any 3rd party camera apps? - Focus General

are there any 3rd party camera apps for wp7?
on my android, i had vignette, which was an awesome compliment to my phone's 8mp camera. you could add different effects to photos, take 16:9, hdr, tilt-shift, vignette blur, etc. love using it and it really improves photo quality.
is there anything like that on wp7?

This isn't really a Focus specific question, you might want to post this in the WP7 forum.
But to answer your question, yes, There are many photo manipulation apps for WP7. There's actually a photo apps section in Marketplace.

There are 2 Samsung photo editing apps and more 3rd party ones.

[Q] camera app better then stock samsung

I want to root my note 3 knox can goto hell! the only thing stopping me is that i take a ton of photos. I was wondering for those that have rooted there note 3's is the cm camera okay or is there a 3rd party app that will beat out the stock camera?
Rooting doesn't have anything to do with the camera. You will still have a same stock camera if you need it.

Not Rooted, but I am a photographer, so i'll comment on the 3rd party apps
Camera FV-5
ProCapture
CameraZoom FX
These are the more 'professional' camera apps. Personally I use FV5 and Procapture a lot, Zoom is my backup.
Just keep in mind they don't have the Stabilisation option that Stock has for night shots. But you get a lot more options in return, amongst which are shutter speed and ISO.
you can try Lenovo camera app in Themes and Apps secrion, or use DSLR camera apps.

So, we should use Stabilisation for NightShots mostly, right ?
Galaxy S3 had also few other nice modes, like Sunset. It took beautiful sunset photos, much better then Note3. Or maybe I should still experiment with the camera.
BTW, I do use 3rd party camera apps (same as yours), plus SnapIt.

Stabilisation was meant purely for low-light shots. Doesn't mean we can't use it creatively, but that was what Samsung intended it for. It even says so when you activate it.

I'm afraid those are all the options I avoid like the plague.. So I wouldn't know Perhaps someone else can be more helpful..

Stock Camera aficionados - Stock v 3rd party. Are algorithms an issue?

Thought this might be worth a discussion.
Keen to leave Stock camera for the first time as my general photography skills have improved with my budget dslr and want more comprehensive white balance, aperture and shutter speed options.
What I'm concerned about is......does the s4's stock camera have any sort of algorithmic advantages/tweaks that I will lose if I switch to a 3rd party?
With an iPhone for instance there's no fear of this as Apple is pretty militant (translation: nazi-like) with their camera API. But wondering if moving to a 3rd party cam might result in losing any camera optimisations Samsung may have specifically applied to the stock and only stock app.
Thanks.
From a non technical point of view and based solely on my personal experiences I would say any 3rd party camera app falls short of the stock app. Burst mode, HDR and panoramic all work flawlessly on stock.

I have to agree. The stock camera app is one of the MAIN reasons that I stick with TouchWiz ROMs because frankly when it comes to performance and options there still isn't any 3rd party app out there that comes close to what the stock will do.

Does Samsung degrade the picture quality of third party camera apps?

Hi, since the photos of the S7 Edge are a bit to overly sharpend for my taste I tried a couple of third party apps today. The results were terrible. Even at low ISO there were no details, everything was just smeared all over the place.
One of the developers answered to someones review on the play store and claimed that Samsung purposefully degrades the image quality of third party apps. Even though that comment was about the S6 Edge, it totally seems that way with my S7 Edge as well.
How are your experiences with third party camera apps? I tried Camera Zoom FX Pro, A Better Camera and Open Camera, all with the same results.
That's a bold claim. I have camera fv5. Coz all auto pics are good from the default Samsung camera. I need good manual controls. But let me test this scenario.
I dont think they degrade it, I thought it was more to do with Drivers and Universal.
I could be wrong, i dont really dabble at the cameras much
Just so you can take a look at what I mean, a couple of full size test shots:
Samsung Camera:
Open Camera (looking good today, just like the standard app):
And now for the bad stuff:
Camera Zoom FX Pro:
ProShot (which also seems to use a tighter frame, even though I zoom out as far as possible):

Hi! I'm the developer of ProShot. Getting the app 100% on Samsung devices has been a tug of war. It all started with Android 5.0 on the S6, where flash wouldn't work (later fixed in 5.0.2). Then came IQ issues, which could only be fixed by forcing Noise Reduction on. Then with Android 6.0 Samsung prevented third party apps from accessing the full resolution of the sensor (on the S6), and video files were ruined because the device wasn't writing the proper header info (I think this affects the S7 too, unless a recent firmware update addressed it).
Having said all that, the next update to ProShot will fix the crop issue, and it will give you a toggle to control the sharpening of JPEGs. The sad thing is that the sharpening option enhances all images on all devices except Samsung. I have been trying to avoid device-specific hacks because the code can get messy and hard to manage very quickly, but in this case I might make an exception.
One additional note about that update: I am rewriting the entire app from scratch; it's going to be faster, cleaner and better in every respect. Coming late June / early July
one question which i've not found an answer to...the factory configuration of the Samsung S7 will over sharpen and over saturate/contrast. Will/Does ProShot remove this, or is a hardware limitation.

Your bad shots are showing a sort of double/triple image effect, rather than just poor quality. It looks like a problem with image stabilisation when you're using those apps.
I donĀ“t know, for take photos I use the Samsung app...but on Snapchat, WhatsApp or any other app when I open the camera to send a photo is really crap...

Camera

Hey guys what's the best camera app to use with this phone?
I've seen that when recording video the auto focus doesn't work so I wanted a good app that does.
The best camera app is the one that comes on the phone. It's the only one that supports the camera's more advanced features like optical image stabilization.
Edit: it should be noted that things like autofocus are handled by the OS when using third party camera apps. Unfortunately, no third party camera app will be able to autofocus better than the stock camera can.

Time to take picture (camera launch speed)

There! Something just happened! Did you take a picture of it? Rate this thread to express how fast the Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite can go from "zero to picture". A higher rating indicates that launching the camera app and taking a photo is extremely fast such that you never miss an important moment, like when your cat attacks the couch again.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Sometimes it is superfast, sometimes superslow and sometimes camera opens into all white blank screen and nothing happens
camera is soooo bad, I barely used it,yuck
The camera is pretty fast. Super fast, actually. The app opens immediately, and taking the first picture takes no time at all. And it's pretty well focused. If you want to manually focus a specific point, it takes a lettle more time. But still, pretty fast.
However, the camera sucks. At least the app. I've tried other camera app and thew work a little better, but still... I expected a better camera. I don't know why it has 2 rear cameras. Do they actually do something? Improve light, focusing time, whatever? I cannot see any diference between pictures taken with the secondary camera fisically covered.
Also, did anyone manage to get any good macro picture? You have to shoot really far away from the object in order for the camera to focus it.

For macro pictures, none. It sucks.
For default settings (auto) and fast photos, the stock app.
For extra functionality, I like the Camera MX app.
And I find interesting the lighting treatment of the camera zoom fx app (under the name of hdr, it combines 3 pictures for normal, max and min exposure). It also gives you tons of customization.
I'll give a try to open camera. Haven't tested it, yet.
I'll say neither of them is the "best" . They all use the same camera hardware. It's personal preference on the image treatment or personalization of the camera settings.
I'll set up magiks asap and I'll give a try with camera2api enabled (camera zoom fx let's you shoot on real manual mode).
I can post a picture of each to compare if you want to.

waiting for the results
I'll take the pictures today and I'll try to post them today, too. If not, tomorrow max.
I'll shoot in default settings and HDR. Outdoors, indoors and low-light (all default settings).
Of you want to see something else, let me know.
I've just installed magisk and enabled camera2API to try gcam and Mi A1 and Mi A2 apps. But the pictures I've taken are with regular apps before doing so. Here the go.

1st column --> Camera MX
2nd column --> Camera Zoom FX
3rd column --> Open Camera
4th column --> Stock camera app
As I said. Not major differences. Except in low light situations where ISO must be well adjusted by the app. I'd choose an app for the user experience more than for picture quality, since they all are pretty similar.
did you find any improvement with gcam?
(that can't use the second camera on the back - correct?)
It's a very generic camera, and with the 2.2 aperture, expecting good results on low lights..well, a stretch. But it does okay for the price. Front camera is rather good and it's probably the only phone in this price range to provide EIS in video which works really well.
Hello, I'm creating an account in order to give my real-life review of this phone. The previous phones I had were HTC One M8, LG G6.
Camera launching speed from the lockscreen and from the drawer is very good, to me. Especially since the Android Pie update.
