I bought this phone brand new, it was never turned on and still sealed in the package when I got it.
My phone vibrates out of nowhere/randomly when it requires to vibrate, I dropped it on the floor it hit something hard & vibrated right after.
I think something is wrong with the vibrator inside, anyone know how to fix it?
Tried other roms, its the same in every rom.
Thankyou

Have you tried flushing a new ROM?
Please make any suggestions
Could be a hardware issue...
Check to see if the camera lens or flash looks like it has been pushed into the handset.

Take your phone apart, and check the vibrator (basically a motor with a weight encased in a thin rubber enclosure)
Disassembly Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL-jnUKufC4&feature=player_embedded
Vibrator location: http://guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/MQTWjvxpURg52WSD.medium
I don't think there is any other way to check the vibrator or fix the issue, just make sure to follow the video exactly and try not to break anything.
When you have the phone open, make sure the vibrator motor is in its proper place, and fits snugly. Make sure the wires aren't shorting, as that could be the cause.
Damn thankyou, I don't need vibration that bad, I could mess, up my device, I'm not that good at mechanical engineering

Hi all, the "h" from the htc logo on the back of my legend has come off. A trivial thing but annoying, it's now just an "h" shaped dent with a couple of glue holes. The metal "h" is now somewhere in Greater London
The phone's still under warranty but wondering if this was a common issue?
I have seen it before but not sure how common, try sending it back!
Well somebody already mentioned this problem. But his was the 'C'. Its not that common but it does happen.
I make up the trio - I've lost the 't' from the back of mine. It hasn't been through any major falls or anything so it's probably something they'd fix under warranty.
I've noticed mine sounds like there's something moving if I give it a fairly hard tap where the rubber around the camera is; I don't know if that's how it's always been though.
Crazy, I looked at mine after reading your post and I'm missing the h now as well. Wonder how long ago it fell off...

Yes! I've noticed that too since day one. The hell is it?

YEah I have that too; I think it's the AF lens?
It's the autofocus. Same "klick" as when it is focusing on cam app mode.

Howdy, I have come for help.
My wifes phone (I'm not allowed to touch lol) was running CM7.1 with its stock kernel. For months just fine.
A week ago the camera stopped working. No new apps. nothing touched at all.
Any app that runs the camera goes to a blank screen.
Yesterday I flashed tommy tomatoes classic 6 (awesome rom) with its rom.
new rom new kernel, still no camera.
Phone has not ben dropped or abused.
Any ideas?
Or is it time for me to give her my evo so I can get a new phone lol.
Thanks.
Ps
yes I wipe and wipe and wipe everything before I flash anything.
I even wiped her sd card.
Amon Ra
pps
both front and back camera and video does not work, just a blank screen.
home button is the only way back out.
Flash a stock rom with the stock kernel. If that doesnt work, it's likely a hardware failure with the camera itself.
Hate to say it but before I rooted and started messing with roms, my camera seemed like it always had problems

Update:
Took the phone apart.
The back camera was not seated properly.
Strange, phone had not been dropped or opened up before.
Its two years old and worked fine until now.
pressed it back in place and works fine now.
The front camera works now too.

I have never looked inside my EVO but I have the same problem white screen when I try to use the camera. Is making sure its seated something a novice can check with little electronics experiance. This phone that is having the problem is a refurbished phone that I had to beg sprint for and just recieved last week the usb port went bad in the last one. I don't want to have to go thru begging sprint for another if I don't have to.

anyone could do this,
http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-HTC-Evo-4G-Rear-Inner-Frame/3062/1
once you follow those steps,
the camera is one square piece and has a square frame around it.
pull the frame up and off then you can pull the camera out.
just remember how it sits, It will make a difference.
I would just press it down and make sure its in and flat, don't fingerprint the lens
If you pull it out and forget how it goes in..... on the bottom of the camera are the contacts, one side has fewer.
the fewer side goes away from the volume buttons.
and you can get a new camera from places like this http://www.globaldirectparts.com/Sprint-HTC-Evo-4G-Back-Camera-p/htc736690.htm or
http://www.durapowerglobal.com/HTC-Evo-4G-Rear-Camera_p_1360.html
I have never purchased from them. or try ebay or amazon.
It looks like it could be scary but as long as I don't touch anything but the camera that allready is not working what could go wrong. I might give it a shot this weekend have to give radioshack a call and see if they have that screwdriver I need thank you for the very good directions.

I have a leatherman wave. I used the tiny flat screwdriver to open mine.
A glasses screwdriver might work too.
screws are not very tight.
And a guitar pick to wedge the back apart.
Just be careful around the power button and volume buttons. They will fall out.
I placed my phone face down on a folded wash cloth. To protect the screen.

Your welcome, glad I could help someone.
The scary part is prying the back off.
It snaps together tight.
What ever you wedge between the halves, pry upwards. As if your taking the lid of a paint can.
Don't twist like a screw.

My screen of my HD2 had a pixel fault, it had a purple circle on the middle of the screen, so I decided to dissasemble it.
Well, the phone inside is very confusing, I looked at the screen part and I couldn't see anything.
I re assembled it, and it won't power on now.
Is a phone so sensible when I touch it inside its gonna die?
I successfuly changed the digitizer of my Wildfire S so I thought the HD2 wouldn't be a problem.
Is a phone so sensible when I touch it inside is the chance to kill the phone 90% or what?
I need quick answers.
Thanks!

Hd2 is delicate & not easy to dismantle without experience & extreme care.
Most first time strip-downs by people with little or no experience result in problems like yours.
Check out the threads on dismantling guides & also videos can be found on youtube.
Check all connectors to mainboard are inserted correctly & also check basics such as battery pins are straight & not misaligned during dismantling/rebuild.
Initial screen issue sounds like lcd/digitizer needs replacing.
The very tiny camera holder on the Main Board broke, its Not a important thing its Theres thereby the camera stays at place.
While taking off the screen i accidenty broke the screen BUT ITS ALMOST INVISIBLE.
I lost some screews and the chassis won't fit in the houses.
I was going to fast cause I'm 14 and my parents didn't allow me and I didnt want them to see it.
But problem is, i lost the cable adapter for the phone vibrator (LOL)
And i lost the board screews so I used the screews of the phone case.
Where can I get new screews?

I can add pictures of the double taped box if anyone wants but basically it looks like my Nexus 4 replacement box has been opened and re-taped again. The first Nexus 4 I had shipped had only one set of black tape to seal the box but my Nexus 4 replacement has had the tape taped over as if the box has been opened. Has anyone else received a box that has had the first set of tape taped over? I sent google an email and the person I talked to told me that the device is in fact brand new and they do not sell refurbished devices.
Also, the sim opening tool bag looks like it has been opened and re-taped as well except not with an extra piece of tape this time but with either the original tape that came with it or another piece, but the bag is damaged as if it has been opened already. Anyone know what is going on with this? I have a feeling they may have checked the device to make sure there was nothing wrong with it, like the problem that made me send it back in the first place but I would really like to know the reason for this.
Please, anyone, if you have had the same thing happen or know why this has happened, please let me know!
Thanks for your time and interest.
Just check for scratches / problems. If it seems/ feels and responds well then don't break your head over it. If you have even the slightest scratch though, then do something about it. Otherwise I don't know if it matters

Good call, I will do that. I still would like to know why the double tape and why the sim card tool bag was damaged.
Thanks for your reply!

Well how else would the Fed have been able to install the tracking/eavesdropping software that is now monitoring your every move.
Honestly , mine didn't even have a sticker - bought before yesterday. But alone the fact that it had that front and back sticker (which after removing good luck putting it back on perfectly). left me with some confidence. I was worried at first but after seeing the state the phone is in I thought who cares as long as it seems new and has no scuffs/scratches. I can't stop emphasizing on how much I love my first nexus phone (3rd - 4th android phone). Simply gorgeous.

There is a haptic feed back when you press softkeys. you might be pushing them.

When you mean vibration. Do you mean in your pocket? If you get the vibration/boom feeling then that the vibrating motor. Hope this helps.

hey guys, its not the haptic feedback. its like it somehow 'vibrates' when I tapped it on the back of my phone.
It hasn't occured to you that it might be something to do with this at all?

it doesn't really vibrate but it kinda feels like its moving when tapped with your nails.
Yeah I have the same feeling, like its on "haptic Vibro" but thats not enabled, yet still feels like a slighter Vibrate when hitting some keys?
I think I know what he means...
Its not a feedback from the vibrator at all -- I sometimes tap on my Note when I'm listening to music, like I'm playing a drum solo with my fingers
There is a faint vibration when I do that.
I always assumed it was just one of the sensors vibrating in response to my enthusiastic taps. Who knows, the shock sensor, the vibrator itself?
Anyway, I don't think its anything wrong or broken.
I don't think there is a problem... it happened with my note 2, but always worked well and flawlessly
I get it occasionally and gave up with it.

Hi!
A lady friend of mine has this problem on a GSIII.
She broke her screen and since i had a GSIII with dead mainboard i moved her mainboard to the other phone. Main camera & all.
The phone now works perfectly but has accuired the "vibrate when tapping" issue.
Personally i´d say that the vibrating camera module is a solid bet. Production tolerances might be a little on the loose side in the new camera/screenframe combo and there is a short unsupported flex cable from main board to camera module.
If i understand this particular issue correctly you dropped your phone a while back. This just might have knocked the camera module a bit around so it now sits a smidgeon more loosely in the camera bay.
If it really bothers you, a solution could be to disassemble your phone and try thightening the tolerances in the camera mount by adding small pieces of e.g. sticky tape on sides or bottom. If nothing else you´d be able to confirm or discard the camera module as the "culprit".
Personally though i wouldn´t worry about it, as long as everything hums along nicely with this particular handset.
Regards
Elo

hello! thanks for your long reply, this happened before I dropped my device, so I reckon it isn't because of the drop! it works flawlessly, but do you think I should take it over to Samsung? or is it not an issue?

About the drop - oh yeah, you stated that earlier, my bad.
I´d leave it alone.
If the phone is still under warranty you could try taking it to a service center but then you´ll have to demonstrate there is an issue.
As everything works as it should that might be easier said than done.
