Does this mean we can get gingerbread on our tabs or is tab to much different then galaxy S
http://phandroid.com/2011/04/18/samsung-releases-android-2-3-source-for-galaxy-s-gingerbread-update/
This is only for the kernal. If you want gingerbread look for cm7 at your own risk. There is already a kernel for cm7

When using Rom manager to update my CWM it asks me what my phone is. My options are Galaxy S I9000 or I9000(MTD). What should i choose and why?
What does MTD stand for?
Thank you for your time
They are variants of the international i9000 version.
M --> Canada
T --> Brasil
D --> ???

If u want or use cm7/MIUI rom choose I9000(MTD) if u want to use it with any other rom use I9000
MTD is a different method of using flash memory, used in cm7, whereas samsung uses BML. Choose MTD for roms like miui and cm7 or the other for samsung based roms etc...

Hello
Which one should I use if I use CM9?
Is there a good clear explanation of the MTD and nonMTD versions?
On CyanogenMOD's download page, the CM9 ROM file is called cm-9.1.0-galaxysmtd.zip
I guess MTD is the right one for me.
Thank you.

Can we get a leak of Android 2.3.5 for Galaxy S??
What's new in 2.3.5?
Found it myself: http://androideffect.info/cyanogen-multiple-smartphones-pass-android-235/
Very minor stuff, wouldn't count on it to be honest.
thanxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
If the changes are that minor, I believe Samsung will prepare update. It's not like they have to rewrite and recompile whole system.
cm7 latest nighty is 2.3.5
But 2.3.5 it is not and Android release, just a mod.
Besides, CM7 is still not stable and some features are missing.
2.3.5 is only official for google phones - I.e. nexus S

Latest android build is 2.3.6!
Can someone pls up a download to Multiload!

Can't wait for a thread guessing it's the "last firmware" and that samsung will "let us down"...
Go to www.samfirmware.com and download 2.3.5 JVS.

I am reluctant to install this, until the kernels and roots are sorted out and bug fixed.
Not looking good for ICS...
http://briefmobile.com/motorola-atrix-4g-update-4-5-141-coming-february-7th-its-not-android-4-0
We have CM9 on its way, and lot of mods with ICS stuffs on it, why still wait for ICS from Motorola...
Enjoy the Custom mods....
For now at least, those of us using the webtop are stuck with blur based roms, which makes the idea of an official ICS very appealing.
For now only razr is beeing worked, after all omap 44xx devices get ICS, since are easier to port, "We will provide ICS to other devices."

Who cares about ICS Motorola update. We need a kernel update. Any news about that??

Acerbix made a OC kernel for CM9. You can find in his CM9 Kang thread

Hmmmm.... A noob question real quick:
Does this mean that we'll see stable custom clean ICS ROMs (meaning without TW and without the SPen) shortly or do we still need to wait for Samsung's official ICS release for drivers and stuff?
AOSP issues should be easier to resolve if nit completely fixed

Don't think it will be quicker
The kernel is not open source and the kernel is what controls the drivers so we will still be waiting for the galaxy note kernel source
However hopefully the note ics will be based on this build
Maybe this is what samsung was waiting for

The kernel IS open source, and the GPL compels them to release the source code. However this doesn't need to be until the upgrade is officially released, expected sometime in Q2

Hey guys, i am new to galaxy S, before i had galaxy ace,
can u suggest me a good ROM
Hey!
I used at last XXJW4 (europe), based on the last official release from samsung. The original was not so bad - the customized version I found here on XDA: really amazing!
So just look for the last official release for your region (e.g. via KIES) and find a optimized version on XDA.
(sorry for my "english" - I hope you will understand and this would help)

You can try ics slim 3.9 or cyanogenmod 9 , the latest nightly. Both are solid and established roms. I prefer slim because of the included tweaks like variable resolution and some system menus.

but how do i install the cm9...seen i have 3e in my recovery....and how i flash the cm9 kernel...noobie for me in i9000 ..

SlimICS is good, or CM9/AOKP they're pretty popular.

Keep in mind that you'll lose Sammy stuff.
cyanogenmod 9 is the wise choice i guess...!!!
Try slim, you won't regret it!!!!

I think your best choice it's CM9 instaling gapps and samsung apps.. then if u find that smooth & fast.. try TWICS 3.01 or RemICS i haven't find any roms faster than those.. and they look like samsung stock roms.. and battery life it's Amazing (Just try 'till u find one thats fits your needs..)
