my phone hang with wite htc logo.i tride to hard reset,i faild.i could not put the device in boot loader mode.please help me. thank you
additional details please?
like what did you do before it starts to hang at boot screan, what hacks do you have installed e.e. magldr, hspl, sspl ??
those would really help
by the way you sure you cannot boot into bootloader the tri-colour screen?
To put the device into bootloader mode,
hold the volume down button and press the reset button, or else, switch off the phone (by removing battery), hold the volume down button while you switch it on. This must take you to the tricolor bootloader.
The stuck might have caused due to improper flash or something which doesn't match, a bad radio or so.
Its important for you to get into the bootloader, to flash either from Sync or SD Card.
All the best.

So, you said you cant go into bootloader mode.
How about retry it but following this way.
-Remove your battery and wait for minutes (maybe 10 minutes)
-Reinsert the battery. Dont turn it on.
-Charge your phone and check whether the phone is charging (you should check the led indicator. if it is full, the color should be green).
-After that, press volume down button and power on button at the same time (dont miss it).
-If you still cant go into bootloader mode, I would suggest you to bring it to Repair center.
Goodluck
I see, its not going into the bootloader, so can the problem be with the volume buttons? Are you sure they are functional?
Is your phone turning on, getting to the HTC logo and then turning off again by itself? This was happening to me just tonight. Just try putting the battery in the freezer for 20 minutes or so. That did the trick for me.
hello
thanks guys,i tried every thingas you said.no use.so i took the device to service center.they told me that, the only thing is to recover the phone is replacing the mother board.it is costing nearly 200 usd.

Which one was it a bad connection with your processor from overheating or machanical shock, or was it a bad NAND chip? These are the two things I was thinking as I have been following this thread.

i think it is because bad nand chip.
Was the phone functional before? What OS you had?
I've seen this on about 3-4 of the over 75 HD2's I've JTAG'ed. It's a faulty NAND chip that overheats causing this problem. Unfortunately, there is no logical fix for this.

My Nexus one won't turn on. I tried flashing RADIO 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2 that I downloaded from Modaco.
After it failed to install showing the error message like
"Multiple Radio images"
and a few others I try to reboot it.
when trying to reboot it there showed a picture of a android and a orangish arrow and a box.
Help...I think I bricked it.
Help?
Please?
Can you get into boot loader? Hold down the track ball, then power on, and keep holding down the track ball...
Also, try holding down the "volume down" toggle button while powering on if the track ball method doesn't work...
If both don't do anything but take you to that same screen, let it sit on that screen for a bit, say 10 minutes just in case...
If still nothing, see what happens when you plug your phone into your computer with the data cable, is it recognized? If so, can you get ADB to recognize it?

can u get to the recovery image? if u can, its not bricked.
well I tried plugging it into the computer, I tried the wall charger, and nothing seems to work. The LED doesn't come on, and the button combination doesn't work. So I think it's dead for good. :C Before everything got screwed All I saw was a box and an arrow pointing at a android. Which I think meant it was unboxing. I then thought it froze so I tried to take the battery out, and after that it didn't turn on anymore. No LED, no recovery, no nothing. :C Quite sad.
Why the f are so many people intent on taking their batteries out while the phone is updating? I'm not saying that led to the bricking...but it probably didn't help.

This part takes a few minutes. I am not totally sure what is happening at this point but I'm assuming it's not good to remove battery during this. Mine sat on that screen for a few min and then finished.
Try to boot up with volume down button held. Then use volume arrows to choose recovery and hit power.

Everyone expects everything to be instant these days... "Uh oh! The screen isn't doing anything, it's been at least 20 seconds! I could just wait and leave it for a few minutes like all the guides say to do. Or I could take my battery out...how could that hurt, right?"
For me it took a good 3-4 minutes on the screen with the arrow and the box.
Anyways, if you can't get to the recovery then you might be buying a new N1.
ahh it took like 5 minutes for me, I have to admit I was a little worried since you dont see status bars or anything, but like said, the guides warn for this.
I cant imagine that removing the battery broke it though, he should be able to load a recovery image
I feel sad for him so bumping
Bleh. I'll just have to wait and see. I'll contact HTC.

If you remove the battery during the period he did, which is when the phone is actually flashing the radio ROM, yes removing the battery can and likely did break it for him. There are 2 ways to brick an Android device, while flashing a radio ROM and while flashing an SPL...
OP, have you tried any of the button combos we have recommended? Have you tried putting your battery in the phone, then without turning it on, putting it on the charger to see if it can charge the battery at least (you said it wasn't even turning on, which is likely because you have a dead battery)... charge the battery first, then try the button combo's we recommended.
And please, when you report back, and not to sound like an ass, do so clearly and systematically (I can't tell from your posts what did or didn't happen, and whether you tried anything we suggested, nor what the current state of the phone is)... so, please use this format to make it clear to us trying to help:
Battery: Charged or Wouldn't Charge (LED will come on if it is charging)
Trackball+Power: Booted into boot loader, yay! or Went to the damn box
Volume down+Power: Booted into fast boot! or Went to the damn box
And remember, you have to hold down the button, either trackball or volume down, then press the power and keep holding down the trackball or volume down until it either goes to boot loader or it goes to the box screen... you might want to even wait for a minute on the box screen(if it goes to that) while holding down the button to make sure it can't get into boot loader...
Okay so I took the battery out, put it back in, and tried charging it. The Battery LED did not come on, so I'm guessing it's not charging.
The Trackball+Power did not work.
The Volume down+Power did not work.
I think I most likely broke it, due to the fact that I took the battery out while it was flashing the radio ROM onto the phone. I kinda did it on a impulse, which is my fault. So do you think it'd be possible if I did contact HTC they'd send me a swap, and not be able to make my phone work or turn on, and everything will go on as if I "broke" it and not unlock it or anything?

It sounds like you have a true brick... disruption of the radio ROM flashing causes lots of bricks, and did so for you.
It is pretty common, at least with T-Mobile with the G1, to call them up and tell them your phone asked you to update, and while updating it froze and won't turn on or charge anymore. Not sure if HTC will handle it the same as T-Mobile did, but if they do they will just send you a new unit, you send the old one back, and you are back up and running... they might ask that you send it to them first, but there is no way for them to test if it was rooted/unlock boot loader if it can't be powered on, so you should be fine.
Sweet. So I called HTC, and they said they'll repair it, but I asked for a swap instead, so I'll be getting one by either Wednesday, or Thursday. Good stuff! I'll tell you all how it goes. :] Now I am stuck with my Nokia N95. Thanks for all your help.

Yeah, he doesn't have to tell them... but they don't have to cover his phone either.
If they find out it's unlocked after the fact, they can charge you to repair the phone.
How exactly will they know he unlocked the bootloader if the device cannot even properly turn on, unless htc has other methods of being able to "restore" the phone, then he should be rather ok. Am I not looking into this deeply enough? Can the phone turn on with a new battery or something? Does HTC have alternatives ways of checking?

That's my point man.. I don't know. All they have to see is that open padlock and they can deny the claim.
Hi all, I've a big problem with my HD2. It was working fine for two months, but last week, with the battery very low (2 %) started the problems. I've tried to do almost anything, Hard Reset, install official Roms, custom Roms, (always with MTTY) and still the same.
In short, these are the symptoms:
1 .- Right Button (Power Button) does not work.
2 .- The Action Screen (thas should start by Long pressing the Power button), always starts at the boot.
3 .- I can't switch off the HD2. I can only do it by removing the battery completely, and as soon as I put it in the device, always restarts by itself.
I think it must be something regarding the BIOS (and is not deleted when reflashing the ROM) what is causing this behavior. I don't know if through the registry could be fixed this but it is my hope.
I hope anyone can help me. Thank you very much
Reflash, but, use Task29 or MTTY first. That will complete format your device, so you will get a completely fresh/clean flash.
Im positive that all of this is caused by a stuck power button. Its just pressed all the time, and therefore it cannot be pressed. Hope this helps.
yea I agree it sounds like a faulty button, or maybe circuitry beneath the buttons.

Thanks for the answers. Probably I should go to the SAT.
i am having a problem with the update procedure on my trophy
its on the 7392 update and at the last step 9/10 where it says rebooting your phone it has stuck there for over a half an hour.
The phone shows the htc logo (white background)
What should i do? Should i cancel the update?
thx
after one hour waiting on the rebooting point i decided to press cancel on the update
Now the phone doesnt start
What can i do ?
I have to contact htc or is a way to recover it?
Take the battery out, put it back in, then hold the volume down and power buttons. See if the recovery screen shows up (Blue, Red, Green stripes).
If so, find a RUU restore file for your network on the development subforum. Ask for help here if you're stuck.
the problem is that the phone doesnt start. Its dead. Maybe it wass a hardware prob because from the beggining when i got it the scrolling wasnt as smooth as the other trophys i have.
Is there a prog like phoenix on nokia for htc?
It sounds to me the same problem I had, I did an update but saw the phone restart and frozen on the HTC logo for over 30 minutes. I had no choice but to power the phone off.
I've tried various ways to turn the phone on (factory hardware reset), holding the camera lens and power button etc. Nothing. Is it dead? What can we do? Did you manage to power on your device Djole77?
That sounds pretty bad for you guys. If you can't get the phone into recovery mode, even after removing the battery, they may be dead.
I is possible to JTAG the HTC trophy with some soldering, which would let you recover the phone in most circumstances. However it requires voiding your warranty, opening the phone and soldering. Best leave it.
The first thing to do is take it to your carrier for warranty repairs. The mango update voids your warranty (because the carriers don't / can't support Mango yet) but if the whole phone is bricked then it shouldn't make a difference. Take it to them and don't mention the mango upgrade.
If that doesn't work, try HTC.
If that doesnt' work, and you're on Microsoft's developer network, they offer a substitutionary warranty for developers installing mango.

unfortunately no i will send to the service and wait what they will tell me
From the beginning something was wrong with this phone the scrolling wasn't smooth like the other trophys I have
maybe there was a hardware problem and the update finished it
I have the same problem Do you have any news?
Thanx
So, I cannot seem to get into bootloader on an HD2. This isn't my phone and I did not perform the original flash, so I'm not quite as familiar with the HD2 toolchain.
The problem is simple, I cannot load into the tri color bootloader. I haven't ever been able to, so I don't have anything to trace to what apparently removed it.
I still can however use MAGLDR to boot android from NAND and flash android roms etc.
The trouble is this phone needs to be shipped to HTC for repair and I need to restore to stock, but I cannot reach boot loader to use any tools or flash any stock roms etc. I saw something on the JTAG restore product but I thought wasn't ideal if still under warranty.
Pretty desperate here since the warranty period ends real soon. thanks for any help!
Just to make sure....In order to reach the boot loader screen, you need to turn off the phone and then hold the volume down button and power button until the boot loader screen pops up. Just making sure you did this!
yeah, been trying that to no avail
Can still get to MAGDLR real easy though.
thanks

Out of curiosity, are any of your buttons not working?
most are working just fine. Only weird this is the red hang up\power button brings up the shut down menu on a single press from time to time once inside android. I believe it to be caused the original issue (random boot lock ups that take anywhere from 2 min to boot android or 25 min, or doesn't at all before battery dies) but this phone has been so flaky its been impossible at times to reproduce results.

HI,
My reply was not relevant.
Sorry I could not help.
If I am reading right this sounds like a similar issue which I had. I went from my car which had really cold A/C and then went to my room which was really hot. There was condensation on the phone and did not think much of it. My buttons started either acting strange or not working. First I tried putting the phone in some rice as rice tends to attract water molecules. This did not work. I then sprayed windex with the phone off and batter, sdcard, simcard out and then wiped down the phone put it in the rice for about an hour or 2. After I did this a few times my buttons started working normal again. No more safe mode and all my buttons work.
Either that or your volume down button is just not working. In which case I don't believe there is any other way to enter the bootloader. If you can connect through microsoft activesync you may be able to restore the original windows 6.5 that way.
Only thing is the vol down button works fine once boot in android. Power button is only weird one and its only acting up depending on the moon phase apparently.

Ok so I was searching for some links on using active sync to flash but any guide I find also is using HSPL to do the flash which is not apparently present on the device. Would you happen to have any links on performing a flash via active sync that doesn't involve any sort of SPL?
Thanks a bunch
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
HSPL is what is used to flash any rom that is not an original from tmobile. SPL is the original that would have come onto the phone and locks the phone from installing any roms except tmobile. With the hspl program you need to be able to boot into boot loader. I have tried windows mobile device center which is what is used in windows 7 instead of active sync but it does not connect. I am afraid that you are stuck unless you can get into boot loader somehow. The only way I know is to hold the volume down button as soon as you power the phone on.

I'm sending mine back to HTC
FINALLY!
All I did was...wait. I took the battery out for a couple hours, and tried again and bam it came up! I tried for like two days before this. I then followed the standard LEOIMG.nbh to the sd card and it restored win mobile and SPL just fine.
I guess it sounds crazy but just take the battery out for a while or overnight perhaps. I really didn't do anything so that's all I have to offer.
I think this HD2 has an overheating issue or something because it starts to act up once on after a while (power button...boot problems as described above).

thanks for the help .

Hi.
i seem to have checked everything when it comes to getting it to power on.
but it won't.
1. checked battery pins,
2. tried freezing.
3. tried reseting,
4. hard resetting.
5. charged the battery from an outside source. nothing wrong with battery.
the phone detects in windows, even when it is powered off.
it says so with the MY HTC drivers,
is there anything i can do with the phone with the phone not powering on, but IS detected in windows.
in other words, what i need is some sort of OFFLINE FLASHER. something that'll flash the phone without turning it on.
hope ya'll can help. there's obviously something i'm missing. you know how it is, sometimes you just miss something and it's right there in front of you........ where did i put my car keys?
thanks.
