Custom roms won't boot.. :/ - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Basically, the original Leo rom released by Cotulla/DFT works perfectly fine, but as soon as I try other custom roms, none of them will boot. The screen is just stuck at the green HTC logo, this is directly after the main flash of the roms as well. I can't even get to the setup screen for WP7. I've left it there waiting for ages (upto an hour now) for each rom and still the same.
Just curious if anyone else has had this problem? The HSPL, Radio, SD card etc are fine. I've done a task29 as well. I don't have Android installed either. Has me baffled that I can boot the original rom but not others.
Any help would be appreciated! Using MAGLDR 1.3 btw. (I've reflashed it since I used task29 earlier).

We have 1 simple solution
1. Perform task29
2. Flash any WM 6.5 ROM [Cooked ROM will do, stock ROM not necessary]
3. Flash MAGLDR 1.13
4. Flash WP7 ROM
Eureka your phone will have WP7

I've done that though? And as I said, the original LEO Rom from DFT works perfectly fine, it's only custom ones which do this.

[Q] Freeze at HTC logo

Hey,
I installed a htc nand android desire rom on my hd2, normally it always works,
but after this installation it freeze s on the HTC logo.
I did:
1 Task29
2 reinstal MAGDLR 1.13
3 installed CWR 400 MBytes
4 Copied the data2sd zip files to the SD
5 Flashed the rom
it's http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=967353 this rom.
i tried whipe the cache and installing again but it has the same result ,
what can i do to fix it?
im a newbie and don't know much, but ill try to help, have you tried upgrading the radio? also, maybe that exact rom can't run on your phone, for whatever reason, have you tried any other roms? because if it does that to other roms, im pretty sure you'll have to send it in for a hardware issue.
do you have the radio 2.15.xx.x?
and do you have HSPL 2.08?

Trying to install winmo again but rebooting.

So I tried to install Nandroid on my phone but I realized I needed to put the microsd chip in a card reader in order to upload the nandroid install files on there so I decided to reinstall winmo again.
However I've tried hspl 2.08, hspl 3.08(I think thats the version number) and then reinstalling energy rom with the compatible radios. Once the installation finishes the phone just keeps on rebooting after it shows the numbers on the bottom left of the screen.
Right now I have no idea what to do.
Sorry guys. I figured out that I actually have to shut off my phone and then hold down the volume down button to boot it in to the bootloader and then install the energy rom for it to work correctly.
Check your battery pins to see if one may be bent slightly.
Edit: Just read second second post, so disregaurd my post.
Ok so that was just luck or something.
I got android installed on my device and didn't like that rom so I tried to switch to another one.
1. I went in to magldr and went to AD recovery and just chose the new rom zip and installed it.
2. I didn't like this second rom so I tried to just install another rom using the same method in number 1.
3. The phone just kept on resetting and not booting in to the rom. I used task 29 to wipe out the rom.
4. I installed magldr again and then went in to usb flasher and installed CWM.
5. Phone reboots after CWM install and I go to AD recovery. The phone seems to load CWM. it goes until "go go go" is displayed and then reboots.
6. I tried to install winmo energy rom again but it just keeps rebooting after it shows the energy splash screen.
What can I be doing wrong?
Ok update on what I did so far.
1. I've formatted my SD card thinking it might help but it didn't work.
2. I ran task 29 and installed HSPL 3.03 and installed the stock TMOUS rom and it didn't work. It just got to the splash screen and rebooted.
3. I tried to reinstall energy rom but again it does the same thing as TOMUS rom.

It seems you have done in accordance with the normal procedures
Maybe it was just a bad flashing.
Maybe you want to try flashing Stock ROM but not with HSPL 3.03.
As I know, for Android you need HSPL 2.08.
Cheers...

Should I flash the stock rom with HSPL 2.08 or just SPL?
edit:
I also forgot to note that the phone only stays on when I plug it in.. I can't unplug it and try to turn the phone on.. it just won't come on.

I would try to flash stock rom and start from the begining. HSPL, Task 29, Radio 2.15.50, MGDLR, WP7. Sometimes if you come straight from Android or WM6.5 it may not boot correctly.

[Q] How to wipe kerenl data on my HD2?????????

So, Im using a sense 3.5 ROM and out of the box it and issues with charging. I started flashing different kernels to see if that would fix my problem. Now no matter what ROM im using, my phone will not charge. The red light comes one the phone indicting that my phones plugged up, but i get no charge. Can someone tell me if there's a zip file out there that can wipe all data installed by kernels?
Im running out of oppositions here............. PLEASE HELP!!!!! Thanks
Magldr, right?
Just reflash with stock winmo (leoimg.nbh to sdcard and bootloader), hspl, radio, and just use clk instead of magldr.
In my opinion this (reflash all) is the fastest way to fix your HD2.
You have to do a full wipe before installing the new ROM. It is probably a hardware issue in your side because there are no 3.5 ROM's on this forum that have issues with charging.
thank u

I am using mag. I've never used clk. I always do a fresh install when I flash a Rom. Task29, etc. I will do what u said and see if that works. Thanks for your help. My signature is the Rom I'm using.

sorry to tell you but there are many people haveing chargeing issues
with 3.5 roms
Flash wm6.5 stock image, flash magldr, flash recovery/system partitions, flash rom
(no task29)
then should solve problem.
Task 29 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5848003&postcount=19, then flash your radio followed by magldr or clk then CWM.
You can try clearing Dalvik cache and flash a new kernel in CWM recovery menu.

Just working on my 10post....

Every Android ROM stuck in bootscreen

Hi there,
I haven't flashed a new Android ROM in a while on my good old HD2.
Things got changed...
I have magldr installed, and I also just installed CWM and seems to work fine too.
And I partitioned my SD card with a 1GB ext4 partition.
When I flashed a ROM in CWM, and I want to boot it, it keeps being stuck in the bootscreen of the ROM after magldr loaded it.
And yes, I have been waiting like 30 minutes, because I know the first boot takes a while, but not 30 minutes...
I have this issue with every Android ROM, and I am wondering what the problem could be, because I'm already struggling with this for lots of hours, but still haven't find any solution.
Windows Phone 7 via DAF.exe seems to work fine though, so my guess it that there is something wrong in partitions? but I am not sure at all.
I hope anyone could help me, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

Well I am not sure about that actually :O
I also tried a magldr partition of 445MB.
And I used the Recovery_400M.
But CWM looks to work fine.
I tried again.
Want to flash this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275119
I made a 1GB ext4 partition before.
With HD2 ToolKit I made a 175MB System partition, and a 8MB cache size.
Guess what?
It seems that it's booting now
Still waiting till it's fully booted, but I'll keep you updated.
Thanks kylew1212, you made me understand the 5/175/8 formats.
By knowing this I actually succeeded now

I installed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898913
You can do it yourself, open the recovery folder, right klick on flash.cfg, open with editor. Now you can change the values of "boot yboot", "system ya", "cache ya" how it is on the Discription for the rom you would to flash. Now you must save it.
That´s all !!

But for what is this?
Because I got the ROM fully working now with the way I described before.
I also get stuck on bootscreen with every rom that i flash with CWM.
Until i flashed a new kernel today i didnt have that problem (using ThypooN CM7). When it got stuck i did a task 29 to try and fix it.
Maybe i am missing something, this is what i do using HD2 Toolkit:
task 29
flash 2.15.50.14 radio (at first i didnt do that but i makes no difference)
install MAGLDR
install CWM
flash rom with CWM
I am using a 150/5 patiton for the ROM (recomemded in the OP), i also tried 160/10 but again it doesnt work.
CWM installs the zip normally. When i try to boot the rom it just gets stuck at bootscreen. I tried leaving it for 20 min and it still doesnt work.
I even installed wm6.5 and did the whole process of installing MAGLDR again to see if that helps but the same thing happens.
I also tried using cLK and got stuck again with every rom.
cLK, MAGLDR and CWM all work just fine, that is why i have no idea why the rom gets stuck at bootscreen.
It seems to me that the CWM doesnt install the rom corectly. The only rom that does work is AmeriCan Android becouse i doesnt need CWM.
Is there anything i can do to fix it?
Thanks

I'm not sure what's going on. I've flashed many roms with cwm. Never a problem. However if you think cwm is your problem try another recovery, there are a few more available now. I've started using team win recovery project (twrp)
One other thing. It is not necessary to reflash the radio everytime. Once it is installed it does not uninstall unless you change to a different radio.

I also flashed many roms with CWM and i never had a problem before.
Now i tried twrp with clk (clean install with task 29) and it flashes the rom normally. After i reboot i get the bootscreen, then i should get the boot animation and all i get is a black screen (the backlight is on). Few seconds later the phone vibrates like it booted but the screen is still black. If i restart the phone the same thing happens again.
I guess i'll have to use wp7
Thanks anyway

I finally got it to work
It was the last thing i tried before flashing wp7. In wp7 OP it says that you have to install wm6.5, let it boot and then install MAGLDR. The important thing here is that you dont use task 29.
I installed wm6.5, let it boot, then install MAGLDR and CWM (without task 29) and now it works perfectly
