Dear friends of XDA, I really love HTC brand. But when you spend us$1000 for mobile device, at least U want it work.
HTC said to me, I have to send my phone for service in China, the other side of the world becouse I live in Agrentina.
It is not a cheap phone, what do you mean about HTC service system?
I was so angry, so I make this site: www.htc-eatmyshorts.com.ar . Id you have any similar problem with us friend HTC, in a litle time U can leave your comment in there.
Sorry about my english.
you spent $1000 on an HD2?
you got ripped off ? even when the HD2 was released it was no where near $1000 . HTC has nothing to do with it, and law does not protect the stupid. No offense.

Well it still costs 1000 USD here in Turkey. The desire HD has a lower retail price than the HD2, unbelievable right? Well that's just the way things are in some markets. Here you can get and experia 10 for about 200 dollars less than a hd2. The iphone 4 on the other hand cost 1500 the last time I checked. That is a 600 dollar phone in the US if I'm not mistaken. So some markets have their quirks.....

Man that SUCKS!!!!! They are way over charging you guy cover there, I truly feel for you. I would order my devices of the internet from sellers in other parts of the world to not have to pay so much.
That is a flat outrage man.
With a lot less offense, I can tell you that the law does not protect people with low IQ. But it does not matter if it costs 500 600 or 1200.
On this site you can find it as a cell phone in our country.

Well I wish we could but in Turkey we get access to networks with whitelsited devices. Where as in many countries they have blacklists where devices are banned from networks for a variety of reasons, in Turkey we have a whitelist where devices that are allowed netork access are listed. So anytime you have a foreign phone you can only use it for about 1 month before it gets removed from networks, unless you register it. To register you have to either provide proof of purchase from Turkey, or register it using a passaport, within one month of returning from abroad. An individual can only register one device every two years. So even buying a phone cheap abroad is no solution. Also cell phones are retained by customs when they are shipped by mail or parcel. So we either fork over the dough, or buy a phone every other year whenever we travel. I bought a touch pro back in 2009 in Austin for 300 bucks and used that until lastsummer when I had an HD2 brought over from Detroit by relatives. This summmer I may have a lyer brought over or if I go abroad bring over one myself. Otherwise we have to pay anywhere from 50 -100 % premium prices for some devices.

Man I hate to here you say that. That is so unfair but different countries have different rules, and they are not always fair rules. I wonder why things arecso strict on mobile devices in your country? I hope one day things will change in your country for you.
Thanks for you attention!
I have to thank you for your help against a giant, your company just keeps me going. We must not allow abuse of our rights. And if we have to push for large enterprises to meet their obligations.
Count on me for what I can help you.

hi guys,
to share the experiece here in my country (sri lanka), a person cant import his own device from overseas. because phones with gps facility are said to be banned in the country. (because of the civil war we had until last year) but if u go out to the market there are all the phones for sale for much higher prices. i phone 4 is around 1200usd. hd2 is around 700usd. it was 1000usd when it first came to the market.
so the only way if u want to buy a phone for the actual price is to get it from another country and bring it back as ur personal phone. (that gps law applies only if the phone arrives by mail!!!!) what i do is buy at ebay, get it delivered to a friend in us who would visit recently. some countries do have useless, outrageous regulations indeed.

I don´t know how any enterprice whit this kind of responses can be 2 3 or 4 year, one of the most important of the world...
Dell replace me a notebook in 3 days, becouse it fault one time... thats a goot service. I dont have to fight with nobody in the company. ONE CALL WAS ENOUGHT!
Bye, thanks and be fine!
I had a problem with my HD2 as well, this is under 1 year after purchase (warranty covered). HTC has a local distributor that takes care of repairs for phones bought locally. However, I took my phone there and they said they are not authorized to repair it since I bought it abroad. They told me they had the part in stock and could fix it easily. I asked if I could just pay them for the repair. They said no they are not authorized to touch my phone. So I called HTC and they told me to send them an email explaining the problem. I did so.
Their first reply was, shall we say, idiotic. They basically didn't read my email and told me to send it to Singapore, but didn't give me an RMA number or any way to track it, no instructions on how to mail it and wanted me to pay S$54 but gave me no instructions on how I was to pay that fee. I replied saying basically the above, then I get a call from my local distributor who tells me they are authorized to do the repair now. I have my phone back and, fingers crossed, its looking good.
Here is where I have an issue with the OP. There is no reason why HTC would tell you to send the phone to China. HTC is a Taiwanese company not Chinese. From Argentina, the worst case scenario is that you send the phone to Taiwan, not China. However, the distribution chain is local. That is if you bought your phone in Argentina, then the local distributor there is responsible for repairs. You should be mad at them for refusing to do the repair (which might be illegal in your country, it is in mine) not necessarily HTC (though there might be plenty of other reasons to be mad at HTC).
If you bought your phone through some grey market importer, which is something we have here as well, then you get a discount in exchange for no warranty. I buy products in HK this way when I am ready to buy and throw it away. For something like a high end phone though, I require warranty support.
You're right. That's exactly what I think.
The reality is that I've delivered to more than 10 tickest in different repair centers, because they themselves have asked me.
I spent a lot of money to talk to Luis .. and others who answer the phone politely. The problem is that when you end the call, you think ... this man did not answer anything, just sent me, so that the problem is solved by someone else.
Post or register a domain, not just to waste time or hurt my favorite company. It is because I have more resources and I feel very cheated.
Apparently there may be a solution, yet I have faith. I do not wish, to publish the emails, where practically laugh about me a the problem he made my, but if necessary I will do to show you that this is true.
I never tire of thanking the support I provide the forum. In fact I propose where it belongs, a place that I have available to store files, free.
Thank you very much for your time!
Gerardo

Guys are you sure you're talking about the USD in all of your posts? Have you converted it from local currency to USD? If so that's an outrageous price.
What's wrong with your phone? We can probably help here on XDA.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I am very sorry to hear that. If I may offer you advice based on my own experience with HTC, have you tried to call the support at their headquarters in Taipei? +886-266-391-147 Mon - Sat 8 am - 8 pm (+8GMT). Its not useful, they will tell you to email with anything complex. However, get the name of the person you talked to and then address the email to that person. The first reply will be useless, but keep replying to the email, be polite, not angry, but insist on getting their help.
If that fails, find out who your local distributor is, if you don't already know. Then contact the corporate number and ask to speak with the department in charge of distribution. Report your distributor to them and let them know about your website. Put your website in Spanish and target it at South Americans and start a Facebook page for it targeted at South Americans and get as many people as you can to sign up for it. This is far more effective as a tool of extortion to get megacorps to do something about your crooked distributor. I've used this tactic with other companies effectively.
As for XDA being able to help you fix it, its possible, but if your problem was like mine, then you need a new mainboard. Its a manufacturing defect of the HD2.
@Skellyyy, yeah its accurate. The prices can vary wildly, its a huge pain. While, for example, the HD2 can be US$1000, another phone can be US$150 and US$1000 in another location. I have a lot of experience in this. Here, there is a large VAT and frequently only one distributor of a brand and they can charge whatever they want if there is no strict pricing control from the original brand.
The best mass market prices are for electronics like Samsung, LG, Nokia, Acer where the parent company is the distributor or retains tight control of local price. Then we have a corrupt and ridiculous customs office, so buying via the internet can be equally expensive. Personally, I choose to not support any of these practices. I queue up a list of big ticket stuff I want to buy and take a first class trip to Singapore or Hong Kong and bring the things back with me or use a shipper that I know can avoid the extremes of customs corruption. With the savings I get buying this way, I basically get a free vacation.
When I lived in Europe, I used to hate the fact that prices would be the same number value as in the US but in Sterling (eg a laptop in the US was priced at US$1000 and then priced at UK£1000 in the UK). This is so unfair and while I lived there I was far more circumspect in what I brought. Its funny but the system there, in a way, is similar to what it is where I live now. Its a PIA and can make buying online almost as expensive as buying locally. While there, I similarly waited for a trip to the US to buy big ticket electronics.
Buying electronics when I was living in the US was the best experience. Choice, great prices, online shopping, its all very good. However, its the absolute worst system for buying phones. I hated buying phones in the US far more than anywhere else I have lived. The lack of options, the ridiculous carrier control, a required contract for buying almost any phone, for a free country, its the least free place to buy a phone and there is no escape is there? Canada is just as bad and Mexico is no place to go to buy electronics.
Of all the places I've shopped I think the best experience in buying a phone, for me, is in HK. You have to be an educated buyer, know how to haggle and be ready to pay in cash but you can get the best deals. These days, you don't even need to know how to speak Cantonese. As long as you can speak Mandarin, you can find lots of vendors to haggle with. Then there is the option to skip all the hassle if you want and pay the regular price in a place like Fortress. As a bonus you can choose either the EFIGS or CJK version of the phone there. Then they get all the newest phones the fastest. Its like a capitalist market haven for buying a phone.
actually the most expensive htc phone in turkey costs 900$

I'm not sure if anyone has tried to contact HTC regarding some sort wholesale deal. I know on there web site they welcome traders.
I have used group buys in forums before and got some great deals. (I was the Buyer not the organiser) so im note sure of the best approach to get things going.
Maybe this has been even done on this forum before
has anyone got any contacts with HTC??
Any ideas welcome!!!!!!
HTC will only listen to you when your order exeeds 10K pcs or more!
Can't we try to get anyone in the forum to buy a new one?
Than we can reacht the 10k...
count me
count me in if you bid with HTC
very good idea idea
I am for it and will take one as well.
How to effect the different units to the differnt telco operators in different countries.
Htc may have some agreement with their existing distributors and this may forstall any direct deals. However having said this it should not be a dampener as nothing is impossible. good luck to us
Good ... very Good idea.
I´m in!!
I'm in for 1 Universal. I'd be more than happy to get OS updates directly from HTC...
Htc Universal
I am also in the list for buying HTC Universal.

It's not practical. HTC won't send out 10,000 machines to different people. They won't send them alll to one person without payment in advance. So unless that person can afford to buy that many, 10,000 people will have to pay him/her first.
Would you want to have to send 10,000 items in the post to people all over the world? I certainly wouldn't.
What could be done tho is to contact the distributors Qtek or I-mate
Excellent idea. I'll be in for one.
MMB manages to buy them in relatively small quantitys from the carriers such as i'mate etc so it should be possible.I'll have on!
Ok guys, here I am, and I am going to help you all!
I want to be part of it... a huge part of it.
I badly need 9.974 pieces for my relatives and myself (yes, huge family).
There remain 26 pieces out and it's really hard to believe we can't find 26 more guys to do the deal, c'mon... Anybody can afford to pay 874 EUR to buy this jewel, am I wrong ?
Unfortunately my account is running pretty low right now: there remain only 8.715.004,28 EUR on it.
Considering I'm going to pay 8.717.276 EUR for my order (plus shipping), if I do not manage to get a discounted price, I am afraid we will need 2-3 more volunteers to join us.
Please let me know whether you are joining me or not.
I live in the USA and my carrier is Sprint. Do you think there is any way to get it activated on the Sprint network? The Universal works with EVDO, right?
If it's at all possible, throw me on the list for 2 of them. One for me, one for my wife.
hi people. hey SLVRBLLT are you telling us you are going to buy 9,974.0 units at 874 euro each??? just asking
This thread is amusing
If it were practically possible to execute such a deal, I would be in for it.
I think before we start assuming this like the number of units that need to be bought and prices etc. someone needs to take charge adn get in touch with HTC to see if such a thing is even possible.
I dont have any contacts so I can't do it. Anyone else?
humayunl is right....bit of organisation please before money starts flying to every corner of the globe....and nothing comes back
I'll throw down..
Hell....I just bought an SPV M2000, but I'll throw down for this. Count me in....

Me too. why not just have the XDA-Developers Admins involved as well? after all, there's probably one living in each country. What we should do is find the developer in our country/state and find out if we could have a sort of hub setup. if everyone pays their admin, then the admin pays the buyer, all the buyer has to do is ship X amount of units to each admin in each country, then the ppl who paid the admin can come with their paypal reciepts and pick up the units from him one by one or something
Granted, it'd be a massive operation, but if it means everyone has a universal, then i'm all for tryin it.
Well i have started off a little interest. doesn't look like its going to be easy.
Im sure someone must post on this forum who works for HTC maybe they might come out of the woodwork if they know money is involved
Maybe a few words from the moderators would be nice
I live in Taiwan, and despite HTC making the Leo here, it still seems impossible to buy one in English without going to either Hong Kong or Singapore, or having one shipped in (which carries a reasonably hefty import tax).
This is the most stupid situation i have ever come across!! Especially as there are HTC shops all over the place. Even they can't get me one in English! Nevertheless, that is what we have to deal with.
This has never been a problem in the past with my X1 for example, because i have always purchased a chinese model and re-flashed. As there is no hardSPl available yet for the leo, is it possible to re-flash or convert to English any other way? I am happy to have a retail ROM, but i don't want to shell out for a Chinese model, to find there is no way to convert it to English until hardSPL comes out.
If you can get your hands on a demo in the shops, perhaps you can work out if you can change the language en WWE?
Else, wait until the HardSPL gets released and buy one cheaper then.
English HTC HD2 in Taiwan
Last week HTC and Taiwan Mobile announced that Taiwan Mobile would be selling the HD2 in Taiwan. In the past I have gone into Taiwan Mobile's Myfone shops and asked if they could procure an English version of several of HTC's PDA phones. They assured me it was possible. If you are a Taiwan Mobile subscriber you might check this out as you could get the HD2 at a subsidized price. Also I read once on the Forumosa website that one fellow called HTC's headquarters in Taoyuan and through persistence talked them into selling him an English version of the phone he wanted, and had it delivered to him by the next day! Hope this helps.

Good luck with the headquarters in Taoyuan. Let us know how it goes. Also, next time you go to a Myfone shop, just print out the HTC Chinese press release (http://www.htc.com/tw/press.aspx?id=115674&lang=1028) and show it to them. Launch date with Taiwan Mobile is set for mid November, so that is still a few days to go.
No joy with HTC in Taoyuan. Spent a while on the phone and talked to a couple of people who both said (from what i understand - my chinese sucks!!) that microsoft only licences windows in chinese for taiwan, and therefore i would have to purchase one from a different country!!!
Sounds really stupid to me, but i guess i am left with either trying to import one (expensive) or i'll have to wait for HardSPL. Lets hope its not too long! I'm almost tempted to buy one in chinese and manage with it till HSPL is available. But if i do that i run the risk of it not coming out for months and months. Decisions decisions.......

Ya, it sounds really stupid. As far as I know the license fee for Windows Mobile is a charge per phone to use the OS on that phone. I wonder why several Myfone shops before told me they could get an HTC PDA phone in English. I have a feeling that the reason it is hard to get an English phone here is not really licensing, but the after service for an English phone! Years ago I inquired about importing an HTC phone, when it was still called Dopod, and the disadvantage to that is that it would have to be sent back to the country of purchase for servicing.
Well, now you have my interest piqued on this. I work part time with a PR company that handles Microsoft accounts, including Windows Mobile. On Monday I will make inquiries about the actual licensing situation. Nothing like going straight to the horse's mouth for an answer.
Last night I got an advertising email from HTC, and it very clearly showed the HTC HD2 as being carried by Taiwan Mobile. If you have any interest in that, I could arrange to forward that email to you. I think you could manage quite well using a Chinese phone until the XDA guys come up with the tools needed to flash into English. The disadvantage in that is of course you would have to flash back to Chinese if you had a need to use your warranty.
I am in a similar situation, as I am a (more or less) English speaking person living and working in Japan.
In the past, I ordered my HTC devices from UK or NL and brought them over to Japan on business trips.
But then, if a hardware problem occurs (which seems to get standard for HTC launches, as I experienced on my TP, and now read in other threads about the LEO), I have to send it back for warranty to the place I bought it from, or pay HTC global repair in Taiwan an unbelieveable hight amount to repair it.
Not only does HTC global repair ask 30USD just for handling charge of pverseas purchased phones, but also du they make you to pay both way shipping, which is my case was 12USD from Japan to Taiwan by Japanese post, and then (you better sit down now) 109USD for Taiwan to Japan by DHL (which HTC chose, and I had no influnce on). This 109USD is only shipping, not import tax or such sort of things. The bill for that came two weeks later, which I of course refused to pay, as I already own the device, so it has no commercial value anymore.
Well, I am still undecided when and where to get my HD2.
I was thinking to order it from UK or NL again to coworkers in Germany, and then bring it over to Japan in December, but I am scared of getting the volume up button hardware problem and having to send it back to UK or NL for replacement, for which I have to wait until my next business trip to pick it up.
Why is HTC always making it so difficult for us. I mean we just want to spend our money on their products, should they make this easy for us!?

I had the same problem with my old HTC C500 when i first got here. I had a blad flash and bricked it, and when i went into the HTC shop here, they told me i had to send it back to HTC Europe, or Orange UK to get the thing fixed! Stupid Stupid policy!!!
On the flip side, i went into a shop on Bade Lu last week to ask about an english Leo, and they told me if i waited till wednesday next week they would be able to change it to english for me. Dont know if that means they know something about HardSPL coming out that people here dont, or whether they are talking rubbish but then i'm not hopefull. Like the MyFone shops also saying they can get them in english - that turned out to be complete bull when i was trying to get an X1.
Though on a side note, not ever having purchased a HTC phone as early as this, it is starting to worry me hearing some of the faults that seem to be developing and hearing that the first batches of HTC devices seem to be problematic in various ways. Should i wait for the later batches?

Probably the Bade Road people were telling you the truth, but I do not think they have any esoteric knowledge of HardSPL. I was given an old O2 branded Himalaya with the Chinese version of Windows Mobile 20003 on it. The original owner had it on contract with CHT. It was originally sold CID unlocked so I was able to flash it into Windows Mobile 6.1, then 6.5. I also know a fellow here who has a CHT HTC Touch that came with Windows Mobile 6.1. Neither CHT nor HTC issued an official update, but he was able to flash it to 6.5, and as far as I know, he did not use HardSPL. It is my understanding that many of the phones sold here come CID unlocked, and that is more than likely what you would get from the Bade Road people, especially if you are not buying it on contract with any of the cell phone carriers here.
Waiting for a later batch certainly would not hurt. Did you ask about the exchange policy of the store on Bade Road in the event that you got a defective model?
So basically you are saying that if it is CID unlocked you can flash with custom roms without hardSPL or more likely, i can flash with official HTC english rom without hardSPL or it saying "this phones IMEI is not registered for this upgrade....bla bla"
I'm probably gonna head down to the shop on wednesday after work when they said they could sell me an english one and see if i can actually get one first!! They said 1 hour to change, so if they can indeed do that, that that would be great. I didnt ask about returns, as i would like to be sure they can get me one in english first. If they said i had to return it to HTC instead of them, then i think that would probably be a deal breaker given previous experience.......

As far as my experience goes, with a CID unlocked phone, you should encounter no problems such as IMEI, etc., unless some new protection scheme has been inaugurated in the HD2. (If I am wrong here, I hope someone will correct me.) For returns, or repairs, of course the phone would have to be flashed back first to the original Chinese ROM, but that sure is better than sending it overseas to be repaired or replaced! HTC's local service is not really that bad.
Keep us updated on what you find. Since I am a Taiwan Mobile subscriber I am thinking of getting the phone through them. The cost going through TWN is 新台幣25,900元.

Freakin'awsome. If i can do that, i may head down tomorrow and see if i can get one!
I never understand these taiwan service providers charges for phones. 25k is what they cost to buy outright. They were like that with the x1. MyFone were asking more with a 12 month contract, than buying it outright from a store less than 30 feet away round the corner. Where's the insentive?
To save yourself from frustration, make sure that the phone you get is actually a CID unlocked version! I think the only incentives for buying with a carrier here is that the payments are spread over time and it usually comes with an unlimited data plan at minimal monthly costs, but is also requires a two year contract. (No problem for me, I have been with TWN since the late 1990's.)
I look forward to hearing if you do decide to buy, and how the flashing goes. Good luck!
HD2 in TW
Good luck.
Let me know if you have trouble locating the rom and I'll upload it somewhere.
I believe HTC are a bit annoyed about it being posted.

No dice.....cant even buy a chinese one yet! 1 guy says next week, another says next month. Bummer. How can europe get these things first, and taiwan: the place that designs and manufactures them doesnt get them till after. Go figure!

Actually there is a reason for that. HTC was at one time strictly an OEM supplier, and their major customers (such as 02) were in Europe. I suspect delivery first to Europe stems from this history. It was not until later they started to develop a brand name, and at first that name was Dopod (a name that was ridiculed in some western quarters). HTC later absorbed Dopod (that was not difficult as it was essentially a family affair). For sure you must have been noticing their efforts in the last couple of years to develop brand awareness in the NA market.
Now, what you will find is that in Taiwan marketing it is the designated distributors (in this case, Taiwan Mobile) who will get the first batches of phones on the local market. Time varies from one to two weeks all the way to a month before the shops can get their hands on the new models. Taiwan Mobile now is showing the HTC HD2 on their website.
It is just the way it is that things work in Taiwan. But, at least that time delay increases your chances of getting a phone that comes from a batch that does not have defects that have been surfacing.
Sorry if I bored you with all of the above. I used to work with the Taipei Computer Association and my job was pretty much reporting new Taiwan IT products to the world through a website (connected to Computex Taipei) and an email newsletter, so I carry around in my head a lot of rather trivial information on the history of Taiwan's IT industry.
When you do get the phone, let us know how the flashing goes. As I recall there are two types of flash programs, and one allows you to easily flash a phone to another language, the other results in not being able to flash due to language incompatibilities. If you search the XDA archives I think you can find the information on that if you run into that problem. I am too tired tonight to re-research that for you.

Taiwan IT
I am sure your knowledge of the history of IT mfg in Taiwan is very interesting. I have a huge admiration for Taiwans It industry.
They have given the world high quality low cost technology that is truly astonishing. I have been building my own pc' for 13 years and thanks to TW IT, I, (we all) get amazing bangs for bucks. I am a huge fan of HTC for this reason.

I know many people outside of the chosen few countries want to get their hands on this latest android offering from the G-mothership. Down here in New Zealand we have the network through Vodafone to use the phone, but what I'm wondering is the following...
Is there a technical reason why the phone want work in countries outside the current lucky ones?
Does the online Activation require you to be in one of those countries, or limited to those countries? Or is activation optional?
Can anyone think of any other reasons or workarounds?
I'm planning to get the phone through the UK and send it back to NZ. All I really need to know is that I'm not shipping a $800NZ "superphone" paper weight.
Any help appreciated, I know other people will find this info useful in other countries.
Currently using a HTC Touch Diamond 2 that I got shipped from Hong Kong and its been working fine. Hoping the same applies to the Nexus One
Hey I live in New Zealand also. Currently I am waiting for my nexus one to be shipped from California to Auckland, there's more details at geekzone.co.nz under Android
Sweet as, good to hear someone else is trying.
You can use a reship service like shipitto or demail
http://demailbox.com/
demail is probably the best because they're based in delaware which doesnt add tax. Also I think shipping to the US is free when you order a nexus.
So you would pay demailbox a fee for handling your package and providing a 'virtual' US address in delaware, and the shipping from there to your country.
You would pay google just for the phone and free shipping to the virtual US mailbox.
Then you'd pay tax/duty when it enters your own country. Really the only extra here is the demailbox fee, as you'd have to pay the rest even if google shiped to you.

I had no clue it was region locked =/ or am i understanding this wrong. I thought they were just selling it in those countries but not just enabling them in those countries. I'm also waiting on mine
babijoee which country are you in?
There's no region lock, but you need to look at the frequencies that are supported.
Its also unclear if the phone is linked to the google checkout account it was bought from for activation.
I went through the standard prompts on the N1 and didn't see anything about a specific "registration".. I imagine I could have used any of my Gmail accounts to setup the device. The word "registration" never came up.
We were unable to find any Nexus One phones to activate.
If you purchased your phone as an upgrade, you should transfer your SIM card from your old T-Mobile phone to your Nexus One. Only ported phone numbers require activation. Contact T-Mobile Customer Care with further questions.
Ahh that makes sense So activation isnt an issue

Hey i live in Delaware. Think there is a business in this for me..lol. I will be an intermediary ;-)
Edit: Not to mention I work at UPS
Dears,
here is what you need to do..
Get a US proxy ... or you cant order via Google Checkout (IP checking)
They accept none US Credit Cards... well at least they took my Kuwaiti... (your bank my stop this not them !!!)
Ship to your "US" address ... I use BorderLinx (Owned by DHL !)
They (G) shipped mine overnight to "OH" (Seems they ship from nearest warehouse so that they Raise US TAX... !)
Mine "arrived" on Friday.. and is currently on route to Kuwait... I'll get it on Tuesday..
So the whole thing including US TAX, Shipping(Express->US->Q8) and customs (Here) cost $678...
No issues with the Freq - 3G as the N1 supports ROW (Rest of World) it only has issues with the US...
BTW the Shipping weight is 1.57KG (Fedex AWB stated 0.9KG) as stated by DHL..
Working one

thanks! has been looking for this for long time.
Hey so I have been searching for the best place to buy a HD2 T9193 so I can use it on AT&T US 3G network. Everywhere I look, there seems to a consensus of anywhere from $800-1000. Then I find this guy, who's hotmail email address is cherryda78, who is selling them for $299 plus shipping. After emailing him he says would be $30. Here are some of the ads he has up online.
**So apparently I cannot post links because I am a new user. I copied the links to a .txt and attached it to this post. How I do I go about getting verified btw?**
I emailed him and he responded the next day with this. Below is our email thread:
Mr. Cherry Da,
I am interested in purchasing the HTC HD2 phone you have listed here and here (these were links). I have been dreaming of this phone for about 4 months now, and to get it would be just amazing. I know you can unlock the radio and run it on US 3G with AT&T. I do have some questions though. You have the phone listed for $299 USD. Is that correct? It seems much lower than most other sites right now, so I am pleasantly surprised but cautiously skeptical. Could you please provide some more information for me? How come you are offering it at such a great price?
Thank you so much!

Seems very shady to me, but for $300, I almost want to take the gamble. My question is if anyone has bought a HD2 from this guy, or would buy. Also, what has everyone paid for your phone? And where did you get it?
Thanks!
Telstra doesn't even sell it that cheap... so fishy...
it is either fake or stolen.
Hahaha Western Union or Bank Transfer - so you have absolutely NO recourse when (not if) this transaction goes south.
"Commenwealth" of Australia? Really?
If you want to throw out $330, send it to me instead!
The same guy is selling the Supersonic for €236! Does HTC have a massive leak in their supplychain that they are totally unaware of?
Please don't send this guy your money. The price is huge red flag and the Western Union or bank transfer only is an even larger red flag. If you send this guy your money you'll never see it again and you'll never receive the phone. This is a scam.
Hmm, poor broken english + only accepts western union or bank wire transfer + rediculous low price = SCAM to me. If it sounds to good to be true.....
don't, just ..... don't
Of course it is a scam.
scam.... Run, run very far.
chinese copy, gotta be, put the phrase
HTC TOUCH HD2 T9193 LEO 3G Unlocked USD$299
into google and there are dozens of hits, dollars, euros, and in one the company info is a pda manufacturer in china.
HD2 9193 is the best phone
Telstra charges AU$829.00 outright or AU$80/month for 24 months (but the call rate of Telstra is extremely high).
so $329 is fake or scam
Don't even think about it.
I work for Telstra, and there is no way that anyone can sell a Telstra Branded HD2 for that price. As mentioned earlier, if you buy it outright from a Telstra Shop it costs over A$800. You may be able to find a slightly used one for around A$700 on eBay.
As someone else pointed out,
Commenwealth of Australia, that should of been your first giveaway.
I tell ya, I know you want the phone...We all do but, be careful.
Any one that will not take a credit card for a high dollar purchase
is someone you need to avoid.
Ebay is the best or Amazon. At least you can track your
order by purchase.
Buy it and give us some feedback
buy it,I pay you $350.
Don't do it! My brother did the same thing on a weight machine set that was for $400 n normally it goes for $1200 n he send a money order n never got the weight machine n he couldn't do anything about it. Its a scam!! Don't do it!!
Scam
This definitely sounds like a scam, it will either not arrive and you can say goodbye to your cash, or it will be a cheap imitation. I know someone who bought a iPhone (idiot!) through ebay and it turned out to be some other type of handset with an 'iPhone looking' case. Didn't even look like an iPhone next to a real one.... avoid!
Scam, scam... If you want to get one cheaper, look in XDA's own marketplace (I picked one up for £310, maybe $550)
Thanks everyone

Hello everyone, this end of the month I will go on vacation in New York from Italy, and I'd love to buy the new nexus 4, but obviously I can not use the play store not having neither a credit card nor a U.S. place of dispatch . I saw, however, that tmobile will sell in their stores, I was wondering if in addition to the version with contract tmobile also sold only the phone, just in case a higher price than the playstore 349usd. thank you very much in advance.
"Rumor" has it T-Mobile USA will market it up to $ 500.00 without a contract (witch I find ridiculous) BUT that hasn't been confirmed .. At this point they are all speculations.

If the markup turns out to be ridiculous (charging 500 USD for a 350 USD phone) then call your hotel (or wherever you're staying) and see if you can get packages delivered there. The delivery should take less than 5-6 business days, so it's doable if you're staying in America more than a week. If that's not the case, then you could always find a quick free vpn trial, vpn to America and purchase the phone before you get here so it's at your hotel before you are (just have them hold it if they will, again make sure it's ok before you do so). Good luck! Enjoy your stay!

Unfortunately my problem is: to buy something on playstore U.S. you have to pay with a American credit card , which unfortunately (and I would say of course ) I did not. I had also thought to send me the N4 to the apartment but would be very risky and unreliable. the only solution would be to find someone who will buy me , but who has all this trust in others?
ps: I'd buy it for 500usd I must admit, that the currency exchange is always much less than 549euros that would 700usd. I would only confirm that it is sold in tmobile stores

Really the trust only has to go one way. If you are willing to take the chance then you pay in advance and you are the only one that needs to trust. If you want the other person to send the phone without getting paid first then that person is the only one that needs to trust someone. You could check with some bank to be the go between and let them hold your money until they get the phone.

it is still a complicated and difficult to accomplish. whether I trusted, to give money to someone I do not know (which I do not think I'd do) and if someone you trust to loan me the money. not to mention that I would only public transportation in a city that does not know to pick up the box. of course now I will try other solutions and this will take it into consideration only as a last choice. plus I also find this person that would make me the favor. thanks anyway for your suggestion.
however, still no news / certainty that n4 is sold without a contract?
has anyone had any new news about my question?
