Loading Stock Rom - HD2 General

OK, so i am trying to load the stock rom back on my old HD2 to send back to t-mobile.
My phone has a broken flex cable going to the bottom buttons so i cannot hit the power button.
I downloaded the stock rom from t-mobile and have it both on sd card and on computer.
I can boot the phone to the point where it wants me to load the rom from SD card, i just cannot hit the power button to accept.
So i tried to do it from the computer. when i do, it just hangs at 8%.
Does anyone have any idea how I can put stock rom back on it?

Hold your volume down button down while you power,on your HD2. When you see the multicolor bootloader screen come up connect your USB cable to the HD2 and computer. Wait for the Serial in the white bar of bootloader to change to USB then run the RUU for the T-Mobile ROM. After you have flashed the ROM download HSPL 4 (linked in my sig) and run it but select SPL 3.03.0000 when it asks what version you want to flash. When you are done runningvthe HSPL utility boot into bootloader again to make sure you have SPL -3.03.0000. If you do and you should ypu are good for warranty.

Have you tried flashing via SD card? Here is a guide on how to do this.
Also I recomend you flash HSL first as it might help.

How do i flash HPSL first? I cant get the phone into sync with it?

You don't have to have to be synced through ActiveSync you use HTC USB sync. Click on my guide linked in my sig and follow the instructions there on how to flash HSPL you will see what I mean.

I reloaded HPSL 2.08 and then tried to install the stock firmware via usb and it still hangs at 8%. I wonder if i try to install a different version?
I cannot boot from SD since my bottom keys dont work. I cannot click the call button to accept.

Don't you understand? You don't need the stock ROM, once you have the stock SPL you -should- be fine. Go to the tri-Color screen and download HSPL4 on your PC and run it and choose 3.03.0000 (not HSPL) and click next and it should flash. If you've done that then you're ready to send it off for warranty. No need for stock ROM. Just change the HSPL to SPL again which TMagnolia and I just told you how to do.

Oh yeah and you can easily get to the tri-color by plugging the USB in and holding the Vol down button.

Awesome! Thank you, no I was not understanding...very new at this. Thank you!

Quick question to add... there is no rom on there at all now....do i need to install one for warrenty?

The green square still says "upgrade rom code error" please try again

They won't power the phone on to see if theres a ROM and if they do it'll boot to SPL in which case I'd say they'd flash a stock ROM. What green box?

I think they do not have a stock ROM on the HD2 and I was stupid and did not realize they probably already had HSPL on thier HD2. So they are not good to go for warranty just yet.
At the OP try right clicking on the RUU and select run as administrator. Also try different USB ports too that might help.

When you get the red green blue and white screen, the green section.
in the green section it says
Upgrade ROM code error
Please try again
If you just let the phone boot up, lit says "software update faild. please try again" on a black screen with triagle with a ! in it.

I would still try to get the stock ROM on the HD2 before sending it in cause I can assure you if they will turn the phome on and check the ROM and SPL. and if they have SPL 3.03.000 and not SPL 2.10.0000 they will say why iscthat cause it looks like they were tring to update the phone and sould not have SPL 3.03.0000. Then they will probably say they either did not preform the flash correctly or had un approved software on the phone and will not pass it as warranty.

Yes that is the RUU, right click it and select run as adminastrator, Skellyyy is right too you need to use the HSPL 4 Utility to reset your HSPL to SPL 3.03.0000 if you get the ROM to flash

Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong. I'm trying to flash a ROM but every time it goes to the HTC screen and stays at 0%. I've read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614 and i installed hspl. I got the "we hacked it" message so i assume i did it correctly. Is there something else im missing?
I noticed when I flashed from stock to dutty I did it through active sync and not through micro sd card method. Try flashing from a computer
I have been using a computer
reboot into bootloader (power button plus both volume keys) and check to make sure your spl says hspl after the number
what rom are you trying to flash
Reflash the SPL and make sure you select 2.08 HSPL, and not the 2.08.000 SPL because you already have it installed. As the other poster stated, confirm by going into the bootloader and seeing if 'HSPL' comes after the numeric info.

haha, I did the same thing when I got my HD2. The tutorial wasn't clear as to which SPL to choose and I chose the wrong one by accident .
No problem.
That seems to be the common little stumbling block for US HD2 first-time flashers.
Is that option there if you want to change it back to the original spl so you can flash an official ROM?
You don't have to flash it back to stock hspl to flash a stock rom but it is there so after you flash to stock you can relock that way if you have to get the device warrantied out there isn't anything there that would void the warranty.

[Q] Bricked?

So guys I need help! I can't boot my phone! I can boot in to HSPL but that's about it. I can't boot in to MAGLDR. I tried running a Task29 but it just stays at 0%.
I've tried flashing MAGLDR and it's the same as the Task29... stays at 0%. Has my phone been bricked? Any help appreciated. I've tried flashing a stock ROM from SD and renaming the .nbh to LEOIMG.nbh but the first time I did it and it says to press power to confirm you want to flash it the phone just rebooted to the WSOD. Seems as though that changed my HSPL to HSPL.2.08.0000 now too instead of .HSPL. now all I get when I have the SD card in and boot to HSPL then when it boots to the grey coloured screen it just says "Loading...".
Is there anyway I can get my phone working again? Thanks.
Try to flash WM 6.5 1.66 version (or atleast the one below the most recent) trough SD method.
My kid brother had the same thing, the newest ROM (from HTC website) didnt work cause it gave a error.
If you keep getting some red error status while doing the SD flash, it might be bricked.
After a few tries with the SD method we were able to flash stock spl and such, but still the phone wasnt oke (but oke enough to send it for repair).

Just so you know, when you start a stock rom sd card flash, the first thing it does is reset the spl, THEN it tries to flash the rom, two seperate events, (the phone even restarts in some instances between changing spl and starting the rom flash) so even if the flash fails, or doesnt even start, theres a good chance spl has already been removed.
(side note for info - This situation is most likely to happen when flashing stock from sd card when hspl is installed, because the rom doesnt get rejected at first because hspl is there, but after the spl is reset and teh phone reenters bootloader, it no longer accepts the rom, because hspl is gone, so the phone is temporarily locked up with no hspl and no working rom.)
So, you now have stock spl 2.08.0000 and a non working rom.
enter bootloader,
run hspl (new hspl4 link in my sig)
choose 2.08.hspl
re enter bootloader
flash magldr (just to be sure its there)
if you need to, make sure your radio is high enough version (if you have tmous forget this, if its a regular it needs to be in the 2.10.50 or so version or higher)
from power off, start the phone, as the very first splash screen changes to the black magldr screen, start pressing power, untill the menu items appear.
Job done.
Oh and the line "....I have the SD card in and boot to HSPL ......" makes no sense. You are booting to bootloader. its still bootloader whether it has spl or hspl. Your terminoligy will confuse you.
Well I highly doubt I did. Maybe it just updated the HSPL but that's all. Didn't even get rid of MAGLDR on my phone! When I held in the reset button, it booted straight to MAGLDR.
Maybe mine was just a fluke!
lol thats what i said, in a long winded way. when you run an sd card flash the first three or four seconds it loads the spl from the rom on the sd card, thus removing hspl.
(or in your incorrect words 'Maybe it just updated the HSPL but that's all' - correct, it 'updated' HSPL back to stock SPL)
but hey,its sorted, so no problem.
It's still HSPL though? It's just the previous version that's .0000 instead of .HSPL or am I completely off? Do I need to flash HSPL.2.08.HSPL again or can i just keep it .0000?
Lol I'm stupid. Sorry, realise now what you're saying now that I've looked at the SPL properly. So do you suggest I flash HSPL now?
Sent from my FutureShocks HD2 MIUI using XDA App
Lol,
One simple rule...
If it ends 0000 it is STOCK
If it ends .hspl it is hspl
Yes, run hspl.exe again, choose 2.08.hspl
Haha well atleast I've learned now. I don't even read the first part which just said SPL. Fail. If I flash HSPL again do I need to flash MAGLDR again?
Sent from my FutureShocks HD2 MIUI using XDA App
possibly, cos teh same sd card flash that wiped hspl could have also removed the second splash screen memory area, which is where magldr lives. deopends how far thru the flash it got before it stopped.
easy to tell tho, let it boot, if you see the black magldr screen appear when the first boot screen vanishes,, quickly press power and it will stop there and show the magldr menu, if it hangs without showing teh magldr screen, magldrs not there, and you pull the battery, into bootloader, flash magldr.

You will still need 2.08.hspl if you want to reinstall or update your magldr version at some stage. It wont work on 2.08.0000.

Sounds to me like you arent rpessing quick enough. keep holding power from the moment you power on if it helps.
the instructions are to hold power (end key) right from turning on until magldr menu appears, but for me, i watch the first splash screen, and just before it ends (6-7 seconds) only then do i press and hold the end key. do not let go of the end key until teh menu appears, else it will continue to boto the rom.
Oh so all you wanted to know is if I can boot to MAGLDR menu? Yeah, I can lol.
Wait a minute, you can't have MAGLDR unless you have HSPL (HSPL3 2.08) if you have just reflashed HSPL, That means you still don't have MAGLDR, unless you have flashed it already in which case you still don't have a working ROM (Android or Windows 7) until such time you chose an Android or Windows 7 build. confusing?
Here is the sequence of flash events.
1. HSPL3 - 2.08HSPL
2. MAGLDR 1.13
3. Flash your chosen ROM.

HD2 wont allow me to flash anything, was running Android NAND

HELP my HD2 wont let me flash anything to it
What happened was, the phone froze so i turned back on and it just loads a white screen and thats it.
i can get to the boot loader, but nothing will flash to it and it wont boot/install the the stock rom from SD CARD. a bunch of red numbers come up then it goes back to the boot loader.
is it dead?
Remove the battery for 3 minutes and replace...then press power button (red) without letting go until you get in to MGLDR screen.
hi, thank for the advice...gave it ago and nothing, just a white screen
when you hold down and get into bootloader, you're saying you can't flash the stock ROM via RUU?
what happens?
are you 100% sure it's the right stock rom?
I would flash task29 via RUU, then try a ROM again (doesn't have to be stock if HSPL is on there)
on the "red numbers" does it give an SPL version?
i tried a task29 and it just sits on 0%
SPL version is 2.08 HSPL 8G XE
nothing will go to it, when trying to flash via usb it goes into recovery mode on the pc (the RUU program)
when via SD card it goes to loading...
then 00068002 in red pops up then it goes back to the loader (Serial) at the bottom
im stumped
run HSPL4 and uninstall HSPL, then try stock ROM again via official ROM,
you can also try flashing SPL 3.03 via HSPL4, then trying a winmo ROM.

[Q] Help Upgrading My Rom

Can anyone help me please... I'm trying to upgrade the rom to the latest HTC HD2 rom for O2. I connect the phone via USB, sync it and then run the RUU program from HTCs website. The phone starts the process and boots the phone to the 4 colour screen and then to the black HTC progress screen and then it hangs on 0% for a few minutes until the utility finally tells me its lost connection with the phone (Error 262). I've done soft resets and hard resets. Disabled firewalls. Tried on another machine. Even ran the utility under XP SP3 compatibility. Still no joy. Can anyone help?? Thanks
Sounds like you might have a bad USB cable or that you are having timing out problems. First forget about the ActiveSync. All ActiveSynce does is help insure hour HD2 is ready to be flash by checking the battery level and such. Power your HD2 on but hold the volume down button down while powering on. When you see the tri color bootloader screen connect hour USB cable and wait for the Serial in the white bar of bootloader to change to USB and then right click the RUU of the ROM and select run as administrator. If this still does not work I would try another USB cable.

hmm....if you are trying to flash stock rom which is not intended for your device, you need HSPL or Gold card.
There are threads in Windows Mobile 6.5 section that will guide you on installing HSPL or making a Gold Card.

Well here's the thing, my phone is locked to O2. I'm trying to install the latest ROM from HTCs website for O2 customers. For the life of me I cant get it to install. I did install HSPL a few months ago when I tried to run Android from the SD card. That didnt work either. Like I say, I've done a hard reset. Could the HSPL thing be causing an issue. How do I get rid of it.

To get rid of HSPL you just have to run the HSPL Utility avain and choose the correct SPL version for your ROM when it asks what version you want to flash. Remember HSPL has the stock SPL versions to, click on the link in my sig to download HSPL 4. Hint thecstock SPL versions all have four zeros at fhe end and the HSPL version do not.
You said you are getting error 262, this usually means you don't have the right SPL or HSPL one of the two atleast that is if I remember correctly. What ROM are you trying to flash and what does it say in bootloader right now?

Hi... Been away so only just got this reply.
The rom I'm trying to install is a stock rom update from the HTC website:
O2 (UK): 3.14.206.1
For the record, my phone is an O2 phone.
As for Bootloader? It currently says:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.08.0000 8G XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(TOUCH) 0x40
Hope that helps. Really bugging the arse off me this is.
get hspl2,
put phone into bootloader manually first and connect usb lead
(thats why it was timing out on you ((error 262)) because the connection takes too long to reconnect when it reboots from winmo into bootloader, , if you do it yourself first, that solves this error 99% of the time.)
when 'serial' changes to 'usb' run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000 (i recommend this because 2.08.0000, whilst stock, is a tmous stock, so 'may' give problems, , totally unconfirmed, but i had issues recently removing android/magldr whilst spl was 2.08.0000, i switched to 1.66.0000 and it worked straight away, i have a slight hunch that spl 2 doesnt like to be downgraded in some circumstances, , if you preffer you could use hspl4 and go straight for 3.03.0000, since that is whjat your 3.14 rom will install anyway when you flash it)
when it reboots saying its done, immediately hold voldown to re-enter bootloader
when serial changes to usb, run your 3.14.exe

Erm, not sure how much more basic i can make it. (Ignore my descriptions, just follow the steps)
Power off, hold voldown, power on keeping voldown held,, see multi striped coloured screen, that's bootloader, you can flash from this screen.
First you should try without bothering to change the spl.
Enter bootloader and connect USB, run the 3.14 you downloaded. That's it.
If it doesn't work, try changing spl as in my previous post by entering bootloader, and instead of running the 3.14 you run hspl instead.
As for writing a guide, you already read the various "how to flash.." guides (there are several) and watched the (also several) YouTube guides before you even started this thread,,, didn't you? Didn't you?? If not then shame on you!
Post back and ill check tomorrow.

different region ROM ?
Can you try to installing region specific ROM instead of Asia/India version. I faced similar problem last week as I bought phone in Europe (WWE version) but I was trying to update using Asia/India version.
Also, have you ever used HSPL on your phone?
Boot the device into boot loader and connect it to your computer via USB and flash HSPL 3.03 to it. Then run the RUU again.

As powerthink posted above me, right click on the RUU and run it as administrator. Also just keep trying it for a while and maybe it will finish the flash. If it just will not finish the flash and keeps giving you errors. Then you can try flashing from SD card, and if that does not work you can try a earlier ROM version.

Please tell me you do not have a TMOUS HD2? If you do I am very sorry but you hard bricked your HD2. Do you see the 51 I highlighted in the radio version of the RUU you posted? You can not flash a radio with a 51 in it to a TMOUS or you will brick the device. I really wished you would have posted that before you flashed or at least clicked on my guide linked in my sig as I descuss this at the very top of my guide. I am truly sorry friend. The only thing you can do now is have the device JTAGed to fix it. If you want I can give you the contact info on someone that does this for around 40 USD plus shipping and handling.
Does your battery have charge? Did you charge it enough?
Try to use "Reset" button instead of "power" button and "Volume" button together.

Sorry powerthink, I hate it as much as anybody else. But it sounds like sattar_00977 has a TMOUS because no bootloader after a complete flash and the ROM had radio version 2.0 7.51.22_2 in it sounds like a bricked TMOUS to me.

Well first off I am glad you got your device back up and going, but I am curious how you did this, I mean when you JTAG a HD2 it puts HSPL 2.08 on it. Then you can load a ROM to the device. But you say you have SPL-2.10.0000. Did you already flash something to the device after JTAG?
Either way please do not flash a ROM with a radio version that has 51 in it like the last ROM you flashed. Also do not flash a radio version that is below 2.08.50.?? because evfen though they have a 50 in them. The radio versions below 2.08.50.?? or actually 51 radios because they were used in the TMOUS test toms.
Flash the 3.14.1 ROM from this thread, but do not ever flash the 2.01 through 2.09 ROMs from that thread. Also only flash Windows Mobile ROMs from this section of the Windows Mobile development forum.
Did you try last ROM (3.14.1) at following link?

i am afraid your phone was bricked. but still, I have a little hope
If you still have time and have patience;
Change your HSPL to 2.08.HSPL,
Choose one of them;
1. install this Android ROM which i give you now. It is not only EU version but also TMOUS version. You can use it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733649
2. You can use this ROM. it is Windows 6.5 ROM for TMOUS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654504
NOTE : And you have to apply which one you prefer to use, please read this.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27266966&postcount=4

-insert it into your HTC device.
-(on the 3-color screen)Check your HSPL 2.08.HSPL.(not 2.08.0000)
-(on the 3-color screen)do task29.

-For repartition (Cwm Recovery) on left side of HD2 Toolkit, choose 400MB=System Partition and Cache Size=45MB (because your phone TMOUS) and Flash it(with "repartition" button).
-After reboot, on the magldr choose "AD Recovery" and it will go into Recovery mod.
-Then select 'install zip from sd card' in the menu,
-Go down to 'choose zip from sdcard' and select your Energy..zip file and follow steps on your device screen.
-When it ask you which model do you have like TMOUS or EU, please choose TMOUS. (as I remember, "Yes-TMOUS, No-EU", you will see 2 option.
-and wait appr. 5 to 10 minutes.
-if you don't have any problem in your machine, it will install it and when it's complete you will choose "reboot your device"
