I do the OMFGB and OMGB roms. We currently support the Evo, Inc, and Eris. Nobody on the team has an Evo though, so things are getting pretty difficult. Im considering dropping support for the Evo because working on these invisible bugs is holding up development for the other phones.
If you have experience with AOSP, and i dont mean just building CM, I mean really working with it, and have an Evo, hit me up. We are in desperate need of an Evo dev.
Dev it up Kiesha

I just noticed that the cyanogenmod website says they will be supporting/developing roms for the evo! can't wait to have another great team of dev's working on this phone! seems like the evo has attracted all the best developers around. can anyone tell me more about his typical roms and what to expect??
Coming from the G1 and then the mytouch 3G I am excited! He does very solid work all the way around.
I have an Epic and and Evo. I must say it feels as if the dev support for the Epic is not as strong as it was for the Evo. I know the Epic was just released, but I was wondering if there was a different underlying issue why the Epic is slower on the uptake with the Dev community.
It makes me realize how much We/ I rely on the Devs to make great phones even better. To add to that, phone manufactures should be supportive and grateful when the phone the produce garnishes attention from the amazing Developer community.
No way to flash roms yet, thats why, once we get a recovery it will pick up.

Just wanting to know how many devs we have for the Evo Shift. Coming from an Evo there were tons of devs and new roms just about everyday. The shift deving seems a little slow compared to the Evo (of course I understand its only been a little while on this device) and I am certainly not complaing or shooting the Shift down this is more of a curiosity thing then anything. Anyways just asking and I honestly appreciate everything that we do have already. Keep up the fun of hacking and creating because my big ass sure is hell ain't no damn dev. What is ADB stand for and what the hell is shrooting your phone mean, LOL
Sent from my Evolution
We have a good bit of developers for the shift.
Developing is going slightly slow for now because most of them are waiting on an asop kernel to be complete(Which is getting fixed at a fast rate thanks to toastcfh).
I think after that, developing will take off. We already have miui/cm6/cm7/evervolv/awesome/desire hd port roms.
I didn't list them all, just all of the ones I can think of off of the top of my head.
Dev'ing also seems to be slow due to getting ClockworkMod Recovery working fully & properly on the Evo Shift.

Cory,
Also coming from the EVO side, let me correct some of what you said. There were NOT tons of devs and roms, there were about a dozen REAL developers and REAL roms and tons of folks that "called" themselves developers ran through the kitchen and basically provided THEMED roms with no real original development work.
Currently on an EVO 4g trying to decide if I want the Evo 3d, Moto Photon, NS4G, or stay on my Evo 4g and wait to see if the next Nexus comes in the upcoming months to Sprint.
My question to the members here, what is the NS4G community base like? Man NS4g users and devs out there? My hesitation is that the phone may have been passed up by many for the upcoming "super phones" resulting in less of a community = less community dev work for the device.
Thank you
For the nexus s 4 g we got miui and cm7. There are also some cm7/aosp based roms as well. We also got Trinity kernel and also netarchy. Honestly we got all the big names it just may seem like we have a little amount of roms. As for if you should get it, it's all up to you. I for one will only use a nexus product, I'm too attached to aosp to go use sense or touchwiz. But I heard the sgs2 might be coming out soon, that device is wow.

Seems like there is a great community here. If you coming from a EVO 4g you might want to stick with another phone like EVO 3D. The Nexus S 4G comes very bland. However you can customize it very easy. You have to be better than a advanced user to stick the NEXUS S 4G. As far as something like touchwiz, there is a mod.. Touchwiz needs alot of work to be done to have it completely ported over. People in this community seem more concerned with other things and have a bad taste for something like touchwiz.

Thank you for the replies, they have helped but still not sure which way I am going to go.
Been looking at the benchmarks and see they are fairly even, some say the adreno is better, others say the 540 is better.
I had horrible luck with CM7 on my original Evo, while other AOSP roms ran like a dream. Leads me to wonder how AOSP will be on the 3d. But with Ice cream comes dual core support and I would assume the 3d at that point would pull ahead of the NS4g in performance, making it more future proof for me over the next 2 years.
Anyways, thank you for the responses.
Is the miui bugfree for the nexus s 4g yet? Ive still yet to root my phone lol, been waiting on miui to be stable...

MIUI, Salvage Mod, Ultimate Droid, and VaelPak AOSP preview were the most stable AOSP roms I ran on my Evo.
Now, each have their own issues, but they were stable and responsive. One thing that seems to be a mess across all of them is a less than stellar wifi signal compared to when running Sense, yet another thing that makes me worried about going with eh 3d, it's horribly annoying on the Evo 4g.
How "future proof" would you say the NS4G is? Will hardware acceleration keep the phone capable for another 2 years yet? I also want to check out the 3d screen in sunlight, huge geocacher and the Evo was terrible in sunlight.

Can't speak for the Evo 3D but the NS4G is nothing short of fantastic in sunlight... YMMV though.
The NS4G will have more developer support most likely, performance isn't going to leave you hanging, however the Evo3D does win the specs war.
Future proof in what way? The hardware is going to be capable for years to come I imagine... software wise a Nexus phone is the definition of future proof. You will be getting updates directly from Google, likely for a very long time to come.
The Evo3D has more bells and whistles, while the NS is more of a enthusiasts phone for those that want pure Android, the latest updates, a large development scene, etc. Gotta pick your poison from there.
And honastly there alot orf "CUSTOM" sense roms for the evo that have the alot of the same tweaks with just different themes already mixed in. But to not to discredit anyone i cant make hide or hair of software

I have tried to flash many roms, keep them, and love them. But there is just no ROM that I think does the EVO right like Synergy. Almost a year since its release, too! I remember flashing every one of it's nightly builds.
The EVO's life span is at its end. I feel like because of this well collaborated project, I really have enjoyed and got the most function out of my EVO.
Is anyone else just a die hard fan of this rom?
Thank you DEVs:
DJzager
incubus26JC
Joelz9614
myn
Rafyvitto
siulmagic
WoZZer
Virus
for your amazing ROM.
P.S. EVO 4G LTE, here I come.
i was on rls1 up until a couple of weeks ago, loved it. i'm running express for my daily now, playing with shooter and kornerz. all are working good and i like them all.
the evo still has a good bit of life left.. the devs keep bringing new features to the table. i'll be using it till sprint gets something i like, my contract goes for another 3 months..

I was a die hard fan at one time and still consider that ROM sort of a high water mark for Sense ROMs for the Evo. (As opposed to quick and dirty ports from other phones, this one showed some real skill and care on the part of the developers.) It piggybacked on the great community of fans that had grown around myn's previous ROMs, so the abundance of themes and mods was a real selling point as well.
But there's no denying it was based on an older stock ROM and older kernel, had CIQ baked in, offered a confusing experimental GodMode option (that turned out to be a developmental dead end and was incompatible with any mods or kernels not explicitly designed for it), and is no longer being updated with key performance enhancements that Sprint, HTC, and the wider XDA community have discovered or developed for almost a year now.
MikG is the logical successor to Synergy. Not that there aren't even newer and more exciting ROMs out there, but MikG really is the closest thing we have to Synergy that is actively maintained.

Gotta go with mikG also. Even while synergy was still being developed I preferred mikg, miks roms are always great.
i was definitely hyped up for the release, but could never become a die hard fan. tried, and it was very good, just couldn't love it. I've been on Tommy Tomatoes since it was released and find it significantly more stable and useful. I believe Tommy is a Myn disciple, so you would be as happy there
I will admit that I never ran the Synergy Roms but I've flashed a lot of Roms since rooting my phone in Sept of 2011 and Tommy is doing incredible stuff.
His Roms are great! Super stable with a ton of tweaks. Supermagic is probably going to blow everyone's mind!
Just my opinion of course. Although all of the Developers keep the Evo 4G interesting. The amount of roms that are ported over to the Evo are unreal. Lots of variety.
I might give supermagic a try.... Been on mikg forever because I always come back

I tried synergy mikgg3.11 and supermagoc classic evolution. I keep going back to swagged out stock n with lionfish
what a great rom it is, it was my first custom rom that i used and ended up using it for a few months and consider going back to it regularly when i get fed up with dealing with ics roms that are not stable enough for me to use on a daily basis and i kinda miss having htc sense now that im almost addicted to cm builds
Synergy was my first custom. But too many bugs for me. I did move on to Energy, but once ICS has been ported, there's no looking back.
CM9 all the way.
