Well I hope it is. I'm on miui right now so I can't really check. But being on it right now, there haven't been any checkerboard problems so far and I've been surfing the web for about an hour.
What is the differences between the two? Is the MIUI browser the EB13 browser, but optimized somehow? The EB13 browser is amazingly fast and awesome except for the checkerboarding, so I would love to know that nothing else is changed other than the checkerboarding issue being fixed.
Dolphin HD
I've been using Dolphin HD Browser, but I like the stock one better[because it feels faster in my opinion]--except for the checker-boarding.
Try Dolphin HD browser. I don't use the stock one any more after using Dolphin.
Being able to set the user client mode is great for a lot sites that always try to push you to mobile versions.
Isn't the MIUI browser dependent on the MIUI framework?
Is the browser on CM7 as good as the simply honey 3.5 one and or Asgard? Because the browser on those to are iphone smooth browsers and i can watch 720p vids on them.... And other browsers are not an option, i like the stock android one.
i haven't used those, but i like the cm7 browser. it has porn mode. = P

lol haha does it scroll thru it smoothly
I been with CM7 since the first nightly. Having come off of an iPhone to the vibrant with this rom browser wise I would have to say it runs better that hat of iPhone anyday of the week.
It's good, but not as good as 2.1 or 2.2.1
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
why is it notetter than 2.1 or 2.2.1?
and does the browser of cm7 scroll thru the web pages as smooth sasgard and simply honey?
2.1 and 2.2.1 is have the best stock browser in my experience.
It's good enough for playing flash videos though.

first i apologize for my bad eng
I've see several video with gs2 vs dual and vs sensation and gs2 is the fastest in rendering of websites (no lag with video playing and heavy flash). I've read that this depend by hw acceleration.
Now all test i've seen are made with stock browser... with opera and dolphin is keep the hw acceleration or is only with stock browser?
Otherwise i can think that with opera/dolph gs2 dual and sensation are very similar during navigation.
I tested opera, stock and xscope in the peacekeeper benchmark, although stock was the fastest the differences were only very minimal, the results in themselves were pretty impressive
Which do you recommend my dearest friend.

Stock browser is way better than any other browser there. You can test by yourself. I have tried, Mozilla, Opera, Dolphin HD, out of them I liked Dolphin HD only, it's a good browser, still not a match to Stock but still not bad. Mozilla and Opera are pathetic IMO.
Regards.
If you want full text reflow like you get on other phones then Opera Mobile offers this, not just double tap reflow but when you pinch zoom in out it will reflow the text to fit the screen the default browser does not offer this.

xscope, not only is it very smooth but it also renders text at small sizes better than other browser making it easier to read (this way you can zoom out of most pages and still read everything)
btw the speed differences are negligible, they all score around 950 in peacekeeper with a difference of 6 points (ie 0.5%) at worst
I think you should test xscope, miren, dolphin hd and mine, opera and stock because these are all good but in different ways, see which one suits you
stock browser should have hardware acceleration and it is really smooth and fast with scrolling and multitouch...it is the best that i ever used
the main problem of opera is the remote rendering, you have to remember to not send any login details

only opera mini does this, opera mobile doesnt, and I sort of trust opera
I vote for opera mobile too .. stock does not have reflow on pinch.

Yeah on sgs you could pinch to zoom then double click to make the text reflow. On sgs2 it zooms out.....
yes..opera mobile is a good browser but it isn't at samsung stock level
That lack of reflow was quite annoying. I'm also using Opera Mobile. I like its Chrome like start screen.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
I never had a problem with text reflow in the stock browser.... but the fact it gave checkerboard patterns all the time when scrolling made me try other browsers.
I've tried Miren, Opera and Dolphin HD. Personally, I find them all about equally as good, but in different ways. I like the interface of the latest Dolphin HD the best but Miren seems a smidge faster, and Opera faster still.

I think chrome's start screen is Opera like (seriously opera looked like that, with the speeddials, years before chrome was released)

Opera Mobile.
Had Miren for a while, also Stock, tested Dolphin HD.
Opera mobile brings its own presto engine, not using web kit like stock and Dolphin.
This results in best rendering and by far better HTML5 compliance (best of all mobile browsers on all platforms).
Speed is great with ~60'000 in browsermark, slightly more than stock and Dolphin.
Different flash contents on one page can be activated separately.
I like opera link a lot as well.
With opera:config countless settings are available, including user agent.
MHO

whats the difference between "ICS Browser +" and default ICS internet browser?
I am running ics (rocketrom 1.5) and I noticed that there are two browsers on ics.
whats the difference between these two? one is called ICS Browser +. and the other is called "internet".
nothing, but sometimes the ICS+ gets hung up, but the "internet browser" is stable
i think its slightly modded by samsung, this new edition was added by Rocket team i think it wasnt there in the leaks
Isnt it stock GB browser. While the other is ICS browser?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
thanks for the replies i just stick to the non+ one.
ICS browser + is a third party browser, like, for instance, dolphin browser is.
Any ways to force these browsers to open PC browser pages?
(e.g. instead of m.facebook, go double-u double-u double-u.facebook)

No way to force Desktop mode in Chrome Beta
ICS Browser+ Is built off the STOCK ICS BROWSER with a few extra additions.
Internet is the SAMSUNG browser.
ICS+ browser is so much better. It is the stock ICS browser, using the sam code, with additional enhancements such as the labs wheel quick controls. I simply cant live without ics+ browser!
for me the MAJOR difference is the user agent. In ics + you get to choose your user agent .

Can ICS browser go full screen including using the screen area the status bar (time, battery, signal etc) was taking?
I find ics browser+ much much more smoother. Yes can be made full screen with no status bar showing

I don't know what the excuse is for the state of chrome for android. The beta and the new stable version have absolutely atrocious font rendering and are extremely laggy. I already though chrome for android was a mess and that the stock browser should never have been removed as the default for new devices but this is just ridiculous. I seriously think whoever is the project leader for chrome for android needs to be dismissed. It is seriously an embarassment to the platform and has ruined the stock performance of the nexus 7, 4, and 10. All three devices are butter smooth on a pure aosp rom or cm10 in the aosp browser. They are a chopfest with the stock chrome. I honestly think the only way to fix chrome now is to just rebase it on the stock aosp browser and rename it chrome.
They don't understand that we're not all masochists.
Install a third party browser.
No problems with Chrome on my 7 or my Galaxy Nexus. I use it as my main browser on both.
Does this thread serve a purpose other than whining about something that takes 30 seconds to change if you don't like it?
I have the aosp browser installed (running aokp 4.2.2) but many people especially the general public will only use chrome because its the default. As it stands right now its a complete mess. If you don't think it is install the aosp browser and then try to say chrome is better.
I agree with the OP, Chrome is a disgrace for android. It's very laggy, slow and the fonts displayed on web pages looks horrible.
I have the stock Rom with aosp browser, chrome is a crap, slower than any other browser, really laggy, really slow rendering, the only good thing is the integration with the Google services, I really like Google and love android, but, I'm not a zombie, if something works bad, I don't going to say is good only because I like who made it.
Only reason I use Chrome is because of syncing. Syncing in stock AOSP browser doesn't work in 4.2.2. I wish they'd hurry up and release ChromeSync for 4.2.2.
I like chrome :c The text is super clear if you ask me

Have you guys tried chrome beta? There's two versions of chrome.. Chrome beta is new and actively being developed on. I get updates once a week just about.

The OP is right. I have both the older version of chrome and chrome beta installed on my Nexus 7. I'm rooted but otherwise everything is stock. The fonts are slightly fuzzier in the beta version.
And much more annoying sometimes text is randomly sized way too small no matter what zoom I have set in the accessibility settings. This happens a lot on the xda forums in fact. I can literally switch between chrome (ver18) and the beta on the same page and thing look perfect in the old stable version but in the beta some post responses are tiny while others are normal.
My fear is that this bug along with the fuzzy fonts is now part of the stable chrome update. I was just beginning to like chrome again
And honestly I bet chrome is the number one reason why noobs buying a nexus 7 have a poor experience. Which is a shame because this is an amazing device.
You know what? Screw Chrome. It has always been buggy and slow and probably will be for a while. The most underrated but best browser there is hands down is x scope. I don't understand why it isn't more popular. I have tried all the browsers and it is by far the best. The quick toggles and ability to swipe the screen to go back and forth are extremely intuitive.

It performs better on my Nexus S than my Nexus 7. It's an interesting situation to say the least

Slightly of topic but if I backup chrome with titanium backup will I be able to restore the old version of chrome if I don't like the update? I'm just wondering since you can't uninstall chrome (through the normal ui) the way you can other apps from the play store.
The most annoying problem for me is that it renders text differently in portrait and landscape modes. XDA for example becomes absolutely unreadable in portrait. And zooming without auto-reflow is also a pain in the ass.
The worst thing? They don't use their public bug tracker and don't react to any bug reports in any way.

Or just install chromebookmarksyncadapter.apk in system apps. I'm currently using stock rooted deodexed ROMs on both my 7 and galaxy nexus with aosp browser.
On topic, I have no problems with chrome on my nexus 7, it runs well and smoothly, I simply use the aosp browser because I prefer the layout, flash support, and quick controls.
Edit: for anyone wanting aforementioned apk. Simply place https://www.box.com/thisguy in system apps, reboot, check sync options and you should now have option to sync browser.

Actually Google realised something was wrong with Chrome main. they publicaly said itll soon be getting plenty more stability updates and bugfixes. so they admitted fault there and the beta is exactly that. a beta. its them actually letting us test the versions they test faster.
so when you take these considerations in fact. the only thing you are whining about is them not updating fast enough. and thats just silly
