kin usb drivers

does anyone have usb drivers for kin phones? it comes up as "pink cdma"
I hope you got everything figured out by now, But I recently had the same problem when I first hooked my Kin Two to my Windows 7 Comp. You think they would recognize each other right away considering they are apart of the windows family In any case to fix the problem I had to have the Zune software installed from the Zune site. the moment I installed the software it automatically recognized my phone and installed the right drivers. It then asked me to name my device to whatever I wanted it called. Now it shows up under Device Manager in the category "Portable Devices" as whatever name I chose to call it. Hope this helps.

kin drivers
thank you for the reply
Kin usb drivers
that helped to recognize my phone, but still need usb diag drivers. it is called PINK CDMA DIAGNOSTIC DRIVERS. neither microsoft or verizon site seems to have them.
Kin usb drivers
ok so here are some more things i found after tinkering with the phone. ##77647266488 then press Call to get to a menu and go to other. if u just do the usb passthrough mode on, device manager will look for pink cdma diag driver. if u just do the PPro on, it will ask for PMX USB debug drivers. if u do both on, it will ask for USBfn composite driver. interesting...... looks like more searching
whipped up some drivers
Hello! Can anybody help me with this Pink CDMA Diagnostic Drivers?
I live in Ukraine (Eastern Europe), and my friend from USA sent me a present - Kin One phone. I know, that it is a Verizon Wireless only model. But there are some CDMA carriers in Ukraine too. So, I want to use this phone in my native country.
But I have a problem. Service-man from our carrier Intertelecom tried to download PRL-file into Kin One, but... We have no drivers.
Please, help me. Where can I get them? This phone is a present from my best friend, and I want to use Kin One very much.

lmfao...they do work for DIAG mode
if you want regular connectivity drivers then get them from MS
thnx
btw- you can jump to the noob section to get regular phone drivers
"The specified location does not contain information about your device" when I attempt to use the drivers.
So no, it appears as if they don't want to work.
any news on rooting the kin two?

Does anyone know what type of file you must have to import contacts in this hidden menu?
Got USB CDMA Drivers to install
There is an typo in the qcser.inf file: Vid_056C should be Vid_05C6
I changed this and the drivers installed.
I can now view the filesystem using BitPim.
Still cant get cdma drivers to install
I've been trying to install these drivers but couldn't, I also noticed the qcmdm file is also calling out for that vid_056C typo, should this be changed too?
When I point my device manager to the folder it just says "windows could not find driver software for your device". Any advice?
Also once the drivers are installed, do I have to change the internal settings for BitPim to detect it i.e. PPro, USB Pass Through, USB Vid Stream (on or off?).
I don't know anything about drivers but it seems that the qcmdm.ini file is a modem driver, not a diagnostic usb driver.
Yea, its seems so. Have you gotten the drivers to install? I am using Windows 7 and it does not appear to recognize these files as valid cdma drivers. I just want to be able to access the phones internal memory to add and delete ringtones. It seems they did not even develope a function to delete them at all.
News update
I too just tried getting into the internal memory on the KIN 1 and 2. Updating Windows Drivers will not help you any at all. So, here is something I tried and worked. Connect KIN to PC. Go to Zunes web site and click on Products and then click on Install Software. Leave KIN connected to PC through USB. After you install the software. Follow the Instructions and then it should grant you access into the Internal Memory. BUT... The downfall is that you HAVE to use the ZUNE software to access ANY Information on your PHONE... Until they adjust the software and drivers on Microsoft's End... Hope this Helps... Good Luck!
Yea I have Zune and use that to sync the typical files (videos, music, etc). But cannot access hidden stuff like ringtones. Which right now I can only text to myself and never...ever, be able to delete once its installed. There is no function to do so. I just wish developers stop locking away ringtones on these phones. I really feel its pointless to pay for a song I already have to be cut up and used as a ringtone. Ugh.
Would it be possible for you to write a quick guide on how to get bitpim to show KIN phones? this would lower the dificutly for a ton of people and really open the market of kin uses who want to edit their phone

Linux Virtual Machine USB Issue (Resolved)

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=570452
EDIT: Fixed it. Windows takes a rather firm grip of that driver on setup so There needs to be an additional filter set up in VM for it to pass through properly to Linux.
Shut off Virtual Box
Connect Phone
Go to settings > USB on Virtual Box
Add USB filter
Select Device
Close
On reboot linux now allows adb to pass through properly. Earlier it was setting up the device but I couldn't actually use it without the filter. Other USB devices work fine without the filter.
Edit sorry had a phone call and I got owned by an accidental early posting with zero info.
What driver is everyone using for the Epic in Virtual Box Linux on Windows 7? I'm more of a java / C++ person, not so much linux and I'm trying to get into Kernel modifications. So I decided to set up Ubuntu on Virtual box and start messing around.
Windows 7 w/ virtual box running Ubuntu
SDK and Java is installed on Linux
Plug device in, shows up in Windows 7 (no issues in this environment)
Unmount in 7 or leave mounted in 7 no difference
Shows up in Linux under VM window > USB Devices > Samsung D700
Select it, computer beeps like it found it
I do lsusb in console but it only sees the mouse and keyboard.
I've tried mounted, unmounted, debug on and off. Not sure if I'm missing something.

Java and C++ are programming languages.... Linux is an operating system... What?
I plugged my Epic in and Linux just knew what to do with it. It recognizes it as an Android Samsung phone and just works.
No need for drivers on linux/mac. Should recognize out of the box with the stock supplied cable. Install the sdk for other features like adb.

Meaning i'm a linux noob and trying to set this up in VM with Ubuntu and accidentally posted this early and had to edit it on the phone. Unfortunately I can't find the device via lsusb so I assume I need a driver for virtualbox or some setting needs to be edited.
I was looking to see if anyone else had it set up that way and I got side tracked with a phone call and couldn't edit the OP in time. (Got pwned by tab enter > auto post)

See, now that makes a lot more sense. Hahahaha. I see in the OP that you figured it out. That kind of works the other way. It wasn't a Windows problem, but rather a virtual box problem. I have a Zune and Windows 7 in a VM under Linux, and for the longest time I couldn't figure out how to get them to talk to each other. Eventually found the path that you did.
Anyway, you know you can do coding for Android under Windows, right? It's all Java. All the plugins necessary come right through on Eclipse. This could be of some help to you.

Windows is my native environment for sure and all of my coding is done via Eclipse there.
I've always been fascinated with Linux though and given our device kernel I figured it would be a good time to dive into Linux and learn all the ins and outs.
I'm finding Linux itself is rather easy. Once i got used to getting things done in terminal its not so bad. It reminds me of the old DOS days. I'm still a huge Linux noob but I can get most of what I want done so I'm happy.
The biggest hurdle has been the stupid Virtual machine and I already regret not just doing an actual partition and dual booting. My first install was through Windows Virtual Machine which turned out to be a huge SNAFU. I found Virtual box which is much much better but in the time I spent dicking around with drivers for this, changing settings for that I could have just Partition shrunk my main drive and made a dual boot.
Lesson learned. My wife and I have been enjoying our Geek time and its been an enjoyable learning experience.

[Q] shagctrl crash at startup

Hi everyone,
I didn't find any answer on the other thread.
My problem on Win7 is shagctrl.exe crash when I launch it. The controlcenter.exe crash too because he launch shagctrl.
I've tryed many things, software reinstall etc.. but nothing works.
at begining it was working but not anymore.
I just would like to start/stop the wifi, I don't need shagctrl, is someone has another solution i'll take it.
Please help me
As far as I know shagctrl does not work on windows 7. I've tried every method that claims that it works on windows 7 but I could not get it to work and I've read that so many people are having trouble enabling shagctrl. Only method to turn it back on (Wifi and BT, if it's off) is to download a file which will give you ability to turn those on and off. I forgot where I've seen those file but it doesn't hurt to use search button. Everything else works perfect except for that control.
strange, after installing W7 and before doing any update it was working fine. It was after lot of update it stops working.
Now, sometimes, I can launch the control panel, and after a reboot it's not working again.....so strange
What build of Windows 7 are you using? I use Ultimate RTM, fully updated, and my ShagCTRL works just fine, everytime.
Mine works fine too. I installed Windows 7 from DVD.
ShagCTRL certainly DOES work relaibly, on both of my W7 Shifts and those owned by others here. You just have to follow the instructions!
Please follow EXACTLY the instructions in my sticky post "My fast shift with 2GB etc". That links to a step-by-step guide. The most important part is:
"IMPORTANT When you've finished installing your drivers but still need to restart to take effect, go to your display settings (right click the desktop) and select a non aero theme. save settings after that. Windows 7 Basic is a non aero theme and it looks good. If you leave Aero enabled, your shift will blue screen of death crash when it boots into high res mode.
Windows 7 can not run Aero in high res on the shift. (for now, at least)
When you install the drivers – beware that you have to install them with Vista Compatibility mode enabled and run as Administrator. Right-click the driver setup file – click the Compatibility tab – select Windows Vista and mark “run this file as Administrator”
But please read my post and the linked post. In my experience ShagCTRL crashes or does not start on W7 if you fail to switch to a non-Aero scheme before installing, forget Vista compatibilty or to run as Admin.

Some time has gone in between...
Sorry, but: i had followed your Instructions carefully when installing Win7UltimateSP2, and never returned to an AeroTheme.
Everything worked fine till some days ago my Shift had an automatic Windows Internet Update containing some new Marvel driver.
Since then ShagCtrl neither via hardkey, nor by doubleclicking its .exe can be started- in 19 of 20 attempts
You can see this little circular arrow spinning and then vanish, while taskbar is in a way slightly flickering.
The only good thing about it: since then W-Lan connects in about 2 seconds, before this it often took 20 or more...
Any one here has got some good idea?
Maybe find this driver, re-download it and install it manually in Vista compatibility mode as admin?
edit: lucky me Win7 has got some really cool restorefunction- five days back, reset of wifi setting and everything runs smaaart
edit#2: afterwards i remember you told us updating drivers may be no good idea if device runs fine.
Never touch a running system...

I was about to suggest you did a system restore, then saw you had. I'm glad that fixed things.
However it would be interesting to see what it is that is breaking the HTC, as the updates often have other important security-related fixes.
As a safety tool, I always back up all the drivers from a working system, especially Touch, so that I can get older or alternative drivers back. Most of the automatic driver update programs will do that, even the free versions. It's not worth paying for the automatic driver update facility!
I suspect that if you save the old driver, then update, delete the new driver and restore the old, you get the Windows update and all will still work.
I am still using my Touch, but the project I am working on at present means it doesn't get used much. I wish I could get Windows 8.1 working on it, but I think W7 is the end of the road.
Enjoy.
Richard
Well, inbetween i have updated with Marvell sd8686.75.Vista.BG Driver,
dated 22.08.2008 as my Shift generally had problems detecting modern Wifi devices-
which was annoying as our Router is just two years old.
Before loss of Control Center there also has been an update of Microsoft C++ 2005.
I went back to a point before this.
I now take Paragon Backup to save my System to a micro USB
(and also for replacing 40 GB disk by 128GB SSD).
edit: it definitely is caused by C++ 2005 redistributable.
When installing Shagctrl C++ gets customized,
and obviously an update kills these settings.

[PROJECT]Digging into WP8 Emulator

Hello XDA members!
I installed the leaked WinPho 8 SDK, and (as OndraSter said in an another topic) the ROM images are VHD files.
Currently, I can only open and mount Flash.vhd. The other 3 is not valid VHD.
I have found lots of REG files inside this and will try to unlock, but there is a tons of reg.
Found changes from 7.5:
There will be new ring- and alert tones
Power Point Presentations can be view in Portrait mode
Windows Live renamed to Microsoft account in account manager
If you set password you:
dont get a new "window" to set the password, just expand screen downwards
you can show the typed caracters
Charging while turned off?
I found some interesting files in boot partition:
battery_100.bmpx
battery_255.bmpx
battery_500.bmpx
battery_755.bmpx
battery_1000.bmpx
battery_charge_normall.bmpx

ffuloader.bmpx
mobilestartup.exe

I live in a strong suspicion that new Windows Phone 8 devices can be charge without booting complete OS (becouse of EFI, maybe).
I cannot open bmpx files, becouse I could not find any program to do this.

Sorry for that trouble. I can confirm ONLY that vhd-s are okay. So I can mount it. But I don't think they are usable with virtual pc
Finally, I can start the emulator (do not ask how )
I will modify the first post to tell the (maybe little) differences between 7.5 and 8.
Good Topic
I hope the experts can find more changes and inform us the new changes coming with Windows Phone 8. I doubt there will be anything substantial to inform by Microsoft, although I am expecting some surprises.
You can run flash.vhd in VirtualBox, by setting the guest OS to Windows 7 and upping the graphics memory and enabling 3d + 2d graphics acceleration.

any sign of sync of ie bookmarks to Skydrive to then syc with desktop; also sync of recent web history?

[Q] Any way to install Inkseine in Windows 8?

I have the Thinkpad X61 tablet. I was running Windows 7 with it. Awesome experience. Just upgraded to Windows 8 (chose to keep all my files, programs, and settings), and now Inkseine does not work. When I try to start it, I get an error pop-up (Inkseine has stopped working). I tried re-installing, still no luck even with .Net 3.5 enabled (as required by the software). So how come this program works in W7 but not W8? All my other stylus programs (OneNote, Windows Journal) are working though. Is MS just banishing this awesome program? I can't find an equivalent replacement.
Try running the app in Compatibility Mode. Right-click either the EXE or the shortcut (in Start or taskbar or desktop or anywhere), select Properties, and go to Compatibility. Enable the Compatibility Mode option for either Win7 or before (if the app say it works on XP, you might try that, for example). Then try running it again.
Also, do some searching online; other people may have had the same or similar problem and found a way around it, or the developer might even have a patch for it. Win8 is supposed to be fully binary compatible with Win7 programs, but these things are never perfect.
It would help if you could get the error message, exception info, or stack trace. However, unless you know how to use a Windows debugger, hat probably won't happen.

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately, no compatibility mode is able to make the program run. I used to have Visual Studio 2010 with all the debugging software but since I am not really a programmer I got rid of it. So sadly, I can't figure out what's wrong. I managed to get to the event logger but there was nothing there about inkseine.
I sent a message to the Inkseine team at Microsoft and got a response saying that the program is working on their end. So maybe I just got a corrupted upgrade from Win7 to Win8? My computer runs like butter though, so I am not eager to change anything right now. I am slowly learning to do my scribbling with Journal, but the experience will definitely never be the same (except I am liking the small memory usage of Journal. Inkseine uses A LOT of memory and creates huge files too)
