Galaxy S II in India - shipped!!

Hi guys,
The availability and pricing in India for S II was announced and put up simultaneously for pre-order in collaboration with Samsung India on letsbuy.com on the 25th of May with ETA as 9th June.
While I was late to the party by around 10hrs, I placed the order straightway without a moment's delay. The offer was a great bargain as well, compared to the prices around the world. This is what I got:
Samsung Galaxy S II (with NFC chip confirmed!!)
MHL Adapter
Car Charger
Official Flip Case
Molife Fit to use case (??)
Screen Protector
And all of the above for just $725 or Rs32,830 in Indian currency!!!
But what has me jumping up and down right now with joy is that I just received an email from the letsbuy.com guys stating that my order has been shipped, tracking info et all...!! Should be on the doorstep by Monday morning... the wait is just killing me now.
So how many guys on the same boat as me?

Nopes, not a mistake. It's just that they now have more orders than the units they are going to receive.
The guys who were the first to pre-order had the Desktop Dock as a free gift along with the MHL adapter, Car Charger and Screen Protector. The response was obviously overwhelming and the pre-order page was put down and came up again after a few hrs. That is when I came to know about the pre-order and booked one for myself. The Dock had been removed though and replaced with a Molife Case.
The ETA was 9th June and now obviously the orders have been exhausted again and the ETA has been changed to a tentative 2nd week of June and the car charger has been replaced with a bluetooth headset.
So basically, not a mistake on their part. Gotta wait till Monday and see what comes in the parcel !!

I too have got an SMS and Email along with Tracking nos.
I hope they actually send the phone. Can't wait for Monday to come

Anyone was able to track their Docket No on Bluedart website?

Looks like you haven't been following all the latest action. There apparently is not much that can be done, the flaw is in the hardware and the design.
It's been confirmed that there won't be Voodoo for the GS2

According to other threads on this forums, this is supposedly a fake and not a genuine item. The 'S' in the original has a different font... chances are they do come out of the same factory though and are of identical quality.
And yeah... it's just a voucher on the way with at least another two weeks wait. Major bummer!!

Wow that's an even better deal than when Staples had their $100 off coupon. The $199 Kindle Fire is going to beat up the prices on every tablet.

I'm still convinced the TF 2 isn't that near by. If anything, this sale is a response to the kindle fire.
Why do I think this? Because I heard about the TF a whole year before it finally came out. And back then the rumor was the TF would arrive any day now. Yup, any minute, actually. Well, that any day turned into a whole year.
I'm just not convinced it would take them less than 5 months between the time the tegra 3 is released and when asus could ship in volume devices equipped with the tegra 3.

I'm a little bitter at Nvidia as well for crying wolf too, but Tegra 2 was there first Android chip. There were a few non-honeycomb tablets that came out before Zoom (Elocity A7 & ViewSonic). I think Nvidia was late on hardware and blundered on the Tegra 2 by not being ready for honeycomb. I think they were originally targeting 2.2. Hopefully, they have learned from both mistakes.
I'm on the sidelines for the moment. My wife thinks she wants some sort of tablet and the Fire is an option. There are a ton of good looking gingerbread tablets coming soon (I'm assuming fire is gingerbread under the covers as well) in $200ish. I'm liking the Lenovo A7 from a specs standpoint. The Arnova G2 10" might be nice too.
Anyway, benchmarks from the TF201 have been seen. So it exists in some form.

I have a Nook Color running CM7 nightlies.
I ordered a Transformer from Target when they had them for $399 but my order 'got lost in the system', sigh.
I saw this deal and jumped on it.
I doubt that Target will have any inventory to even honor my order. They issued a UPS tracking label but UPS has yet to receive the package and it has been several days. They are sold out so I doubt I ever get that one hence the order with Newegg.
I can't wait to get my hands on this device.

I wonder if we will be able to root this one?

Yes, and it's a valid point. I'm sure Asus has figured it out that $550 for the Transformer+keyboard dock is hard to justify when they're selling the Slider for $479. Plus, we know that Asus must be making some nice margins with the dock at $149. Couple that with the inevitable decrease in component costs for the TF, and suddenly it's probably quite feasible for Asus to drop the price for both and still make a decent margin.

I picked up this deal today. The gf wanted a tablet for school, so I dug around a bit and almost bought it on Amazon for $400 without the dock.

I wonder if all of the new Asus TF have locked bootloader which prevents them from rooting?
If I can't root, it is deal broker for me, and I am not sure if Newegg will take it back or not?

Goddamn, this is frickin' awesome (but heartbreaking..). Anyway, if I didn't have one, I'd totally buy this. I don't think root capability would affect my decision, as the stock version is pretty awesome already. Pre-Netflix, I would have needed the root, but now.. >_>

I was afraid of this, but I went ahead and bought it because it's such a great deal. If anything, you can resell the TF and dock on ebay and still come out good. I think I'll be happy with the stock ROM for now anyways.
But, newegg, by some miracle, could have some older stock of the TF and some of us could get lucky...Here's to wishful thinking

Just because it's not rootable now, doesn't mean it won't be rootable later. But it could take a long time.

I kind of thought the sale might have to do with demand for the dock. The TFs have been relatively hard to find, but New egg's stock indicator was showing 9999+ of the dock last night.
Anyway, this deal was a perfect storm for me. I've been shopping around for a while, waiting to see what was coming out and at what price points. Skype was a big want for me, and having heard it works reasonably well with the new update, and then finding the free keyboard deal put me over the top.

Hi XDA,
I'm currently staying in Manhattan for another 3 weeks before returning back to New Zealand and wondering if any stores could be expected to repeat the Black Friday (or was it Cyber Monday?) sale price ($299?) for the Eee Pad? Or any tablet for that matter? Is this the done this time of year or have I missed out?

January time there will be some for sure, with the release of the Prime.

I picked mine up from Futureshop for $299 on Black Friday.... Looked around today hoping it might be the same price for one for my wife, but nothing... Prime is still listed as pre-order here (Canada) (vs 'sold out') so it looks like they have no reason to drop the price until the Prime comes out. The salesman actually told me to wait... considering they are usually pushy and commission-driven I'll take that as a sign. Either way $299 seems to be the 'target' price for now...

at least they have a good return policy... if it goes on sale in the next little while you can always get the difference... I actually bought two iconias and the transformer at the same time as they were constantly running out of stock. I test drove them all and keep kept checking for sales but because of GPS issues with the iconias I kept the transformer instead (though I did like the build and connectivity of the Acer better. aside from the better screen I also find the transformer to be slightly smoother as well.)
Now running revolver and blades3....
Whatever... enjoy your new transformer!

This is why this forum is full of posts by people who bought a TF from a major retailer only to find that it had been modded or otherwise played with and now doesn't work properly. You would be the first to flaming the store that sold you a second hand item.

The only thing i did was install GPS test (a main concern for me) compare screens and build quality, and smoothness... made my choice, then factory reset, and return...
I`m kinda new to all this stuff but I'm sure thatsnot a big deal? I also did a factory reset before i brought it back....

If your new at this stuff, then do your homework here before you buy. Might save you some headaches as well as factory reset may not clear all personal data.

dudes, that's withing policy that they have written. he did nothing wrong moral, legal, or mischievous. I ts true, due homework always when buying anything that costs so much.. Unfortunately alot of stores don't have real or working display models. on the other hand, and it's always a person ora group that ruins it for the rest of us. just a opinion. happy holidays to you and your families

What's the law about selling a used item as new in the US? Just curious...
Aren't the returns supposed to be returned back to the manufacturer to get refurbished and sold as such?

It's a great tablet, I had one for a week - but - mine had an issue with updates (it wouldn't update). Speculation points at this being due to having no serial number in the ROM. I returned it yesterday. Lesson - make sure you can return it, or, be prepared to send it back to ASUS in case your's has this issue.
BTW - 2 online requests to ASUS over a week ago still go unanswered. Not impressed with their support on this.

I've had better luck with their pc components.

I've ordered one and I've got acknowledge but no shipping yet. I'm waiting for e-mail with tracking number. Wish me a luck.

Website with CHEAP Asus Tablets For Sale

So I stumbled across this site and it has a bunch of different tablets for sale at greatly discounted prices. The site claims they are brand new factory sealed.
But it all just seems so sketchy to me. They haven't responded to my e-mail so I don't know. They do have a phone number listed but I haven't called them. Is this too good to be true?

Okay, so I got a response about 2 minutes ago from the company. After asking them why the prices of their tablets are so cheap, here is the response I received via email:
"We are running a sitewide sale till the end of July after that the prices will be going back up. If you have any other questions please let us know.

I'm not really sure what to say to them now. Is there something I could ask for to prove their legitimacy?

Paypal certification or something of the like, cite the WhoIs and that they're new, and that you'd just like some consumer security.

Consumer security, I like that phrase. And I don't believe they were set up with PayPal when I put something in my shopping cart and pretended to checkout. Thanks again, ToD. I'll wait for a reply.

They could have not responded at all or barely spoken English. Both of those things would have been a lot more suspicious.
Tough crowd over here in the TF forums. I'm just trying to look for a good deal on a new device.

Did you at least use a generated temp credit card number with exact fixed amount? I hope your card company is tolerant of you disputing 1ks of dollars over the next months and you enjoy changing card numbers.
Was the transaction even encrypted?
Here's hoping they just charge you for a tablet they never ship.

Checked with my charge card, 3 months to contest and they guarantee it will be reversed.
