I have nexus one running tzones and thinking about switching to the hd2 with cyanogen. Mistly becauae I want a bigger screen and the hd2 semms to be the only 4.3" android capable phone thats compatible with tzones. I have read that tmobile finally closed the loophole on the hd2 and also that it is still working. Can people with the hd2 and tzones come in?

I've searched everywhere for information but the web is full of outdated information or speculations, I just want to know if there are any android phones that will work with T-Mobile's Web2Go/T-Zones, like a non t-mobile android phone, has anyone tried this?
I don't mind modifying my phone if that can work I have a G1, if any1 knows how to get it to work on a G1 PM me please.
nope. I tried with both mytouch 3G and Nexus One (which tmobile does not officially carry)
They can tell you have an android Operating system regardless of the phone. Faking useragent didnt work. To get Tmobile data for android phones you need the android data plan. if you get it online its 30$, but if you call Tmoible and ask them they will give you it for 25$
guy above is very wrong.
I've been using a Nexus One with my 2.99 tzones for a while now.
I think the key is not buying a phone within the tmobile IMEI range. Since the N1 was sold directly by google and could work for both ATT and Tmo, it was outside of the range.
Maybe someone can confirm my reasoning but the Nexus One works great on tzones. I get 3g speeds easy
I use a T-Mobile prepaid SIM with an unlocked Samsung Captivate and it works just fine, although on EDGE not 3G. I get the T-Zones website where I can manage my account. T-Mobile has also recently added a option for 24-hour data at $1.49 and that works as well.
Best Android phone that works on tzones is a WM phone. HD2. Flash android on it and you've got a stable android phone rooted and unlocked that works on tzones. Been using it for about 2 months now and it is AWESOME. Great thing is, the HD2 is cheap on craigslist.
Tzones uses what ? Edge or 3g.
Wife has an hd2 I flashed a nand rom on it. Id like to know if for sure can switch out over to tzones and still get great speeds

I've had the 5.99 t-mobile for years.. been through all my Moto and HTC phones starting with the first smartphone good ole MPX200 "when data was free!" not many phones at the time could even use web! 3G works great on my Nandroid HD2 currently.
N1 works on tzone. and yes, best phone that works best on tzone with 3g is the hd2 on android.

didya try changing your APNs?
http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/T-Mobile_APNs
I have a rooted G1 with the latest CM rom.
I search and found a lot of old thread about using the $10 wireless plan for the G1. However I know it has been patched by T-Mobile.
My question is how can I get my G1 to work with the current T-Mobile $10 wireless plan (I believe 2G only)?
Thanks
The $10 is for Phone First devices only. It has nothing to do with limiting the handset to 2G services only as Tmobile offers many 3G handsets that can take advantage of that package.
Does anyone have an answer to this?
I have tmobile with the 9.99 plan and it works perfectly (on edge) with my jailbroken iphone.
I just switched to the g1 and it have been rooted and a custom hero rom is installed but I cannot get my internet to work. I have tried wap.voicestream.com, internet2.voicestream.com and internet3.voicestream.com with no luck. Is there any way around this?

Thanks for the answer
Looks like I have to go back to my iphone.
Do you know if the data would work on AT&T or how about the prepaid Tmo plan?
I think ATT recently started ID'ing smartphones by the IMEI # and limiting them to data only plans. The orifices (http://tinyurl.com/33pnjj8) have there subsidy marketing model under attack and had to find a new scam.
Why is it that Tmobile HD2 phones can use the 10 dollar internet in both winmo (custom rom) and android but us mytouch 3g users cannot even with a custom android rom? They were both branded by Tmobile and they know both of there imei numbers so why cant we use the 10 dollar interent after we flash a custom rom? They are also both HTC phones aswell. I have tried just about everything short of changing my imei and i know that every time you try and use cell data it sends your imei and stuff to make sure that you have the correct plan. So why is that an HD2 can use the 10 dollar internet but we cant?
I am also curious about this.
the simple answer is, because no one cares about WinMo phones.
look at their market now in the US.
tmo could care less really. EVEN ON ATT, all the smartphones with winmo can use their cheaper $15 data unlimited.
oh and for the record the ONLY TMOBILE BRANDED ANDROID phone that works with web2go and/or cheaper data plans from tmobile is the SAMSUNG BEHOLD 2.
no other will work, and you cant consider the nexus one a branded tmo pone.
and yes the imei is why they block it no matter if you flash the rom.
Shhh. dont tell anyone but you can isuse web2go if you know what you are doing... same way all us old dash users used the 5.99 tzones as SP data

The Dash? My poor baby.
Ok so before i had my hd2, i had ANOTHER hd2, which was back since it was released, then i switched to an iphone 3g and kept the data plan from my hd2, after that, i decided to give the mytouch a chance and hated it, then in july i heard about android on the hd2, and i went back to an hd2 just to try android (because i always loved the phone and its specs, just not a big fan of winmo) but just yesterday, i was checking my bill on tmobile.com and noticed i am being charged for the mytouch data plan, so i was wondering if it makes ANY difference switching back to HD2 data plan, i am running bangsters 1.4 and the internet is working flawlessly but i noticed its a little slower than other phones (used my friend's evo on 3g network, amazingly fast, also another friends droid incredible and its also faster than fast on 3g network)
I DO KNOW the difference in the networks, and thats also why i am asking, because i dont know if the reason why my internet is slow, if its the data plan, TMO overall, the hd2, or the android OS
Lets get to the poiunt: should i keep the mytouch data plan or switch back to the HD2 data plan?? (keeping in mind i will be using it under android os)
Feel free to switch back to the HD2 data plan. It wont matter even of you're running it in android.

I have used both on my android hd2 and I so no difference in my internet speed.
If you are not on contract, switch to the Web2Go plan, which is a $10 data plan intended for non smartphones. It functions identically to the more expensive $30 HD2/MyTouch data plans, and works fine under Android as the APN can be changed appropriately (internet2.voicestream.com).

the data plan, as far as android or HD2 data plan, will not matter. There will only be a difference in an Unlimited data plan or the other t-mobile data (as suggested). This would only require a change in the APN though.
As for 4G, the HD2 is not capable of HSPA+ so this will not affect your speed... well your speed could be better based on less people using the 3G because of the '4G' HSPA+, but you will not see HSPA+ speeds ever.
and... spl = Secondary Program Load, hspl = Hard* Secondary Program Load
*I believe the 'h' stand for hard...

What really?!??!?
Does that actually work?
I have a rooted G1 and of course the HD2. The HD2 is on the unlimited data plan and data works fine on both Android and WM on the HD2. However, if I put the SIM card on my older G1, I don't get data.
Why is that? If the data plan is different for Android and WM then should we not have a problem with Android on the HD2? Or, is the HD2 still recognized by TMo as a WM device? Any ideas or suggestions?
Put the sim in your G1, call TMO and ask to be switched to the android data plan. You should be able to still use that in your HD2. The G1 wont work with a non-android data plan.
Just out of curiosity, why are you still rocking the G1 if you have your HD2 up and running? I gave mine to my wife when the HD2 came out last March. I agree the rooted G1 is a great phone, but I couldn't go back to it.

LOL @ "still rocking the G1". Actually I just wanted to use the G1 as a back up and nothing more.
