Does anyone want the regular T-mobile version? I have ATT as a provider and would like to swap my T-mobile N1 for an ATT N1. Any takers?
You should try selling or trading on Craigslist.com
I am in the Chicago area and there are a ton of people with listings regardng trades, although I haven't seen anyone wanting to trade an Att version with a T-mobile version. Usually its the other way around like in your situation.

Yeah, I got this one from work free as a long-term "test" unit. Now, the lack of 3G is starting to bug me. Unfortunately, my area is not known for its....technical capabilities. I'll see what I can find.
read some of this before you ditch your old tmo http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=01a47ff5b0a92d52&hl=en
I have a new att version and a launch tmo. MY tmo wifi works and my att doesn't.
Yours is broke.

My AT&T version WiFi works great...
Make sure you don't have the "holiday" N1 before you give it up. You don't work for Google, do you?

I have a Nexus One AT&T version and everything works fine, I also previously had a T-Mo Nexus One and it worked fine as well. Wi-fi, apps and everything else were fine.
I'm kind of in a similar position. I have the T-Mo N1 and I'm on ATT, but was looking to either trade or switch providers. Lately, I've been hearing that T-Mo might go out of business, though..

I think T-Mobile has to file a lawsuit against WSJ for that article "10 brand names will disappear in 2011" because it's ****ing up T-Mobile business.

Wait, aren't you exactly what the OP is looking for?
I'll be arriving the USA in 15 days. I intend to stay there for at least 2 years. I was looking for someone to trade with, when I noticed your post.
I have a N1 bought from Singapore (so European, with Tmo frequencies). The bootloader has been unlocked, but otherwise there is no modification/damage whatsoever. The phone is around 20 days old. Would you be interested in a switch?
I will be residing at Troy, New York (zip 12180).
EDIT: The phone also has a screen protector on it from day 0, so no scratches at all.
EDIT2: LOL, just noticed you're in the same position as me.. Ignore the above please!

No, he wants an ATT N1.
Good luck, I think if someone had an AT&T N1 and went to TMo, they would probably just sell the AT&T and buy a subsidized one from TMo, pocketing the difference. Just my thought on it... Good luck though...
Wondering if a DEV could figure out how to think my epic has been provisioned for data on HFA? I have an epic working on verizon. The only way to get data working is sending an mms...this in turn makes the phone believe it has been provisioned, and data works. I have to do this on every reboot...I believe it is due to the HFA not telling the phone/rom it is activated. I currently have the HFA "frozen" using titanium, so i dont get the annoying popup. I would greatly appreciate any help or guidance.
did you manually program the phone yourself? if so, then make sure the provisioning settings are set on a profile other than 0. If profile 0 is active, then i believe the phone is gonna try to sync with sprint servers
This is a bit OT, but how did you get it working on Verizon? I don't mean programming wise, rather them allowing the ESN on the network? Is Verizon more lax than Sprint? Is there a similar workaround to get Verizon phones on Sprint?
Lots o' questions...

Easier than you can imagine. I have my Epic working on SERO also which isn't allowed either.
None of this can be discussed on this forum, however.

He most likely changed his MEID to a that of a "donor" Verizon phone. It's illegal blah blah...

Nope, 4G is an entirely different beast. I'm happy with an Epic with 3G tho... for 30$ a month.

I can't speak for the difficulty of changing providers (as that involves a bit more then just "cloning" the phone) but judging by the fact that at least 3 people in this thread have messed with their MEID I have to disagree on its rarity. It might seem rare because the laws are supposedly stricter on this then, say, warez...

Anyhow, I know how to change ESNs, but prefer not to do so. I thought there was a way to get them to add the ESN to their database. Therefore, nothing to see, move along...

Wish I would have known this was possible before switching to Sero premium and paying 20 dollars a month extra for no reason. Damn.

You pay 20$ extra for 4G and also Anymobile.
I thought there was a way of convincing them to add the ESN to their database. I am not into swindling carriers for services, nor illegally changing my ESN. However, your decisions are yours alone.
I'll continue to pay for my services because I can afford to do so. One day when you grow up, you will too. Nonetheless, thanks for your douche response!
In order to get rid of HFA make sure that you get a data profile on the phone.
goto your dialer and put in ##3272# and enter in your verizon details.
Try ##data# > work mode > change "not provision" to either "cdma" or "wimax/cdma" must know your spc/msl code.
OR use an app like titanium backup pro (must be rooted) to remove the sprint .apk app that deals with hands free activation.
Report if that will fix your issue.

I've gotta say yours seems a hell of a lot douche-ier then his. I don't understand why people are so content with carrier bull****. If I have to break the rules just so I'm not paying for a service I can't even use (4G) then I will.
4G is just the most potent instance, I could go on and on...
wow, you guys really ****ed my thread.
if you want to fix the provision status just use qpst and change the mip tab/profile 1 to [email protected] and it will think its been provisioned thats all you have to do
I apologize if this has been covered, I didn't find anything in a quick search. A buddy was asking about flashing his Evo to Verizon. I saw a few youtube videos showing results but haven't found a process.

Sim unlock? You could call Verizon customer care or a store and ask if nobody on here knows, I assume it would work but have never heard of anyone doing it.
I dont think so.
You can have your evo run off of verizon's towers with a prl hack
swyped from my cyanogenized and gingerbreaded EVO
There's no legal way to do it.
You would have to fake your esn number and such.

Both vzw and sprint use CDMA... no simcards involved.
To OP: No, verizon requires the ESN to be already present on their database (same way as sprint) before activating the device.
The process is likely the same as it is to get the evo to work on boost, cricket, or other cdma providers.
I haven't done this personally, nor do I know anyone who has, but in theory, it seems like it should.

Boost is owned by Sprint so it makes some sense that you could cross those phones.
Not sure about cricket but it's my guess that they don't lock down their esns.
The only way I've ever heard of using a Sprint/Verizon phone on either network is with esn spoofing and it's not legal, at all.
Until carriers allow other phones ont heir networks it's a no-go. Except as said above by changing ESN (illegal) or having one hell of an inside connection. The ESN would have to be added to their database of accepted devices. Like I said...a hell of an inside connection would be needed.
You said it bro! Spoof was the word I was looking for. Will require a donor phone though on the network you want to use it on.

It's not illegal to change your ESN as long as you are paying for the fees. The legality comes in when you try to clone ESN in order to avoid fees.
But even if OP were to clone the ESN, the frequency's don't really match and would have problems working
And if this was remotely feasible, I'd have a Verizon iPhone 4 on Sprint right now.

Its kinda the culture of XDA.
And to be completely honest its encouraged by the rules, or lack there of.
So I'm currently using the Motorola Atrix on AT&T and I will be selling it for the N4. I was just wondering if I will have any problems using it with at&t or something. My contract ends in 5 months and I will be going prepaid after that. Thanks.
No problems, other than you won't have LTE. You have to set the APN manually as well, before data works. But calling works right off the bat
I wonder if it will work on Medianet, or if At&t will flag them all right away.

I would be surprised if Google didn't add AT&T's APN by default. Surely you aren't correct about this (not that it matters).
You will also need to pay $27 to get your sim changed to a micro sim... (EVEN if you buy it before hand...)

They will replace your SIM for free if you go to an official AT&T store. If you go to an "AT&T Authorized Retailer", then they may or may not do it for free.
Go here: http://www.att.com/storelocator/
Look at locations near you, and go to one that says "AT&T" and not one that says "AT&T Authorized Retailer", and you should be good.

really? this has to be the dumbest question ever. maybe some people, like me, are locked into a contract. maybe some people, like me, don't want to lose the "unlimited data". maybe some people actually get better reception for phone calls with AT&T in their area.
did you ever stop to think about some basic things like this before you just spouted off nonsense? yeah... didn't think so.

lol yeah okay because I'm sure T-Mobile's HSPA+ will defiantly get you 42Mbps all the time. Those are theoretical speeds... HSPA+ is HSPA+

E-X-A-C-T-L-Y. I am on AT&T too, and yup. On a contract, I have unlimited data, and my area gets pretty decent-great reception, so HSPA+ even at 21Mbps will do me well. And the point that it is unlocked, and it being a high spec phone for 299-349 $ blows my mind. Selling my S3 for this! I don't even have LTE in my area, so its al good! Gotta love a nexus! Pure Vanilla Android at its best.

Many places, Tmo service simply does not work. I know of three people in last year who returned Tmo phones because they couldn't make calls from their house. It's great if they have the coverage, but...
Yes if you go to a att store they should give you one for free. They gave me one when I bought the gs3 off contract. He just asked if I needed a sim I said sure and it was quick and free.

^ this is good info. I just called the att STORE down the road and they said just come in and they will give it to me free.
The deal is, I'm a paying customer. They don't give a shyte about anything else. Especially when Someone like me can just change to straight talk and walk away..
This aint my first rodeo.
So I have successfully unlocked my I337 to Straight Talk and I get full LTE around here. My problem though is that every once in awhile I lose connection to the network completely. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? Also I have somewhat down/up speed, but my ping is actually horrible. I think that could be because it's Straight Talk, but is there a way to improve this as well? I would like to have a good ping as a server administrator and chat clients to stop raging haha....
Thanks in advance!
