Several times when my HD2 had very low power it would go through a reset-reboot cycle which eventually resulted in a power off-> charge (I couldnt get it to merely remain powered off whilst charging as it would always start up and attempt a boot whenever I either put the bat in or pluged it in)
Last time this happened, however, it stopped charging altogther. I have two batteries, neither of which charge. Ive tried several roms and have now even returned to winmo 6.5!
BTW the roms flash ok, but in all cases, the phone restarts at some stage during boot.
The phone behaves as if Ive pulled the battery when I pull the usb cable, hence why it feels to me as if its an issue related to the battery not charging.
Any ideas? Anyone successfully charged up a battery without it being in the phone?
Thanks!
sorry *facepalm* just noticed one of the power pins was bent! Fixed!!

This morning my HD2(7) was totaly empty. The power button did not do anything and the phone won't start up. When I hooked it up to the charger, the red led did not come up and the phone was not charged at all.
I tried to do a soft reset, but nothing happend. Some posts on this forum suggested a hard reset, but I did not want to loose all content on my phone.
It seems that the real solution is very simple. Just connect the phone to a charger, remove the battery completly and then place the battery back in the phone. The HTC will now start up and begin to charge.
So, just a waring, do not hard reset when you phone stops charging...
Cheers, Rene
Funnily enough I put my phone on charge last night, forgetting that I'd also switched it off... Came to it this morning and remembered about the charging issue when switched off. Tried to switch the phone on and nothing... So I went to change the battery with the wife's HD2, but managed to mix up the batteries and found that my phone would switch on afterall and it was also fully charged. The wife had her's on charge overnight as well, so both batteries were showing as being full...
Charging issue has been fix up in the MAGLDR 1.13 version

There is no doubt that this is sensible advice, but there may be an overlap with another issue here.
I have noticed - and it could just be specific to my phone - that if the phone gets to the point where it shuts itself down to conserve power, it will often not restart from the power on button and only pulling the battery will wake it up. This seems to be a 'feature' of WP7 on HD2.
Interestingly, on several occasions where the battery has been fully charged (and still plugged in) the phone will not start from power on if I do a shut down - I tried it less than an hour ago after making a couple registry tweaks and only pulling the battery would persuade a fully charged phone to restart. It would be interesting to know if others are finding the same.
Where the battery is seriously discharged, it can take several cycles of pull battery - boot phone - phone decides it has insufficient battery and shuts down - pull battery - boot phone...before WP7 decides it has had enough juice trickled back into it to be able to charge - sounds crazy, but there you go.
MAGLDR v1.12 doesn't support charging, which doesn't help. I'm going to try v1.13 to see if agarp is correct - here's hoping.
Update: I don't think MAGLDR113 supports charging directly but I believe it has something built in to prevent a plugged in phone running down the battery. Not sure about exactly what, but it suggests something about booting the phone if plugged in and battery is at critical levels.
I woke up this morning and my phone was off. As you probably already know, the HD2 does not stay off if it is plugged in (with WP7 on it). I checked the charger and outlet; everything was plugged in. I also used a different charger, and different outlet which I know works, and got the same result. When the phone was plugged in it would turn on and start booting then I would see the flashing light - indicating that the battery was dying- and the phone would shut off. This happened like ten times.
I took out the battery and put it back in, with no results. Then I switched batteries and it finally worked. I'm still learning about technology in general; is it possible that my other battery is dead?
Has anyone else had this issue?
your other battery is probably just flat, and cant charge because it needs a running OS, and since the OS cant get far enough into the boot sequence to start charging, the several times it bootlooped will have drained the last of the charge.
Options - external charger, loan of a hd2 running winmo, or my personal fave, (used it three times now) usb cable with end cut off, red wire to + black wire to - on battery, hold for a minute or two, should have enough juice to boot far enough to begin charging. Best to use wall charger rather than pc usb, since the pc may connect and disconnect time or two whilst booting, preventing continual charge.
I forgot to mention that the first time that the I booted with the battery that doesn't seem to work I actually got to the wp7 home screen and it was about 20 seconds before the phone died.
Even so, I'll try that cut off cord thing when I reach home. Thanks for the advice.
I guess my phone just felt like being retarded the "flat" battery is working now.
Ok i don't know what's going on with this. I have been running a rom for a while on here, not sure which one, but this seems to happen with any Rom i've tried. But when the battery dies and i try to go to recharge it, it just keeps rebooting when it tried to load windows. . Once in awhile i have gotton it to go thru by unplugging it right before it goes into windows and then repluging it up when windows starts. But even that isn't working today.
Any ideas as to what to do to get it to charge properly?
Hi
I have an other experiens with dead battery. When my HD2 was dead I tryed to charge it but the red light indicating that´s charging didn´t get on. I red somewhere in this forum that when using current MAGLD 1.3 you must use external charger to charge the battery when dead but hopfully this will be corrected in future MAGLD. Reacently at work when I didn´t have my external charger with me my battery/HD2 died. I pulled in the usb charger and left so whitout the red light. After 1 hour the HD2 came alive and rebooted 2-3 times and I pulled the usb-charger and battery out. I pulled the battery back into my HD2 and it started as usual and I continued charging the battery full.
I think HD2 battery is charging even when the red light is off and it behaves strange when it cames alive. Try to pull out and in the battery and start the HD2. If it keeps rebooting I think you must try to hard reset WP7 (in magld when wp7 starts booting the 12.. is displayed hold down both upp and down volumkeys and when the text about rebooting is displayed push the volum down) this vill erase all your settings so be aware. Good luck
Hold down red/end key boot into magldr and let it sit charging for a few minutes. You will NOT see the charging light.
Boot as normal into wp7 and you will have enough juice to let it start charging.
I have the same problem when I use my HTC charger. But when I use my Samsung charger (came with my Galaxy Ace) HD2 boots normally. Also I noticed that when I use the phone on HTC charger battery keeps droping. I think it uses more power then the HTC charger charges. With my Samsung charger i dont have this problem.
I tried charging in MAGDLR menu, but that only drained the battery more. (v1.13) I had to buy a universal charger ($4) to get my phone working again.
Any idea why this hasn't been fixed in MAGDLR yet? Or might there be an alternative?
For now, I think I will program Tasker to shutdown the phone at 10% battery...

Same issue here but this time i got the Storage card missing message so i had to flash the rom again and i lost all my data. We should be very carefull with this issue till we get an update for magldr
My phone just went dead yesterday, while playing tiny tower. Suddenly turned off, and would not turn back on. When I connect the charger, the led in in the speaker blinks. When the charger is not connected, the phone is completely dead. And it does not respond to anything either way. I don't know if this is rom related. Probably not? I'm thinking returning it to the shop, and hoping for the best is my only option, unless someone here has a better idea.
Update: I tried turning it on, connected to the charger, but without the battery in. It starts. So I guess the battery died? Suddenly and completely?
What happens if you turn it on without battery in and then insert battery?
Mine did a similar odd thing when I first wiped battery stats. Was playing angry birds to drain battery right down and it turned off, but would not start. LED just blinked when power was in. I just had to plug it in and unplug it a bunch of times and it finally started charging.
I did wipe battery stats last week, but have been through a few drain/recharge cycles since then. When I start with the charger connected and insert battery it gets past the boot animation and then shuts off. I tried with a different battery yesterday, and it worked fine. When you say plug it in and unplug, do you mean connecting and disconnecting charger, just repeatedly?
yeah, was just plugging and unplugging a lot and it finally worked. If another battery worked then that would seem to be the fix.
Will try that. Thanks!
Managed to get it to start by putting the battery in after starting with just the charger first. Had to try a bunch of times before it worked. Been charging now for 5 hours, but it never gets past 10% charge on the battery? Do I just let it keep charging or is there some other way to fix it?
That happened to me in the day I bought my phone. It only started with the charger plugged in (and with no battery).
I thought the problem was in the battery, but in the store they tried with a new battery and the phone did not connect. So they replaced and everything is fine (since September).
I installed the typhon couple of weeks ago the only issue i had it used to reboot by itself multiple times then works good yesterday it was off and does not work or recharge and there is no sign of power in it any ideas
1. DESCRIBE YOUR CASE IN MORE DETAIL.
How can we help you if we don't know what happened
Perhaps the battery died, and cannot charge because magldr cannot charge when phone is off.
Any chance to test another battery? Or, get old USB lead, cut end off, red to + black to - on battery, wait 1 minute, then battery back in phone see if powers on.
the battery was charged and the details is that the only symptom i had that it used to restart by itself and do it multiple times i thought it might be a software issue cuz i installed it but it seems it more any other advice
