Wifi calling. Is it out today? - G2 and Desire Z General

I'm currently getting W006.25 "ISP or T-Mobile Network" errors. Is this happening to lots of others too? Maybe too many MT3G Slides are now connecting? I get 61ms ping times for the default ip address in the "Ping Network" advanced setting menu item, which seems high to me. (but pinging google.com is 108ms, so this isn't THAT bad.)

I have had that same exact error before. The fix is easy and worked for me. First thing, turn off wi-fi calling, then toggle off the wi-fi itself. Reboot your phone, make sure you have at LEAST a nominal signal so your phone is recognized by the network. Then toggle wi-fi back on, then the wi-fi calling app. Should fix that problem. I had called tech support over this, who told me wi-fi calling was out in my state, then ran across this fix in another forum.

No such luck. Still getting those errors.

Wireless @ home: My phone fails, wife's freshly-froyo'd phone works.
Wireless @ work: wifi calling on my phone works.
Wireless @ church: wifi calling on my phone works.
So, something about my phone and my home net.
Found out that the kineto app on the mt3g is newer than the one on the g2 (not surprisingly). So if we can find an …-A0-11.3 version of kineto for this thing...
Tmo support went radio silent. But someone from kineto hinted at a possible ota for wifi calling stability. More if I hear anything...

Wifi calling

Anyone try out wifi calling/messaging yet? I just sent an mms and the "G" appeared even though the cell signal is off and it's supposed to be through wifi. It took longer than when I'm on 3G too...

i think the mms goes through a diff system when get home ill try it
I believe MMS always goes through cellular data.
This is to prevent an exploit of sending free messages over Wi-fi

Something came up for crackberry users that stopped them from using UMA and since WIFI calling hits the same servers as UMA, i.e... they are the same thing, I suspect that your issue might be the same as what they were having. Your ISP's DNS is blocking the service. If you can change your DNS settings to OpenDNS.com and give it another try. This may not fix your issue, but I know it did for a whole lot of crackberry users.

I get the same error message. Just got off the phone with a tmo rep and she said that there's a signal outage(?) around Atlanta and that's why I can't get ANY cellular connection whatsoever. But I remain skeptical, as my friends on TMO are having no problems and the "outage" just so happened to affect me right after the OTA was installed. My fingers are crossed that everything gets fixed though.
Mines works fine, it depends on what kind of network your on. On my campus it would not work, but when I got to my gf apt it worked perfectly. So check the wifi settings that you haveto make sure there isn't a firewall or something else set up.

Mine works on my college campus great. I have terrible coverage here. This may be a stupid question but, it only uses minutes when I'm actually calling someone right? Not however long it is enabled? I'm only asking because I'm tired of getting screwed over in ways that I logically shouldn't be.
Yea it only uses minutes when you are calling. Also I don't know what college you go but I go to umiami, so our networks are really strict with regard to using them for gaming or any kind of tethering. So I'm guessing they haven't allowed us access to do that here. But on any other networks like a home network it works perfect.

Crap. I just sorted out my issues with things draining the battery and now Wifi calling is running rampant. It stays running in the foreground even when it is turned off and logcat shows that it is constantly active even when the phone is asleep. Is anyone else seeing anything like this?
well i would like to know why its wifi calling if tmobile still use the mins from your plan thats like stealling it helps tmo they use less data but still charge us for it
Yea genius on their part...even still its not like they're not doing anything. It its still being runs through their network just not through their towers.

yea, what he said. Cellular towers are like a gateway to the Tmobile internet. The still pay for all the fiber and backhaul that gets your calls and data where ever it is that you want them to go.
i just updated and i opened up wifi calling and configured it. i dont understand how its wifi calling when it still uses our minutes? whats the point of having it then? what benefit is there to having this app?
Yea we can but we are literally forced to just web browse lol
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
T-mobile has had the "charging for minutes via wifi" policy now for YEARS going back to the first Blackberrys that supported UMA. Minutes were deducted unless a customer paid for the @home service per month. You can complain all you want, but if you consider the other carriers and their options---T-Mobile does NOT charge for HSPA+ (4G) access while other carriers do, and some charge even if there isn't 4G in that city just based on the phone! Wifi calling can also prevent you from incurring roaming charges by allowing you to make calls from almost anywhere you can get wifi access a feature that other providers just don't have. T-Mobile gives more minutes for less money, offers more data download than other carriers, and offers some truly awesome features that others just can't compare to.
Although WiFi calling uses up our plans minutes, if we have unlimted weekend minutes, use it on the weekends, is it free or does it take away from the anytime minutes?

Poll: Wifi Calling Error, Is yours working?

My wifi calling was working perfectly fine until just a couple days ago. All of a sudden it will not connect to the same network it had been working on, I'm on a stock Tmobile G2, no root or anything. After googling around and searching these forums I've seen its a pretty widespread issue and is even occuring on the myTouch 4g. This leads me to believe its something on Tmobile's network as I don't think all of a sudden our various ISPs started blocking something that wasn't blocked before.
I'm getting the message W006.25 ISP network error, and occasionally I've got W006.15 ISP network error. Sometimes, but less often, i will get the message to register on Tmobile's network for the wifi calling. When I hit register, the app closes and if I try to open it again it will close automatically in about 2 seconds.
I've tried clearing my wifi calling app data then doing a power off and battery pull, I've uninstalled all apps/widgets that I added around the time it stopped working (nearly back to stock). No one has found a solution or even really the source of this problem. People have even tried a factory reset with no luck. Oh yea, also tried all the different wifi sleep settings and wifi calling connection preferences.
So... respond to the poll and post your details; ROM, ISP, location, time frame of working / not-working, etc...
ROM: Stock Tmobile G2
ISP: AT&T DSL (I'm pretty sure, renting a house at college right now though)
Location: Orlando, FL
Time Frame: working from about 12/23/2010 until 1/20/2011

Mine is working:
ROM: Stock ROM
ISP: RCN Cable
Location: Lehigh Valley, PA
Time Frames: Working constantly - no issues anytime in this area (only place I use it, and don't even need it)
FYI: I will give you a heads up, I work for said company above and there has been some known issues with Wifi Calling with that specific error you mentioned. It could be a location based issue in your area or there could be a global issue affections subscribers based on their connection type/SIM type/ETC...
If it continues, I'd call and ask them to check your area for a 7 to 10 mile radius for issues and also have them check on that error.
I've had that issue before, when i forgot to remove my static IP i had set for my work's wifi. It basically means it can't get to the server. its either a problem on your phone (a static IP that doesn't have access to the outside world) or the connection is being blocked enroute to their servers. make sure you don't have any special DNS settings or anything that could interfere.

Yea but I never set a static ip address nor have I changed any router settings
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I was able to login to the router and change the DNS settings as recommended in the tmobile support forums, still no luck. The router didn't have any option to allow fragmented packets which seemed like it had better success as far as fixing it for others. I don't think ill have much luck with calling the ISP since I'm renting the house for college. Maybe try hooking up my own router in place of the provided one?

Only problem that I have ever had is in a hospital with a pretty locked down network. Everywhere else has been flawless. If you have issues, use locked down dhcp on your home network with ports 500 and 4500 open.

Wifi calling and texting works for me. However, one thing i do notice is that text messages that exceed 1 text (160 chars) fail to send. Has anyone else noticed that or is it just me? When i find the time i plan on restoring my stock ROM to verify if the problem persists.
ROM: virtuous 9.0
ISP: Road Runner
Location: San Antonio, TX
It errors out for me once in a while but if I clear data on the wifi app and reboot the phone it works fine. Doesn't matter if I use enom, virtuous, or stock.

WiFi calling on T-Mobile

So I got my Priv from T-Mobile on their launch day. My only issue so far is the WiFi calling. Half of the time it says no WiFi calling, unable to connect, when in fact I'm connected to my WiFi. The other thing that annoys me is the constant WiFi calling notification. Anyone else have the same WiFi calling issue or a fix to turn off that stupid notification.

I got mines not to long ago, wifi calling works for me. But that wifi calling notifications is very annoying.... I haven't found a way to get rid of it. I have notice that it doesn't show up if there's an no open wifi connection around you.
Hope there will be a fix soon....
Other than that, the phone is really good!!!
Same issue here with the wifi calling error and annoying notification, also on tmob.

I have an unlocked PRIV that has the same model # as T-Mobile's variant. I am also using it on T-Mobile. What I see is that every time the phone is in standby, Wi-Fi calling would disconnect and upon waking phone up it would have an "x" mark over wi-fi calling icon(Error 81 unable to connect). So after a minute or so it should connect. I have already called T-Mobile a week ago and reported that, so I would really appreciate you guys with issue also do the same, so T-Mobile would do something to fix it.
Cannot get WiFi calling to work. TMo BB PRIV
New Blackberry PRIV arrived. Set up to network but cannot get WiFi calling to function. It is turned on but nothing but an "X". Without this I have no service because my house is down in a hole!
My provider is Consumer Cellular using the T-Mobile network. WiFi is enabled and was working on my Galazy J7 this morning then I moved the SIM to the PRIV. I had to drive a couple miles to get strong signal for the updates to take effect after registering the new EMIE then back home.
Signal gone (as expected) but no WiFi calling so basically no service at all.

Wi-Fi Calling T-Mobile USA (SOLUTION FOUND!)

SOLUTION AT BOTTOM
Seems like over the last day it doesn't want to stay connected to the Voice over Wi-Fi. If I toggle it it'll stay on for a few seconds and then the icon will disappear.
This is on both mine and my wife's OnePlus 8 Pro.
I've tried to restart device.
I've toggled airplane mode on/off
I've manually entered the APNs per T-Mobile's website even though the auto set ones by the phone were the same.
I went into *#*#4636#*#* and it shows I'm provisioned for Vo-WiFi.
I'm stumped. Is the network just being glitchy right now or is there something I'm missing on two different phones?
SOLUTION: Well in short OnePlus needs to send out a patch to fix this. How can you report a bug to them to fix?
Here's what I found out. Someone feel free to change your own router settings and see if the same thing happens:
My WiFi is set to WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES]. It doesn't work on that. If I set it to WPA2-PSK [AES] it works fine.
There are plenty of hotspots out there that are set up to one and some to the other. There's no reason it shouldn't work on either. Regardless, I changed the setting on my router and it's "fixed" but OnePlus needs to send out a patch or something.

That's definitely interesting. My friend down the street got the OP8P the same day as me. He seems to see VoWifi more than I do. If I toggle airplane mode, I'll get VoWifi for about a minute before it eventually switches back to VoLTE. I also am having some stability issues where the wifi signal is there, but goes bad... and the cell signal disappears altogether. If I toggle airplane mode, it goes back to normal (see attachments).
(EDIT: Not sure if both screenshots are showing, as the XDA app seems to be acting weird)
Okay this is DEFINITELY a OnePlus software bug I sent them an email via their customer support.
If I connect the wireless bullet z, wifi calling works and maintains a signal. I disconnect from all bluetooth devices and within a minute bam wifi calling icon goes out.
Updated original post found the "solution" myself. In short, how do you report a bug to OnePlus?

Wifi calling not working.

I received a new pixel 4a 5g on Friday. I have spectrum mobile and I can't get wifi calling to work. I have called spectrum twice and have gone to the local spectrum store. I have also chatted with a Google tech. No one can get it to work.
No issues with WiFi calling. Have you tried switching to airplane mode and re-eanable Wifi only? This switches on Wifi calling quickly on my 3a and 4a5g

Yes, I had this exact issue. Fix was to reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth. Hope it doesn't return, but we'll see.
Hello all,
I also have a 4a 5g phone that I've been trying like hell to get working. Started with just seeing if I could find it myself. Found something in the settings (gone now), but it said something about WiFi calling. It happened to be grayed out.
Next step was calling tech support. They could help me and they convinced me that I have to change the sim card. OK change the sim card for using wifi calling. Whatever, the sim card arrived today and I swapped it out. Now I don't have phone service and I still can't get wifi calling.
My question is where is the setting for turning wifi calling off and on? I follow these directions;
How to Enable WiFi Calling on Android 11 Stock OS
Step 1: Pull down the notification panel at the top and touch the “Settings gear (Cog)” icon.
Step 2: Touch on “Network and internet”.
Step 3: Touch “Mobile network”.
Step 4: Scroll down and touch on “Advanced”.
Step 5: Tap on “Wi-Fi calling” in the calling section.
I follow the steps and it states my wifi calling is on. Yet when I call, it's is calling tech support. I've spent way too much time with dodgy tech support. Not sure what I can try at this point. Fortunately I have other telephone options, but not my main.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for the confusion here. and thanks for the reply. OK it shows that my wifi calling is on, I don't have any phone service at the moment. Regardless of what number I call, it goes to the step through for getting to different options, like activate phone, change number, and so on. It seems like I have to turn off the phone connection to get wifi calling to step in. BTW, this SafeNet which I think they use Tracpone.
EDIT: My service is not SafeNet, nor SafeLink, but is Net10 on Tracpone. Not for long though.
You're welcome.
BTW: On my 3a I had to restart the phone from time to time. Perhaps this helps in your case.
Double check with your provider that WiFi is switched on for your account.
Yeah I reboot several times through all this. Just did now too. I did see an option to preference wifi calling over phone service. I did that and still it goes to stepping through to options in the phone service when I try to make a call.
You could try switching to airplane mode and then enable wifi only. Keep airplane mode, don't switch it off. Try calling then. This forces Wifi calling.
Finally got the option and my phone working. You are not going to believe what the problem was. It ended up that the service, BTW the service is Net10 Wireless, anyways they had the old sim card number on my account and they were using the the old number! The directions on the new sim card sent, stated to put the new card in the phone and call the number provided, which I did. I gave them the new sim card number and I assumed everyone was working with the new sim card. After well over 6 hrs with "tech support", some with a roster clearly calling out in the background. At the end I was demanding upper management right when I contacted someone. Finally had this tech support go through all the records and she figured out the sim card number was screwed up with the parties.
I'm pissed, it shouldn't take over 6 hrs and 2 days to get this resolved. I pointed out that this was the stupidity of "tech support" that caused practically this whole delay and I would say this people started the whole thing! I called up to get wifi calling up and running. The "tech support" stated that I need a new sim card. Which was the start of this mess. More than 23 calls to them regarding this!
In the end, I put the old sim card in and everything works! Even wifi calling works!
Great!

Sure would like to learn and know how and why the sim card plays a roll when you are trying to get wifi calling working. In my simple world, it's a working unlocked phone, a wifi connection, and the software on your phone to get this working.
Holly crap! Been using wifi calling successfully for the last day. OK so now I want to go back to regular phone service with phone providers. And you would think you could follow the steps at #7 and stumble your way to getting regular phone service, right. Nope, following the steps laid out will not do the trick. Now I got to figure out how to do it.
Any help on this? The Mobile Network option in Network & Internet is grayed out. Also the + sign does nothing. Turning off Wi-Fi does nothing to.
(Hoping the Hotspot & tethering is easier than wifi calling. I'll be in trouble if it's not.)
i don't have wifi calling on this phone but do on my note 10 plus,is it just in usa?

All I had to do was enabling Wifi-Calling in my phone and call the phone company to enable Wifi-Calling.
As soon as I am out of reach of my Wifi, it switches automatically to GSM or LTE (my contract does not provide me with 5G).
In other words: No need to change any settings.
Same if I disable Wifi manually. The phone shows LTE the same second.
