i keep my sim card in my nexus s and keep my nexus one without a sim card. the nexus one always says "emergency calls only", so im assuming that your phone doesnt see the card. first thing that i would check would be the sim card itself, the other option isnt as pleasant. anyways, most likely its the sim. ive had them die on me before, more than a few times.

oh man thanks my phone works now!! ) noob:/

great! im glad that it was easy

I just started having this issue as well. I was flashing the recovery manager update and it froze and it caked my Recovery partition as well. I had to go through several different things just to get my phone working (while i was @ work). Do you think its possible that the recovery manager messed up the SIM?

i think i messed up because i didnt flash the radio.zip for nexus collab..and also i kept getting a notification to update rom manager yet there was no option..probably right

Well I've flashed both KB1 and KB3 and no luck so far.

I have a spare sim at home, I'm going to try that, but I've never had a SIM do what it is doing now. Ill post an update if it works. I wonder if flashing the radio can stress the SIM card over time, because honestly I've flashed the radio like over 40 times...

wanna BREAK my F#$*ing EVO!!

after ROOTing with TOAST and unrevoked i keep having this constant random SD card failure.sometimes ASTRO file doesnt read anything and sometimes it just crashes.even rebooting doesnt help.i have a STOCK rom as of now.its getting really irritating and fraustating for me so PLEASE any suggestion and help would consider genorosity.
This was an issue when the EVOs were first released and it was addressed in the first OTA update.
If you're indeed running stock now go to settings > System Updates > HTC software update and see if there is anything waiting for you there.

if i update software wouldn't that break my root or brick my phone?
Would break root.
Just back up your sdcard to your pc and format it, that should work
I broke my screen today, so you could just send me your evo and you can take mine and we will call it good?
i haven't had a single problem with my card, but i'm not using the stock card, either. try a larger class 6 card, see if that helps. you can get them for about 45 bucks for a 16gb card

I had the same problem. I bought 2 evo's on launch day day, one for the wife and one for me. Hers worked fine, mine kept giving me problems even after the first update. It wound up that the sd card was somewhat damaged. I tried reformatting it several times with many different methods but it still didn't help. It just kept getting progressively worse, causing random reboots, constantly saying the card was damaged, eventually it caused my phone to freeze and restart in a loop. I replaced the card with one I had in my g1 from adata and now it works great. Just a bad card I guess.
flash with the OTA update and ull be set!
thanx guys I backed up all my files and switched to a new 16gb SD HC.so far so good, hopefully no more frustrations.thank u

I fixed mine by doing a full reformat of the SD card, and making sure it was seated well in the phone. Pulled it out, and put it back in. Worked fine and probably still does (I'm using a Class 6, 16GB card now)
There are plenty of reasons i want to break my F***ing Evo but c'mon, an sdcard?
The root method you used... well, it contains an OLD rooted ROM.
Make sure you flash the OTA rom.
That's why. The old version had SD card problems.
I had this problem too. It was annoying.

the reason is because i have lotta snes roms, videos, pics, wallpaper and third party apps in the SD card.i spent most of the time at work playing movies or snes or other stuff that r in the SD,so yea its pretty important to me for the device to read the Sd card.
hopefully no problems anymore on the new 16GB SD i jus put in.
just to clarify dont do the actually ova update that we have now, just get the rooted rom with the update added

HELP

My friend unrooted my phone with the One click lag fix app and now i dont have CWM or root and when i try to do the One click Root it fails. So i tried to wipe everything but when it reboots it still shows all my stuff that normally would be deleted from a wipe like all my texts, contacts, recent calls... i tried the odin thing and got the same results. the phone has voodoo on it but i cant remove it b.c i dont have cwm i really need help im about to crack this pos in half Thanks
Okay. So you had OCLF and Voodoo installed?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
i was rooted in the past then installed cwm and a voodoo this was like 3 weeks ago. Now he just downloaded OCLF and all he did was unroot it... so i smacked him and tried to do the OCR and it does not work. I put the phone into recovery and then wipe everything and it does nothing but remove all my apps and starts on the welcome to android where you would log in to your gmail and when i try that it doesnt work... i think i killed the phone
When it boots do you hear the robot voice?
good day.
no on that robot voice.
Is it safe to assume you don't have good nandroid (before mucking with the device) ? And is update.zip still on your sdcard?
good day.
You should be able to completely remove voodoo, then Odin to stock and re-root from there.
The touch screen doesn’t work properly on Desire
I got the HTC Desire with contract from UK Three mobile,It had a problem with touch screen, It worked normally but sometimes the touch screen didn’t work but it just sometimes. While the touch didn’t work I was difficulty to use with buttons and I couldn’t type on it. So, I sent it back to service centre to repair this problem. The service connect me, they couldn’t find any fault on it. I think the screen happens sometimes and they didn’t found at that time. Now I get my phone back and I still having problem. So I try to change firmware and now I already upgrade to Froyo (2.10.405.2) and think about problem in firmware. The new firmware work on it and it also have touch screen problem sometimes. The problem is so bad and sometime it is very difficulty to open @ (slide to unlock) screen. Please give me some help about my Desire. Thank you.

I should have read more carefully. Sorry.
Then I can assume you have tried to ODIN the CWM kernel and dropped the update.zip on your sd card?

Weird problem with flashing after new sim

Hey everyone. Not really sure if anyone else had a problem so I figured I'd share. Like a week ago, I lost all service on my phone. Got in touch with T-Mobile and they confirmed my sim card went bad. For whatever reason I thought if they knew I had flashed the phone they might charge me for a new sim card, so I flashed my old rooted stock backup just to be safe. Had the sim changed and all was well. Had to sign in the phone again with Google but all was well. Until I tried to restore my backup... for somen reason it wouldn't work. I made sure the phone was still rooted, but it just wouldn't work. I was using Rom manager, and everytime it rebooted it came to a screen with the little Android and froze. Long story short, I found out that I had to reinstall Rom manager and busybox to get it all to work. Not sure why, but that seems to be what helped it all go through. Anyway, figured I'd share that in case anyone else had that issue in the future! Sorry its lengthy but I wanted to squeeze in the main points

Stock ROM without removing a few scripts restores stock Android recovery, which is the android with the triangle....
I figured something like that...tried reflashing clockwork no good, then amon ra no good...I got it to work eventually, took some time...just weird that it acted up the way it did lol

[Q] Radio Dead, No Cellular

I've spent two days flashing, re-flashing radios, different ROMs, stock, rooted, not rooted, locked, unlocked and cannot get any cell service. Phone was rocking LTE with PAC ROM a few days ago then cell service just stopped working.
Also, any version other than stock 4.2 causes a boot loop.
Really....really weird.
Was using on T-Mobile...very happily.
I think I fried my radio.
Anybody have any advice? About to call Google to try to get RMA
Cheers!
have you tried a different simcard, or your simcard in a different phone?
Yes, tried different sims

Yes, I sure have. My IMEI is being shown as "Uknown".
Tried *#*#4636#*#* and none of the phone setting stick. I tried to "Select Radio Band" but when I choose "USA" it kicks back an error.
Could using the Hybrid modems have caused this problem?
What are the chances of Google replacing my phone, purchased in June?
Boot loop

Any time I load anything but 4.2, I get a boot loop. I've tried several different ROM's - and boot loop on every one. Watching CyanogenMod spinning for 10 minutes right now...about to give up.
Is there any logs I can look at?

Thanks for the help!

My phone keeps rebooting over and over again.

When I first got my phone ((Without a simcard)) My phone rebooted like maybe twice in the 3 days. But ever since I put my simcard in ,after about 4 hours ish. I notice it rebooted and just after about 10 seconds or less it reboots again. It did it yesterday about 5 times in a row before I turned off my phone booted into recovery and cleared my cahce and dalvik, removed the sim, booted my phone and put the sim back in. No problems after that.
Then today morning It did it again rebooting back to back, removed the simcard out.
Does anyone know what is going on? Is it my simcard? I also have a case on, could that be? I can't rma cause I don't live in the states.
Adding on. It was my old phones simcard and hard to get cut. On android 6.1 running elementalx
Bump. I am thinking of going back to factory. What is the best way to do it? Using the one in settings or should I reflash googles stock image and unroot using nexus toolkit.
try a properly cut simcard. like one actually meant for the phone

It doesn't look like it has anythin to do with the sim. I left my phone without the sim and it rebooted 2-3 times. Booted into safe mode and rebooted once.
do you have any crappy apps on the phone, or did u edit things while being rooted, that maybe you shouldnt have

I did change my governor options to something called ghostpepper settings from another thread, maybe its that? But like I said it all started happening yesterday. I have managed to get my bugreports. I could attach them.
Which method is best? Factory rest from the android settings or flashing stock image using nexus tool kit.

I don't believe in toolkits, but feel free to use it.
I'd reflash the stock image, personally.
bump
You won't much support here for tool kits. They can cause trouble to begin with. Try flashing stock image and use Heisenberg's guide in doing so. If you successfully return to stock (not using a toolkit) and you still have issues I would say you have a hardware issue.
