GPS problem with TMOUS HD2 - HD2 General

The topic for trash

Your phone is trying to connect to the T-Mobile network to get a GPS fix. You need to change your settings for GPS to the APN settings for your carrirer.

Thanks for the answer.
Which settings you are exactly talking about?
I have already changed the APN for my carrier because I could not connect to 3G. And I use 3G without problems.

I think this is hardware problem. I have read that this restarting after iGo Primo launch is because hd2's mainboard.
there is still hope for some wrong settings

I am running complete Android on my phone right now so Occam not dig through my settings to tell you where to look an to be honest I got a pretty good memory but not that good lol. But anyway try looking through your GPS settings, you might have to go to Settings>Menu>All Settmings and then you whole see a little satilite icon maybe it is in there. But as I said I can not recall straight from memory the exact location, sorry. From your picture though that has got to be your problem as the epc.t-mobile.com is a to access the T-Mobile network and you need it to access your network. I know you said you changed your APN settings to get the 3G, bit I am thinking you will have to change something for hour GPS as well. Maybe it is where you changed your APN settings, I am not exactly sure. It could not hurt to go and have a look there again just to see if something is still set to the T-Mobile setting.

[Q] 3G won't activate after APNdroid

I recently got my Galaxy S. To save battery I used APNdroid to dis/enable 3G/2G. However, now I cannot activate 3G anymore (only edge still works).
I've checked under settings to see if 'only use 2G' was activated > not the case.
I reentered the APN settings from scratch > still nothing
Uninstalled APN droid completly > nothing
Did a factory reset > nothing
Anyone has any ideas?
Just a note, APNDroid doesn't work well with SGS.
It never turned the APN back on as should on my device. Had to reboot it.
However if you did a factory reset and it didn't help I dont think APNDroid can screw things up so badly. I know it's a stupid Q but did you double check the APN settings you entered?
Hmm.. not sure what problems might APN cause on your phones but i have no prob at all on my phone with APN.. most of time i have switched to 2G only in options to save battery power.. switching APN on/off by my needs w/o problem.. even if i need to use faster connection everythings works well
btw: my FW is stock JM2
i used another app on market to toggle and when i uninstalled it i couldnt get into the market and couldnt connect to anything google
my wifi and internet are working perfect but google cant establish a connection
so trying to work out how to "establish a data connection"
regards
Also, make sure that you use the correct APN's. Sometimes your carrier (in my case it was O2) use a different APN for PAYG and for POSTPAY.
ok, found the problem, apparantly I didn't have 3G coverage in my area. Today (on other location) it works fine.
Which is weird, since my other cell phone has perfect 3G coverage ... (it's a simple Nokia, maybe it doesn't recognize the difference between 2G and 3G )

Doohhh. They used for private .com and for business .nl. Good Q! Thx!

did anyone try this for the data problem?

I don't know if this was even tried, couldn't find anything while I searched. But if you're on tmobile, they have different data service for windows and android. I was gonna try my friends G2 for the weekend so I called saying I was gonna try a G2 and they switched my data service to the Android data and for 2 days straight I haven't had any problems with dropped data connection. this is a first for me might just be a weird coincidence though.. oh well, just thought I'd let people know.
I traded for my HD2, still getting data drops even though I have an 'android data plan'

You understand that with the data plan you can manually change the apn settings to settings for "other plans" right?
For example, default is epc.tmobile.com, but you can also use wap.voicestream.com and internet2.voicestream.com. There are also others, but these are the more common ones.
APN Settings
Hi folks,
Would you know if these settings apply to UK or are they different. At the momment my APN settings are:
Name: T-Mobile Internet
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
All other fields blank
With these settings my connection keeps dropping. However my wi-fi is perfect so I know internet works.
Thanks guys

[Q] Data connection

I havnt activated the Live services yet but does that stop the data connection. i have singal etc but cannot get onto websites etc. If im connected to wireless then it works fine.
Im on orange and have my APN details all blank wich is what i gather is needed.
My questions is, is there something i havnt done or do you have to activate live services before your data connection will work.
I started using WP7 without Live services, too. But I didn´t face your problem.
Maybe it´s still an APN setting issue.
Am i right in thinking that for Orange UK the APN fields are all blank ?
I may be wrong
I briefly checked a setting info page. It said the name for the APN is orangeinternet, user and password empty.
Ok cool i will try that, i'll give me phone a reboot just to make sure as well.
Hmm ok that didnt work either
I had the same problem tommy but just put orangeinternet in apn name & left the other 2 blank. It worked! like the chap above us said. Thanks!

[Q] 3G won't work

Hey,
Got an HTC HD2 booted to Android with this build http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954030 and now my 3G won't work. Even after reconfiguring my Wireless Network Settings and APNs it still doesn't work, but if i change my phone back to WinMo my 3G works. If I boot it back to Android it wont work
hope you guys can help me out
**EDIT**
Got my phone from US but I live in the Philippines so maybe it has something to do with my Wireless Service Provider?
have you got the correct apn settings for your provider?
yeah, I even called my provider for the settings but it still doesn't work
it's a known Problem on HD, look at this:

still need help with this issue

SM-N9005 - No 4G LTE.

Hello guys. I have a long story for you, but I am just gonna keep it very short.
I've had trouble with 4G LTE on TWO Galaxy Note 3's.
I got my first one about 4 months ago, then I got a new device about 1 month exactly because of 4G not working.
However, it is still not working.
My first phone was 100% stock, never rooted and never played with. So was my 2nd phone, and LTE still didn't work. However, it's rooted with CM11 nightly with temasek kernel on it right now, and still no 4G LTE.
I've talked a lot with my carrier (Telenor DK, Denmark) and they sent me a new SIM-card, which did not work help with the missing LTE either. I just called them again today and they double checked everything and told me that I was totally ready to go with 4G LTE.
(The location is not the problem as I've been VARIOUS places with no connection to 4G.)
All the network options are as they should be, etc. However there is still NO 4G LTE.
I then started to read on a lot of posts from this forum, and I may have come to the conclusion that my phone has different frequencies or different LTE bands than my country has? I'm not sure, but I THINK that my carrier (Telenor Denmark) uses 800mhz band.
I don't know if Cat4 is some american only standard or so? I'm not sure, I hope you guys can help.
This is what it says on the box: http://i.imgur.com/JLSrR0b.jpg?1
There is also the european certifcation sticker on the front: http://i.imgur.com/jTxqtzS.jpg?1
You won't be able to see it, but it is a shiny/glittering sticker that says "Approved for Nordic Operators" and as you might have guessed, I live in Denmark.
And at last, some screenshots of the phone: http://imgur.com/a/IHs5N - As you can see, LTE and everything is checked.
I'm not really sure what I can do more. I hope you guys have any idea of what the cause of me not being able to have 4G LTE network.
Many thanks!
Perhaps your issue may be similar to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2693022
You could try tinkering with your APN.
Found this online but I'm not sure if it's completely accurate:
APN Name: Telenor

MMSC: http://mms.telenor.dk
MMSC proxy: 212.88.64.8

Thanks for your reply.
I should have mentioned, that I already tried to play with exact these settings, without luck.
However, I did it again since it had been a long time, and sadly again no luck.
The APN settings seems to be correct set up by default.
EDIT: I have a feeling it's because my LTE radio doesn't run the right frequency/mhz. Is there anyway that I can check if that's the problem?
And for clarity, I have never seen the 4G logo on my phone. My connection is 3G / H+ 50/50 of the time.

Telenor Denmark uses 1800Mhz for its LTE network so it should be compatible as you are using a Note 3 N9005 as listed on GSMArena Note 3.

Okay thanks! great to have that out of the way.
Now, I'm just asking out of curiousity.
What does the Cat4 on the box in the LTE section mean? Could it be anything with that?
Does that mean Band 4? .. Because it looks like Telenor uses band 3? Now. I have no idea what I am talking about and if this really matters, but please correct me if I am wrong.
EDIT: Also, my phone has a 4G logo on the back of the slim case you get with it. I've heard some people say that it's only the american models that get these?
It looks like this: http://goo.gl/UUJXCK - It says 4G in the middle where it says Galaxy Note 3 on this one.
EDIT: Pictures of my DEFAULT APN settings.
APNs: http://i.imgur.com/ckBC0kP.png

Telenor DK MMS: http://imgur.com/a/aH2Wd
I am not QUITE sure, but to me they look correct. Please take a close look at them and tell me if I am missing anything. Thanks a lot!

I believe Cat 4 is just a hardware standard indicating peak datarates.
Try selecting the mms apn rather than the internet one and see if that changes anything.
I had a similar issue with Telus not receiving internet till i switched from the isp.telus apn to sp.telus apn.
Worth a shot i guess.

Thanks a lot for your help. Well I can't select the Telenor DK MMS like I can select the internet one. If you look at the picture there is a blue check mark at the internet one which the mms one doesn't have. If I click on the MMS one it just takes me to the settings. I hope it makes sense. Thanks.

Oh, ummm.
You could try to edit the internet one to be identical to the mms settings. If anything, you can just revert it back to the internet settings if it doesn't help.

I have tried to do that multiple times without any luck at all.
I will try to do it in a few minutes just in case, however it never seems to help. The only thing that happens is that my mobile connection drops for about 20 seconds then comes back as the usual 3G / H+.
EDIT: I played around with the APN settings again, for about 1 hour, still with no luck.
So I'm stuck here as of now. I've tried everything mentioned in this thread and nothing works.
I am not sure what is wrong. I hope any of you might have more possible solutions for my LTE problem on my SM-N9005.
Thanks.

I'm sure that your APN settings are wrong... they are wrong by default sometimes. 2G and 3G is working for you, right? If yes, than it's the problem with settings. Try to copy APN setting from someone who has a phone with working 4G ( and is the same carrier as you ).

I've been thinking the same. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong or something, because I've tried to change the settings so much. I don't have access to a 4G phone on the same carrier, neither does any of my friend use my carrier (atleast I think so) - so I will do some more internet research.
Again, thanks a lot for your help, friend!
EDIT: I've found some totally different Telenor APN settings than I've ever seen before. I'm not sure if they're old or not, but I'll definitely try now and report back.

Then try to call your carrier service, and request that they tell you all of APN settings. Try every one of them. I had exactly the same problem, they were sending me bad APN settings. They were also telling me that everything is good on their side with network, and that my phone is broken. So don't believe them, you probably know more about technology than 90% of workers there

I tried with the ones I found, and they do not work.
I took your advice and tried to call them once again, but what they told me is already what the default APN is, like in my pictures from my previous post.
I'm still lost without LTE.

I don't know if your telco does this but Telstra in Australia will send a system message that will save the correct APN settings into your phone. This can be initiated by you through their internet site, no call center staff to stuff things up... You receive the message like a normal sms but when prompted install and save...
Might be worth a shot to either ask to be sent the settings or see if they do the same on their website... You might be lucky...

It seems like they do not offer such service. However I looked at some APN setup guide on their website, and it is 100% identical to what my APN's look like.
Hmm. As stated before, 3G and HSPDA, HSPDA+ works perfectly. But no 4G/LTE. Never.
I'm sorry for double posting, but I've got some news. (I think.)
So, someone told me that I should try to dial *#*#4636#*#* and put up screenshots of it, so I figured out that I should put them here too.
So when I dailed *#*#4636#*#*, I got to this screen: http://i.imgur.com/nvEQqUF.png
I then chose phone information, and I got here: http://i.imgur.com/TTPAHw5.png - Notice that H+ is working fine.
Then I tried to select LTE only, and this happened: http://imgur.com/eNfl4xk - No signal from LTE at all.
I'm not sure if this is anything new, but I thought I'd show it here too.
Thanks.
EDIT: Okay, so I've made some further investigation and some people tell me that I might have the wrong CSC number for my country. However, I have no idea what that means really. Is it possible for me to "flash" the
correct CSC number onto my phone or something like that?
EDIT: I'm going to flash STOCK Nordic 4.4.2 ROM and solve the issue there, I've heard some talking about I should do that first. I will report back if I find my solution. Thanks.
Hello again.
I haven't really been doing anything to search further, but I am still left with no LTE, the flash of the 4.4.2 stock nordic rom did not help.
Just thought I'd give a little update.
