[Q] LeeDrOiD 3.0.2 boot animation - Desire Themes and Apps

I have tried to edit the boot animation using UOT kitchen on the LeeDrOiD rom since version 2.2 but have had no success!
i believe it is stored in system/customize/resources. i pick this option in UOT and the boot animation doesn't change.. i pick the option "Sense ROM" in UOT and still no change... any ideas?

It might be write-protected. If you can, get root explorer, and get a custom animation zip file.
Make sure its called bootanimation.zip
Copy to SD.
Using root explorer, navigate to system/customize/resources, mount as writeable, (little touchbox near the top). You should see a file called bootanimation.zip in there- that is the one in use.
Now go back, find where you saved your custom bootanimation.zip, copy and replace the other file. If you want, rename the original to bootanimation(1).zip and place your custom zip in next to it (in case it doesnt work and you want to revert to previous animation.)
Exit, Reboot, and should be done =)
Hope this helps.

Yeah that method definitely works as I've got a custom bootanimation on LeeDrOiD 3.0.2
Also, while you're there, you can delete (or rename) android_audio.mp3 if you want to get rid of the sound on startup.

Ugh agreed, I rebooted in the middle of the night, forgot that earlier I had turned sound back on, and scared the SH*T outta me!

Thanks for the info, do you need to be S-off to do the above?

When I rooted I S-OFF'ed straight away, so to be honest I don't know. As far as I'm aware, no, you need S-Off for the SPlash screen, not the Boot animation. Don't quote me on this though

Think so yeah.

I thought S-OFF was needed to make changes to the system folder while the phone was switched on (in it's normal mode...) ?
Maybe I misread somewhere

Like I said, I'm not too sure, I guess there's no harm trying it with S-ON?
@UKseagull, if you want to get S-OFF on the desire, try Unrevoked-Forever, if that doesn't work (like for me) I found an alternative.
Get AlphaRev, Click Here and download the .iso file.
However, I had a little problem burning the image as it wouldn't boot, so I used virtualBox to run it and gain S-OFF that way.

if I remember correctly unrevokedforever only works for cdma desire but not GSM so alpharev is your only option.

Ah, that's very interesting, I didn't realise. Thanks for the heads-up =)
+1

Confirming, to edit system folder you need to be s-off. Any problems with adobe flash, as it's in system, you need to be s-off. Struggled to make changes till s-offed today.

I'm gonna give it a try now..
I'm S-ON so if that doesn't work, would using adb work?
Edit: Just realised there's a second page LOL. I don't particularly wanna S-OFF, should I try adb?

Did you manage to do it on s-on?

I believe if you use ADB you can put the bootanimation.zip into /system/customize/resource folder.
If you haven't flashed the ROM yet you can just delete the original bootanimation.zip from the ROM zip folder and replace it with whichever one you want..

Did you test out the ADB method? I have a custom boot anyway, I was just wondering if you could state whether or not it worked for you so others if they have the same question could possibly get a solution.

Anyone know where to get the sound that the boot comes with (R2D2)

Download leedroid Rom and have a look in zip.

Virus boot animation

My friend has the HTC evo which is the same screen size as the DX, and I noticed he had a sick boot animation from the Virus rom. I had him send me the bootanimation.zip file.
Would this work if I replace my current bootanimation with it?
I am just worried about whether or not it will boot. I know how to do everything else
Give it a try. Your phone will still boot if it doesn't work.

Yea all that will happen if it doesnt work is ull have a black screen while it boots up instead of an animation... Even if it wasnt sized right as long as u put it in data/local in its zipped form it should work

/data/local? In all of my experiences it has only worked in /system/media, which is where my current one is and there is nothing in /data/local. I will try both I guess.
And yes I will post the file here, just after I test it
Well apparently data/local is the default for any rom... (it would override system/media if there was somthing there.) Let us know how it works for you.

I just tried it, and it worked perfectly. I copied the file into /system/media where my old bootanimation.zip was, and rebooted, and it worked. There was no boot animation in /data/local, and when I put it there in the past, it didn't work, so I did not try it in there.
I have attached the file with my post if anyone else would like to try it out.
Hmmmm..... Never mind my computer is not allowing me to upload the file, I will do it in an hour or two with my phone.

Here it is... Credit goes to the creator of virusROM - XxXViRuSXxX (or whoever created the boot animation for his ROM).
Rename to bootanimation.zip and copy to /data/local/ (for me it did not work in /system/media/ where I usually put it, but try it in either one).

Poll [ROM][Beta2][20.05.2011] Gingerbread 2.3.3 with HTC Sense

Hey,
in order to check if the bootloops with ogo2s rom are really a hboot problem I've decided to open up this poll.
If you have bootloops after installing b2 please select your hboot version and vote for it.
If you don't experience any bootloops with this rom, don't vote for anything.
thanks
hboot 1.01 S-ON
i have bootloops
I could be s-off????
I was impressed too, when I read the following:
You can S-OFF first, then upgrade to HBOOT 1+, so HBOOT 1+ S-OFF should be an option.
I didn't know that either, so if you're on 1.01 s-on, there is no way of to s-off atm.
unusual. I always installed all the roms I wanted. because this rom no? I hope someone resolve this
and we can't s- off Hboot 1.0? because alpharave didn't support this
there is no way to s-off hboot 1.01 yet.
Does anyone know how to remove the /data folder from the ROM? Try it and see if it still bootloops.
How come there's THREE polls all for the same thing? I know one didn't have all the correct options, but 2 are the same!
How to fix!!!
put the data/apps to system/app and remove data = no bootlops

I was a little bit fast in setting up the poll. I aksed the mod to delete the wrong ones and they were different from this one.
Ya, it worked for me to. Dont delete the files from the data folder. If you delete the folder the rom goes in a bootloop, you have to copy them into /system/data.

And does someone know if its possible to overclock.the rom up to 864MhZ? Without getting a bootloop?
And can i set the CPU speed with CPU Mastert?

I also experience bootloops with H-BOOT 1.000 S-ON.
I would try to downgrade my H-BOOT, but it is currently not supported.

Open the Rom with 7zip, move the files in the /data folder to your desktop. Then move them to /system/app and delete the /data folder afterwards
Because 7zip can add the files without unzipping you don't need to resign the Rom.
Also works with WinRAR.

BLACK bootanimation

The first thing I wanted to do after I root my Desire was to change the boot animation from 'screaming' white to black.
Since a few friends begged me to put them somewhere that is always available, I decided to do here
So for those who want the original, but black HTC boot, down and shotdown animation they are free to take it from here
P.S. I added the splash screen, if someone wants to
Boot animation for HTC Sensation is here.
Ooh, looks nice, I'll have a go at that thank you - much easier on the eyes!
This is exactly what I was looking for
Thank you very much

Haha! I made this exact same boot splash1 for my phone! Took a black background, added the Green HTC and used an inverted "Quietly Brilliant" image!
I tried to have my own down animation wherein it had the quietly brilliant visible which then slowly faded away but it refused to work

I assume we can simply replace the zips found in system/resource/customise. Where does the shutdown.zip live though?

Yes. Simply replace the existing file with this.
Every developer puts the animation to another place
Shotdown animation is just for froyo rom because gingerbread has only boot & down animation.
And these are made even while the froyo was topical

Here, your downanimation.zip now works. Checked.
Don't forget to check permition after copying. (rw-r--r--).
Good luck
Thanks, but, how do I check permissions? I'm not that adept with Linux, so I'm very new to the adb shell.
Also, I threw this into /data/local/ where I think the downanimations and such should be (I think they start in system/customize/resource/ and then get moved on install) but it still didn't work. I'm going to try the resource folder and see where that gets me, but it could be that I didn't manually change permissions. I can't see my data/local/ folder in ASTRO.

I'm S-OFF'd using RCMixS (Robocik) v2.0 using this mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110921 which is just the stock Robocik ROM with D2EXT. I didn't want any of the test unstable stuff.
It's the stock hboot version and I used the stock hboot when I S-OFF'd.
I've upped downanimations before and it worked without changing permissions. Also, I've tried just opening the ROM .rar file and added them to that (replacing the ones already there) then repacking the rar and flashing but that sometimes doesn't like to work. Is there some process to follow when repacking a ROM?
I think that error is the only thing stopping me from changing ROM's to how I like them to be fair.
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Thank you

Try with Root Explorer or estrong file manager.
Boot & down animations are in /data/local or /system/customize/resource. It depends on the developer. But you must see a files. Root explorer shows that even if the file on that location is real or just simlink.
After copying the file with Root Explorer to the location, by clicking on the file, you get a menu. Select permission and set permission (rw-r--r--) for downanimation.zip
It must work.
I put my boot & downanimations and other essential items are usually put the zip before the flash
nice. i think they will need a matching splash to go with
Thanks for this, can you use root explorer to add these?

Yes, you can.

It's ok, ADB worked well. The animation only works on shutdown, not reboot. So it was just my bad!
Not sure why ASTRO can't see inside the the data/local/ folder, but it sees the rest of the root file system. Strange, but ADB push worked initially!
Thanks.....
Always on the hunt for nice(r) boot/down screens....

here is a screen shot:
file:
I have successfully pushed the bootanimation.zip to the /system/media folder and this runs well on an Oxygen ROM (2.16) however it is far too quick, it gets the the final image with "Memory Alpha Online" and then almost instantly goes black for a few seconds before displaying the lockscreen. Also, the associated sound file does not seem to play. How would I go about fixing these two issues? Or does anyone have a fix already implemented I could simply overwrite?

I think the ROM manager uses an 'old' CWM 2.5.0.7 as a 'fake flash'. This CWM is able to process the 'old' scripting.
The best thing is, you don't loose your original CWM.
It's just like using the old CWM temporarely.
Go for it and please report back.
Cheers
Dirk
Yes the fake flash with rom manager does indeed work in terms of it will push the files to the system partition. Although it depends which rom you are using as it might push it to somewhere that doesn't get read. This can just as easily be done with es file explorer however.
Is anyone able to tell me how to extend the animation? Is it literally just a case of cloning the files and renaming the sequence and rezipping?

MIUI Bootanimation and bootaudio

Hello, does anyone know where to find MIUI Multilingual's bootanimation and bootaudio, and the .xml file so i can edit them?
In system/media there is bootanimation.zip and bootaudio.mp3. If you want to edit the bootanimation look at desc.txt.
Thank you, however it seems that my phone still uses the IDEOS logo as bootanimation, and that one is located in "pink-screen" mode, is it okay to delete it?
You mean the splashscreen? I believe that is located in the kernel, and not easy to edit.

Hmm, it didn't work, and i even tried replacing the bootanimation.zip in cust/Dialect/SE/media (which is where i go when i go into pinkscreen-mode) with the MIUI one, still nothing.
Sorry, I see no reason why it won't work.. You can try to delete the whole cust folder (in pink screen), it that don't work preform a full wipe.
