[Q] Galaxy S I9000 or I9000(MTD)? - Galaxy S I9000 General

When using Rom manager to update my CWM it asks me what my phone is. My options are Galaxy S I9000 or I9000(MTD). What should i choose and why?
What does MTD stand for?
Thank you for your time

They are variants of the international i9000 version.
M --> Canada
T --> Brasil
D --> ???

If u want or use cm7/MIUI rom choose I9000(MTD) if u want to use it with any other rom use I9000

MTD is a different method of using flash memory, used in cm7, whereas samsung uses BML. Choose MTD for roms like miui and cm7 or the other for samsung based roms etc...

Hello
Which one should I use if I use CM9?
Is there a good clear explanation of the MTD and nonMTD versions?
On CyanogenMOD's download page, the CM9 ROM file is called cm-9.1.0-galaxysmtd.zip
I guess MTD is the right one for me.
Thank you.

unable to use Clockwork Recovery Mod after update

After updating to a new version of Darkyy's Rom on my Galaxy i9000 I have been having issues with the clockworkrecovery mod. The Rom is working fine however when try to enter recovery mode instead of showing CWM it shows a scattered, random mixed coloured screen however it is not frozen and will allow me to reboot by pressing the power button. is there anything I can do to fix this?
Bootloaders? Did you go from froyo to gb? If so, Search for bootloaders thread by nitr8 in development section and flash gingerbread bootloaders.

If anyone is having the same problem just flash Darky's 10.2 resurrection edition via odin. This has fixed all issues

Try to flash any custom kernel like semaphore or galaxian or talon dev and then come back to ur default kernel. You can either use SGS kernel flasher by Neldar or Odin (load kernel as PDA, DO NOT select "re-partition").

New to galaxy S

Hey guys, i am new to galaxy S, before i had galaxy ace,
can u suggest me a good ROM
Hey!
I used at last XXJW4 (europe), based on the last official release from samsung. The original was not so bad - the customized version I found here on XDA: really amazing!
So just look for the last official release for your region (e.g. via KIES) and find a optimized version on XDA.
(sorry for my "english" - I hope you will understand and this would help)

You can try ics slim 3.9 or cyanogenmod 9 , the latest nightly. Both are solid and established roms. I prefer slim because of the included tweaks like variable resolution and some system menus.
Tapatalk

Keep in mind that you'll lose Sammy stuff.
cyanogenmod 9 is the wise choice i guess...!!!
Try slim, you won't regret it!!!!
Send from my Galaxy S with Slim ICS 3.9 + Semaphore 1.2.2
I think your best choice it's CM9 instaling gapps and samsung apps.. then if u find that smooth & fast.. try TWICS 3.01 or RemICS i haven't find any roms faster than those.. and they look like samsung stock roms.. and battery life it's Amazing (Just try 'till u find one thats fits your needs..)

I am currently using Creed 3.5 ROM. Though it is a good ROM, it doesn't let me customize the power widget (one that shows WIFI / Data /Bluetooth / Brightness / AutoSync) options etc.
On my Motorola Droid with CM 7.2, it lets me do all of that.
install cm9 by whitexp

You can't installed any version of the CM7 available in this forum. The rom is still undergoing development and trials to render it suitable for everyday use. The rom is still full of bugs and thus not suitable for daily use. The developers in xda have put in every effort to make it suitable for our galaxy y. Some versions of the CM7 never boots at all while in the other there is one problem or the other. At this stage, we can only hope for the best.

Gingerbread

Can i install stock gingerbread rom on galaxy y...not touchwiz interface but with original android interfaced stock gingerbread rom...
?????

U can't do that....
I might be wrong

As alkesh95 said, it will not work. The stock rom SHOULD be of the original touchwiz interface. This is necessary for every Samsung device.
To be more clear
Our custom roms are developed from stock roms. These stock roms/firmwares are developed by samsung. Samsung modifies the source as per device requirement and also adds their own UI i.e. Touchwiz.....
Pure gingerbread is in nexus phones and they use it...
P.s. I might be wrong
