So before I have searched high and low for an answer to this question and can not find one on any website. There is a rom or theme whatever you want to call if of windows phone 7 that is out for the HTC HD2. My friend has it on his and i have got to say wow, Android has got something to compete with. But does anyone know of or if someone is working on this for the DROID X??? Thanks. Yes i know about the themes on the market place but i am looking for ZUNE and XBOX LIVE to be more specific.
The hd2 runs windows phone 7 operating system. I have heard of Android and windows being able to work on the Evo, but unfortunately with the locked bootloader of the X there is no way that we will see this dual boot. Therefore you cannot get xbox or zune on the android.

I had two hd2 was running windows 7 as a,primary. the way that W7 formats the SD card it is really a single boot system. yes it could becrun in a duel boot configuration with numerous SD card partitions buy was mainly setcto because SINGLE OS. I liked it very much and would likecto have it as an option here but honestly I kept coming back to Droid. if I was to to go with WP7 I would just buy a WP7 device. the cam on the hd2 running WP7 was always junk

Has anyone heard if, or tried for that matter to run, android on WP7 phones? I am fairly new to windows phones, but heard that they all could run android. Now that I am thinking about this, I have only seen it run on HTC devices. I am thinking of getting the focus tomorrow OR getting a telstra HD2, on which I know android works.
Why not just buy a new phone that already comes with Android? The DesireHD or something like that?
I want a phone with both, You know that 2 birds one stone thingy
Ah right
HTC HD2 is probably such a phone to support 2 versions of Windows OS as well as Android.
Windows phone 7 devices cannot run android yet, Windows mobile quite a few devices will have android ports.
Focus is windows phone 7, HD2 is Windows mobile 6.5
(there is a huge difference between windows phone and windows mobile)
I've read about HD2 performance since it was released, but now it seems that it is getting even better, with full android support and soon WM7, but is it true?
I want to change my X1 and was nearly going to get a Desire because i seem to like android, but i found that HD2 might support WM7 in the near future, and i want to have it too.
but is having HD2 and running on it other OS (Like android) a good choice for everyday use or just for hackers who like to push the device to its limits?
I'd say its more for people who like to mod there phones. It takes a lot of work and research to get android running well.... and it will probably never run as well as you can get a native android phone running. If you just want to run android and want a phone that will easily work, get an android phone. If you want to use winmo and android, and have the time, patience, and willingness to hack and play around with your phone until it works the way you want, then the hd2 is perfect.

i don't know, i personally like my HD2 with android and ubuntu. aside from having to load a winmo rom so voice and sound would work correctly, the whole process following the FAQ was less than 1hr. i'm not saying there aren't risks, but i do like the reward.
I do little modding on devices I use (computers, routers, mobile phones), and with my X1 i did many experiments and used many ROMs just to get the functionality i want, and still i am not very satisfied with it.
Currently i am trying the X1 version of android, which is quite fast and stable, but there is no support for the camera, wifi is not always working, and it is a huge battery eater (not more than 2-3 hours). but i liked the interface, can be changed easily, many apps in the app store, that's why i wanted an android.
If i see that HD2 can use a Desire HD rom in a native mode, then HD2 is it
What do you mean by using a desire HD rom in a native mode? The hd2 will never be a native android device and you can't flash android phone roms directly to the hd2. It has very good android port... probably one of the best... but it will always be a port. If you don't want to put the time in to do research and mod it the way you want, then the hd2 may not be for you. Expect to come across problems that will take time to research and find workarounds for. There will be a lot of trial and error to get it to run even close to as well as a native android phone will work out of the box.

HD2 The Best !
I personally like my HD2 very much ! It's a really high-end device which can be modded as you wish... and I think that the HD2 is even the most customizable phone ever created on market... So I really.. recommend you the HD2, if you will dislike Windows Mobile, this is not a problem at all.. I also dislike it xD... because I've realised that Android is the future... but .. after some Android use & gaming, I was really feeled like.. I wanted to return back to WM.. so I can easily do it.. or even change to another OS like Ubuntu and try it whenever I want.. but if you buy an Android Phone.. you will not have such a customizable OS feature at all .. you will stay locked only on Android... so .. that's why I really like the HD2... and btw.. very soon will appear a NAND Version of Android .. or smth. like this which will allow you to wipe your Windows Mobile from your HD2... and you'll stay only on Android if you like so... and if you'll want to return back to the WM.. just simple .. you will install an Official HD2 ROM.. and you'll have the WM back.. ... so .. it's up to you to decide which phone you take.. but I highly recommend you the HD2 !

Be careful what you do with your hd2, if you really know what your doing you would always leave a windows mobile build as the resident rom, if windows wasn't to boot first, android would run but would be a service and driver nightmare and would need a bigger rom space on the hd2 to add many recovery sectors to not brick the hd2, the hd2 wasn't intended for resident android use, windows is still the master os at booting into things n shuttin down quick (bluescreen. lol) anyhow, android works great and fast enuff on my hd2 winmo 6.5.x custom rom (spl3) running android 2.2.1 dl desireZ v3.4finalz (webkit 3.1). I come from the dos and basic unix/bsd times, aah the times when DOS Shell with a booted mouse driver using a floppy was great to browse file systems quick n boot many things, cut copy paste ect, and bad because would forget vital entries then back to installing 9 o so floppies again, windows 3.1 saved us all for a long time as regards to media sound and streaming techniques. i went off topic, don't get a hd2 if you don't love windows mobile 2003se and above, if you really educate yourself with more knowledge of mobile devices and framework you would understand that windows mobile is very stable and responsive if you dnt load crap onto your phones memory and create trouble folders especially whilst using a corrupt windows pc os when transferring over to phone storage or mem card, not to mention not formatting the mem card the proper way!! good luck, the hd2 is still holding a little price, i say get it if you like winmobile, you may never be able to do a good custom flash on your hd2 and could brick it if your laptop cuts out half way through, i say use a pc when flashing hard-spl3, custom rom and radio to you hd2. research very good before doing anything with it ok. bless

Um not trying to be a butt hole here but have you not checked out the NAND Andriod ROMs? They seem to be running pretty good. I have talked to plenty of people that use a NAND Andriod ROM as their day to day OS on their HD2.

This is very good advice. Windows Mobile is not your average users OS. All of what you said above is great advice.
nand on hd2 is way better than on a mid level Android device.
This thread is from 4 months ago... no reason to revive it.
is it possible to dual boot the nexus s?
its currently on 2.3.3 and i'm wanting to be able to boot it into windows 7 if its possible?
i'm a newbie to all this so thats why i'm asking
Dual booting might in theory be possible but has not been done.
Installing windows 7 is absolutely impossible. It needs too much hard drive space and doesn't work on the chipset architecture of the Nexus S.

lol. windows on an android?
eh
no thanks.
you might want to look into an option like.
pc on remote.
or something.
dualbooting 2 difrent rom's on the other hand seems really intresting.though would be a mess with my kernel.
Dual booting different ROMs has been done on other phones, would love to see this on the NS.

yes, my friend has the htc hd2 and has gingerbread running but can then powerdown the phone and boot into windows 7 system so he can play on xbox live.
Just wanted to know as to whether to experiment with both OS's.
works fine running both of them and he hasn,t had any problems yet.
takes few mins to boot up into win 7 but it's pretty fab.

Well, that's obviously WP7, not Windows 7.
HD2 comes with WP7 as stock OS, but developers has ported Android to the phone. As I said earlier, dual booting has been done on other phones, in thos case HD2.
WP7 will most likely not see a port to the NS, with the simple reason that Android is superior, and the effort of porting a mediocre OS just isn't worth it.
We might see dual booting though, if we're fortunate enough to have a dev willing to do it for us.

How about dual booting ubuntu?
Hi there,
after a lot of searching.... Is there any way (rom) to run Windows Mobile 7 (mango) on my Desire HD?
Greetings.
I think a lot of the question will be why? Everything wmobile does...android does better? Ur chiice though obviously!

Hi,
i like the style of wm7
You probably mean Windows Phone 7.
There are a few threads asking the same thing I'm afraid. The news isn't as optimistic as one would expect here at XDA.
WP7 is a lot more complicated and difficult..
In the meantime - put Launcher 7 on your Desire HD.
Then you should sell your device and switch to a native WP7.
I have a HD2, and though there is a version of WP7 for it, it has it's issues.
1st, there are two loaders for the HD2, MagLDR, and cLK. MagLdr is the original one, it boots WM6.5, Android, and Wp7. It's nowhere near the normal Android loaders.
cLK is a more similar aproach to a android loader (meaning, you can in android tell it to reboot to recovery, and it will do so, MagLDR cannot do that).
Yet, here are the HD2 problems:
Touchscreen, dual touch is very buggy.
Battery, it sucks
And this one is true to every WP7. It encrypts the SDcard with a password. The only way to get it back, is with a Nokia. Otherwise, no computer or device will read them.
(WP7 was not made to have removable storage. To be honest, there are only 2 devices with a removable storage, HD2, and a Samsung one).
Also... it's a MAJOR PITA!
NAHHHH
Dude, I have been with WP7 n it jus SUCKS!!!
i thing the issue here is that fact that people want to know if we can run more than android on them.
look at the hd2 wm6.5,android,meego,linux and osx.... ok maybe not the last one
dont forget its a developers site we are here to push the handset past htc`s limit .
No, is the answer your looking for.
Windows Phone 7 is Closed Source & a Proprietary OS.
To run it on any device not licensed by Microsoft would render it Warez.
Sorry there is no legal way to have it for the Desire HD.
Thread Closed.
HD2. I've just brought my friends one for £10 pounds and I am so happy to have one in my hands again as I knew what it could do but he didn't lol what I wanna know is what direction do I go down. 6.5 os android or WM7???

Android for sure. You can run one Android rom from nand, several others from sd, and even boot Ubuntu from your nand rom.
Plus you can back up all your Android stuff to your computer and use Windows Mobile if you want, or even use WM and still run Android from your sd card, having the best of both worlds.
There's also Widows Phone 7, but IMO it's pretty lame and will make it pretty tough to switch back to WM6.5 or Android because it changes your sd card and you'd have to switch it back.
I would go WM6.5.5.x Energy & run an Android from ROM. WP7 is far more trouble than it is worth ...
