Does anyone know if this forum (nexus s) is going to intergate the ns4g or will it get its own? The only reason I ask is that the intercept forum got kind of confusing with the sprint/virgin models when I had it. On the epic now and waiting for the ns4g to hit the store.

i requested that a ns4g forum be made a while ago. why do i think we should seperate? its nothing against the nexus s owners.. its just ive learned in my short time on earth there would be many guys on sprint flashing gsm radios and firmware from the 900 over versions of the i9000...
Agreed!!! More support less confusion. Who do I (we soon tobe ns4g owners) need to appeal to? Or what is needed for it to happen?

+1!
I speak from experience when I was a noob. Flashed a euro HTC Leo radio onto a US HTC HD2 and fried it. I admit that I didn't do enough research at the time, but it would have helped a great deal if the site had separated the two versions of the phone into their own sections.

Currently I have the Samsung Galaxy S i9000 8GB international, unlocked. The problem is that I am at Tmobile and I can not use the 3G network because of difference in frequencies in the international edition (AWS / 1700Mhz issue).
So I checked the prices of the plans at http://www.boostmobilestore.com and I think it is pretty good. I am staying at Boston and know that the coverage is pretty good.
So I am thinking of selling my phone and buying the Epic 4G. Do you think it is a wise choice? What differences would I face by switching?
In the community of i9000 there are a lot of FroYo firmwares and mods, we have the lag issue but plenty plenty of lag fixes too. The only maybe I will need is Swype in Greek that I suppose it is to install it from another FroYo version...at least in i9000 it was possible.
The epic is the i9000 with a keyboard and gimped memory with no official froyo

Hahha...The i9000 I have flashed it, many many times, so I am not worried of bricking the phone. The first thing I will check is to see if download mode is there, and if it is no problems...
But you know it is not a good thing to have this nice device on EDGE (or 2G)... I am paying also $60 per month for 500 minutes...
Why not have for $50 unlimited plus 4G?

All samsung will say is that they are doing some additional testing to make sure there will be no problems. They won't give a time line for any US carrier.

No, please search next time. There is already a thread discussing froyo for Epic 4G

just want to let you guys know my cousin and i went in to a t mobile store to speak to a rep about the vibrant 4g. we wanted to know if it would be worth exchanging our old vibrant for the new ones. he stated that there is not a lot of hard ward difference was just the FFC and that's it. the software change only being froyo. he said if it were him he wouldn't switch. He also said the official update for froyo was actually released through kies about 10 days ago. i wasn't aware of this just though i would share.

The differences b/w the two include:
4G radio in SGS 4G
16GB internal SD card on the Vibrant
FFC on SGS 4G
2.2.1 on SGS 4G from the get go
SGS 4G comes with Inception movie as a multimedia feature on included 16GB external SD card.

Yea, that's bad. Basically it boils down to this scenario:
Google: Sure you can have ICS on ____ device
CDMA carrier Sprint/Verizon: Well, we'd like over our skin on ICS
Google: We'd like to keep it stock Google
Carriers: We want the skin...
Google: No [and cue that article]
Says its based on the software to make it 'fully functional' Because CDMA device needs carrier binaries to make them work.
There is no way in hell US carriers will open up their binary drivers. This just hurts users on Verizon/Sprint. Does this mean the next Nexus will be GSM only?

Who said it was Sprint only? It ranges to all CDMA made phones not one specific CDMA carrier.
My understanding is that this is Google only.
It has to do with the trying to keep Android compliant with the GPL, and the companies making the CDMA radios are making it difficult so Google pulled out. It doesn't mean no more Android phones on Sprint or Verizon (that would be a bit silly) but it does mean no more Nexus phones on CDMA. It could also mean Motorola will be pulling out of the CDMA market as well.
Then again, this could all be a plan by Google to force the companies to release the drivers. It wouldn't be the first time Google has played hardball with companies. If Google and Motorola both leave, this puts pressure on Sprint and Verizon to push the manufacturers to release the drivers as it leaves them at a severe disadvantage compared to GSM carriers. It's good in a way, but could have some bad consequences down the road if it backfires.
It's nothing to really worry about guys if i can find the article I'll post it but Google came back and clarified why they did it exactly and it was to do with how CDMA phones have certain files stored for them and it caused an issue with compiling from AOSP and all. They still are pushing straight updates to cdma nexus phones as usual too.
Edit: here's one part for the mean time...

Samsung's upcoming flagship handset, now with an official name, the Samsung Galaxy S III, has finally made its debut here in the chilly English capital." -CNET

I wish I could take so principled a stand (against HTC), cuz I agree wholeheartedly. That said, my Evo is feeling pretty old, and I think it's getting tired. And who knows how long til this years nexus (damn, what if HTC made it, how awesome would that be?!) Probably octoberish, maybe ?
With gsIII specs released today, it didn't seem all too impressive. Maybe, hopefully, that will cause more devs to stay with HTC, more of them to focus on S-off. I know xhausx has vowed to work on it, that's def encouraging.

Htc lost the bid Samsung has a standing agreement with Google to be the sole producer of nexus for a while coming, because Google doesn't like htcs bull**** anymore than we do HTC said the nexus would ship locked and Google withdrew their contract after Sammy promised to not lock down any of their handsets based on android , plus lte doesn't hit my area til phase 2 rollout this fall so I'm in no hurry to get a new device til I have Lte available
Edit: my dads company has over 20k employees nationwide, none of which will receive an HTC device on company provided accounts I talked their corporate account rep into denying HTC upgrades on buisness lines unless the employee pays for it out of pocket

I think you're partially correct and partially incorrect. If my understanding is correct, they have a bootloader unlock, but it only partially unlocks it, making things still difficult for devs to work with. They didn't straight-up lie, but they told a half truth I guess.
