[Q] htc logo on back of phone - Legend General

Hi all, the "h" from the htc logo on the back of my legend has come off. A trivial thing but annoying, it's now just an "h" shaped dent with a couple of glue holes. The metal "h" is now somewhere in Greater London
The phone's still under warranty but wondering if this was a common issue?

I have seen it before but not sure how common, try sending it back!

Well somebody already mentioned this problem. But his was the 'C'. Its not that common but it does happen.

I make up the trio - I've lost the 't' from the back of mine. It hasn't been through any major falls or anything so it's probably something they'd fix under warranty.
I've noticed mine sounds like there's something moving if I give it a fairly hard tap where the rubber around the camera is; I don't know if that's how it's always been though.

Crazy, I looked at mine after reading your post and I'm missing the h now as well. Wonder how long ago it fell off...

Yes! I've noticed that too since day one. The hell is it?

YEah I have that too; I think it's the AF lens?

It's the autofocus. Same "klick" as when it is focusing on cam app mode.

4 front buttons - build quality?

Hey all,
I've had my Legend just over 6 days now, must say the handset is very solid and built very well.
Only reservations are around the four front black buttons...
All Legends I saw in the shop had obviously been subject to lots of prodding from potential customers and all 4 buttons [ok ok there are 3 actual/physical buttons] lost their solid 'click' feel and had worked their way loose.
I'm posting because my HOME button seems to have worked its way a tiny tiny bit loose. Not enough to send it back or anything, but now, if I tap it with my finger, there is slight movement, it rocks side to side and can now hear a little clicky sound ...without actually pressing the button....this is after 6 days .
Anyone else experienced similar issues?

Should it be ignored or we should demand a replacement
Bump for this. I've noticed my HOME button has worked that little bit looser. Again.
Not fantastic for such a 'well built' device after just 3.5 months ownership.
Anyone else?
Same. I noticed it when I got it. Hasnt really got any worse and I don't think it will break but it has like a dead 'rock' to it

Same with the back button

Same, only ever use my menu button, rest are still 'solid', menu is 'squishy'.
Yupp. Menu feels solid only on one side of the button.
Same. It's just not as 'tight' as it should be.

Yeah these buttons are the major flaw of the Legend.. if it had capacitive buttons it would be amazing
My back button is not as good as it used to be :-( have to really push it down sometimes hard for it to work
do you know if it is possible to buy replacment buttons anywhere ?

Can you give me a link to the shop selling them ? I was able to open the phone and I have access to them...
I guess it requires soldering...

no thay are not, thay are attached by two screws. The problem is that it's imosible to find shop selling them.
HTC HD2
Also having this problem now. HTC HD2 about 2 months old.
The back button does not click anymore and feels soft when pressed.
This is my first HTC smartphone. Their quality is horrible a phone that cost U$500.00. Haven't they figured out how to make buttons??
Mine has been fine so far, although I've noticed that the buttons' clicking part isn't correctly centralized and in perfect angle with the plastic button itself.
So I've always pressed a specific corner of them (it changes from button to button).
Like the Home and Menu ones, the correct place seems to be the lower right corner, the Back one, in the lower left.
So pressing indiscriminately would definitely wear it quite easily.
Yes it sometimes gets annoying, but to avoid future headaches I recommend you try to feel it and adapt to the design flaw.

Vibarate rattle

Anyone else notice a rattle sound when the phone vibarates?
Its driving me nuts!
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Probably the camera. That's what rattled on my old N1 anyway. I don't hear any rattle on my G2, though.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
None at all. It might be the screen rattling, because the hinge is weaken?
Just a guess
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
No.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Is is on the counter when it vibrates? It could be the metal battery cover on the hard surface.
On mine, it seems like the noise the vibrator makes is more noticeable than the actual vibration. It's very annoying and I disabled vibration everywhere I could. Interesting to know that not everybody has this problem.
mine used to not rattle but i noticed it one day it only rattle when the the fones not slide open
Thanks for the replies!
Mine is definitely making a rattle noise like the spinner inside is loose.
I've tried it with the screen open also with same result. My iPhone did this also.
God I hate taking phones back.
How is everyone's signal on the G2? I read once that the radio isn't the best. I seem to only get edge in my house and I'm surrounded by great service area. Att always gave me 3g inside.

and i get a constant 3.5 megabtyes down and 1.3 megabytes up
Mine does the same thing. Glad I'm not the only one, I thought I was losing my mind.

Annoyed

How flimsy is the sim card cover i mean the bottom part of phone i removed it once and it bent managed to fix it but its got a creese mark now

The very first thing I did was crush the cover taking it off when I got home. Disappointed coming from a very abused, yet still mint nexus.
A thread a few posts up says to email them
Lol yeah i wasnt even cruel to it nightmare

same problem happen over here as well
push your thumbs across the top of the cover, do not pinch the sides! it specifically says not to pinch it in the first page of the instruction manual.
however i do agree the build quality of these bits are terrible.
Sim cover + gap fixed!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=827091&highlight=Sim+Cover
I don't have any problems with it at all. I think you have to remove it by sliding it down from the sides of the phone, rather than putting thumb/finger on the back.
Yup, killed one myself when I first got the DHD. HTC of course wouldn't just give me a new one - only set me back about £30 for a new one, including shipping
Yeah nearly snaped mine getting it off first time. Just creased/bent it but still works will get new one at some point. Find it best to ease it off from each side now, works for me.

I've got three DHDs around me (including mine), they are also bought from different operators. Not even one have perfect fit for the sim cover. All of them have a small bump at the center of the cover, and mine is doing some awful cracking noise. I've tried every possible way to fit the cover in (including the way described in the mentioned tread) .. no good..
So i don't think theres a DHD without this problem in the wild..

[Q] Mystery Part?

I purchased a used MyTouch 4G that had been dropped and has a cracked digitizer. While disassembling the phone, I came upon a small, clear plastic piece that was lying loose inside. I've looked at a number of disassembly videos, but I don't see this part showing up in any of the videos. I've attached two photos of the part (on top of the phone battery, for reference). The white part on it is a bit of adhesive.
Can anyone help identify this part and where it belongs in the MyTouch 4G?
that looks like it can probably be some thing that goes over one of the lenses. or maybe not for the mt4g at all but for a device that uses a trackball.

Yeah, I think it looks like something that would involve the camera, flash, or light sensor but I can't see where it would fit.
Anyone seen this part during their 4G disassembly?
I've seen that part. I just took one apart last weekend. The same part was in mine, broken into 3 pieces. I have no idea what it was supposed to be doing.
That sort of looks like a spacer of some kind. Maybe something to do with the proximity sensor or the microphone. Not sure exactly what it's purpose is
It doesn't seem like a critical part, but I'd sure like to know where it goes. The size of it seems to preclude it from being mounted along the edge, and there just isn't enough room around the front camera or light sensor for it to fit.
I wish there was a complete part breakdown for this phone. Anyone have their MT4G apart now that could verify this part?
think its a stabilizer for camera..keeps in check

I looked at a number of web sites, no one sells the part. And looked at repair videos, never saw that part in any of them. I repaired the phone (new digitizer and keypad) and reassembled without the part, everything works great.
Stuck the mystery part in a bag, maybe someday it will find its home

Sorry to bump such an old thread...
I recently replaced the rear camera in my wife's myTouch 4G and came upon this same part (broken in two, mind you). The part is a baffle/diffuser of some sort. It goes behind the white flash/torch LED.
Mystery solved...18+ months later.

Heat & gap concerns

Hi
I got my HTC one just under a week ago on three and I'm in love with it. But there are some things I'm worried about. One thing is that when I play games or plug the phone in charge the cool aluminum back becomes rather uncomfortably hot and makes me have to switch hands, it doesn't burn but it does irritate...
Secondly I've seen some posts about gaps at the top and I have those but I was wondering if anyone else has a very fine bulge of the plastic above where the usb port is? I don't know if this is a fault of my phone or it is a general thing so I don't know whether to ask for an exchange or not... If anyone wants pictures of the gap just say!

The tiny white bit in the right side, look across the phone and you'll see it better because you can't see the white bit anywhere else... I do have really sharp eyes though so If you can't see it I'm sorry

I can see it, i have excactly the same on my One, im just living with it though as everything else is soo perfect!
The only thing im worried about, is were that is, were the charger plugs in, the 2 little 'Catches' on the charger that hold it in rub on the white bit, in other words the hole seems to small, only slightly, i may contact HTC about this as im a little worried it will cause future problems like a Broken Charger or Charge Point etc. . .
Yeah that's exactly what I was worried about with the charger thing, if you do contact HTC let me know how it goes

i still cant see it. somebody mind circling it out in an edited photo?

Mine gets very hot too, I'm guessing that is a metal thing though, the gaps don't bother me or any slight overhang.
For me the issues are...
Blinkfeed
Heat
slow charging
home button is so hard to hit because it's small and in the corner
no battery percentage
no file search on the phone

Try a launcher or put blink feed to the side and disable all sources? The file search apps on the market do me fine but normally they put something on the battery so there is less heat transfer to one spot I n the metal but I don't think they've done that in the first batch :/ and mine charges pretty fine as well

I too have the overhang on the charging port. I have had two handsets (first one replaced due to gaps at top which moved when pressed) and its been on them both.
Second one has a slight dent/scratch in the white band, so ill wait another week (still in 28 days) and try and get another swap out. I do love the phone, battery life is immense, I'm getting about 2.5 days out of it at mo.
I have owned so many HTC phones it boggles the mind. In that time I have had to have 3 go in for repair. On stopped charging (one S) another had the wifi GPS glitch (one X international) and one just plain died one day to never turn on again (ATT one x+). All of these were taken care of by HTC. Can't say without issue, the international one X they scratched the case and took a little while to get a new one but in the end all my issues were taken care of. I would really say wait until HTC has resolved these issues and then they will take care of you 100%. You will need to be able to send the phone in for repair but they are fairly quick about 10 days total turn around time. They also didn't have any issue at all repairing a international phone at the USA HTC repair center something that is not true with Samsung.
Are you in the UK or America? Cus if you're in the UK I think I can get an exchange as well
