Hi,
i got my experia play on saturday and since then i have been fighting with my wife for use of it she is a massive ps1 nut and loves games such as crash and kula world.
this has got to the point where she is tempted to sell her 3GS and get a Play herself..... what im wondering is if she does this is there anyway that we could play together is some sort of link on any games/emulators/mmo's?
if so how easy would it be as i know a lot of mmo games put you in a random server
cheers
gtanny
Most Gameloft games have built in multiplayer functionality both over the internet by WiFi or Local WiFi, so you could play those local. Just included with the Play both Asphalt 6 and Star Battalion support this. As for the PS1 ports both if and when they get released by Sony or by the emulators I don't think Sony will develop this capability and I don't think the Emulators can do it yet.
Yeah, a couple of gameloft games allow multiplayer, and if I remember correctly FPSE has some multiplayer support (tekken and the like) I don't know of any other emulators that do though.
Anyone else have anything to add?
quite a few games including the ps suite games and fpse emulated games allow for 2 players, infact i kicked my brothers arse on hogs of war the other day

I don't think blutooth will be an option for multiplayer... but wifi seems to work. however... i don't have a second set to test it... (the only person I know has one is a girl... not a tech savvy by any means... and I won't waste myteaching her), all my buddies tried to get one the week after I got it... but the price already skyrocket'd ( I got it for 80 USD on a 18 month 30 USD non-data plan, now it is 400 Dlls with the same plan) I GOT LUCKY!!!
I went on a trip recently to a location that had limited internet connectivity. I decided to download some movies from the Samsung media hub in advance. Well what do you know when I am finally out of wireless range andI want to watch my movies it won't let me because it wants to connect to the internet. Things like this are why Apple still dominates media heavy devices. If I have paid for a rental I should be able to watch it with or without wireless connectivity for the period that I rented it for.

Wow, how stupid. I just tried it with some TV shows I purchased outright and it needs a signal in order to launch. Once it's launched and you're signed in it allows you to watch what's on your Tab without being connected. But you have to keep it running in the background because if it's closed it'll need a signal again to log you back in. Not really well thought out at all.
You think that's bad......
Samsung Apps won't load without a SIM,
EVEN IF YOU'RE CONNECTED TO WiFi.
Doh!!!
Does Google movies have the same requirements?

Weird...
I have downloaded (bought) movies and TV episodes.... from the Media hub.... several... and watched them on planes, I travel a lot for work and this kills time for me on the plane.
It as worked great, no issues.
I have not tried a rental though, I am going to tomorrow though, going to download / rent a movie from the hub and see if it will play on the plane ride home tomorrow.

After flying home today I found that the rental will not play when their isn't a internet connection.
I am guessing it wants the internet connection so it can verify you have started watching the video? and lock it down after 24 hours?
Movies and TV episodes worked fine though.
This is on a VZW LTE version if it makes any difference.

do the google market rentals require an internet connection to start playing?

Ugh. This happened to me too! I stocked up on movies for a 12-hour Santiago, Chile to LAX flight only to find out I couldn't watch them without an internet connection. I love the Tab 10.1 over an iPad but you gotta be kidding me. Who thought of this crap?! I was furious. Apple has similar rules but once you start watching it, the device itself will disable it in 24 hours. WTF were they thinking?
Can I just throw out here that all this complaining (which really shouldn't be on XDA, a developer website) is directed towards the tablet, when in reality the problem is one single crappy software application. There's many, many ways to watch video on the tablet that don't require an internet connection. In fact, I'd venture a guess that there's more ways to watch than with the iPad (gasp!). But here you are complaining and comparing tablets, when in reality you should just spend a second figuring out how to watch your videos without the internet connection. I'm sure the time you spent complaining about it (on a developer website) could have been spent looking for a solution. BTW- if you read the not-so-small print on the media hub page you'd know that you needed an internet connection to watch.
General Rule-of-Thumb:
Any app with "Samsung" preceding it's name, you can assume it's ****!

Hello everyone,
Don't be upset...you can play these movies offline...what you have to do is whenever you download or rent a movie you have to play the movie for at least 1 minute while logged in...This is the time that media hub tranfers the license to play the movie offline to your device. I had this same issue as well..but I read the samsung media hub pdf and those were the instructions to play it offline...I know...ITS BASS Ackwards for media hub to deploy it this way...but that is the way it works for....it works well for me and I now have no issues with rentals or purchases. For your guys convenience I"ve attached the pdf from samsung media hub...hope this helps and happy offline movie watching

Does Justin tv viewer app work on nexus 4 ? Does anyone has new version of justin tv viewer app apk file ...
Thanks
Why don't you try it?
UPDATED:

and is compatible according to GPlay Store
By justin.tv you probably mean twitch.tv? If so twitch has been working just fine forme. Have been streaming league of legends for a while now on Xylons Rom. Just search up twitch.tv on the playstore it's free.
You should google that.
I looked at the play store page and it says it's compatible with all of my devices including my Nexus 4.
Don't expect to be spoonfed everything! You're new here so I gave you a break....learn to search for answers before asking simple questions. Simple questions are a waste of bandwidth and server space.

Agreed
@narupls: Twitch and JustinTV are two different things. They are owned by the same company and are very similar. Twitch is primarily for gaming and JustinTV is for the non-gaming side of things

Thanks for clearing that up, I am just so used to the gaming side of justin.tv so I thought he meant twitch cause they made the merge of the gaming section of justin.tv over to twitch.tv.

Same here, I'm used to twitch. Stream some games from time to time and use it to mainly watch tournaments during the week and weekend. About to watch some NASL when it kicks off in two minutes actually!
Some people still use JustinTV, I remembered watching soccer on there a few years back. I still feel that the TwitchTV Android App needs to be improved, the iOS version is so much superior. Right now theres no support for your user account (whom I'm following) and there is a significant delay on the stream using the app when watching what you watch on the desktop.

Watch the video at the bottom! looks awesome!
Onlive is a PC game streaming business.
It currently supports PC, Android and TV (via android tv box).
Impressive controller with PC/Mac/Android support:
http://play.onlive.com/controller_specs
It includes a usb Wireless Adapter, I'm guess it's for PC folk with no BT.
Not sure if it's made by Madcatz, like the fireTV's controller, the body/battery area looks familiar though.
If I have time, I'll try out a demo this weekend.
Anyone whose not tried onlive get right on it you wont be dissapointed providing your internet connection dont suck, ive had my subscriptions since early 2011 and its freeking aswome, lets see andry birds, wordfeud or boarderlands hmmm no contest. This is how mobile gaming was ment to be.

As of yet I've only loaded the app and watched a few others playing in the arena, didn't have any problems so assumed it would play as well, can check later on. I ain't had a proper chance to use the mojo for prolonged periods of time cause of my work hours and world cup . Spent most of my time trying to get the high res config files on doom 3 to work and sorting out my ROMs files. Doom 3 worked fine in normal with no shaders running between 55/60 fps but when I change the config file to include tye android hi res settings its exits the game, dunnno why. But will get it working if its the last thing I do.

It might be that the new ui is the problem they changed it about 3 months ago and the old one was much better. The new one has a tendency to be laggy on movements/navigating. Also try pressing x on the initial starting of the app that gets the controller hooked up. If its the same as OLs micro console the analog sticks are a bit naff for navigating the menues try only using the dpad.
First of all I just got to say the fact that I don't have simple apps such as ABC, Fox or HBO Go is a letdown. I still have to switch between my NP and ATV. I don't understand why the NP is so restrictive. I wish I can run full android with the android TV interface. Not this walled garden without many good apps.
What I really like about the NP is the recommendations feature of Android TV. It is well done and pulls in the videos from various apps. I like this curation.
I use the sideloader app and cloud to side load apps. I was able to side load the MSG Go app on the NP. Noticed that it was in portrait mode so I had to download another app to force landscape on all apps. When I watch the video on the msg go app it isn't crisp. I see the scan lines on the movement from the basketball games and the quality isn't HD. On my iPad the same app looks great. Both run off the same wifi so I don't know why the quality is bad on the NP. Maybe there is a setting I need to toggle but the other videos are fine.
What really is frustrating is that apps like Netflix don't work when updated, I have to turn off auto updates for apps to not break anything. It is difficult to know when an update will improve or break an app. It is also difficult to know when an app is compatible or a great android app can be side loaded without compromise.
If anyone has any advise please lay it on me.

You can sideload and install whatever you like onto it. But developers have to say they support Android TV in order for it to appear on the Nexus Player through the store because a lot of them don't work with just a remote control, and devs don't want to get emails or bad reviews for not supporting it. You wanna complain about this, go moan at the devs for not making their app suitable for a TV interface.

Well thats a risk you're gonna have to live with. If its deemed compatible by the developers, it'll be in the Play Store to install on the Nexus Player. If its not, its your risk. There's endless apps, and a very small market for Android TV so a lot of devs just won't bother yet.
Exactly my point. Great experience horrible development
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe the point is that you DON'T sideload. Just because it can be done doesn't mean you'll get a good experience when you do it.
The way Google intended it to be is as a heavily curated selection.....or so they say.
I used to side load but now I don't. I'm not going to use an air mouse or keyboard to control my TV. Usually if there isn't an official app like HBO Go, you can still cast. I would much rather do this than hack my way through some side loaded app.
Sent from my XT1096 using Tapatalk
I think we are still in a transitional period. Small developers are trying to get the most from their work so they go different places. But some of this stuff is simply politics. Fox, ABC, HBO, Amazon make political choices not based on hardware or software limitations. Why does Watch ESPN work on Fire TV with the controller but on the Nexus Player you need to sideload and use a mouse? Politics at play. Why do I have to sideload Kodi onto the Fire TV? More politics.

Side loading is the only way to get the apps that I use regularly on the device I want it on. My point is that it shouldn't be a walled garden and Google should make it so apps like abc, ESPN etc are already on the system. No reason for those basic ones not to be.

It isn't a walled garden if you can sideload. However you are expecting all sideloaded apps to run as they are on a TV when they are made to be used on a touchscreen in the first place.
What you should be ranting is why not more companies or devs release apps that are remote optimized, instead of barking up the wrong tree. Google isn't stopping those companies from releasing TV compatible apps - those companies are the ones not doing so.
