examples? Washed out screen (1/2 is washed out screen and other half is not. It has batter contrast and all that)
Front facing off centered. You have to tilt your phone to get your face in the centered
Loose battery cover. Battery cover just moves like hell
Dead pixel on some of em
Dust under the glass
Squeaky button.(kinda annoying)
Light leaks
Yup htc have good phones but too much qc issue.

Perfect vibrant for me!
Lol i`ve been wanting to get a G2 For a while i got the Vibrant right now but its a big mess and...it feels cheap...if you dont want it you can always work out a deal with me =D
It feels cheap? Would you want a dent or a lowed price battery replacement. And some guys are making aluminum backcovers in the general section I think.
The phone doesn't feel cheap. The mentality of "heavy = well built" has got to go. Yeah, the phone's light and mostly plastic. Most vehicles on the road now are 75% plastic as well. The difference is cars go 100+ mph and endure harsh conditions, while my phone sits in my pocket, desk or hand. I'd say plastic is sufficient for a phone.
Neither mine nor my wifes vibrant creak, squeak, feel loose, or have any other physical or mechanical flaws. We've both dropped ours multiple times on the pavement, both survived with minor scuffs each time. From what I understand though, the g2 has a loose hinge issue, and the mytouch has squeaky buttons. My wife is completely content with her stock 2.2 vibrant. She is the average consumer. I'm not. Mine is modified, and much more responsive than the stock g2 I owned for a short time, droid x I had for a day, and evo I play with everyday. Gps on the latest bionix is working as intended.
I don't think the vibrant is better than any of them (g2 in particular), but it isn't worse. It's personal opinion, they're both fast. If you prefer the features of one, or how one feels over the other, that's the one that's better for you. I prefer the vibrant.
Sent from my <tw> powered vibrant.
right on @allthrottle i agree and i like the g2 now that i have a sense rom and i got a case for it so im not scared to have it around anymore and i got it cheap too, 10 bucks at tmo store, pretty weird accounting that tmo sells cases for like a lot like a gel skin case for the vibrant is like 20 i think. but yeah i got both phones and i like to play with the g2 more and i kind of use the vibrant as a music source i mean come on 16 gb is good for some music. the only thing i wish is that the g2 would of had a bigger screen i mean yeah i know that either you have the big display and no keyboard or the small display and a keyboard. honestly i dont use the keyboard as much on the g2. swype does its good on the phone and also i hate that the g2 isnt as bright as the vibrant. oh well i wonder if anyone else is like me with a vibrant and a g2...
My wife wanted my Vibrant. So, I read everything I could find about all the new phones. I ended up getting another Vibrant. With a custom ROM I have no complaints about my Vibrant.

EVO body design

I haven't seen a thread like this, nor have i even heard mention of this for that matter.
What do you think about the body design of the EVO? I'm talking about the exterior, so the shape, curvature and that sort of thing.
I like the screens design, how the glass is the entire front. No borders. I also like the overall color scheme, especially the cameras.
The only thing i really don't like is the curved back. It looks like the phone is being stretched, like its overly full.
I don't like how the camera lens was designed; whos bright idea was it to have it stick out anyways lol! I HATE how weak the volume and power buttons get from the wear and tear (rooting, flashing). I like just about everything else, best phone I've had hands down.
It takes 2 clicks now to lower or raise my volume lol......*facepalm*

^This... I'd would've rather the phone be thicker than have it protrude like that.
Also a camera button would've been nice. (I'm glad it's successor will have it)
Overall though, I love it's design. Initially I thought it was too large but now, anything less, seems too small.

I agree with your existentialist and egalitarian analysis
In all seriousness.. Is it perfect? No. Is it the most stunning mobile device to date? Yes
I like the overall design except the camera and the ear piece. It scratches my ear while talking on it.
I hate the design of the phone. I wish they would have taken a page out of the Nexus One's book when they made the EVO. I miss my Nexus One (don't miss T-Mobile though, lulz).
I am looking forward to the EVO3D, though I wish Sprint was getting the Sensation instead. I LOVE the way the Sensation looks.

The Sensation is the EVO3D minus the 3D. And it is more aesthetically pleasing (IMHO): http://www.htc.com/www/product/sensation/overview.html

Gimme a couple a days to come up with a new sig that is cool.

I'd prefer the Sensation because of the design/appearance. Easily give up the 3D for that. Short of the 3D, it's the same phone.
i love the design, but would have loved to have the curved front glass and gorilla glass...also the camera should have been recessed ...other than that perfect...
I wish it was more like the inspire or tbolt. After handling those, with their sexy aluminum bodies, the EVO seems platsticky and cheap. I also don't like the angle of the sides at all. I wish the sides were a uniform dimension. All of this is easily solved with a case anyways. Almost a must.

Of course it is....June 24th aka evo 3D. I doubt they'll get the sensation sprint is really banking on this 3D gimmick junk to stand out. Why would they get the same exact phone but without 3D?

I think the sensation has less bulk and more aesthetically pleasing. Im gonna get the 3d, but im not a big fan of the look of it, its kinda ugly.

is this phone too good?

I have been using my nexus 4 on at&t's network for a little over a month now and I cannot find one downfall of this phone... I applied a Dbrand black leather sticker on the back glass and that just made the phone feel more professional.. almost like a blackberry 9900. (but more functional) My question is, has anyone found a phone that can shake a stick at the nexus 4 as far as fit and function. I have a Htc One and i am thinking of returning it because I see myself using the nexus 4 and leaving the one at home more often then not.

I'm a fan of the N4 but you have to be realistic. There are plenty of phones now which can easily be considered better than it (e.g. HTC One, S4, LG OG Pro, Xperia Z) and while none of them are anywhere near as good a deal as the N4, most are better phones for the majority. Only a few people actually care about updates outside of XDA and don't really know how awesome stock Android is compared to other UIs.

Yes it's too good
I wasn't really impressed with the S4 or the HTC one tbh. Overpriced for basically the same specs you get with the N4. Samsung phones are loaded with bloat now,and feel like a hollow plastic toy. You can hardly tell its android anymore with the TW bloat interface. Yea the HTC one has a nice build quality, but is it really worth shelling out almost 700$ for? I don't think so. I will never buy another non nexus device again. (All personal opinion) I am extremely happy with my N4. I haven't had 1 single issue with it. I get 2.5 days of heavy use and about 5 hours screen on time with my ROM kernel combo. And for 350$ you cant beat it.
Keep the Nexus, return the One.

Now the rumors of the Note 3 being like 6 inches or so, now that's comical.
The current 5.5 is fine to me.

Yea don't get me wrong, it is a really nice phone. The screen is large and vibrant. The specs are great. I just think its too large, by the time you get a case on it, its even bigger. It would drive me nuts in my pocket.
